Here Are The Sol Blume Set Times For 2023

After being delayed due to flooding in Sacramento, the 2023 edition of Sol Blume kicks off this Saturday, August 19. Although a pair of performers won’t be able to make it, there are still plenty worth seeing, from headliners Teyana Taylor, Kehlani, Ella Mai, and Brent Faiyaz, to notable names down the lineup such as Isaiah Rashad, Joey Badass, Jessie Reyez, Pink Sweat$, Chloe, Coco Jones, Muni Long, and more. (Personally, I’m most excited about Bay Area rap fixtures such as LaRussell and P-Lo.) With alternating stages and plenty of 20-minute sets, it helps to be prepared; here are the set times so you can plan out your weekend.

On Saturday, the Blume stage starts with bLAck pARty at 12:45, Fana Hues at 1:25, Phony Ppl at 2:10, Rini at 3:00, LaRussell at 4:00, Amber Mark at 5:10, Sabrina Claudio at 6:30, Isaiah Rashad at 8:00, and Brent Faiyaz at 9:45.

The Bless stage opens with Myles Lloyd at 12:25, Tre Armani at 1:05, Alex Isley at 1:45, Mereba at 2:35, Kalan.FrFr at 3:30, P-Lo at 4:30, Mariah The Scientist at 5:50, Joey Badass at 7:10, and Ella Mai at 8:50.

On Sunday, Christian Kuria opens the Blume stage at 12:10, followed by Zae Frances (12:50), Durand Bernarr (1:30), Noodles (2:20), Zyah Belle (3:10), Muni Long (4:00), Thuy (5:10), Chloe (6:15), Jessie Reyez (7:35), and Kehlani (9:10).

Finally, the Bless stage starts at 12:00 with ♡♡♡, then proceeds with Samaria (12:30), Aria Ray (1:10), Marc E Bassy (1:55), Destin Conrad (2:45), Mahalia (3:35), Jacquees (4:35), Coco Jones (5:45), Pink Sweat$ (6:50), and Teyana Taylor (8:20).

Teyana Taylor: A Multifaceted Force Redefining Contemporary R&B

Teyana Taylor has slipped in and out of the world of R&B since she initially burst onto the scene. The multihyphenate’s career has multiple focuses, with curating genre-driving albums solely being one aspect of Taylor’s accredited career. Initially discovered by Pharell Williams at the mere age of 15, she signed a record deal with his Star Trak Entertainment imprint. Her early career existed in the world of MTV, making an appearance on My Super Sweet 16. By 2010, she was contributing guest vocals to Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Now 33 years old, Teyana Taylor is a seasoned veteran in the chaos of the entertainment world. She’s been at it since 2005, and recent development suggests that she’s only just getting started.

Of her numerous influential albums, none stands out more in her discography than K.T.S.E. Kanye West’s summer of 2018 featured iconic projects such as Kids See Ghosts and Ye. However, he also produced Taylor’s sophomore studio album. Blending aggressive frustration with her intimate relationships with the R&B soundscapes of her Harlem upbringing, K.T.S.E. was widely regarded as her hallmark project to date. Debuting at No. 2 on the R&B album charts, it’s also been her most commercially successful sonic initiative to date. Taylor’s sound walks a tightrope between being smooth and adventurous and emotionally harrowing. In essence, the record displayed newfound growth from 2014’s VII.

K.T.S.E. Was Her Breakout Project

While K.T.S.E. was a successful endeavor for Taylor, its success was largely attributed to the College Dropout era production chops from Kanye West rather than the emotionally engaging and harrowing vocals of Teyana. In addition, the project’s four-year wait was only justified with 23 minutes of new music. The record mirrored Teyana Taylor’s struggling relationships with record labels, which led to her announcing her retirement from music at the age of 31 years old. Worn down by the music industry, Kanye West’s GOOD Music made plenty of mistakes in their handling of generational talent. The Album in 2020 saw her regain control of her art under a long and complex form of sonic narratives, embracing a persona of self-loving autonomy.

However, we haven’t heard much from Taylor on the music front since the critically acclaimed 2020 release. As previously mentioned, Taylor’s interests have always subverted solely to being a musician. At only 15 years old, she was choreographing Beyonce’s hit single “Ring the Alarm.” That would only be the beginning of her chorographical career. More recently, she teamed up with Lola Brooke as the Creative Director behind her Hot 97 Summer Jam debut. She collaborated with Summer Walker on her one-night show. Taylor’s influence was blatant in Walker’s performance, which was well-received by local Atlanta fans of the fellow R&B icon. In addition, she’s teaming up with the Jordan brand to release her Jordan 1 sneakers. Taylor enlisted star Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts for the captivating commercial behind the anticipated release.

Teyana Taylor Is Pivoting Away From Music

In essence, Teyana Taylor isn’t in love with the studio. She’s captivating both in front of and behind the camera. Taylor delivered an emotional performance on A Thousand And One, which saw her break away from comedically casual roles into one as a struggling mother. Speaking to Atlanta Black Star, she stated, “I always wanted to just be taken more serious, you know what I’m saying? I feel like this put me in a position for a person to never second guess when they hear my name.” The role also more accurately mirrors her personal life, as she currently shares two daughters with ex-NBA player Iman Shumpert. In addition, she recently acted as Imani in the Jack Harlow-assisted White Men Can’t Jump. Teyana Taylor is some sort of wild blend between Lauryn Hill, Beyoncé, and Misa Hylton.

Not only did they show off their toned bodies, but their beautiful dresses just goes to show how much style they can muster for each event. On one hand, the Harlem artist wore a sleek black dress that left her mid-riff exposed. Harvey went for a similar approach, leaving her abs visible while rocking a tighter and more vibrant red piece. For those unaware, the gala raised funds for research and awareness projects concerning HIV and AIDS. Other stars in attendance were Queen Latifah, her partner Eboni Nichols, Odell Beckham Jr., Leonardo DiCaprio, Devin Booker, Heidi Klum, and many more.

Both stars have been on quite the hot streak lately, with Teyana Taylor recently starring in the remake of White Men Can’t Jump. “I think we all came to the conclusion that we were going to leave the very big shoes in a glass case, and leave it beautiful,” she told VIBE. “Understanding that it’s not broke so we shouldn’t be trying to fix it, not taking those big shoes out the case to fill them. I think what we did was customize our own pair of shoes and made it our own and we sampled a classic.

“We then added our own melodies, and our own tones, and instruments, and different things like that,” the 32-year-old continued. “We call it a remix, we remixed and sampled a classic record, and we created our very own beautiful record. For instance, she tried her hand at acting with the film A Thousand and One. Moreover, she has also been teasing a foray into sneaker design and streetwear. Overall, Taylor has always been known for her fashion. Not to mention, her partner Iman Shumpert has been around his fair share of basketball shoes. Well, Jordan Brand took notice of her love for their shoes. Subsequently, this led to a beautiful partnership that has been teased for quite some time now. Over the last few months, we have seen quite a few photos of the Air Jordan 1 “A Rose From Harlem.” Now, however, it is actually on the verge of being released, which is amazing news. Furthermore, Teyana Taylor took to Instagram today to show off a new collection that will supposedly drop alongside the sneaker.

Teyana Taylor Is Bringing The Fire

Throughout the image carousel above, you can find wool hats, jackets, t-shirts, and a variety of garments that go with the gorgeous new sneaker. Additionally, there are some cool logos happening here. From the “TT” with roses to the rose petals and the Jumpman in the middle, Teyana Taylor really thought this collection through. The “TT” rose logo will even come in the form of a pendant that can be placed on the front of the sneaker. Needless, Taylor has all of her bases covered. Overall, this is one of the best and most unique capsules from Jumpman in a minute.

According to Teyana Taylor herself, the collection, as well as the sneaker, will drop on June 1st. This means everything will be out as of next Thursday. Summer Walker Teases A One-Night-Only Show In Atlanta With Her Performance Coach, Teyana Taylor

Now that Summer Walker has released her new EP Clear 2: Soft Life, she’s begun to tease her shows promoting it alongside her new performance “coach,” Teyana Taylor. Walker shared a teaser video of the duo working on the choreography backstage to hype up her upcoming “one night only” show in Atlanta. Tickets for Summer Walker: The Clear Series—One Night Only go on general sale on Friday, May 26 at 10 am. Before that, the pre-sale runs from now until Friday at 9. A Live Nation presale will run from Thursday, May 25 at 10.

Fans were psyched to see the behind-the-scenes work, predicting that the collaboration would result in a huge step up for Walker after she Taylor previously worked with Latto on her Coachella set. “Teyana helping the girls raise the performance bar one by one,” one fan tweeted. Another noted, “Teyana Taylor doubling as a creative director + choreographer. Saving the industry one artist at a time.” One even suggested that watching Taylor work with artists would make for a great reality show.

The prevailing sentiment appears to be pride and approval for Taylor’s transition to her post-music roles after calling it quits on her singing career in 2021. After feeling underappreciated as an artist herself, it seems she’s really found her stride helping other artists’ careers — while also occasionally starring in films like White Men Can’t Jump and a planned Dionne Warwick biopic.
