This is a shoe that a lot of fans have been looking to get their hands on. After all, it is a shoe that is basic in its color scheme. You can never go wrong with a black and white sneaker. Furthermore, the Terror Squad graphics that are on the shoe certainly help to create a nostalgic feel for this model. It’s a shoe that has a lot of history behind it, and Fat Joe is certainly excited about his latest creation. So much so that he recently gave a pair to a former President.
As you can see in the video above, Fat Joe met President Bill Clinton at an event. He subsequently decided to give the former commander-in-chief a pair of Nike Air Force 1 Lows. Overall, Clinton seemed to be a bit taken aback by the gift, although he was definitely appreciative. On this date in 1998, Terror Squad general Fat Joe released his third full length album Don Cartagena on the Atlantic/Big Beat/Terror Squad imprint.
On his first “official” release of Terror Squad as a crew and label, Fat Joe garnered the support from his then TS crew Armageddon, Triple Seis, Cuban Link and new recruit standout Big Punisher to pull together a superstar-laden album that would catapult TS to an equal level of success. With Pun’s almost overnight stardom from the smash single “Still Not A Player”, it gave Joe the leeway to bring in the rest of the crew sans Remy Ma, who was in Bedford Hill Correctional Facility. Singles such as “Bet Ya Man Can’t (Triz)” and “The Hidden Hand” left fans looking for that Terror Squad album with the original cast members, but internal strife only allowed those tracks to bring those thoughts into fruition. The real album feature was of course the Ski-produced “John Blaze”, which featured Nas, Jadakiss, Raekwon and Pun, is still considered one of the greatest joint tracks ever laid.
The album’s commercial success reflected the response from the fans, being Joe’s first top ten Billboard 200 release, grabbing a A- from EW and selling 100,000 in its first week was right in line of the thinking of The Don. Within a month, Don Cartagena was certified gold by the RIAA.

DJ Khaled’s business moves are as vibrant as his music career. He’s launched a successful furniture line called We the Best Home, reflecting his penchant for luxury and style. During a recent interview, Fat Joe discussed his feud with 50 Cent. The artist says that he was shocked 50 Cent ever had the nerve to diss him, because he was feared at that point in his career. According to him, 50 Cent came at him due to his association with Ja Rule. “He just felt like I was giving him that strength,” he begins. “It was so brilliant because it was the shock and awe effect.”
“Although I worked for everything I got, although I never extorted nobody, although I didn’t bully nobody,” he continued, “I had the persona of New York Suge Knight. Like, y’know, people feared Fat Joe and the Terror Squad in that way, y’know? So for [50 Cent] talking about Fat Joe in the same city … the funeral homes was making bids.”
The artist continues, describing how due to both of their reputations, the feud couldn’t go “nowhere but violence.” Fat Joe says “thank God” they squashed the beef in light of Chris Lighty’s 2012 death, revealing that he and Fif are “the best of friends” now. “It was a very tense moment,” he explains, “it was almost like a suicide mission.”
Fat Joe goes on to claim that he learned a lot from his feud with 50 Cent, because he was the first person to actually come at him. “I had to adapt,” he reflects, “I had to learn how to not be impulsive.” He then describes the “growing pains” he experienced in learning how to navigate social media. “Social Media,” he explains, “it’s not for real real street guys. We just don’t know how to react on there.” The artist even adds that he thinks his crew coming into contact with 50 Cent at the 2012 BET Awards for a Chris Lighty tribute was a “set-up.” “His trailer was in front of ours,” he reveals, “Like come on, what [do you think is] gonna happen?”

In 2020, Fat Joe is recognized as one of the icons of NYC Hip Hop, however, back in 1993, Joe was knee-deep in the streets and having only appeared on Diggin’ In The Crates founder Diamond D’s Stunts, Blunts And Hip Hop album was fairly a newcomer to the rap game. With assistance from his DITC crew members Diamond, Lord Finesse, and Showbiz behind the boars, Joe formulated one of the most integral audible time capsules of the era. Tracks like the Beatnuts-powered “Shit Iz Real”, “You Must Be Out Of You Fuckin’ Mind” featuring the late Apache of the Flavor Unit and Kool G Rap and the premiere single “Flow Joe” were all foundational examples of the “Fat Joe Da Gangsta” persona that is now respected and celebrated in 2020.

Tony Yayo’s podcast tour is continuing. In an upcoming episode of Drink Champs, the G-Unit soldier revealed 50 Cent was not a fan of the song “Many Men” at first. Additional topics in the episode include the downfall of G-Unit, working alongside rappers, being wrapped up in 50 Cent’s many beefs, and more.
Previously, PistolPete linked up with G-Unit lieutenant Tony Yayo in the streets of NYC, giving props to each other— gangster to gangster.
With the rest of the G-Unit soldiers sporting TS baseball caps, Yayo recounts the 2006 beef with the BX-based crew headed by Fat Joe.
“Yo, the realest beef was with Terror Squad,” Tony Yayo said. “He was a real n-gga, I gotta give it up. The realest beef was with Fat Joe and them. We outside.” Pistol Pete resplied, “Tony Yayo, we fuck with you, though. We out here in the trenches, n-gga. We out here, fuck all that. We out here together, n-gga, a bunch of real n-ggas.”
Remy Ma is a prominent figure in the New York hip hop scene, consistently representing The Bronx in her music. Known for her tough demeanor and vicious rap style, she started her career as a protégé of the legendary Big Pun, eventually joining his Terror Squad collective. She appeared on two songs from Pun’s posthumous album, 2000’s Yeeeah Baby.
As a member of the Terror Squad, Remy Ma and Fat Joe released “Lean Back” in 2004, eventually becoming one of the most iconic hip hop songs of the 2000s. She was also on the famous remix of M.O.P.’s “Ante Up” with Busta Rhymes and Teflon. Following her debut album in 2007, Remy Ma ran into label troubles and disagreements with Fat Joe. Additionally, she spent six years in prison from 2008 to 2014. Though prison hindered Remy Ma’s visibility, she came back swinging. She has since appeared on Love & Hip Hop and married Papoose, becoming one of hip hop’s strongest power couples.
While Remy Ma has been a part of many impactful hip hop songs, her music catalog has gone underappreciated. While she only has one studio album to her name, Remy Ma has released several mixtapes and her reunion album with Fat Joe from 2017. 5. “Whuteva” (2005)
“Whuteva” was the first single from Remy Ma’s 2006 debut album, There’s Something About Remy: Based on a True Story. Much like her previous release and first-ever solo single, “Monster,” “Whuteva” is a collaboration with Swizz Beatz, one of the hottest hip hop producers at the time. Production from Swizz Beatz was almost a guaranteed hit back then. Much like many songs he produced at the time, Swizz plays the hype man role on the track, encouraging people to put their hands up on the song’s chorus. Much like “Lean Back,” the chorus on “Whuteva” instructs people to move. The song is riddled with New York slang and references, which became a key characteristic of Remy Ma’s rap style.
4. “Melanin Magic (Pretty Brown)” feat. Chris Brown (2018)
“Melanin Magic (Pretty Brown)” still remains as Remy Ma’s biggest post-prison solo single. The song is an empowering celebration of Black people, especially Black women. The song notably samples Mint Condition’s “Breakin My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes)” from 1991. The chorus from Chris Brown adds a soulful touch to the glamorous instrumental, contrasting nicely with Remy’s tough delivery.
A hook from Ne-Yo on a rap collaboration made for an automatic hit song back in the 2000s, and “Feels So Good” is further evidence of that. The single from Remy Ma’s There’s Something About Remy: Based on a True Story is a pretty standard rap/R&B duet but has aged quite gracefully because of Remy Ma’s rapping ability and Ne-Yo’s hitmaking vocals. “Feels So Good” did not enter the Billboard Hot 100 but charted on the Hot Hip Hop/R&B Songs, Hot Rap Songs, and Rhythmic charts.
2. “Conceited (There’s Something About Remy)” (2005)
“Conceited (There’s Something About Remy)” is the biggest single from Remy Ma’s debut album. Over a Scott Storch-produced instrumental reminiscent of “Lean Back.” Much like the title suggests, the song is quite conceited as Remy stunts on the listener. The song contains a few famous samples, including Right Said Fred’s “I’m Too Sexy” and Christina Millian’s “Dip It Low.” “Conceited (There’s Something About Remy)” was Remy Ma’s first solo single to appear on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
1. “All The Way Up” with Fat Joe feat. French Montana & Infrared (2016)
“All the Way Up” is easily the biggest hit song of Remy Ma’s career, released over 14 years after her debut single. It was Remy Ma’s first single to be released in ten years, following “Feels So Good.” The song was a comeback record for Remy Ma after her imprisonment. It marked her reunion with Fat Joe, serving as the lead single from their collaborative album, Plata O Plomo. The song is all about leveling up and achieving success, which made for the ultimate comeback song for Remy Ma. Fresh out of prison, she opens her verse with the lyric, “Just left the big house to a bigger house.”
The fact that “All the Way Up” is a collaboration with Fat Joe marked a full circle moment for their relationship, and features from French Montana and Infrared make the song a New York affair. The track is Remy Ma’s only Platinum single, first reaching the height in 2016 and now sitting at 3x Platinum status since 2021. It is also certified Gold in the UK and Platinum in France.
The Hip Hop community, specifically in the South Bronx, is saddened by the passing of one their unsung heroes, Terror Squad’s Charlie Rock LD, who died over the weekend.
Felix Delgado aka Charlie Rock LD was one of the founding members of TS, a Bronx-based collective which grew to include Fat Joe, Big Pun, Triple Seis, Cuban Link, Prospect, Armageddon, Tony Sunshine, Remy Ma and DJ Khaled.
At 18 years old, Charlie received a 10-20 year sentence “for not rattin on my homie,” as he explains. He also claims that he got into a prison “shank fight defending Fat Joe.”
Cuban Link first announced Rock’s passing with a post on social media, saying, “Rest in peace to the big homey Charlie rock l .d dam homey we had alot left to do out here may god rest your soul .”
