Isaiah Rashad Hints That He Finished His Next Album Amid Social Media Fanfare

Fans have been waiting for a new Isaiah Rashad album since 2021’s The House Is Burning, and it looks like we might be right around the corner with it. Moreover, NFR Podcast recently posted an alleged text message from him in which he talks about wrapping up the process for his fourth LP. “S**t crazy [unamused face emoji],” the TDE rapper expressed. “Like I’m tryna finish strong so I’m finishing strong type s**t. Really proud of the production. Really proud of the words this round.” While this doesn’t outright confirm that he finished the album, it does suggest that he’s almost done with it, or at least is in its final stages.

Of course, this isn’t the only recent update that Isaiah Rashad has offered about his next studio record. Back in May, he shared with concert-goers for his Cilvia Demo 10th anniversary trek that it will probably drop this year, and as the window for that closes, fans were very excited to get this alleged text message update. “I might change the title of it but I’m working on my fourth project,” Zay expressed in Dallas. “I don’t know, like, probably later on this year. Most likely.”

Isaiah Rashad Suggests He’s Finishing His Next Album

As for what caused the gap between this new album and The House Is Burning, we have no idea. But it’s shorter than THIB‘s distance from 2016’s The Sun’s Tirade, whose space was due to a rehab stint. “I was doing whatever I could to escape,” he told The FADER back in 2021. “I admittedly liked the feeling of being numb. Everything that ain’t good for me. Being out in L.A. without anything anchoring me down f***ed me up. You can float off out here. You can get lost in this b***h. I was going through some petty tortured s**t: from rehab to going all the way f***ing broke. Instead of leaping buildings, I was just like, ‘Nah, I’m going to just stay in the crib.’ The responsibility was just too scary.”

Meanwhile, we know that Isaiah Rashad is a big fan of what his current and former label mates have been up to this year. During a concert this year, he played Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” to close the show out, and you can probably guess how wild the audience went in late May. Hopefully the Tennessee native adds to that canon this year, although we won’t complain about a 2025 arrival.

ScHoolboy Q Gives Doechii Her Flowers For Her New Mixtape

Doechii’s new mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal is probably the best project you’ll hear this week, and the Internet is absolutely loving it. Fans new and old are giving this record its due praise, expressing even more excitement for her career and for her next big splash. Moreover, the TDE signee got love from a lot of her hip-hop peers and from her label mates themselves, such as a recent tweet from ScHoolboy Q. “Just Here to say DOEcHii… dats all I care about at da moment,” he expressed. Many listeners certainly share that sentiment, with many remarking that we can expect some amazing things from her next album if this is just the mixtape stuff.

As such, Doechii is one of those rare careers in which the hype cycle around her only continues to grow rather than fall into question with each subsequent release. It’s definitely a lot of pressure, and one that many of her femcee peers are even more subjected to due to how fast their rises to fame are in public perception. But the “BOOM BAP” lyricist is different in that she seems to gain more fans with each move, developing her artistry and showing off her versatility with ease. These are even clear lyrical themes on Alligator Bites Never Heal, so we know that she is just as cognizant of this expectation.

ScHoolboy Q Praises Doechii’s Alligator Bites Never Heal

But where other artists would rather replicate and retread, Doechii occupies multiple lanes and can make a hit out of a wealth of skills and talents. This is especially the case for her Swamp Sessions series, in which various songs display the sheer hunger and creativity beneath. “NISSAN ALTIMA” and “FLORIDA WATA” are easy standouts, and should be a part of any deep dive into this catalog.

Meanwhile, Doechii may have gotten ScHoolboy Q’s love this time around, but he doesn’t always take to social media to praise another celebrity (although that will probably always be the case for his label mate). Most recently, he took issue with Michael Rubin’s comments about Black culture on The Breakfast Club. It was a pretty controversial albeit well-meaning moment, so it’s no surprise that Q wanted to chime in. Hopefully, he finds more reasons to be happy and supportive on social media, because that’s what we all should do when antics and controversies don’t get in the way. In any case, stream Alligator Bites Never Heal, and you won’t want to fight online anymore.

5 Things We Want On Jay Rock’s Next Album

Top Dawg Entertainment’s packed release schedule for 2024 is officially underway, with a new album from ScHoolboy Q arriving this week. Last month, the label teased a list of artists on their roster expected to drop albums this year. In addition to ScHoolboy Q’s Blue Lips, fans can hope for new projects from the likes of SZA, Isaiah Rashad, SiR, Ab-Soul, and Doechii, as well as a TDE compilation. There is also Jay Rock, the label’s very first signee who has not released a new album in nearly six years.

Outside of ScHoolboy Q, Rock’s album is arguably the most anticipated. 2018’s Redemption marks his longest gap between releases, and expectations have continued to rise with each of the four singles that he shared throughout 2023. As TDE kicks off its stacked calendar of releases, here are 5 things we want on Jay Rock’s next album.

No Skips

Based on the latest singles that Jay Rock has dropped, his next album is already sounding promising. Standards may be high, but Rock has generally been consistent in delivering quality projects. Last year, he spoke to Bootleg Kev during BET Weekend, promising an album with “no skips.” “I’m tryna do an album like my last one where you ain’t gotta skip sh*t,” he expressed. Previous projects like Redemption and 90059 featured concise tracklists with runtimes of under one hour, leaving minimal room for error. This time, we are hoping that Jay Rock’s album is true to his word, containing no skips.

Sharp Lyricism

Sharp lyricism is almost guaranteed when it comes to a Jay Rock album. Fans can rely on him for skillfully crafted bars, and so can artists. In the time since Redemption, Jay Rock contributed standout verses to songs from Lil Wayne, Vince Staples, Anderson .Paak, Isaiah Rashad, and Reason. Each of these features showed Rock’s skillset has not at all diminished. Both his guest verses and latest singles signify that we can expect some top-tier lyricism from Jay Rock.

West Coast Bangers

One can always count on Jay Rock to deliver West Coast bangers on his albums. From “Hood Gone Love It” to “Tap Out,” he always brings his neighborhood of Watts into his music. Each of the singles he has released for his upcoming album has been exciting, but the most quintessentially West Coast track of the bunch is “Too Fast (Pull Over).” The Mustard-produced track features standout verses from Anderson .Paak and Latto. On the song, the three flow over a fast-paced West Coast funk beat laced with trumpet and steel drums. Judging by that song and other singles like “Still That Way,” we’re hoping for more energetic West Coast tracks.

More Moments Of Introspection

Jay Rock might be known for his aggressive delivery and tough bars, but some of his best lyrics are embedded within his most transparent songs. Songs like “Fly on the Wall,” “Broke +-,” and “Redemption” stand out on their respective albums as they see Rock at his most vulnerable. His projects usually balance upbeat gangsta rap songs with poetic moments of introspection, as well as plenty of storytelling. With those expectations in mind, let’s hope that Jay Rock provides some more smooth and reflective songs on his next album.

Black Hippy Feature

With most of the TDE roster slated to release albums this year, fans are optimistic for some of Jay Rock’s labelmates to feature on his upcoming album. More specifically, they hope for contributions from his fellow Black Hippy members, or ideally, an entire Black Hippy reunion. Jay Rock recently addressed the group’s current status on TMZ. He said that “we still doing our thing” and that every member is on good terms. However, he mentioned that “everybody’s busy” and on their own schedule in regards to doing more music. “The timing’s gotta be right,” he said.

Leaving the door open for a possible reunion, a Jay Rock album would be the perfect opportunity for Black Hippy to reconnect. Jay Rock tapped Ab-Soul for one of his album’s latest singles, “Blowfly.” While the chances of a potential reunion are unpredictable, especially with Kendrick Lamar’s departure from Top Dawg Entertainment, fans would rejoice over a Black Hippy song on Jay Rock’s next album.

ScHoolboy Q Spazzes On Third “BLUE LIPS” Single “Yeern 101”

ScHoolboy Q has been on absolute fire over the past month or so. The veteran California MC from Top Dawg Entertainment is about two and a half weeks away from returning with his sixth LP. BLUE LIPS is due on March 1 and based on what we have seen and heard; this is shaping up to be Q’s best record to date. One of the reasons why is because of the two pack he put out on February 6. “Back n Love” and “Blueslides” were both excellent tracks that offered contrasting pace and soundscapes.

If you follow ScHoolboy on Instagram, he shared a short teaser a couple of days ago. He captioned the post, “Yeern 101 tHursday…… I’m dope at stuff.” The video contained some snippets of recording sessions and music video sets. However, it did not prepare us for “Yeern 101” itself.

Listen To “Yeern 101” By ScHoolboy Q

We are so happy it did not, because going in knowing nothing about the track only made it sound better. “Yeern 101” features Q rapping his behind off like the rent was due. Cardo handles the production and brings a rumbling beat that has a big presence to it that is not too overwhelming on the ears. What is also a plus about this track is that it is available on DSPs. The same cannot be said about the previous two songs. Q just continues to impress and “Yeern 101” has just elevated our expectations even higher.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Yeern 101” by ScHoolboy Q? Is this the best single from BLUE LIPS? Will this be Q’s best album ever, why or why not? Is this the most exciting upcoming TDE release this year? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding ScHoolboy Q and BLUE LIPS. Finally, stay with us for the most informative song posts throughout the week.

F*** it, I’ma get it off first, from the way you ain’t surf
You b**** n****s lookin’ all hurt, funny ’til your ego got nerfed

Jay Rock Says TDE Compilation Is Coming Soon With Most Of Black Hippy

Jay Rock’s coming out with a new album soon, but that’s not everything that he’s looking forward to when it comes to new releases. Moreover, he recently responded to an interviewer’s question about whether there will be a Black Hippy feature on his new album with an even more exciting prospect. For those unaware, Black Hippy is the Top Dawg Entertainment supergroup comprised of Jay Rock, Ab-Soul, ScHoolboy Q, and Kendrick Lamar. While the California MC didn’t respond to his album particularly, he did relay some brand-new teases about an upcoming project that aims to celebrate the label’s 20-year history in the game.

“I mean, I can tell you this,” Jay Rock expressed, seemingly at TDE’s tenth annual holiday concert. “I know we doing the compilation album. You know, TDE for 20 years, you know what I mean? It’s been 20 years since TDE been in the game, you know what I’m saying? So we putting together a compilation album, so we should be dropping that at the top of the year. I don’t know how many songs we’re going to put on there, but we got a majority of Black Hippy on that thing. So make sure y’all check it out, it’s on the way. The TDE compilation album, you know what I mean?”

Jay Rock On TDE Compilation Album

As such, it looks like endless rumors about this group’s status yield more promising results. That being said, Jay Rock’s answer here still leaves a lot of question marks behind, which only gets fans more excited and anxious to see the final product. For one, it seems like at least one of the aforementioned MCs won’t be on here, presumably Kendrick since he left the label not too long ago. On the other hand, it’s unclear if this will compile older or previously released material or if it’s brand-new songs from this crew. Either way, we’re sure die-hards will love to dive in.

Meanwhile, are you looking forward to the “Still That Way” spitter’s upcoming new album? What about this TDE compilation? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments section down below. Also, log back into HNHH for the latest news and updates on Jay Rock and TDE.
