Lil Nas X’s Tampon Halloween Costume Gets Backlash, Has This Bold Response To Haters

Just like every other year, 2023 held plenty of absurdly viral, talked-about, and controversial Halloween costumes in the celebrity world. However, none seemed to garner as much negative or positive attention than Lil Nas X’s choice to dress up as a bloody tampon connected by a string to a huge, fake… well, you know. Moreover, he got a lot of flack for this fit due to its lewd or explicit nature, what many interpreted as a comical treatment of a real health product, or portraying a negative view of women. If you’ve heard the Georgia native’s music in any capacity, you know he’s not about any of that, and he took to Twitter on Wednesday (November 1) to make this clear.

“I been silent for nearly 2 years,” Lil Nas X expressed on the social media platform. Then, he made a bold claim about people not actually being angry about the costume and just overblowing their reaction. “Y’all are not finna pretend to be mad about a tampon costume. Let me at least get new music out first.” Overall, the MONTERO star isn’t buying the backlash coming from prudes, and doesn’t even think he has the space in pop culture right now to warrant such an overreaction.

Lil Nas X Defends His Tampon Costume: Read

In more ways than one, he is quite justified in his defense and emotions, particularly about his silence. It’s been a couple of years of relatively low-key movement for Lil Nas X, mostly comprising of shows, promo opportunities, and popping out for other celebrities. Still, it seems like that might change very soon due to very unfortunate circumstances. After someone called in a bomb threat at his new documentary’s premiere, he hit the studio after feeling inspired by it.

Meanwhile, that claim comes from the film Long Live Montero‘s co-director, Carlos López Estrada. Considering this response to the tampon costume, it shouldn’t be all too surprising of a revelation for fans. Hopefully he can let go of some of the clapbacks and stay silently but defiantly focused on himself, his career, and his own dreams and desires. Cardi B Called Out For Tampon String Wardrobe Malfunction

Cardi B has been catching a lot of flack for her actions in Las Vegas as of late. As you will recall, Cardi whipped a microphone at someone’s head over the weekend. Overall, this was a pretty bad look as it appeared as though she hit the wrong person. Although she was simply retaliating after someone threw a drink at her, she got the wrong person. In the eyes of social media, this was an offense that is hard to get away with. This is especially true now that a police investigation is ongoing.

Despite the incident, Cardi has remained in Las Vegas as she has a residency there. She has continued her string of performances and has not shied away from the spotlight. Unfortunately, she is being called out yet again, this time for another performance blunder. Although this latest one has more to do with her wardrobe than anything else. Thankfully for you, the reader, the “wardrobe malfunction” is a bit too NSFW to show you. However, we can at least describe it.

Someone who was filming the concert captured a moment in which Cardi B approached the edge of the stage. She was wearing a short skirt with some yellow fringe dangling off of it. However, once she made her way to the crowd, fans noticed that she wasn’t wearing any underwear. Typically, this would not be a massive deal. Although, it appeared as though Cardi had a tampon string dangling that was clearly visible from the crowd’s perspective. Subsequently, the clip made it to Twitter, and her biggest haters are calling her out.

Tiger Woods Apologizes For Tampon Prank

Tiger Woods recently apologized for a tampon prank on Justin Thomas on Thursday (February 16) during the Genesis Invitational. Moreover, the golf billionaire slipped Thomas a tampon into his hand when the latter failed to outdrive him. While Woods said that it was all in good fun, he expressed that he didn’t realize how others might take offense. He explained to reporters that “it was supposed to be all fun and games and obviously it hasn’t turned out that way. If I offended anybody, it was not the case, it was just friends having fun.”

Furthermore, many took issue with the 47-year-old’s prank, calling it juvenile and potentially disrespectful. After all, many could interpret this as Woods establishing his manhood over Thomas or insinuating some gendered bias. However, both laughed at the prank, and many online believe Tiger has no reason to apologize. “Luv yew @TigerWoods,” one user wrote on Twitter. “Everyone offended stinks. There’s no way real people were offended. Only fake Twitter offended.” On the other hand, others expressed confusion over why this specific instance shook people. Of course, people draw their own personal lines, but even socially progressive folks raised their eyebrows a bit.

Still, plenty of people voiced reasonable criticism of the prank and brought up Tiger’s relationship history. “Sports commentators laughing, and the fact that Tiger Woods had the tampon in his pocket, ready for the right moment to disrespect women, again,” one tweeter expressed. “Yeah, I guess Tiger might want to get a refresher on all that therapy he had after his first wife discovered what his other hobby was.” Another wrote, “Tiger Woods handing a tampon as a form of trash talk between friends on or off tv was offensive and he should have apologized. If you’re wondering ‘WhO wAs OfFeNdEd’ it’s me. We can talk about it too.”

Overall, it’s another case of both opinions clashing strongly, quickly, and antagonistically on social media. For what it’s worth, Woods actually seemed quite choked up during his apology.
