SZA Just Dropped A Pair Of ‘SOS’ Outtakes, Including The Much Anticipated ‘PSA’

SZA‘s latest album, SOS is maintaining its hype into the new year. Nearly a month after its release, the album has sat at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for three consecutive weeks. Today (January 5), SZA shared a new version of the album with some outtakes.

One of the songs was “PSA,” which she previously teased in a video clip she shared on social media.

“I don’t want nobody callin’ me anything but number one / Know I got problems, I don’t know how to take losses / Even when, even when they are lost causes / I waste my energy plenty, serve me to bury my envy, but / I’d rather chase it in Henny / I’d rather pay you in pennies,” she sings on the dreamy, harp-driven track.

Additionally, she shared the solo version of “Open Arms.” The version on the standard edition features Travis Scott, but on the solo version, she swaps out Scott’s verse with a third verse of her own.

“I don’t want to hear you trying / I just spent the whole night crying / I’d rather just f*ck on my ex / At least he still loves me for who I am,” she sings on the new verse.

As of now, the new songs are not yet on streaming platforms, and only available for purchase through SZA’s website. In addition to the new songs, fans will get the album’s original 23 tracks, as well as alternate cover art.

SZA Speaks On How Getting Bullied In High School Inspired Who She Is Today: ‘[It] Made Me Into Who I Am’

sza

SZA is arguably the biggest R&B artist in the world, having released her sophomore album SOS which has spent the last 3 weeks atop the Billboard Hot 200. Despite her meteoric popularity, SZA revealed that hasn’t always been the case.

SZA revealed in a recent interview with People magazine that she called her high school experience “shitty,” and was bullied because of her “awkwardness.”

“I was bullied because I wasn’t quiet and I was awkward at the same time,” the SZA said. “I wasn’t this tiny sad victim, but I was more so attacked just because it was giving ‘What is wrong with you?’ energy.”

However, she went on to say that her frequent bullying inspired who she is today. “I always thought, ‘Oh my God.’ I’ll never have the approval of anyone in life, this must be my defining factor, this must be the bottom line.”

“I realized that all the things that made me feel so lame were actually what made me into who I am. It’s like, I didn’t go to prom because I didn’t have any friends and I had no one to go to prom with … [and now] it’s so weird that my life turned into [having] a bodyguard while traveling to parties.”

She continued, “all these things, if I had such a fulfilling existence and experience in high school, I would’ve felt validated to the point where I didn’t need to do anymore. [So] I just had to do more, I had to be more because I was like, ‘This shitty experience can’t be the end of it because if it is, I am cooked.’”

Those who bullied SZA in high school are probably punching the air right now. The 33-year-old singer’s sophomore album SOS sold 318,000 copies in its first week of release, making it the biggest R&B release of 2022. Her SOS tour was also announced and tickets went on sale in mid-December and quickly sold out.

SZA Was Bullied In High School, But Now She Thinks That Played A Major Role In Her Success Today

Today, SZA is one of the most successful musical artists we have, as evidenced by SOS being the No. 1 album in the country right now. Years ago, though, she was just a high school student facing bullying. Today, SZA actually credits that experience with giving her the drive necessary to achieve all that she has.

In a new interview with People, SZA explained, “I was bullied because I wasn’t quiet and I was awkward at the same time. I wasn’t this tiny sad victim, but I was more so attacked just because it was giving ‘What is wrong with you?’ energy. I always thought, ‘Oh my God.’ I’ll never have the approval of anyone in life, this must be my defining factor, this must be the bottom line.”

She continued:

“I realized that all the things that made me feel so lame were actually what made me into who I am,” she says. “It’s like, I didn’t go to prom because I didn’t have any friends and I had no one to go to prom with. […] It’s so weird that my life turned into [having] a bodyguard while traveling to parties. All these things, if I had such a fulfilling existence and experience in high school, I would’ve felt validated to the point where I didn’t need to do anymore. I just had to do more, I had to be more, because I was like, ‘This sh*tty experience can’t be the end of it because if it is, I am cooked.’ “

SZA Chooses “Kill Bill” & “Nobody Gets Me” As First “S.O.S” Singles For Radio

It’s been nearly a month since SZA blessed us with her new album, and it’s still in rotation. The latest from the TDE songstress emerged at the top of December following demands from fans. Although she frequently expressed her frustrations with her label and the music industry at large, the album’s outcome was certainly worth the wait.

After spending a third week atop the Billboard 200, her team reportedly chose the first two singles for radio. According to Hip-Hop N More, SZA’s “Nobody Gets Me” and the fan-favorite, “Kill Bill,” will be pushed to radio. The latter currently stands at the #1 spot on Spotify’s Global charts. Plus, she also hinted at a music video for the single.

2023 is evidently starting off on the right note for SZA and it appears that this momentum will continue throughout the year. SZA revealed plans to hit the road this February alongside Omar Apollo. However, the upcoming run will be particularly special for the CTRL singer since it’s her first arena tour. SZA’s heading across North America — including two dates in Canada — beginning in Columbus, Ohio. From there, she’ll head out to major cities like Chicago, NYC, ATL. Finally, she’ll close out the tour in Los Angeles.

Despite the anticipations surrounding the project and the success that followed its release, SZA had her doubts surrounding the project. She explained that she wasn’t sure if the public was going to embrace her growth and maturity as an artist.

“It’s my first album in five years, so I’m ready to be a different person and step into this new part of my life,” she explained to PEOPLE. “Really exemplify who this character is and get to know myself better while everyone else gets to know me live at the same time.”

Regardless, SZA did her thing on S.O.S and we’re excited to hear what her live show will consist of.

SZA & “S.O.S.” Producer ThankGof4Cody Enjoy Hawaii Vacation

Rumors have begun to swirl about SZA and it doesn’t have anything to do with her music. The New Jersey-bred singer has been riding high after the success of her latest effort, S.O.S. SZA’s sophomore album arrived in all its glory last month and has been sitting pretty atop the Billboard 200 chart for three weeks. It seems only fitting that the singer enjoys a much-needed vacation, and the paparazzi spotted her in Hawaii.

However, it doesn’t look like SZA was flying solo. The Top Dawg Entertainment songbird has ThankGod4Cody, real name Cody Jordan Fayne, by her side as she frolicked on the beach. Fayne not only work on seven songs for S.O.S., but he was also instrumental in helping deliver SZA’s debut album, Ctrl.

In photographs shared by TMZ, SZA donned a pink and white bikini as she showed off her curves. Fayne was by her side, and without fail, the singer’s fans immediately began speculating about the pair’s relationship status. They took note of how carefree and happy SZA looked in the pictures.

Whatever the case may be, the singer is keeping her private life…well…private, at least for the time being. Although it has been alleged that SZA has dated fellow celebrities from Drake to Kehlani, the singer’s personal life, for the most part, remains a mystery.

Meanwhile, SZA did share some highlights from her Hawaiian vacation—sans ThankGod4Cody—including a shot of her backside that took over the internet.

“3 weeks at number one fully minding my business n not giving a f*ck . Thank God🤍,” she wrote in the caption of her series of photos.

SZA Shows Off Her Booty As “S.O.S” Holds Onto #1 Spot For Three Weeks Straight

SZA finally arrived with her second studio album, S.O.S in December. The singer didn’t disappoint, which clearly reflected on the charts. SZA’s new album currently holds the #1 spot for the third week in a row, bearing out plenty of holiday releases.

Shortly after selling 128,000 in her third week, SZA blessed the ‘Gram with new heat in the form of a thirst trap. The singer shared a short video of herself wearing a bikini bottom as she showed off her booty. From the looks of it, SZA is either on the set of a photo or video shoot so perhaps, we’ll catch this particular look in some new visuals.

“3 weeks at number one fully minding my business n not giving a fuck . Thank God,” she captioned the photo dump, including the thirst trap.

Of course, the picture had everyone talking, especially after she addressed plastic surgery rumors on her new album. As many speculated whether she went under the knife, she appeared to confirm the gossip.

“Talkin’ I’m off the bench like Brady, I’m pressin’ n***** like KD, it’s up,” she sings on the titular song. “Remind you of Dеlla Reese. So classic, that ass so fat, it look natural, it’s not”.

She also addressed the matter again on “Conceited” where she shrugged off everyone’s opinion about her body.

“I don’t like nobody, I don’t feel guilty about it/ I just got my body done, ain’t got no guilt about it/ I just heard your opinion, I could’ve did without it,” she sings.

2023 is evidently off to a great start for SZA but it will certainly only get better from here. The singer is set to launch the North American leg of her upcoming tour in February, beginning in Colombus, OH. From there, she’ll hit cities like Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Vancouver, and Toronto. Then, she’ll be closing things out in L.A. on March 22nd.

SZA’s “SOS” Album Takes Billboard’s Number One Spot For Third Week

Since SZA dropped her highly-anticipated album SOS last month, the Grammy-winning singer has continued to see it reach new heights.

Earlier this week, Billboard reported that the new album was number one on the Billboard 200 chart for the third week in a row, making it clear that fans are still loving the 23-track project.

Songs like “Kill Bill,” “Smoking on my Ex Pack,” and “Ghost in the Machine” were a few clear standouts on SOS. Last week, SZA’s label Top Dawg Entertainment dropped a music video teaser for “Kill Bill,” showing the St. Louis native on a motorcycle and swinging a sword in the Quentin Tarantino-themed visual.

SZA also announced her upcoming tour late last year. Stopping in Philadelphia, New York City, Chicago, Dallas, and Inglewood, the North American tour also includes Toronto and Vancouver.

On ideas that she has to offer fans on the tour, which kicks off in February, the “Supermodel” singer told Rolling Stone, “I just wanna give them the craziest experience they could ever have and play whatever they want. Whether it’s unreleased songs that they thought they heard on the internet, or their favorite album cuts or f**king deep cuts from 2012, I don’t care. I just wanna give them what they deserve and make it beautiful.”

“That’s my biggest goal, and I’m really excited and there’s nothing I enjoy more than being on stage and performing,” SZA continued. “It’s way different than this whole like, putting out shit on streaming and then watching people yell about it on Twitter. It’s way more human and it really makes it all worthwhile.”

According to Chart Data on Twitter, SOS is also currently number one on the US iTunes chart.

SZA is starting 2023 on top: SOS, her highly anticipated and highly successful sophomore album, dropped on December 9, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart dated December 24, and she hasn’t relinquished the position.

According to Billboard, SOS has logged its third consecutive week at No. 1 on the chart dated January 7, with 128,000 equivalent album US units earned during the week ending on December 29. Last week, SZA teased a video for “Kill Bill” to reward her fans for making the track her first career No. 1 on Billboard‘s Streaming Songs chart and second career Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart No. 1.
