French Montana Officially Has The Most-Streamed Song From New York

New York contains many of the most important figures in rap history and some of its biggest stars today. From veterans like Nas and Jay-Z to contemporary stars like Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice the city has been home to some of the biggest names to ever pick up a mic. That’s why many are surprised by the new most-streamed rap song to come from NYC, “Unforgettable” by French Montana. Montana recently received a variety of new certifications on various songs of his including a platinum certification for the 2017 single.

The song recently surpassed the 2 billion stream threshold on Spotify, a rare feat for any artist to achieve. It landed on Montana’s 2017 album Jungle Rules and has racked up more streams than the rest of the songs on the album combined. The song sports a feature from Swae Lee, who was blossoming into a white hot superstar in 2017. Many fans think he played a much bigger role in the songs success than just a mere assist. “This should be Swae Lee ft. French” one of the top comments on a post announcing the news reads. “The most streamed song out of New York got carried by n*gga from Mississippi” another comment agrees. Check out the reactions to the announcement below.

French Montana And Swae Lee Break New York Streaming Record

French Montana may not be able to do the same streaming numbers he used to, which is why he resulted to some controversial tactics earlier this year. Just a few weeks later he claimed that streaming has brainwashed artists.

What do you think of French Montana now having the most-streamed rap song in New York’s history? Do you think Swae Lee plays a bigger role to the songs success than Montana does? Let us know in the comment section below.

Kendrick Lamar Falls Just Short Of Breaking Drake’s Spotify Streaming Record

Earlier this week, Kendrick Lamar pulled off the incredibly impressive feat of breaking one of Drake’s streaming records with a literal Drake diss track. His song “Not Like Us” broke the record previously held by Drake’s Certified Lover Boy opener “Champagne Poetry.’ The record itself was for the most streams by of any solo rap song on Spotify in a single day. But Drake also holds plenty of other Spotify records. One of which is the most streams in a single day for any rap song.

The track that holds the crown is his collaboration with Lil Bay “Girls Like Girls.” That track also lands on Drake’s 2021 album Certified Lover Boy and racked up 12.385 million streams in a single day. The song went viral the moment it dropped largely due to one particular lyrics where Drake calls himself a lesbian. “Not Like Us” the same song that broke “Champagne Poetry’s” record nearly also broke the overall record. When all was said and done it came up just 5000 streams short of stealing the crown of most streamed rap song in a single day in Spotify history. Check out the full report from Chart Data below.

Kendrick Lamar Comes Within 5k Streams Of Drake’s Record

Big numbers have been the story of the entire Kendrick and Drake beef. Both of the songs that kicked it off “First Person Shooter” and “Like That” debuted at number one on the Hot 100. The former even spent a full three weeks at the top spot. It now ranks among Kendrick’s top 10 biggest hits of his career on the Hot 100. It could end up being surpassed by one or both of “euphoria” and “Not Like Us.” The former is expected to challenge for number one next week. The later will challenge for the top spot the week after.

What do you think of Kendrick Lamar almost breaking multiple Spotify records held by Drake with a diss track against him? Do you think the pair are done with their beef or will they release more songs at some point? Let us know in the comment section below.

Kendrick Lamar Breaks One Of Drake’s Spotify Records With A Drake Diss Track

The Kendrick Lamar and Drake beef has resulted in some absolutely cutting moves by both artists. But Kendrick may have just beaten Drake at his own game. Drizzy holds MANY Spotify records having been the most commercially dominant rapper around for almost the entire time the streaming platform has existed. He previously held the record for the most single-day streams by any solo rap song with the opening track to his Certified Lover Boy album “Champagne Poetry.” But that record is officially a thing of the past.

Amid a sea of diss tracks with a much more serious tone, Kendrick dropped the hard-hitting DJ Mustard-produced “Not Like Us.” The song has the potential to be one of the biggest hits of the summer. It’s getting off to an extraordinary start. As Chart Data reports, “Not Like Us” just broke the record formerly held by “Champagne Poetry.” It now has the most streams by a solo rap song in any single day. It’s one of a number of achievements the song has made already, performing particularly well on Spotify. Next week the track is expected to challenge for the top spot on the Hot 100.

Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” Breaks Spotify Record

Fans have been breaking down all the details of “Not Like Us” and all the diss tracks both rappers have dropped. Lamar received praise online for lifting copyright protections from his tracks. That allowed rap fans and content creators online to make money off of their videos reacting to and discussing the beef. Things have finally slowed down in the past few days with no new tracks being dropped. That’s allowed many in the hip hop space to start making declarations about who is the overall winner of the beef so far.

What do you think of Kendrick Lamar breaking one of Drake’s own records with a diss track aimed at him? Do you think “not like us” will turn into a stable hit going into the summer? Let us know in the comment section below.

Mariah Carey Shatters Spotify’s Single-Day Streaming Record

Mariah Carey has once again broken Spotify’s single-day streaming record. Users streamed “All I Want For Christmas” more than 23.7 million times on Christmas Eve, shattering the record Carey herself set last year by more than 2.6 million. This has become a regular occurrence, with Carey topping her own record year-on-year since 2020. The song continues to be one of the holiday’s defining singles, despite turning 30 next year.

However, Carey did lose a different battle. While she has traditionally dominated the pre-Christmas charts, this year saw Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time in the song’s history. Despite losing her top spot, Carey was humble enough to send Lee flowers and a congratulatory note for the accomplishment. “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” originally came out in 1958.

Nick Cannon, Ex Of Mariah Carey, Visits Children’s Hospital

Meanwhile, Carey’s ex has been spreading some Christmas cheer of his own. Nick Cannon swung by a California children’s hospital to bring some Christmas cheer to the kids spending the holidays away from home. The multi-hyphenate performer dressed as Santa and distributed presents across the wards. Furthermore, he dedicated the visit to his late son Zen, who passed away from cancer two years ago. “Zens’s Light shinning bright for the holidays!! Thank you to the Children’s Hospital of Orange County and everyone who made the day so loving, warm and memorable.🙏🏾❤,” Cannon wrote on Instagram.

Of course, it’s not been a wholly joyful Christmas for Cannon. Cannon was seemingly absent from Brittany Bell’s Christmas card photos. All of her children with Cannon were present, but not Cannon himself. However, on Cannon’s Instagram, it’s clear that he was present at the photo shoot. It’s unclear why Bell excluded Cannon from the shoot. However, it sparked rumors that the pair are currently beefing. However, many people were supportive of Bell’s decision. “I love how it’s always just her and the kids,” one commenter wrote on social media.
