LeBron James sported his new LeBron 22 signature Nike kicks during a Team USA Olympic practice. Perfect setting if you ask us. Plenty of press to snap shots, and why not test out his new drip while cooking his teammates on the court.

LeBron donned his latest signature shoes in a patriotic colorway of white, navy blue, and red. The LeBron 22, fully revealed, maintains the low-cut silhouette seen in the previous two models, adhering to a design that complements LeBron’s evolving game focused on efficiency.

LeBron’s kicks in action was posted on Nice Kicks @nicekicks X account.

Bron has consistently sported a new signature Nike basketball shoe every season since his debut with the Nike Air Zoom Generation in 2003, leading up to the LeBron 21 worn this past season.

Shoe designer Jason Petrie added a creative touch to the Swoosh logo on the LeBron 22, incorporating it into the upper with a cut-out overlay, reminiscent of the Air Zoom Generation. The sneaker “draws design elements” from last year’s LeBron 21 and features a Team USA colorway, aligning with LeBron’s goal to secure a third Olympic gold medal.

Even though Nike hasn’t announced an official release date for the LeBron 22, Ali Alba from House of Heat indicated that it is expected to launch during the holiday season later this year. So rest assume they are on the way.

NBA’s Landmark Agreement with Amazon Prime and NBC Reportedly Not Matched by TNT in Announcement From League

image

Looks like the “Inside the NBA” swan song is around the corner. NBC and Amazon have secured a landmark deal with the NBA to carry games, in a significant shift from previous arrangements.

This mega deal follows TNT’s last ditch efforts to retain its broadcast rights. Although TNT’s parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery, claimed it matched Amazon’s offer, the NBA disagreed and opted for Amazon’s 11-year, $1.8 billion annual contract.

Here’s what the NBA said in a statement:

”Warner Bros. Discovery’s most recent proposal did not match the terms of Amazon Prime Video’s offer, and therefore, we have entered into a long-term arrangement with Amazon. Our new arrangement with Amazon supports our goal by complementing the broadcast, cable, and streaming packages that are already part of our new Disney and NBCUniversal arrangements. All three partners have also committed substantial resources to promote the league and enhance the fan experience.”

Get this, TNT Sports responded by asserting its contractual right to match offers and accused the NBA of misinterpreting their agreement. Sounds like legal entanglements are en route but who’s to say. But TNT certainly vowed to take appropriate action while continuing to broadcast the NBA on TNT and Max.

NBC’s return to NBA coverage marks a notable comeback, having previously carried NBA games from 1990-2002. Breaking down the coverage, NBC, ESPN, and Amazon will all hold broadcast rights starting with the 2025-26 season. ESPN and ABC will retain primary coverage, including the NBA Finals.

Amazon’s new package is robust and desirable. It includes rights to six conference finals over the 11-year contract, the NBA Cup, play-in games, and Thursday night regular season games post-NFL coverage. This differs from TNT’s current package, which features Tuesday and Thursday night games, All-Star weekend, and playoff games through the Western Conference finals.

Despite the new deals, TNT will continue to broadcast NBA games through the 2025 Western Conference finals. At least they have a little while to go before the hammer comes down.

“Inside the NBA,” hosted by Ernie Johnson, Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith, and Shaquille O’Neal, remains a staple of TNT’s coverage. Johnson has indicated he won’t leave TNT, while Barkley has considered various options, including retirement. That would be unfortunate for a lot of fans who really tune in just to see those guys talk shop and have fun.

Gilbert Arenas Goes on Xenophobic Rant About the South Sudan Olympic Squad After Team USA Nearly Loses Exhibition Game

Screen Shot 2024 07 22 at 12.27.44 PM

No Chill Gilbert Arenas is under fire, once again, this time for going on a wild xenophobic rant about the South Sudan basketball team following Team USA’s near defeat in a recent exhibition game.

What’s crazy about this beyond what comes off as xenophobia and what some are calling straight up racism, is South Sudan BALLED OUT. They showed up despite the fact that these young brothers are mostly living in different parts of the world due to their country being subjected to generational conflicts, civil war and more.

Then Arenas comes in with his comedy that only he finds funny to criticize the America’s team, lead by LeBron James, Anthony Edwards, Steph Curry, Kevin Durant and Anthony Davis just to make these weird downright racist comments about African society. Everybody we just mentioned is Black. And Arenas is “joking” about AFRICAN SOCIETY. SMH.

Here’s what he said …

“The males almost lost to some Africans. We almost lost and the King had to save us. I know the LeBron haters are mad. We almost lost to the ‘Ahi Ahi’ tribe, this is crazy,” Arenas was eluding to LeBron James’ game saving role for Team USA win.

Agent Zero didn’t stop there. He made ridiculous remarks about Joel Embiid, a player from Cameroon, by flat out associating him with the South Sudanese team, saying:

“Man, Embiid over there goddamn throwing the game because he’s throwing the game for his cousins and shit. We’re not supposed to be losing to them. Come on man! Cool runnings? We’re not supposed to lose to some Cool Runnings team. They don’t even have shoes! They get shoes from America, we have to ship them shoes.”

What the actual F. Is Gilbert Arenas okay?

Oh he didn’t stop. He kept going:

“We’re losing to people who are shooting on peach baskets, in dirt, no shoes.”

Get this, South Sudan’s basketball program, spearheaded by former NBA veteran player Luol Deng, has made remarkable strides, culminating in their qualification for the 2024 Olympics.

The country itself is a new state and only gained sovereign independence just over a decade ago. Arenas’ vile remarks failed to mention their monumental achievements and that of its national team on the international stage.

Arenas usually has honest takes on basketball. He often makes great points about the sport, the business of the NBA and understands the nuances of the game. All that aside this was wack and he owes South Sudan, and the whole damn continent an apology. Period.

“In keeping with Kobe Bryant’s legacy of philanthropy and community impact, a portion of the proceeds from the sale will directly benefit The Los Angeles Lakers Youth Foundation,” Sotheby’s told TMZ.

Clippers Reportedly trading Russell Westbrook to Jazz; Opening Door to Joining Nuggets in Buyout

image

The Los Angeles Clippers have traded Russell Westbrook to the Utah Jazz, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Westbrook is expected to negotiate a buyout with the Jazz, clearing the way for him to join the 2023 NBA Champion Denver Nuggets.

This move will make the Nuggets the sixth team Westbrook has played for in the last seven seasons. That’s officially journey status for the NBA’s all time leader in triple doubles. Regardless of how many teams he’s played for, Westbrook is still considered a star.

Last season with the Clippers, Westbrook averaged career lows of 11.1 points and 4.5 assists per game, mainly coming off the bench. He started the season as the Clippers’ starting point guard but was moved to a bench role following the acquisition of James Harden.

Westbrook’s 22.5 minutes per game were also the fewest in his 16-season career.

Get this, the Clippers who move to a new arena next season, had been seeking a trade partner for the 35-year-old veteran since the season ended, and the Nuggets quickly became the frontrunners.

In Denver, Westbrook will join three-time MVP Nikola Jokić, filling a crucial gap in their backcourt and providing depth off the bench. Despite his diminished stats, the Nuggets hope Westbrook can bring valuable experience and performance to their second unit.

As part of the deal, the Clippers acquire Kris Dunn, who averaged 5.4 points and 3.8 assists with the Jazz last season. The Jazz will also receive a second-round pick swap and cash in the trade.

This trade follows a series of moves by the Clippers this offseason, including Paul George’s signing with the Philadelphia 76ers in free agency and the additions of Derrick Jones Jr. and Nicolas Batum.

Odell Beckham Jr. and Nike Each Proclaim They Won After $20 Million Suit Ends

Back in 2022, NFL star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. filed a $20 million lawsuit against Nike.

Beckham Jr., accused the sneaker giant of withholding millions of dollars in a contract dispute. He alleged in his suit that Nike breached their contract and failed to deal fairly, claiming he was swindled out of substantial sums. Sounds like grounds for a lawsuit, from his perspective.

Now the legal battle has now come to an end. A Multnomah County Circuit Court jury ruled that neither Nike nor Beckham breached their contracts. Oh …

As a result, neither party was awarded any monetary compensation, as the court found no damages. Not sure if that is a clear win for OBJ.

Expressing his relief and gratitude, Beckham took to Instagram to share his thoughts. He posted a photo of himself with his legal team, captioned:

“JUST DO… RIGHT @nike. I wanna take this moment to thank God first and foremost thank you Heavenly Father. I wanna thank my team for every hour they have spent preparing on this case. I wanna thank the jury for simply doing what’s right in a world full of wrong… my message to whoever needs this is, STAND UP FOR WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN! JUSTICE WAS SERVED!!!”

Here’s how Nike responded to Beckham’s remarks, in an official statement:

“With this verdict, all of Mr. Beckham’s claims have been decided against him without any monetary award. The decision confirmed that Nike complied with its commitments. Nike is grateful to the jury and the Court for their careful attention to this case.”

One thing is for sure, the court decision brings closure to OBJ’s lawsuit that Beckham filed, concluding that no royalties were wrongfully withheld during his time as a Nike athlete.

Whelp, there you have it.

This week’s exclusive playlist comes from the versatile Tyler Tolbert, the multi-purpose player drafted by the Kansas City Royals organization back in 2019. The 26-year-old plays multiple positions, including second base and shortstop in the infield and has proven to be a stellar center fielder in the outfield. He’s played next to the likes of Maikel Garcia in Single-A ball and Michael Massey in High-A, so the Royals have had him pegged all 2024 as the next on deck.

After being drafted by the Royals in the 13th round of the MLB Draft in ’19, Tolbert played at Quad Cities until 2022, where he left with a .224 batting average, boasting 4 dingers and 36 RBIs in 116 games. One thing for sure that NBA great Steph Curry and Drake will definitely agree on. Both the Canadian rapper and the living legend on the NBA are both tired of Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “They Not Like Us” aimed at Drake.

While Team USA was prepping for a pre-Olympics exhibition with Serbia in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday afternoon when Curry decided to get his feelings about the most famous diss record of all time off his chest.

At about the ten second mark, Curry yelled, “Damn with this song! It’s not the only song in America.”

To the contrary of Curry’s opinion, LeBron James commented that he actually loved the song.

SOURCE SPORTS: NFL Legend Lawrence Taylor Arrested For Violation Of Sex Offender Conditions

Screenshot 2024 07 18 at 7.14.41 PM

Several reports have confirmed that former New York Giants legend Lawrence Taylor was arrested again this week in Florida after being accused of failing to follow conditions imposed on him as a registered sex offender. Again.

According to reports, the legendary linebacker turned himself in to Broward County Jail on an outstanding felony warrant on Wednesday for failure to report name or residence change. Taylor remained behind bars for several hours until he was ultimately released on Thursday morning.

This is the second time Taylor has been arrested on these types of charges, going back to December 2021 when he was locked up for not complying with his release conditions.,

Mark Eiglarsh, Taylor’s attorney, said, “My client, Lawrence Taylor, will be pleading ‘Not Guilty’ to the recent charges,” Eiglarsh added, “As with the previous incident involving the same allegations, Mr. Taylor did not knowingly commit any criminal offense. This situation is a significant misunderstanding. We are confident that, once the prosecutors review the exculpatory evidence demonstrating Mr. Taylor’s innocence, he will once again achieve a favorable outcome.”

The Pro Hall Of Famer was declared back in 2011 when he was accused of being intimate with a 15-year-old girl. Taylor ultimately cut a deal with prosecutors to close out things, pleading no contest to a lesser charge of residency restriction for persons convicted of certain sex offenses.
