Conor McGregor Found Liable For SA Following Trial in Irish Court

Screen Shot 2024 11 22 at 4.39.48 PM

Another ugly stain on Conor McGregor. An Irish civil jury ruled on Friday that MMA fighter was liable for sexually assaulting a woman in a hotel penthouse following a night of partying. The woman, who accused McGregor of “brutally raping and battering” her on December 9, 2018, was awarded nearly $257,000 in damages.

Horrible.

Get this, she alleged the encounter left her with severe bruising and lasting trauma, including PTSD. McGregor, however, denied the accusations, maintaining the encounter was consensual and that the woman fabricated the claims.

Representing the woman, attorney John Gordon argued that while his client never claimed to be perfect, the night turned into a traumatic experience. Gordon suggested that McGregor, still angry from a high-profile loss in Las Vegas two months earlier, took out his frustration on her. “He’s not a man, he’s a coward,” Gordon told the jury, calling McGregor “a devious coward” and urging them to treat him as such.

That part.

TRIGGER WARNING: The woman described the attack in vivid detail, claiming that McGregor restrained her in chokeholds and made threatening comments. She said McGregor allegedly told her, “Now you know how I felt in the octagon when I tapped out three times,” referring to his UFC losses. Fearing for her life, she said she thought of her daughter, terrified she might never see her again. “He let me go and I remember saying I was sorry, as I felt that I did something wrong and I wanted to reassure him that I wouldn’t tell anyone so he wouldn’t hurt me again,” she recalled.

Expectedly, McGregor, described the encounter as intense and energetic but insisted it was not rough. He denied using a chokehold and claimed the woman never said “no” or stopped him. He dismissed the allegations as “a full-blown lie among many lies,” and rejected the idea that he would highlight his UFC defeats in such a manner, saying, “How anyone could believe that me, as a prideful person, would highlight my shortcomings.”

McGregor’s defense team, led by attorney Remy Farrell, asked jurors to set aside any personal biases against the fighter. “You may have an active dislike of him, some of you may even loathe him – there is no point pretending that the situation might be otherwise,” Farrell said. “I’m not asking you to invite him to Sunday brunch.”

What’s more, the defense also challenged the woman’s testimony, pointing out that she never mentioned McGregor threatening her life during her initial interviews with police. They presented surveillance footage showing her leaving the hotel room with McGregor, appearing to embrace him and kiss his arm. One of McGregor’s lawyers remarked that she seemed “overjoyed” in the footage. Additionally, McGregor provided a written statement during his initial police questioning but, on his lawyer’s advice, declined to answer over 100 follow-up questions.

Despite McGregor’s denial and the defense’s arguments, the jury ultimately found him liable for the sexual assault, awarding the woman compensation for her physical and emotional distress.

SEE IT: LeBron James Announces Temporary Social Media Exit: ‘I’ll holla at ya’ll’

Screen Shot 2024 11 21 at 2.09.20 PM

LeBron James is kinda over it. Social media that is. The arguable GOAT is taking a break from social media due to the overwhelming negativity he’s encountered online. Listen, we get it. Socials has become a cesspool in so many ways. How did we get here? Seriously … Back to Bron.

On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Lakers star shared his decision to step away from social platforms, following a post from Rich Kleiman, Kevin Durant’s longtime agent, who called out sports media for focusing on negative commentary. James fully endorsed Kleiman’s message, expressing frustration with the online environment.

Get this, in his post, James didn’t give a clear timeline for his return but emphasized that the negativity on social media had become too much for him. This decision comes after a challenging period for James on the internet. Following a Lakers’ 124-118 win over the Utah Jazz, James defended rookie teammate Dalton Knecht and responded to online critics who call him a “liar.” He said, “Everybody on the internet calls me a liar all the time. They say I lie about every f—ing thing. So what am I now?”

Wild. Casuals are calling Bron a liar? Huh. Ya’ll need hobbies.

James had previously praised Knecht’s skills, but some critics doubted his assessment. Addressing those comments, James said, “I watched him, I watched Tennessee a lot. I did not think he was going to fall to us. I thought it would be impossible. I have no idea how that happened but very grateful and very happy that he’s here.”

That part

Now, in response to the relentless negativity, James has decided to disconnect from the digital world for an undisclosed amount of time.

Good for him. Outie 5000.

Several reports have confirmed that free agent outfielder Juan Soto formally rejected the $21 million qualifying offer from the New York Yankees, becoming one of twelve free agents who declined a similar one-year offer. The Yanks will receive Draft compensation if Soto is picked up by another team, but the Bronx Bombers are working hard to keep that from happening, calling in managing general partner Hal Steinbrenner, general manager Brian Cashman and manager Aaron Boone to their meeting yesterday with Soto.

According to MLB.com, the left-hander has already fielded meetings with the Blue Jays, Red Sox and Mets. Other teams such as the 2024 World Series Champion L.A. Dodgers, the Giants, Phillies and Rays have expressed interest in the 26-year-old outfielder.

Juan Soto wrapped up an exceptional season in 2024, earning $31 million while posting some of the best numbers of his young career. Across 157 regular-season games, Soto slashed .288/.419/.569, tallying 128 runs, 31 doubles, 41 home runs, 109 RBIs, and 129 walks. His performance set career highs in several key categories, including runs scored (128), hits (166), home runs (41), total bases (328), and extra-base hits (76).

“It was a remarkable season,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said last week. “As I’ve said all year, what Juan did for us between the lines was pretty special. But equally, I was just impressed with the person. Really getting to know him and managing him was a pleasure.”

Soto’s stellar contributions have sparked significant interest across the league, and his future remains a hot topic of discussion. Boone didn’t hide his desire to keep Soto in pinstripes but acknowledged the fierce competition to secure the star outfielder.

“I certainly would love to have him back, obviously,” Boone added. “I want him in pinstripes moving forward. But you also know there’s going to be a lot of people competing for that, and who knows where it ends up?”

As teams line up for the chance to acquire one of baseball’s brightest talents, Soto’s impact in 2024 is a testament to his consistency and superstar potential.

Mike Tyson is 'Feeling 100%' After Medical Scare And Trash Talks Jake Paul

The highly anticipated showdown between boxing legend Mike Tyson and social media star Jake Paul was billed as the boxing event of 2024. With both men doing their part to fuel the hype, fans were eager to see the clash of generations in the ring. However, fight night left many viewers disappointed—not just by the fighters’ cautious performances in the later rounds, but also by widespread technical issues with Netflix’s live stream.

The streaming giant, which hosted the event, faced backlash as countless viewers reported buffering, glitches, and even an inability to access the fight altogether. These frustrations have now culminated in a lawsuit filed by Ronald “Blue” Denton, a Florida resident, who claims Netflix breached its contract to deliver a high-quality stream. Denton’s legal filing cites “no access, streaming glitches, and buffering issues” as evidence of Netflix’s failure and is seeking unspecified damages.

Social media was flooded with complaints from angry viewers, many of whom shared stories of being unable to follow the action in real time. The backlash prompted Netflix Chief Technology Officer Elizabeth Stone to address the streaming mishap in an email to employees. While acknowledging the technical problems, Stone highlighted the event’s record-breaking viewership. “We don’t want to dismiss the poor experience of some members,” she wrote. “Know we have room for improvement, but still consider this event a huge success.”

Neither Mike Tyson nor Jake Paul has commented on the streaming debacle, but other public figures have weighed in. Radio personality Howard Stern criticized Netflix for the issues and urged the company to fix its streaming technology ahead of its planned Christmas Day football broadcast. “You mess with people’s football, there is hell to pay,” Stern warned on his Sirius XM show. “I don’t know how this stuff works, but you’ve got to make sure it works.”

While the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight generated significant buzz and drew massive viewership, the technical setbacks and subsequent lawsuit have cast a shadow over Netflix’s foray into live sports streaming. The pressure is now on the platform to ensure smoother experiences for future live events.

LeBron James’ SpringHill Reportedly Merging With Fulwell 73 – Producer of ‘The Kardashians’

Screen Shot 2024 11 18 at 11.20.11 AM

Big moves only for LeBron James’ and his entertainment company, SpringHill Co. Reports are coming in that the entertainment powerhouse is merging with Fulwell 73, the British production company behind huge hits like The Kardashians and Carpool Karaoke. Sheesh.

So they way it goes, this merger brings together two powerful forces in the entertainment industry, with SpringHill co-founder Maverick Carter and Fulwell’s managing partner Leo Pearlman set to serve as co-CEOs of the newly combined company.

If you’re unaware, SpringHill was founded by James and Carter, and has primarily focused on sports-related content but they have most definitely branched out.

The media company has produced projects like Starting 5, a 10-part Netflix docuseries following James and other NBA stars during the 2023-2024 season, and the 2022 sports comedy-drama Hustle, starring Adam Sandler. Fulwell 73, on the other hand, has a broader entertainment portfolio, producing shows like The Kardashians and Carpool Karaoke. The merger is expected to give SpringHill greater scale and the ability to make larger deals with media companies and streaming platforms, according to Carter.

Get this, in an interview with CNBC, Carter explained that the collaboration with Fulwell will allow SpringHill to expand its capabilities, especially in the realm of unscripted productions. “Fulwell makes shows we always wished we could do, and we just did not have that capability, in terms of unscripted productions around the world, fully scaled,” Carter said. “Now that jealousy goes away.”

Here’s where the idea of merging came about. Roughly 13 months ago, it all went down following a conversation between Carter and Fulwell co-founder Ben Winston in a parking lot after dinner. Winston shared his admiration for SpringHill’s ability to blend branding with content, noting that the merger will allow the companies to work more efficiently in today’s competitive entertainment landscape. “It’s just a smart way of running an entertainment company in 2024,” Winston said, highlighting SpringHill’s unique approach to combining commerce with content.

Here’s where big business gets bigger. The merger is also supported by a group of high-profile investors, including Fenway Sports Group, RedBird Capital Partners, UC Investments, Nike, Epic Games, Main Street Advisors, and Eldridge Industries. As part of the deal, existing shareholders will invest an additional $40 million to fund growth initiatives for the combined company.

With this merger, the two companies are set to create a more dynamic entertainment entity that blends sports, pop culture, and business in new and exciting ways.

SEE IT: 50 Cent Trolls Mike Tyson After Viral Jazzy Interview: ‘Mike ya scaring the kids, WTF chill’

Screen Shot 2024 11 15 at 2.23.25 PM

Mike Tyson is about to try to knock Jake Paul into next summer, tonight, Friday, November 15, but ahead of the arguably the most anticipated novelty boxing matchup ever. The boxing legend has been doing a lot of press and making waves for his recent interview with 14-year-old Jazzy. During the conversation, Tyson made some heavy statements about legacy, ego, and life’s fleeting nature, which caught the attention of many—including 50 Cent, who couldn’t resist mocking Tyson’s remarks.

In the kinda weird interview, and we’re not referring to the interviewer who has awesome as always, Tyson discussed his views on legacy, explaining that he doesn’t believe in it. “I don’t believe in the word legacy,” he said. “I just think that’s another word for ego. Legacy doesn’t mean nothing. That’s just a word everybody grabbed onto. Somebody said that word and everyone grabbed it, so now it’s used every five seconds. It means absolutely nothing to me.” Tyson went on to say, “I’m just passing through. I’ma die and it’s gonna be over. Who cares about legacy after that? What a big ego. So I’ma die and I want people to think that I’m this, I’m great? No. We’re nothing. We’re dead. We’re dust. We’re absolutely nothing. Our legacy is nothing.”

Despite the what some would call deep nature of Tyson’s reflections, Jazzy held her own, responding thoughtfully to Tyson’s views and acknowledging that she had never heard such an answer before. Later in the interview, Jazzy also asked Tyson about his opponent, Jake Paul. Tyson didn’t hold back, admitting, “I don’t think much of him,” though he did acknowledge Paul’s sense of humor, calling him “very funny.”

As the interview went viral on socials, 50 Cent, known for his sharp wit and playful trolling, jumped in with a comment about Tyson’s intimidating tone. On X (formerly Twitter), 50 Cent wrote, “Goddam it! Mike ya scaring the kids, WTF chill. Note to self, keep the kids away from Mike.”

Get this, Tyson stirred up more headlines on Thursday, November 14, when tensions flared at the weigh-in before the fight. During the face-off, Paul accidentally stepped on Tyson’s toes, prompting the 57-year-old boxer to slap Paul across the face in a brief moment of fury. 50 Cent couldn’t resist poking fun at the incident, sharing a throwback interview clip where Tyson revealed one of his biggest pet peeves: people stepping on his feet. In the video, Tyson said, “If someone stepped on my feet, I’d totally give up and tap out.” In response, 50 Cent joked in his post’s comment section, “Step on an older man’s feet, and s–t can get crazy,” adding a playful “LOL” to his remark.

As Tyson prepares for his so-called showdown with Paul, it’s clear that while he’s focused on the fight, his recent remarks—and 50 Cent’s reactions—have kept fans buzzing with laughter and curiosity about the future of the legendary boxer.

LeBron James Ponders Eventual Retirement: ‘If it’s one year or two years’

Screen Shot 2024 11 15 at 2.11.57 PM

Father Time will eventually catch up with LeBron James and the idea of his swan song may be closer to than fans might think. After a recent game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Memphis Grizzlies, the 39-year-old basketball legend gave a candid admission about his future in the sport. Speaking to reporters, James revealed, “I’m not going to play that much longer, to be completely honest. I don’t know how many years that is. If it’s one year or two years, whatever the case may be.”

What’s crazy is despite these hints at retirement, James continues to defy age on the court. In the same game against the Grizzlies, he made history by becoming the oldest player ever to record three consecutive triple-doubles. James finished the game with an impressive 35 points, 14 assists, and 12 rebounds, solidifying his ongoing dominance in the league.

Get this, during his post-game interview, James reflected on his longevity, explaining that his physical ability is tied closely to his mindset. “It’s not me, it’s the mind,” he said. “Wherever my mind is is how the rest of my body’s gonna go or whatever the case may be.” He added, “I said the other night, I’m not playing until the wheels fall off. I’m not going to be that guy. I’m not going to be the guy who is disrespecting the game because I just wanted to be out on the floor. That won’t be me.”

We all see that James is still playing at an elite level, he’s also mindful of his legacy and the need to step away at the right time. Beyond basketball, James is cherishing the opportunity to occasionally play alongside his son, Bronny, an experience he calls one of his “greatest gifts.”

When it comes to what’s really important to James, he reflected on his family life, adding “It’s always been family over everything. For me, I lost a lot of time because of this league and committing to this league. Being on the road at times, missing a lot of his things, Bryce’s things, Zhuri’s things, so to be able to have this moment where I’m working still and I can work alongside my son, it’s one of the greatest gifts I’ve ever gotten from the man above and I’m going to take full advantage of it.”

Carmelo Anthony Has Something to Say On Drake’s DeMar DeRozan Friction

Screen Shot 2024 11 14 at 3.16.13 PM

Former NBA stars Carmelo Anthony and Rudy Gay have entered the chat when it comes to the drama between Drake a DeMar DeRozan. The two former NBA Stars turned podcasters offered their unique views on the ongoing kind of feud between the rapper and the basketball player.

Listen, as you probably know this all comes from Drake’s longstanding rivalry with Kendrick Lamar, which has had ripple effects in the sports world.

Carmelo Anthony gave his seven cents (get it because of his number, ha) on his show 7PM in Brooklyn, shared his thoughts on the situation, explaining that Drake’s feelings might be hurt due to the close bond he had with DeRozan during their time together in Toronto. “I think Drake was hurt a little bit because of the relationship he built with DeMar in Toronto,” Melo dished. “Representing the 6, Raptors—you know that was a lot of connection with those two. He’s a Raptor for life from a basketball standpoint. Yes, that jersey should be going up.” Anthony highlighted how deep the connection ran, with both men sharing a link to the Raptors and their city.

Now ICYMI, Rudy Gay, recently and reluctantly retired from the NBA and is now a recurring co-host on 7PM in Brooklyn, didn’t hold back in expressing his disapproval of Drake’s recent actions. “That’s wack, man. Drake is wack for that,” Gay stated, referring to Drake’s public comments about DeRozan. Gay’s sentiment was clear: if Drake had an issue with DeRozan, he should’ve addressed it directly instead of making things public. “You gotta pull up on DeMar if you feel that way before you go on camera,” Gay added.

What’s more, Melo echoed Gay’s thoughts, especially regarding Drake’s remarks about pulling down DeRozan’s potential Raptors banner. “Drake did a lot when he said I’ma go up there and take it down. That part is a lot,” Carmelo commented. However, he also acknowledged that DeRozan may have unintentionally become an antagonist to Drake when he appeared on stage with Kendrick Lamar during The Pop Out concert and starred in the music video for “Not Like Us.” Melo said, “Those are shots. You my man, we in the crib, we hanging, we building the 6 up. From that standpoint, that would f**k me up, too. I’m gonna feel a way no matter what, but yes, you do have a conversation. As a man, you have a conversation.”

Rudy Gay went on to agree with Anthony, emphasizing that if there was an issue, Drake should’ve addressed it with DeRozan privately. “If you got a problem, come at me,” Gay said. “To see your man’s out there dancing with the enemy, that’s kinda crazy.”

To recap, the drama escalated earlier this month when Drake was courtside at a Toronto Raptors game against the Sacramento Kings. During the broadcast, Drake was heard calling DeRozan a “goof” and jokingly threatening to take down his Raptors banner if it were ever put up. After the game, which the Raptors won, Drake was seen mouthing “Fk outta here, puy” as DeRozan walked off the court. When DeRozan was asked about the banner comments during a post-game press conference, he responded, “Well he gon’ have a long way to climb to take it down, so tell him good luck.”

This cross culture beef, spanning rap and ball, marks a sharp turn in their relationship, which was once much warmer. Just three years ago, DeRozan had publicly stated that Drake would “forever have a friend” in him, even after being traded from the Raptors to the San Antonio Spurs. Despite being blindsided by the trade, DeRozan received support from Drake, who invited him over to his house and offered words of encouragement. Even after his appearance in Kendrick Lamar’s video, DeRozan maintained that he still had love for Drake. However, based on their recent interactions, that camaraderie seems to have faded.

All just exhausting.
