Snoop Dogg’s Only Regret About Working With Pharrell Is Not Getting A Song With Jay-Z

Of all of the hits in Snoop Dogg‘s massive catalog, the biggest is his 2004 Rhythm & Gangsta single “Drop It Like It’s Hot” featuring Pharrell. It became Snoop’s first Hot 100 No. 1, a position it held for three weeks in 2004, and it was nominated at the 2005 Grammy Awards for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group, ending the decade named the most popular rap song of the decade by Billboard.

In fact, many of Snoop’s collaborations with Pharrell have been wildly successful. “Beautiful” also hit the top 10, while “Signs,” with Justin Timberlake, was also a huge hit in its own right, landing at No. 1 or in the top 10 on numerous global charts. However, Snoop does have one major regret about his time working with Pharrell as a producer, which he revealed in a recent interview with GQ.

“What I didn’t get from him that I always wanted was a song with me and Jay-Z together on a Pharrell beat,” Snoop admitted. “Because I felt like [Jay and I] heard his beats the best, you know what I’m saying? We did his beats the most justice.” This opinion stemmed from a bit of friendly competition between the two rap vets. “Because that’s our producer; he’s our guy,” he said. “I’m like, ‘Man, that sh*t you gave Jay-Z was hot. Now you think I can get one better than that?’ You think Jay’s saying, ‘How the f*ck do you get this n**** ‘Drop It Like It’s Hot?’ I’ve been hanging out with you, and you’re going to give him that?’”

Elsewhere in the interview, Snoop talks about letting DMX record his final album at Snoop’s own compound for free, which became a key point in his negotiations to become the Def Jam’s creative consultant.. “[Def Jam] owed me [for DMX’s studio time], and I wasn’t sending no invoices because I did that for X and then X passed away. Charge to the game. He gave me that.”

Someone Paid Nearly Half A Million Dollars To Be Snoop Dogg’s Virtual Neighbor

Most of us have neighbors in real life, but some of us have virtual neighbors, too. Such is the case for Snoop Dogg, who just got a new neighbor who paid nearly half a million dollars for the privilege of owning some virtual space adjacent to Snoop’s virtual space.

Snoop owns property in The Sandbox, which is described as “a virtual world where players can build, own, and monetize their gaming experiences in the Ethereum blockchain using SAND, the main utility token of the platform.” On December 2, to celebrate Snoop’s Sandbox presence, a sale of virtual spaces near Snoop’s was launched. During that sale, a plot next to Snoop’s was purchased for 70,903.8222 SAND, which at the time of purchase was worth about $458,038. As of this post, the current value of the SAND used to make the purchase is approximately $382,906.

Snoop shared a tweet about the purchase and wrote, “Won’t u be my neighbor.”

Snoop is currently in the midst of launching a significant partnership with The Sandbox, as outlined on the platform’s website. The rapper is building a re-creation of his real-life Diamond Bar, California mansion, as well as a venue that will host concerts and other live events.

Snoop Dogg Exhibits Artistic Flair In His ‘Make Some Money’ Video With Dave East

It’s Black Friday, which for many means shopping for deals at big-box retailers trying to clear the year’s stock ahead of the new year. However, for some, like Snoop Dogg, it’s an opportunity to support Black businesses — which is exactly what he does in his new video for “Make Some Money,” which is presented as a showcase of colorful art and fashion by Black painters and designers with all their names attached so viewers can spend some money to support artists who might have otherwise been overlooked.

The new single comes from Snoop’s recently released compilation album The Algorithm, which he released last Friday as part of his new role at Def Jam. As such, the song also features two Def Jam artists: Dave East, who signed to the label in 2016 as part of a joint venture with Nas’ Mass Appeal Records, and Fabolous, who signed to the label in 2007, releasing four albums under the imprint beginning with From Nothin’ To Somethin’ (five, including the joint project Friday On Elm Street with Jadakiss).

Other singles from The Algorithm include “Go To War” with Blxst, and “Murder Music” with Benny The Butcher, Busta Rhymes, and Jadakiss.

Snoop Dogg And Blxst Handle Their Business With A Retro, Action-Packed Video For ‘Go To War’

Earlier this year, Snoop Dogg joined Def Jam as an Executive Consultant, but that hasn’t stopped him from releasing new music to his fans. The Long Beach rapper adds to his lengthy catalog with his new compilation album, The Algorithm. The project is 25 tracks deep and features multiple songs with Snoop as the lead artist and others that give the spotlight to other names. To celebrate the new release, Snoop Dogg and rising West coast rapper Blxst join forces for their “Go To War” video.

In the visual, Snoop and Blxst handle their business through a retro, action-packed homage to the Blaxploitation movies Snoop has used as inspiration for years. It’s filled with over-the-top afros, fake fights, even faker gunshots, and over-the-top drama. All in all, it’s a pretty enjoyable video for a good song from the project.

Elsewhere on The Algorithm, appearances from Usher, Eric Bellinger, Fabolous, Eric Bellinger, YK Osiris, Ty Dolla Sign, Bino Rideaux, Larry June, D Smoke, Wiz Khalifa, and more can be found. The album arrives as Snoop prepares to perform at the 2022 Super Bowl Halftime Show in February. He’ll be accompanied by Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Dr. Dre, and Mary J. Blige at the performance. As for Blxst, he recently stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform “Chosen” with Ty Dolla Sign and Tyga.

While a bit of a publicity stunt, he’s definitely keeping his profile up ahead of the release of his new album this Friday, The Algorithm.
