Donnell Rawlings has become the latest figure to join the Shannon Sharpe mockery train. The comedian delivered a perfect impression of Sharpe’s voice, as well as copying his now viral awkward walk, while speaking with TMZ. However, Rawlings ultimately spoke in defense of the Hall of Fame tight end. Rawlings noted that while it was funny, Sharpe likely still feels the effects of his long playing career in the NFL. Sharpe played for 13 years and appeared in over 200 games while recording nearly 11,000 receiving yards.
Sharpe has become a viral figure after awkwardly exiting an SUV earlier this week during a promotion for his cognac brand. Additional mockery came from Sharpe’s tight-fitting green outfit and bright orange satchel bag. As mentioned, the “Shannon Sharpe Walk” became a viral trend on TikTok especially. Antonio Brown Continues Trolling Shannon Sharpe With Bizarre Pop Culture Reference
Another person who joined in on the trend of mocking Sharpe was Antonio Brown. In his latest post against the Hall of Famer turned pundit, Brown tried to compare Sharpe to “Rex”, the T-Rex character from Toy Story. “Just can’t unseen it” Brown wrote alongside an image of Sharpe wearing a similar satchel bag to Rex. Previously, Brown had called Sharpe gay and alleged he was on steroids. It’s unclear why exactly Brown hates Sharpe in particular but the disdain is fierce.
While some Twitter users found the post hilarious, others were less enthused. Some saw the post as either not funny or simply just reaching. Meanwhile, a more vocal group hit back at Brown for going after the largely beloved Sharpe. Many commenters told Brown not to go after “Unc” like that, referencing Sharpe’s prominent fandom nickname. All of this was done under Brown’s CTESPN banner. How do you feel about Brown’s posts? Let us know in the comments.

Antonio Brown Claims Shannon Sharpe & JJ Watt Use Steroids
However, this is far from the first time that Brown has gone after Sharpe. In early February, Brown took to social media to name a trio of former NFL players whom Brown alleged used steroids during their career. The players named in Brown’s post were Shannon Sharpe, JJ Watt, and Julian Edelman. Of the three named, only one (Edelman) has any documented history with PEDs. Sharpe likely appears on the list due to Brown’s ongoing beef with the Hall of Famer turned ESPN pundit. Meanwhile, Watt regularly took the opportunity to troll the NFL for their incessant drug testing of him throughout his career. However, neither man has been conclusively linked to steroid use.
The inclusion of Edelman, however, is not some new bombshell that Brown is unveiling. Edelman was suspended for the first four games of the 2019 season after a positive test for PEDs. The exact substance he was suspended over was not made public and Edelman did not protest the suspension. Sharpe and Watt have not responded to Brown’s allegations. Furthermore, Brown did not provide any evidence to back up his claims, meaning they are unsubstantiated at this time.
Shannon Sharpe is someone who has become a massive media personality over the last couple of years. Overall, his success is very well deserved. He is someone who provides interesting analysis, and he never ceases to make people laugh. However, with this success has come a ton of jealousy from people who are supposed to be his peers. As we have seen, numerous comedians and podcast hosts have tried to call Sharpe gay. They have spread these rumors far and wide to the point where it is out of control.
Sharpe has been gracious in light of these rumors. He refuses to give into any of it, and he tries to pay it no mind. However, sometimes, things can take on a life of their own. For instance, over the weekend, Shannon posted a video of himself outside of a store. In this video, Sharpe is standing in a peculiar fashion. This subsequently led to people calling him words like “zesty.” Furthermore, others tried to make the case that this is proof of him being in the closet. It was all very bizarre, and fans eventually rushed to his defense.
In the bevy of tweets below, you can see people explaining why Shannon might be standing this way. Essentially, it likely stems from all of the injuries he has suffered during his career in the NFL. He has had hip surgeries and ankle repairs, which can make it difficult to walk normally. Unfortunately, some people would prefer to ignore these facts so they can push their own harmful narrative. That’s the internet for you. It’s not about what’s true, but what is the most entertaining explanation.

Shannon Sharpe has been a phenomenal addition to the First Take crew. Overall, he has delivered some great takes, and he has solid chemistry with Stephen A. Smith. Now that he is no longer with Skip Bayless, it feels like he has more freedom to be himself. Furthermore, he has been doing big things with Club Shay Shay. It feels as though Sharpe is now a huge star in the broadcasting world, and that goes beyond just sports. However, he still has some questionable takes from time to time.
For instance, today, the First Take crew found themselves speaking about who the next face of the NBA will be. Moreover, they were trying to determine how this player will be figured out. Well, Sharpe chimed in with an interesting theory. He believes the player needs to be in some sort of public-facing stable relationship. For instance, LeBron James had Savannah, while Magic Johnson and Larry Bird were also married. Unfortunately, this take did not go over well as Stephen A. and JJ Redick were left stunned.
Subsequently, fans flooded Twitter with some reactions to what was being said. Overall, they could not believe that Magic Johnson would be mentioned here. After all, he is someone who cheated on his wife quite a bit while he played in the NBA. Although he and Cookie are still together, the infidelity definitely invalidates the point Shannon was trying to make here. Beyond that, the point was a bit far-fetched to begin with. No one is really thinking about the players and who they might be married to.

Kai Cenat is one of the biggest streamers in the entire world right now. Overall, he just won streamer of the year at the Streamer Awards. At this point, there is no denying what Kai has done in his career. Although he is mostly found on Twitch, he is becoming a mainstream figure. For instance, this past weekend, he got to play in the Celebrity All-Star Game for NBA All-Star Weekend. Sure, he only scored four points, but he was still a huge presence all weekend. He even got hopped over by Jaylen Brown during the Dunk Contest.
Unfortunately, the dunk was fairly underwhelming considering the fact that Cenat isn’t very tall. Furthermore, he was sitting down which made the dunk that much less impressive. On First Take yesterday, Shannon Sharpe made his feelings clear on all of this. In fact, he claimed that Cenat was three-feet tall and that sitting down, he was half of that. Cenat saw this on his stream and freaked out, although you can tell it was an act for the sake of content. Subsequently, he joined Nightcap with Shannon and Ochocinco, where he confronted the two on what was said.
Sharpe thought it was all very funny, as did Ochocinco. However, Sharpe did defend his take, noting that he just wanted to illustrate how bad the dunk was. As for Cenat and his height, the streamer said he is 5’9″. Sharpe wasn’t so sure about all of this as he claimed that he was 5’5″. At this point, the two are not going to be able to come to an agreement on height. That said, it is cool to see these two on a podcast together. They are both leveling up in the media world, and their fanbases are bigger than ever.

It’s no surprise that since Katt Williams’ viral Club Shay Shay interview, various comedians have taken aim at Shannon Sharpe. Recently, for example, Eddie Griffin made fun of Sharpe’s podcast by calling it Club Gay Gayduring a set. “Me and Katt [are] the last two that ain’t wore a dress, n***a. I called that n**ga… and said, ‘N***a, let’s do the ‘Non-Wearing A Dress Tour.’ That s**t’ll be hot like a motherf*cker,’” he added. The joke did manage to get a few laughs, however, it’s far from the first time Sharpe’s been accused of being gay.
This was something Sharpe was sure to point out on Nightcap recently. According to him, people are simply talking about him because he’s the “hot thing” right now. He explained that while people continue to “use the same joke” over and over again, he refuses to let it get to him, because he knows who he is.
“They’re using the same joke,” he described. “But at some point in time, it’s gonna get old and people are gonna get tired of y’all saying that ‘Shannon’s gay and Shannon this… You’re going to have to get back to telling jokes.”
Griffin isn’t the only one to talk about Sharpe as of late, however. Recently, Rich Dollaz weighed in on the personality, which resulted in a pretty awkward encounter later. According to him, he ran into Sharpe at the gym after the fact and hoped he didn’t realize it was him because he didn’t “want no smoke” with him.
What do you think of Shannon Sharpe saying that comedians are running out of jokes about him? What about Rich Dollaz claiming to have run into Sharpe at the gym after “talking sh*t” about him? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.
Mase has fired back at Shannon Sharpe following his recent description of the rapper as a “gangster pastor.” The shots between the two came after Mase trolled Sharpe for feuding with Mike Epps. Mase addressed the situation during the latest episode of It Is What It Is.
“Your boy chose to target me about the sets and the working out and all that. He called me a fake pastor and all that. I want to address it,” he told his co-host, Cam’ron. “Listen Shannon, I’m not the one to play with.” From there, he brought up several issues with Sharpe. For one, he mentioned the Club Shay Shay host’s back-and-forth with the father of NBA star Ja Morant. He also further complained about the feud with Epps. “If you are for Black people, this is not the way to carry yourself,” he said at one point. Mase also noted the respectful way Sharpe behaved with Skip Bayless, as compared to other Black voices in media.
Shannon Sharpe Coaches NBA All-Star Celebrity Game
Mase continued: “He said I’m a pastor-gangster or something like that. And I would tell him, for your spiritual comment, that was ignorant because if you know anything about faith, all the people that were apostles and pastors, they died horrific deaths, they went to jail, they were hung upside-down. So it’s as gangster as you could be when it talks about doing for others and being tough.” Check out his full response below.

Sharpe and Epps made amends during the NBA All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis, last weekend. Sharpe shared a picture of the two on Instagram to confirm the news. Be on the lookout for further updates on Mase and Shannon Sharpe on HotNewHipHop.
Eddie Griffin is a comedian who is not afraid to say how he feels about a particular situation. However, there is no doubt that this can lead to some bizarre rants and even some downright offensive ones. Overall, Griffin found himself in that territory recently while at a recent show. In the clip below, you can hear him talking about Katt Williams and how the comedian refuses to wear a dress. He even said that the two should go on a tour together that is based around their refusal to do such a thing.
“Me and Katt [are] the last two that ain’t wore a dress, n***a. I called that n**ga… and said, ‘N***a, let’s do the ‘Non-Wearing A Dress Tour.’ That s**t’ll be hot like a motherf*cker,’” Griffin explained. Furthermore, Griffing spoke on Club Shay Shay, the popular podcast hosted by Shannon Sharpe. Comedians like Mike Epps have accused Sharpe of being gay, and that is exactly what Griffin did. In fact, he called the show Club Gay Gay. Overall, it was a pretty hacky joke, but it certainly got some laughs.
Now that Shannon Sharpe is seeing success in the interview space, it seems like he is getting more hate than ever before. Sharpe never dealt with these kinds of rumors before. However, he is now experiencing a wave of accusations, simply because he is going viral almost every week with his interviews. He is the biggest person in the media right now, and it is clear that there are some who want to knock him off of that pedestal. For now, it seems like that will not be possible, at least not for now.
Let us know what you think of these comments from Griffin, down below. Do you think this crusade against Shannon is bizarre? ESPN appeared to swing the deal of 2023 when they added Shannon Sharpe to the rotating cast of analysts on First Take. It was a move made seemingly at the request of Stephen A. Smith following Sharpe’s departure from Undisputed. However, six months in, how are things looking for sports media’s newest power couple?
Smith & Sharpe Have Business Booming At ESPN
2023 was First Take‘s most successful year to date. Anchored by Smith and Molly Qerim along with their rotating cast of guests, the show averaged 496,000 viewers per episode and extended its year-on-year growth streak to 17 months. Viewership only seemed to get better later in the year, with Sharpe debuting in early September. Over 700,000 people were tuning in to Sharpe’s first week on the show. Furthermore, December 2023 was the show’s second most-watched month on record.
Additionally, when paired with a smooth transition for The Pat McAfee Show, which airs directly after First Take, ESPN has created an unstoppable four-hour programming block. Furthermore, the massive talent cuts ESPN seemingly undertook to acquire Sharpe were completely negated by a $2 billion gaming partnership late in the year. In terms of money and viewership, things are great at ESPN. However, there is a catch.
Does Stephen A. Respect Shannon Too Much On First Take?
The First Take era of ESPN has been defined by yelling. A lot of yelling. In fact, First Take would likely be a much less successful show if people weren’t yelling. However, the dynamic was always Stephen A. yelling at someone. Originally it was Skip Bayless. Then it was Max Kellerman. Now…Smith just sort of yells at everyone. He can’t yell at Qerim directly because that’s terrible optics. Nor can he yell at Mad Dog directly because that devolves into a screaming match. However, Smith also doesn’t want to yell at Sharpe because he literally pushed ESPN to sign the Hall of Famer and clearly respects him too much. Hell, one of Mad Dog’s viral rants in 2023 was about the bromance between Smith and Sharpe!
While the Smith-Sharpe pairing is clearly working, the show has fundamentally changed. Smith’s debates are now typically with lesser-known ESPN personalities, rather than his mainstay foil. However, this might just speak to an overall shift in Smith’s brand as “directionless yelling” is essentially the crux of his podcast, The Stephen A. Smith Show. Fans were hoping for all-out brawls between Smith and Sharpe but that just doesn’t happen. Smith has one voice for rants and another for Shannon Sharpe.
Can Shannon Sharpe Prevent A Divorce Between Stephen A. Smith & ESPN?
There is one other issue looming – Stephen A. Smith. Smith’s contract expires this year and he has made it very clear that he owes no loyalty to ESPN. Last December, Smith told Outkick’s Clay Travis that he wanted to be the broadcaster’s highest-paid talent and that he wanted $20 million in his new contract. That would be an $8 million raise from the $12M per year that he earns now. Furthermore, Smith told Travis that he has no qualms about leaving ESPN if they don’t meet his demands.
Smith likely wouldn’t net $20M a year if he went fully independent but he’d likely come pretty close. His podcast already gets free advertising on First Takedespite not being an ESPN product. With sponsors and more freedom around his content and conduct, there is definitely an appeal to independent broadcasting for Smith. Additionally, it’s clear at this point that ESPN needs Smith more than Smith needs ESPN.
So where do things go from here? After investing heavily in Sharpe, they aren’t going to want to lose Smith. However, can ESPN justify Smith’s asking price? How is it going to look down the line if they lay off staff writers but still have Smith’s $20M salary on the books? And what is the ceiling for First Take? Just how many more viewers can they actually attract, especially when young people are less likely to buy an ESPN package?
Are you a fan of First Take‘s newest era? Do you wish that there was more drama? And where do you think the show goes from here? Let us know in the comments.
Benzino is tired of people making jokes about his neck and doesn’t understand why Shannon Sharpe isn’t the target of such scrutiny. He explained his reasoning during an upcoming appearance on Drink Champs. N.O.R.E. shared a teaser from the interview on Instagram, on Tuesday, featuring Benzino’s comments on his neck.
“N****s want to talk about my neck. I got a f*cking neck. Everybody has f*cking neck. Shannon Sharpe don’t got a neck. Like, Shannon Sharpe’s neck is as big as mine. Y’all don’t say nothing about Shannon Sharpe,” he argued.
Benzino isn’t the only one to take a shot at Shannon Sharpe in recent days. Comedian Mike Epps also called him out during a stand-up routine. After a back and forth between the two, Sharpe revealed that they decided to sit down with one another on Club Shay Shay and hash things out. “UNC and @TheRealMikeEpps have decided 2 have a man 2 man conversation in Indy at NBA all star weekend 2 discuss our differences,” he said on Twitter. “We both realize this situation could’ve been, should’ve been handled differently. I apologize 2 fam, friends, love 1s and my fans.” Check out Benzino’s comments on remarks about his neck and subsequent dig at Sharpe below. Sharpe has not responded to the comments.
Prior to his interview on Drink Champs, Benzino made headlines for his long-standing feud with Eminem. The two released a pair of diss tracks aimed at one another in recent weeks. Additionally, he’s traded shots with Joe Budden. Benzino’s full appearance on Drink Champs will be dropping later this week. Be on the lookout for further updates on the rapper on HotNewHipHop.
