“Oppenheimer” Sex Scenes “F**king Powerful,” Cillian Murphy Says, Film Censored In Some Places

The two biggest movies in theatres right now, Barbie and Oppenheimer, are drawing audiences in for very different reasons. The former is all about fashion, feminism, and a fantastic soundtrack. On the other hand, the latter is far more chilling (and sometimes scandalous) in nature. More specifically, lead actor Cillian Murphy’s sex scenes with co-star Florence Pugh are causing quite the stir. So much so, in fact, that they’re being censored with CGI while playing in select Asian markets.

“Those scenes were written deliberately,” the Irish performer told the Sydney Morning Herald recently. “He knew that those scenes would get the movie the rating that it got. And I think when you see it, it’s so f**king powerful,” Murphy added of director Christopher Nolan’s work. He went on to state that the intimate moments between the two actors aren’t “gratuitous,” but rather, “perfect.” Cillian also made it known that Pugh is “amazing,” even if certain countries refuse to show her naked body on screen.

According to Newsweek, both India and Indonesia are playing edited cuts of Oppenheimer in favour of more modesty. Bangladesh is also following suit as more backlash ensues for the creator’s decision to quote from the Bhagavad Gita while Oppenheimer and his mistress make love. “I am become death, destroyer of worlds,” Murphy’s character says in the film, a line the real-life nuclear bomb inventor previously recited when reflecting on his deathly work.

Whether you’re team Oppenheimer or Barbie – or among those who plan on seeing both – we can all agree that it’s refreshing to see the internet discussing something other than Lena The Plug and Jason Luv’s sex tape, or the constant drama between Blueface and Chrisean Rock. Nolan’s latest project is doing undeniably well at the box office, but still, it can’t quite beat what Greta Gerwig has managed to achieve with her new movie. The Weeknd Reportedly “Ordered” To Film Unscripted Assault Scene For “The Idol”

Per an on-set source who spoke to Page Six, The Idol showrunner and director Sam Levinson “ordered” The Weeknd to film a scene in which his character rapes the character played by Lily Rose-Depp. According to the source, Levinson made a surprise mid-scene adjustment during the shooting of a sex scene for the show’s fourth episode. Levinson reportedly “explicitly directed” The Weeknd to have Tedros “strangle” Jocelyn before ejaculating inside her. Furthermore, these non-consensual elements of the scene were not in the original script. However, the scene was reportedly cut from the episode entirely.

Levinson was “by the monitor, laughing and feeding lines to Abel’s character, like, ‘I own you,’” the source alleges. While The Weeknd and Rose-Depp did the scene as instructed, many of the production staff present found it “extremely disturbing.” Additionally, the show’s intimacy director, Mam Smith, declined to comment on the scene when approached by Page Six. The revelation is in spite of the source also claiming that Levinson “does not take issues of consent lightly” and “was committed to creating a safe, collaborative, and mutually respectful working environment on set.”

However, this is just the latest story from the set of The Idol, whose production is almost as infamous as the finished product. “It was, let’s just say, a shitshow,” one producer told Rolling Stone in a scathing investigation into the show’s creation. On the surface, it appeared that the show, looking to bank off the infamy and name recognition of Levinson, was rushed into production to fill the Sunday night HBO slot vacated by House of the Dragon. That led to shooting delays, multiple reshoots, and even massive script rewrites.

But the problems only go deeper. Original series director Amy Seimetz reportedly left 80% of the way through production. She claimed she felt forced out, with The Weeknd allegedly claiming that the show, for which he serves as co-creator, was leaning into too much of a “female perspective” with Seimetz at the helm. That led to Levinson taking over, scrapping everything Seimetz had done, and starting from scratch. Additionally, The Weeknd has been described as “egomaniacal” by on-set sources. All of this culminated in a show that has been panned by audiences and critics. The Idol will air its final episode on July 2. Furthermore, HBO is yet to officially cancel the show or greenlight a second season.

Chlöe Responds To Backlash Over “Swarm” Sex Scene

Chlöe just responded to backlash over a sex scene in the TV show “Swarm,” where she acted with Damson Idris. Moreover, she spoke to Big Boy about the issue, who expressed confusion as to why people made a fuss over the moment in the first place. As the radio host rightfully points out, she barely appears in the scene, as the primary focus is on Damson. Furthermore, the Neighborhood icon brought up that the Bailey sister’s costar didn’t receive as much criticism for the scene as her, calling out gender standards. While she didn’t disagree, she said that she learned to focus on what made the project so compelling and dismiss undue criticism at face value.

“So I’m an actress, you know?” the artist began. “And I feel like it’s about art. When I first received the script, it was just insane and gorgeous. I think people are actually forgetting the plot of that scene. It’s not about seeing me in the mirror of that scene. But I think because it’s me doing it, that’s what kind of makes it blow out of proportion. But I’m barely seen for two seconds in that” Then, Big Boy asked whether Idris also received flack for the scene. “I don’t think so,” Chlöe replied, “’cause he’s a man.”

Chlöe Responds To Critics Of Her Sex Scene In “Swarm”

In fact, that’s a similar sentient to “Grown-is” costar Trevor Jackson’s defense of Chlöe and the scene in question. “I haven’t seen it yet, but it’s art,” he told TMZ when asked about the controversial scene. “And I support Chlöe in any and everything that she does. He added, “She’s an amazing person, and she’s an artist. She can do whatever she wants, whatever she feels led to do. It’s her life, and she’ll always have my support every time.”

Meanwhile, the “Body Do” singer said that she was very nervous about recording the intimate performance. “I was very scared because I haven’t had that many partners,” she revealed to Deadline. “I’m not like that, that sexual and open. Damson made it very comfortable, you know, there were limited people on set. We were making a joke out of it. I have to give a lot of kudos to him as a man for making me as a woman feel comfortable literally being raw and naked.” Regardless of your take, log back into HNHH for the latest on Chlöe.

Chloe Bailey Reflects On Sex Scene With Damson Idris, Says She Was Nervous Due To Lack Of Experience

Physical intimacy is one of the most vulnerable things two humans can share. Having to perform it (or at least fake it) in front of a camera crew and Hollywood executives adds all the more pressure. Recently, Chloe Bailey experienced this for the first time on the set of Donald Glover’s Swarm series. Thankfully, she had a great partner – British actor Damson Idris – to help her through the terrifying scene.

Ahead of the series premiere, the R&B artist and other members of the cast spoke with Deadline. “When I first read the script I was like, ‘Oh, this is insane,’” Bailey recalled. “‘This is incredible.’ I cried, and then I realized, ‘You gotta do that sex scene girl.’” She’s relatively open and liberal with her body (as her regular Instagram thirst traps can attest). Still, her lack of past sexual partners apparently made filming all the more nerve-wracking.

Chlöe Dishes on Her Steamy Sex Scene

“I was very scared because I haven’t had that many partners,” the “Treat Me” songstress told Deadline. “I’m not like that, that sexual and open. Damson made it very comfortable, you know, there were limited people on set,” she added. According to Bailey, she and Idris even shared a few laughs between takes. They also kept a bouncy ball between their bodies. “We were making a joke out of it,” she said, noting that her co-stars’ good vibes wiped away her nervousness.

“I have to give a lot of kudos to him as a man for making me as a woman feel comfortable literally being raw and naked,” the 24-year-old praised Lori Harvey’s boyfriend. Other famous faces set to appear on screen include Michael Jackson’s daughter, Paris, as Hailey, and Dominique Fishback in the leading role of Dre. The trailer for Swarm arrived last month, and already, audiences can’t wait to see what Glover’s next project will bring.

Donald Glover’s Swarm

The highly anticipated series officially premiered at SXSW this past Friday (March 10), and will arrive on Amazon Prime Video next week, on March 17. It tells the story of, “a young woman whose obsession with a pop star takes a dark turn.” Check out the teaser above. Afterward, let us know if you’ll be tuning in to catch Chloe Bailey’s performance in the comments.
