Quavo’s Forthcoming ‘Rocket Power’ Album Is A ‘Therapy’ Session Fueled By The ‘Strength’ Takeoff Passed Onto Him

Quavo has made it abundantly clear that Migos will not be reuniting musically. However, that isn’t stopping the rapper from moving forward with solo music. The “Honey Bun” rapper’s forthcoming sophomore album, Rocket Power, has a special guardian angel. Fueled by the strength his late nephew, Takeoff instilled in him, Quavo is ready to jump back into music full-time.

Speaking on the upcoming release, the musician took to Instagram to write, “This album is for the Rocket, our true fans, and also this is my therapy. This album is a true reflection of how I feel right now.”

He added, “Sometimes I’m good, sometimes I’m down, sometimes I’m disappointed, sometimes I fall apart, but then I always find my strength again. I know everything might not be alright right now, but the Rocket showed me a way to make it right! Rocket Power keeps me going. Rocket Power gives me fuel. ‘Rocket Power’ will help us all overcome whatever we’re going through.”

This isn’t the first the entertainer took to the booth to record new music in Takeoff’s name. At the top of the year, Quavo dropped “Without You,” which he went on to perform the track at the 2023 Grammys.

Quavo Gives “Rocket Power” Album Update: “This Is My Therapy… I ALWAYS Find My Strength Again”

It’s already been half a year since the world said a tragic and untimely goodbye to Migos lyricist Takeoff. The entire hip-hop community was broken up over the young lyricist’s death. Still, no one is taking it harder than his uncle and partner in rhyme, Quavo. At the time of the fatal shooting that took Take away, he and his Migos collaborator had just shared their joint Only Built for Infinity Links album which included the uber-successful “HOTEL LOBBY” single. Despite their beef with Offset, the pair was in their prime when one half lost his life, leaving his lifelong pal to mourn.

Quavo has been keeping mostly lowkey in recent weeks, though earlier this month he did confirm that his next solo album, Rocket Power, will be a tribute to Takeoff. On Tuesday (May 23), the Georgia-born artist returned to Instagram with an update on the release, which he says is “coming soon.” In his caption, Q wrote, “This album is for the Rocket and our true fans. Also, this is my therapy.”

Quavo Speaks on His Next Solo Project

His heartfelt message continued, “This is [an] album of true reflection of how I feel right now. Sometimes I’m good, sometimes I’m down, and sometimes I’m disappointed. Sometimes I fall apart but then I ALWAYS find my strength again.” Quavo assured his followers that while he knows “everything might not be alright right now, the rocket showed [him] a way to make it RIGHT!” The 32-year-old concluded his message with, “Rocket Power keeps me going, rocket power gives me fuel. Rocket Power will help us all overcome whatever we’re going through.”

An official release date and tracklist for the project have yet to arrive, though fans are curious as to whether Q will be connecting with any other artists. Regardless of the time it takes for the former Migo to complete his “therapy,” we can’t wait to hear what he has in store. Are you looking forward to Quavo’s Rocket Power project? Quavo Dedicates New Solo Album “Rocket Power” To TakeOff

Quavo has yet another tribute planned for his late nephew. The rapper has revealed that his forthcoming solo album, Rocket Power, will be dedicated to TakeOff. During an Instagram Live on May 11, he played some new tracks from the album for fans. Quavo interrupted the stream briefly to check out the NFL’s season schedule drop but returned to continue playing the music. After the live stream, the rapper posted a picture of TakeOff on Instagram. There, he called him a “king” and used the rocket emoji that TakeOff had previously used to promote his own 2018 solo album, The Last Rocket.

TakeOff, Quavo’s nephew, was shot and killed in Houston, Texas, last November. The rapper has previously paid tribute to TakeOff on social media. He has now dedicated his upcoming solo project to him, as well. The album, Rocket Power, is Quavo’s first solo release since his 2018 album, QUAVO HUNCHO. The Migos member did not announce a release date for Rocket Power. However, he did teased plenty of new tracks during the Instagram Live, which has since been viewed by thousands of his fans.

Quavo’s Heartbreak Over TakeOff’s Untimely Death

On November 1, 2022, TakeOff was fatally shot outside a bowling alley in Houston. The rapper was 28 at the time of his death. According to police, he was an innocent bystander in the situation. He was caught in the crossfire of a dice game that Quavo and other men were involved in. After an altercation, the game quickly turned violent and resulted in a tragic shooting.

In January, Quavo released the single “Without You,” which he performed at the 2023 Grammy Awards with a photo of TakeOff displayed in the background. Later, the rapper dropped another tribute to his late nephew and collaborator called “Greatness.” This new solo project will Quavo’s first since his debut solo effort Quavo Huncho in 2018. That project featured guest appearances from Drake, 21 Savage, Saweetie, and others. The album debuted at No. 66 on the Billboard 200.
