Carlee Russell To Pay $18K In Restitution, Found Guilty For Fake Kidnapping

Back in July, 26-year-old student Carlee Russell made headlines after her family reported her missing. She returned home only three days after her disappearance, claiming that she had been abducted. Though friends and family were overjoyed that Russell was uninjured, spectators were quick to call out some inconsistencies in her case.

Speculation that Russell’s kidnapping may have been a hoax was later confirmed by her attorney. “There was no kidnapping on Thursday, July 13, 2023,” they explained. “My client apologizes for her actions to this community, to volunteers who were searching for her, to the Hoover Police Department and other agencies as well, as to her friends and family. We ask for your prayers for Carlee as she addresses her issues and attempts to move forward understanding that she made a mistake in this matter. Carlee again asks for your forgiveness and prayers.”

Carlee Russell Could Face Jail Time

An arrest warrant was eventually issued, and Russell turned herself in. She was then charged with two misdemeanors, making a false report to authorities and falsely reporting an incident. She appeared in court today, pleading not guilty to her charges. Judge Brad Bishop, however, found her guilty of both. She’s now been ordered to pay more than $18k in restitution, on top of $831 per charge. She could also be looking at jail time, as the judge recommends a one-year sentence. According to her attorney, she plans to appeal the decision.

“We stipulated and appealed the case and the reason behind it was that they’re trying to ask for jail time, which we totally disagree with,” her attorney explained. “So, in fairness, there’s no need of having a trial here, knowing their position. So we have stipulated and appealed the case and we’ll start anew in the Bessemer circuit court.” What do you think of Carlee Russell being found guilty? Do you think the judge’s decision was fair? R. Kelly & UMG Ordered To Pay $500K In Victim Restitution From Royalties

It seems like, despite R. Kelly’s failure to comply with victim restitution, the court is still able to get the money victims deserve. Moreover, according to legal documents obtained by TMZ Hip Hop, a judge signed an order into effect that garnished $500K from the convicted singer’s royalties amid his twenty-year prison sentence for sex crimes. Apparently, Universal Music Group held a lot of his royalties and hadn’t yet paid this amount in victim restitution, for which legal authorities had to intervene. In addition, reports suggest that much of these unpaid royalties stem from the R&B artist’s older hits that UMG hadn’t cashed in yet. Specifically, the company has over $567K in royalties.

Furthermore, this would cover R. Kelly’s outstanding debt of $506,950.26 to victims- and then some. Of course, these royalties mostly relate to his past material because, when it comes to new music, the Chicago native did not see a lot of success. Labels and imprints quickly dropped him among his trials and controversies. Regardless, many fans still hold on to his classics and big tracks, and even with all of this legal reckoning in mind, they still hold a lot of weight for listeners.

In fact, the 56-year-old’s chances of ever returning to the musical realm seem quite slim. While many support him in terms of still listening to and praising his music, they also acknowledge that things are too far gone. Dame Dash is one of many industry titans who spoke on the R. Kelly situation and thought justice came to light. “I think he’s where he belongs,” the Roc-A-Fella affiliate explained. “I know Aaliyah, so I know what he did, I can’t be objective about that, you know what I’m saying? But he definitely seemed like he needed some help.

“I couldn’t believe [Jay-Z] did a project with R. Kelly knowing that he had r*ped my girl,” he added. “I was like, ‘Just don’t put my name on that, I don’t want no money from that. If it is, put it to Aaliyah foundation.’ Like, they did this s**t twice.” For more news and the latest updates on R. Kelly, come back to HNHH.

Pooh Shiesty Ordered To Pay Shooting Victims $156K In Restitution

Authorities recently ordered Pooh Shiesty to pay restitution to victims of a 2020 shooting he was involved in. According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, the Memphis rapper must pay $156,585 to those injured in the incident as part of his sentence. Also, the documents indicate that earnings made while behind bars must contribute to this total payment sum. As readers may remember, officials took Shiesty in for a 2020 shooting involving himself and other actors in a Miami parking lot, which left 2 injured.

Furthermore, surveillance video from the scene shows the artist sitting in a McLaren with an assault rifle amid gunfire. After his arrest, the court sentenced him to 63 months in prison last April. Previously, he pled guilty to one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence. Not only that, but Pooh must undergo drug and alcohol treatment programs and serve three years of supervised release upon his sentence’s end. Since this whole ordeal, we’ve heard from him sporadically, but not consistently. However, his most recent message to fans last week left many perplexed.

R. Kelly Ordered To Pay Sexual Abuse Victims $300K For Herpes & Psychological Treatment

R. Kelly’s bank account is drying up after a judge ordered him to cough up six-figures to his sexual abuse victims.

A federal judge in Brooklyn ruled on Wednesday that the singer will have to cough up $300K to one of his sexual abuse victims for treatment towards herpes and psychological treatment.

Kelly’s conviction in New York already sent him to prison but the latest update from the judge details the monetary punishment he’s facing. A victim named “Jane” must receive $300K from Kellz to cover treatment for STDs and psychological help due to the trauma she suffered. A judge issued a similar order for another victim named “Stephanie.” However, the judge didn’t set a number yet. A judge also denied a third victim restitution.

A judge handed down a 30-year sentence to R. Kelly this year in the federal New York case.

Kelly was also convicted in another federal case in Chicago where he was accused of similar sex crimes. However, the case also surrounded the 2008 child pornography trial, where he was accused of obstruction.

There’s a good chance R. Kelly will have to cough up even more money for the victims in the Chicago case, though a judge hasn’t determined how much.

Kelly’s recent court filings revealed that he is down on cash these days. Earlier this month, a judge ruled to seize $27K out of his commissary account, leaving the singer with only $500. The amount seized from his commissary will be distributed among his victims.
