Feds Seize R. Kelly’s Prison Inmate Fund Leaving Him Only $500

R. Kelly in Court federal child pornography

R. Kelly, 55 is taking another loss after the feds reportedly seized his prison commissary fund. According to Bloomberg, the singer had $140,000 in court-ordered fines to pay which led prosecutors to request a federal court to seize over $28,000.

The Bureau of Prisons also confiscated his inmate trust account with no prior court order or notice to him. The “Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number” singer has been left with only $500.

In June, Kelly was sentenced to 30 years in prison after being convicted on nine counts of various racketeering and sex trafficking charges.

A U.S. District Judge ordered that the singer pay a $100,000 fine, a $40,000 assessment under the Justice for Trafficking Victims Act and a $900 special assessment.

The convicted sex trafficker’s attorney, Jennifer Bonjean took to social media to call the government “unethical.”

donnell russell r kelly

A manager and adviser to R&B singer and convicted sex trafficker R. Kelly is pleading guilty to stalking.  Federal prosecutors in New York City say Donnell Russell used threats, harassment, and intimidation to keep one of the singer’s sexual abuse victims quiet.

“Through the use of intimidation tactics, Russell repeatedly and purposefully worked to silence ‘Jane Doe’ from revealing the emotional and physical trauma inflicted on her by R. Kelly and his associates. Despite multiple threats, Russell ultimately failed in his efforts and will now face the consequences of his despicable behavior,” said HSI Acting Special Agent-in-Charge Patel. “HSI will continue to work together with our partners to support and empower survivors of abuse and exploitation to come forward and speak out against their abusers.”

R. Kelly’s Self-Described Manager Pleads Guilty To Stalking And Harassing One Of The Singer’s Victims

Donnell Russell, who described himself as disgraced singer R. Kelly’s manager has pled guilty to stalking and harassing one of the singer’s sexual abuse victims, according to Rolling Stone. The 47-year-old was accused of harassing and intimidating a Jane Doe victim and her mother using emails, phone calls, and text messages to keep her from pursuing justice against Kelly. Russell was previously accused of making gun threats in an attempt to stop a screening of Surviving R. Kelly in New York City. Last week, he was convicted on those charges.

In a statement, United States Attorney Breon Peace said, “Russell used threats, harassment and intimidation in a deliberate effort to silence one of R. Kelly’s victims and prevent her voice from being heard. When his initial effort failed, he continued his vile campaign by sending threatening messages to Jane Doe and her mother, and publishing explicit photos of the victim on the internet before and after Kelly was indicted. As this prosecution makes clear, the defendant’s conduct was not only reprehensible, but it was also criminal and will not be tolerated.”

Among the tactics that Russell used were threats to post explicit photos of Jane Doe online if she didn’t withdraw her civil suit against him. He apparently followed through after over a year of threats, posting the photos to Facebook in 2020. He might have found a better use for his time; Kelly was found guilty of sex trafficking and racketeering last year and was sentenced last month to 30 years in prison.
