Jim Jones & Hitmaka Team Up On “Back In My Prime”

Ever since the infamous altercation at Miami’s Prime 112 in 2021 involving $oul $old $eparately rapper Freddie Gibbs, Jim Jones and Hitmaka have had fans anticipating their joint project. Though it didn’t have a title at the time, the two artists began to egg on the idea of naming it after the M.I.A steakhouse. Ultimately, Jones denied that Prime 112 was the title but later, revealed that they would refer to the project as Back In My Prime

The album’s release took a minute. Jones began teasing it as part of a 10-album rollout throughout 2022 that didn’t actually materialize. However, he insisted that the project was on the way. He and Hitmaka slowly began to unveil the project, beginning with “Gunshot” ft. BEAM. The song samples KRS-One’s “Step Into A World” and delivers a reggae-tinged offering to set the tone for what they had in store. Then, they came through with the Stefflon Don-assisted, “I Am.”

Laced with eight songs in total, the feature-heavy project fuses Jones’ lyricism and Hitmaka’s unmatched ear for an incredible offering. In addition to BEAM and Stefflon Don, the array of collaborators allow them to tap into different vibes. For example, the sultry Jeremih-assisted “FU Better” brings a lush and sexy anthem fitted for the bedroom. Then, Benny The Butcher and Jones trade bars on “Bet It All.”

Along with the array of features, which also include Ty Dolla $ign, Pleasure P, and Tink, Hitmaka links up with several producers to flesh out the album. Jim Jones & Hitmaka Lock In With Stefflon Don On “I Am”

Jim Jones and Hitmaka are gearing up for their highly anticipated project, Back In My Prime. Jones began teasing the project as early as 2021 when he revealed that he had nearly a dozen projects in the cut. At the time, he intended to drop each project month after month and flood the rap game with quality music. However, things wound up changing but we still received an influx of music, from projects like We Set The Trends to his recent Christmas project featuring many of his artists.

With the new year, Jones and Hitmaka are finally ready to share their upcoming project with the world. It seems as though it’ll also provide Jones with an excellent opportunity to showcase his versatility with records. Though projects like Wasted Talent and El Capo reminded fans of how great of a lyricist he is, what we’ve heard from Back In My Prime showcases his ability to pen hit records. It was as evident as the BEAM-assisted, “Gunshots,” which sampled KRS-One.

Jim Jones x Hitmaka – “I Am” ft. Stefflon Don

Following the release of “Seen The Money,” which features a prominent Alicia Keys sample, Jim Jones is back at it with his latest record “I AM.” This time, he connects with Stefflon Don for a crossover hit. Stefflon’s harmonies grace the hook while Jones comes through with a record for the ladies. The song boasts production from Hitmaka, Boogz, and Cardiak for a breezy anthem that undoubtedly has us excited for the upcoming Back In My Prime album.

Jones has been quite excited for the release of his new single with Stefflon Don. During our interview with him in December, he said that he felt this could be one of records to really make a mark. “The Hitmaka project is coming at the top of the year,” he said. “It’s an incredible project fully produced by Hitmaka. I’m excited, man. I got a record with Stefflon Don that I think could be a very big record.” Check the single above.

Fast forward, I put more water on your neck than a Pisces
That ass so fat in them thongs, I know you wear that to entice me
But the question is, who gon’ be there when the chips is down

Jim Jones & Hitmaka Are Back At It On “Seen The Money”

Jim Jones and Hitmaka have been teasing a new project for a minute. In fact, Jones admitted that he had over 10 projects that he was working on simultaneously with his joint effort with Hitmaka among them. The Dipset rapper’s been on an incredible run over the past few years, from projects like El Capo and Wasted Talent to his 2022 mixtape, We Set The Trends with DJ Drama. Most recently, he came through with his latest Christmas album, Jim Jones Presents: 12 Days Of Christmas. However, it appears that he’s gearing up to make a bigger splash this year.

This week, Jim Jones and Hitmaka confirmed that their joint project, Back In My Prime was set to drop. Of course, the title is a play on the infamous situation surrounding an alleged altercation at Prime 112 in Miami. Though they initially revealed the project to be titled Prime 112, Jim Jones said that wasn’t the case. However, they began unveiling the project last year with the release of “Gunshot” ft. BEAM.

Jim Jones & Hitmaka – Seen The Money

Jim Jones and Hitmaka are officially in that zone ahead of their forthcoming project, Back In My Prime. With the project slated to drop later this spring, they unloaded the latest single off of the project, “Seen The Money.” It seems that Hitmaka is truly tapping into Jones’ taste in music through samples. While “Gunshot” sampled KRS-One, “Seen The Money” finds the Dipset rapper laying down bars over a sample of Alicia Keys’s “You Don’t Know My Name.”

Jones continues to shine his lyrical abilities while providing flashes of his luxurious lifestyle. He further emphasizes this with the official music video that showcases the rapper with wads of cash and yachty-cruising with an abundance of bottles on deck. Check the single out below and sound off with your thoughts on Jones and Hitmaka’s new single.

We jumping out of Ferraris and private jets without a suitcase,
‘Cause we shop when we land, we got no top on the Lamb,
Hood n***a, all white Airs with no socks in the sand
I used to play with the keys, but the locks didn’t jam

Jim Jones Denies Fighting Freddie Gibbs At Miami Restaurant

The truth behind the infamous Prime 112 scrap involving Jim Jones and Freddie Gibbs remains a mystery as both parties continuously downplay the melee.

Jim Jones recently appeared on FlipDaScript podcast where he was certainly open to any questions sent in his direction. During the appearance, he discussed Max B, Stack Bundles, and more. However, at one point, QueenzFlip pressed the Dipset rapper about his dispute with Freddie Gibbs. “He got attacked in the same restaurant you were in. Where were you?” QueenzFlip asked Jones, who immediately denied his involvement afterward.

“I don’t remember being in any restaurant and a fight broke out,” Jones said. “I don’t like to go to them type of places where all the hip-hoppity stuff and these guys, they – you know what I mean? The big chains on and very aggressive. I’m not into that.”

“I just do music and try to stay home and stay out the way,” he continued. “These guys are actually crazy. I’m scared of most of them. Like, it’s a scary thing. You ever been in a room with a bunch of these rappers? They, like, so fucking scary. I had to hold onto my money and make sure I put it in my sock.”

Jones’ latest comes a few months following a veiled threat to leak footage of the fight. After Gibbs described the altercation as a food fight, the Dipset rapper briefly responded in a since-deleted post.

“Prime footage loadin lol,” he wrote before suggesting that it could be a career-ending moment for Gibbs. “Should I b petty or keep or player cause this shit look nasty is all I’m a say lol.”

At this point, it seems as if we might never know what really went down at Prime 112. Check out Jim Jones’ interview below.
