The restaurant where slain rapper PnB Rock, real name Rakim Allen, was murdered on Monday is open for business again.  According to reports the 30-year-old “Selfish” artist was dining with his girlfriend at Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles in South L.A, when he was shot and robbed of his jewelry.

The restaurant opened yesterday, with staff saying they had cleaned the interior.  Roscoe’s was practically empty on Tuesday, as a gruesome video showing the Philly native fighting for his life and  bleeding out on the floor circulated social media.

TMZ reported employees who were working during the shooting were given the day off. Some have called the decision to open the restaurant so soon disrespectful while others have questioned the thoroughness of the cleaning.

Rock’s girlfriend and child’s mother, Steph Sibounheuang posted their location on her IG stories that has led to much speculation of the cause of his attack. While PnB Rock was seen flashing his jewelry on his Insta story earlier that same day.

According to the LA Times, Los Angeles Police Chief Michel Moore revealed the Instagram post with geo tagging to Roscoe’s may have led to his killing.

Moore said the fatal attack “occurred soon after the rapper was tagged online as being at the restaurant,” and police are investigating whether that is what prompted the robbery. Police are still working to identify the suspect.

PnB Rock Said Rapper Robberies Were ‘Common’ Just Weeks Before He Was Shot In One

Just weeks before he was shot to death in an apparent robbery attempt, PnB Rock said rappers being robbed was “common” and described a confrontation with LA gangbangers. Appearing on DJ Akademiks’ Off The Record podcast, Rock and Akademiks discussed what some have called a trend of rappers being murdered in LA, including Nipsey Hussle in 2019, Pop Smoke in 2020, and Drakeo The Ruler in 2021. “It’s more than three [rappers getting robbed],” he asserted. “N****s be gettin’ their sh*t took. It don’t be spoken about… now it’s so common.”

PnB Rock was killed on Monday when a man reportedly accosted him while dining at Roscoe’s Chicken House Of Chicken And Waffles in South Central, demanding he hand over his jewelry while brandishing a gun. Police say there was a struggle, and at the end of it, PnB Rock had been shot. He was pronounced dead less than an hour after the initial shooting was confirmed by credible sources. His passing brought a wave of mourning from the hip-hop community.

In a bitter twist, PnB Rock had told Akademiks during their interview, “I never got robbed, ever in my life. I ain’t gonna say ‘never’ because I don’t like saying ‘never’ — I’m not superstitious — but I haven’t been robbed.”

“I’m done explaining LA Gang culture… MFs will not listen. It’s not a game.. At all.”

As for PnB Rock, the suspects in his murder has not yet been identified. In a statement to the L.A. ” [He] was with his family — with his girlfriend or some kind of friend of his — and as they’re there, enjoying a simple meal, [he] was brutally attacked by an individual who apparently [came] to the location after a social media posting,” Moore said.

Nicki Minaj Defends Her Response To PnB Rock’s Murder After A Fan Backlash

Nicki Minaj has had a tough go on social media to start the week after her response to the murder of Philadelphia rapper PnB Rock was compared unfavorably to Cardi B’s. While Nicki and Cardi have been on-and-off rivals for a while, the contrast in both of their responses was noted by fans of both, who criticized Nicki for offering advice to fellow rappers along with her condolences to PnB Rock’s friends and family.

“After Pop Smoke there’s no way we as rappers or our loved ones are still posting locations to our whereabouts,” she wrote. “To show waffles & some fried chicken????! He was such a pleasure to work with. Condolences to his mom & family. This makes me feel so sick. Jesus.” Nicki’s response was deemed inappropriate and victim-blaming as fans decried a swiftly spreading theory that the robbers who accosted PnB at Roscoe’s Chicken And Waffles in South Los Angeles were clued in by Instagram posts.

However, one thing Nicki Minaj won’t do is back down. She followed up with a string of responses peppered with all-caps exclamations, emphatically defending her point that entertainers must remain vigilant due to jealousy and greed. “The ppl around these rappers gain so much,” she insisted. “It’s time to start really reminding them over & over!!! At least TRY to put your foot down if you CARE! Tell them!!! You’re not loved like you think you are!!! You’re prey!!!! In a world full of predators!!!! What’s not clicking???!!!”

“It’s never the wrong time!” she continued. “f it saves ONE YOUNG RAPPER!!!! JUST ONE!!!!! THEN WE’VE DONE OUR JOBS!!!!! I spoke on losing our own @ the VMAS!!!! Enough is enough!!!! MY GOD. IDGAF about no fkng hate tweets!!!! Go fuck y’all dumb fkng selves!!!!! Y’all r not the ones that be bawling crying after you just worked with or just spoke to ONE OF YOUR OWN!!!!! I BELONG TO THIS SHIT. IMA FKNG SPEAK ON IT!!!! If it gets attention from y’all being ignorant than so be it!!! At least it’ll save lives. FOH.”

Fans Are Comparing Cardi B And Nicki Minaj’s Very Different Reactions To PnB Rock’s Death

Yesterday, PnB Rock died at 30 years old after he was fatally shot at a Roscoe’s Chicken And Waffles diner in Los Angeles. Many in the hip-hop community mourned the rapper’s passing and fans noticed a distinct difference in the messages from two rappers who are constantly pitted against each other: Cardi B and Nicki Minaj.

For context, some made note that shortly before RnB Rock’s death, his girlfriend shared a photo of her Roscoe’s meal and tagged her and PnB’s location on Instagram. Some suspect the person who shot RnB Rock saw that and then went to find and shoot the rapper.

Cardi addressed that in her reaction, tweeting, “I highly doubt n****s was looking at PMB’s babymom IG. He was in a bad location and people stay outside plotting. It’s very irresponsible and inconsiderate to blame her for something so tragic. We should be sending nothing but love to her and his family at this time.”

Meanwhile, Nicki’s reaction, shared about 45 minutes after Cardi’s, had a different tone, as she wrote, “After Pop Smoke there’s no way we as rappers or our loved ones are still posting locations to our whereabouts. To show waffles & some fried chicken????! He was such a pleasure to work with. Condolences to his mom & family. This makes me feel so sick. Jesus. #SIP #PnbRock [dove emoji].”

Twitter users took exception with Nicki’s approach, with one summarizing, “be like Cardi. Don’t be like Nicki and victim blame PnB Rock’s girlfriend. She’s mourning too [single tear emoji].”

Check out some reactions to Cardi and Nicki’s tweets below.

Cardi B is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.
