Usher & Little Simz Get Grand On Our New “R&B Season” Playlist Update: Stream

It’s a big month for new music releases, and our R&B Season playlist update is here to round up the best soulful jams from this week. Leading the way is a massive one, which comes paired with an even more massive event. Moreover, Usher previewed his Super Bowl halftime show with a brand new album, COMING HOME, which released over the weekend. It has a lot of different melodic styles, aesthetic approaches, and dynamic displays of his vocal range and songwriting talent. If you’re looking for a couple of tracks to clue you into the project, we’d recommend “Kissing Strangers” and “Stone Kold Freak” as particular highlights.

Furthermore, our R&B Season update also contains a pretty big team-up between superstar artists in the fields of R&B and hip-hop. Of course, we’re referring to the new collaborative single between Jermaine Dupri, Nelly, Ashanti, and Juicy J, which is titled “This Lil’ Game We Play.” It’s a fast-paced and heavily danceable jam with a lot of personality, lust, and plenty of charisma from its artists. It’s been a long time since we got a radio-style song that encompasses pure fun, and nothing more to crowd up the mix.

In addition, the most underrated pick on our R&B Season update is easily the new release from Tommy Richman, a dual single with “SOULCRUSHER” and “WHAT DO U LIKE.” Specifically, we want to shout out the latter for its creative flip of Jersey club rhythms in a wavier and more melodically constant atmosphere than what those beats typically match with. It’s a pretty catchy song with simple synth embellishments and a lot of layered harmonies. If there’s something more long-form on the way from Richman, we can’t wait to dive in.

Finally, for the best music release of the week, we have the one and only Little Simz’s new EP, Drop 7. Similar to “WHAT DO U LIKE,” which brightened and re-contextualized Jersey club, Simz’s “Far Away” revitalizes those drums, while also giving the same treatment to drill. It’s a gorgeous cut vocally, and the tender pianos anchor it in a dreamy mood. Let us know what your favorite R&B Season pick was this week, and what else we missed too. Check out the playlist above and, as always, stick around on HNHH for the latest great music releases around the clock.

Kanye West & Latto Go Wild On Our New “Fire Emoji” Playlist Update: Stream

It’s a big week for our Fire Emoji playlist update, which rounded up the best of the best hip-hop that released this week. Leading the way is the much-anticipated collaborative album between Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign, Vultures, which finally landed on most streaming platforms. We highlighted the single “Talking” with North West, which dropped earlier this week, but we’d also recommend highlights like “Fuk Sumn” with Travis Scott and Playboi Carti. In addition, Latto lit up the femcee world with her new single “Sunday Service,” which some fans think is a diss toward other female rappers. She maintains that it’s not that deep, but all that attention for a true-blue banger can’t hurt.

Furthermore, another Fire Emoji highlight, speaking of trunk-knockers from women in hip-hop, is GloRilla’s new single, “Yeah Glo!” Like any amazing Memphis banger, this has an unstoppable and confident flow, heavy drums, and light melodic elements that still preserve the song’s griminess. Another simple but menacing offering this week came from BabyDrill and Luh Tyler, who linked up for their newest record “ScoreGod.” Their nonchalant deliveries and ethereal, organ-like synth hits make an atmosphere that’s as woozy as it is hard-hitting.

But you might be wanting a more lyrical offering this week, and for that, look no further than Stove God Cooks’ new single “Melo Chip and a Brick.” It’s a fiery performance from the Griselda-affiliated spitter, paired with a brash but dramatically enveloping sample flip from none other than Conductor Williams. Alas, it wouldn’t be a Fire Emoji update if we didn’t also mention a Chief Keef release, if applicable any given week. His new Mike WiLL Made-It collaboration, the cut “DIRTY NACHOS,” is a fiery and aggressive addition to his already heated catalog.

Finally, for the best release of the week, we have Little Simz’s new EP Drop 7, on which “I Ain’t Feelin It” is a dangerously cool and intoxicating jam. What was your favorite Fire Emoji release this week -– and what did we miss? Drop your thoughts in the comments section down below and check out the playlist above. Usher & Zacari Bring The Smoothness To Our New “R&B Season” Playlist Update: Stream

February isn’t getting any hotter for the northern hemisphere, but that doesn’t mean that the soul is getting colder. Moreover, we rounded up the very best of the best new music of the week on our new R&B Season playlist update in this genre’s field. While sometimes that genre barrier can become a little blurry, this next collaboration and artist falls firmly in that camp. Of course, we’re talking about “The King Of R&B,” Usher, and his newest team-up with Pheelz, their single “Ruin.” However, while the vocals definitely fit within that style, the Afrobeat-inspired beat makes for a uniquely breezy take that shows off a lot of vocal strength.

Next up on our R&B Season playlist update is the new Zacari song, “Ocean,” which is a another smooth and pleasant jam. Of course, the vocalist does very well switching between lower tones and high-pitched falsettos, which gives some nice dynamism to the guitar-led beat. Also, additional production elements such as flanging, atmospheric synth pads, and more add to the emotive punch of the song and make it stand out from a typical ballad. Overall, it’s an easy add to a driving playlist or for more chill vibes.

Speaking of atmosphere, we’d be remiss not to shout out SAFE’s new song, “Same Night,” on this week’s R&B Season playlist update. It’s another romantic cut that finds strength in its warbled samples and slow, reverb-drenched drum beat with sharp snares and crisp hi-hats. Not only that, but his vocals never overwhelm the instrumentation and vice versa, and it’s a very nice balance between tense swells and melancholy valleys. Even though it’s not the most eventful track here, it’s exactly the kind of mood-setting that much of this genre champions so well.

Finally, we wanted to give a nod to Daniel Caesar’s soft and patient cover of “Waiting In Vain” by Bob Marley, off of One Love – Music Inspired By The Film. This reimagining is definitely more sultry and less joyful than its original, but its strong sentiment and narrative core still holds on tight. Let us know in the comments what your favorite release on our R&B Season playlist update was this week -– and what else we missed, too. Check out the playlist above and, as always, log back into HNHH for more great music drops around the clock.

Lil Yachty & TiaCorine Get Odd On Our New “Fire Emoji” Playlist Update: Stream

Welcome to February: the first releases of the year are out, we’ve had time to enjoy them, and now it’s time for the big guns to come out. While this is by no means a ridiculously huge release window, our new Fire Emoji playlist update and its round-up of the best of the best hip-hop this week proves that things will only get better as 2024 draws on. Leading the way is Lil Yachty’s new single “A Cold Sunday,” one of the most creative and unique rap tracks he’s ever done. With an odd time signature, and flows and drums that adapt on a dime, it’s a dizzying but still soulful record that the Atlanta native still shines on.

Next on Fire Emoji is TiaCorine’s new eight-track offering Almost There, with a lot of colorful and aggressive highlights. However, “Blick” with Key Glock might be the best out of these, with heavy distortion and fiery performances giving off so much energy. Another project release this week was Hit-Boy and The Alchemist’s THEODORE & ANDRE EP, on which the menacing and woozy “THE MAIN EVENT” with Johnathan Hulett bangs hard. Also, Icewear Vezzo’s Live From The 6, particularly the track “Rap Game,” is your fun-to-no-end Detroit rap offering this week.

Not only that, but Fire Emoji also highlights the best singles this week, whose artists will hopefully keep grinding in 2024. For example, Don Toliver made his return with “Bandit,” an epic and wavy trap banger with his always vibrant vocal tone. In addition, That Mexican OT tapped DaBaby for “Point Em Out,” which takes all the most cold-blooded elements of many regional scenes and combines them into a trunk-knocker. We’d be remiss not to shout out NBA YoungBoy’s “BNYX Da Reaper,” too, and this collaboration is a refreshing and successful triumph for both its rapper and its producer.

Meanwhile, JT delivered the most confident and cool-as-a-cucumber performance of this whole update on “Sideways.” Finally, there’s YNW Melly and YNW BSlime teaming up for a light and croon-heavy cut, “772 Love Pt. 3 (Your Love).” Let us know in the comments section what your favorite release on this Fire Emoji update was in the comments -– and what else we missed this week, too. Teezo Touchdown Scores Big On Our New “R&B Season” Playlist Update: Stream

While it’s not the most stacked one in our history, this R&B Season playlist update still contains some of the best music to have dropped this week. Leading the way is the star-studded Lyrical Lemonade album All Is Yellow, put together by Cole Bennett and all the supporting artists. One of the most soulful and tender cuts on the project is the excellent “Hummingbird,” which reunites a compelling and eclectic cast. Teezo Touchdown, SahBabii, and UMI come together with a lot of chemistry over some acoustic guitar flutters and harmonious background vocals. Not only that, but it also finds each musician slightly out of their comfort zone thanks to the unexpected nature of this collab, although Teezo is certainly cozy with surprises and fusions.

Next on our R&B Season playlist update is Rhyan Douglas’ new single “Conversations,” which kicks off with woozy and swirling vocal samples. Eventually, it falls into the sultry and snap-led R&B rhythm that we’ve grown to love from the genre, complete with high-pitched, ethereal croons. Eventually, vocal processing, soft piano, and dynamic range from Douglas fleshes out the song a little bit more, yet it doesn’t lose its atmosphere. In fact, it’s impressive and surprising that the record never swells or explodes percussively, yet you can still feel a strong momentum as you’re closing it out.

Meanwhile, back to projects on our R&B Season playlist, we have a new four-track EP (Blended) from Emotional Oranges and Nonso Amadi. It’s a light, breezy, and easy-going bite-sized treat of dancehall, Afrobeat, and soul fusions, of which “Simple Things” is a particular highlight. Again, we have guitars leading the way melodically and chord-wise, whereas all vocalists can show off their range and runs in this lovey-dovey narrative. While the identity of the song is a bit blurry, this treatment of different styles is also what will make it resonate for many listeners out there.

Finally, we have a new release from SiR, the two-and-a-half-minute slow burn “No Evil.” Thanks to growly bass, soaring and raspy vocals, and the otherwise dreamy atmosphere on the song, this is one of the most passionate and hard-hitting cuts you’ll find all week, even if it’s a little strong on the ears on first impact. With that in mind, let us know what your favorite R&B Season playlist pick was this week -– and what else we missed, too. Check out the new additions above and log back into HNHH for the latest great music releases around the clock.

Megan Thee Stallion & Benny The Butcher Lead The Pack On Our New “Fire Emoji” Playlist Update: Stream

HotNewHipHop’s Fire Emoji playlist is home to plenty of notable releases this week. Artists have made their debuts, femcees have gone for each other’s throats, and rappers have unveiled their eagerly-anticipated LPs. Megan Thee Stallion quite literally kicks things off by saying “f*ck y’all,” unleashing her inner snake on “Hiss.” The track sees the Houston hottie take aim at critics and reignite her messy feud with Nicki Minaj. She describes the track as a “warning,” and it goes without saying that she got the message across. The song is unapologetic and bold, with Meg notifying haters that she’s not only here to stay, but here to conquer.

Ice Spice also came through with a read this week on “Think U the Sh*t (Fart),” reminding listeners that no other MC can come close. The Bronx-born baddie lends her signature, focused flow to carefree bars about breaking hearts and taking names on a track grounded by bubby, fun production. She also cruises around Miami in the accompanying music video, partying with her crew and hitting up the local deli.

Next up is Benny The Butcher, who unveiled his anxiously awaited new album Everybody Can’t Go this week. Fans see the return of the New York native’s entourage on “Griselda Express,” featuring Westside Gunn, Conway The Machine, and Rick Hyde. He also joined forces with Jadakiss and Babyface Ray for “Pillow Talk & Slander,” spitting about taking back what belongs to him.

Elsewhere on this week’s update, Cole Bennett of Lyrical Lemonade dropped off his compilation project All Is Yellow. He recruited high-profile performers like Chief Keef, Lil Yachty, Teezo Touchdown, and more. Kevin Gates finally unveiled The Ceremony, making waves with his track “Lil Yeah.” Tierra Whack and Skepta also dropped off bangers while ATL Jacob teamed up with Quavo, and 21 Lil Harold enlisted JID. Blxst & Kyle Dion Lighten The Mood On Our New “R&B Season” Playlist Update: Stream

Our R&B Season playlist is back this week, rounding up the best jams, bops, and bangers that came out for your convenience. We have a couple of hot singles to talk about this time around, including Blxst’s latest effort, “Heart Ain’t Empty.” Moreover, this track opens up with soft and gorgeous keys, which leads to a characteristically buttery vocal performance from him. In fact, the song maintains this vibe throughout its entire runtime, spotlighting the West Coast artist’s penchant for honest lyricism and focused melodic treatments. It’s definitely one of the most easy-going and consistent cuts you’ll hear this week, but it’s R&B Season; what else did you expect?

Furthermore, another cut that will warm your heart this winter season (if you live in applicable weather, of course) is Naomi Sharon’s “Nothing Sweeter.” Not only does this single’s leading acoustic guitar crisply guide her croons, but very subtle synth pad additions give the song an extra earthiness. As far as the singer’s lyricism, it’s another pontification on love, particularly the emotions that surge with a first-time meeting. Few cuts this week will embody this spirit as well, and it’s an amazing way to kick off a morning in our view.

Sole cuts aside, we also have two brand-new, short, but nonetheless gratifying projects to talk about on this R&B Season update. The first is DESTIN CONRAD’s SUBMISSIVE2, on which “IT’S ONLY YOU” is a sultry, slow-burning, dancehall-inspired highlight. In addition, there’s Kyle Dion’s latest collection, If My Jeans Could Talk, on which there’s a lot of charisma and personality. Furthermore, “Kissy” is a bright, passionate, and funky escapade that might emulate the feeling you get when that special person sweeps you off your feet.

Rounding out our additions is the newest single from Honey Bxby featuring Kaliii, “Touchin’,” with a nice R&B-rap blend and an undeniable bassline. Finally, we want to shout out “Millionth Time” by Joël Lobban for its well-paced and dreamy atmosphere. Let us know in the comments what your favorite R&B Season selection this week was -– and what else we missed, too. Nicki Minaj & Future Bring “Gag City” To Our New “Fire Emoji” Playlist Update: Stream

HotNewHipHop‘s Fire Emoji playlist update for this week is your destination to get the best of the best hip-hop releases this week, and we had a lot of hot singles and projects to highlight. Moreover, leading the way are Nicki Minaj and Future, who invite us to “Press Play” on their newest collab off Pink Friday 2 (Gag City PLUTO Edition). It’s a fast-paced, confident, and relentless trade-off between both lyricists as they let their flows and trill hi-hats and snares do the talking. Also on the new album tip, Rot Ken came through with a 15-track effort Kenny World featuring Kenny Mason, SoFaygo, and more. Particularly, Young Nudy woozily and fittingly assists on the cut “Miracle,” a bouncy trap banger with dreamy synths.

However, Fire Emoji also contains a lot of lyrical mastery this week, most expertly coming from Conway The Machine and Cool & Dre’s “Give & Give.” It’s a soulful sample-led meeting between legends and a legend in the making that’s a treat to see with its triumphant atmosphere. In addition, we also have Sir Gangsta. T and Curren$y’s new ethereal and abstractly structured single “Jet Life Over H*es.” It switches between drumless soundscapes and a West Coast-inspired bounce to great effect, and their flows here are choppy but in the most engaging way possible.

Not only that, but we finally got a pretty anticipated release from Anycia and Latto, “BACK OUTSIDE,” that fans loved the teasers for. Over a horn-heavy trunk-knocker, both femcees show off a lot of swagger and don’t let up on their fiery performances, both lyrically and technically. Elsewhere on Fire Emoji is Fivio Foreign and Meek Mill’s “Same 24,” which sees both of them in more introspective and measured lanes with show-stopping results. Finesse2tymes and Rick Ross turn their come-up into triumph on “Fat Boy,” and they display a lot of chemistry.

Meanwhile, Joey Bada$$ got into his melodic bag on the KayCyy collab “Passports & Suitcases,” an exciting and promising new direction for him. Finally, we want to shout out Rob49 and Lil Wayne’s “Wassam Baby” for its breakneck pace and verses. Let us know in the comments what your favorite Fire Emoji release was this week -– and what else we missed. Kali Uchis & Jhene Aiko Update Our “R&B Season” Playlist With Grace: Stream

Our R&B Season playlist is back with another update, rounding up some of the best new music that releases this week. Moreover, when it comes to more soulful releases, there was one big album that we can’t go any longer without mentioning: Kali Uchis’ new album ORQUÍDEAS. Two specific tracks that go great together off this gorgeous project actually dropped as a joint music video the day before the record dropped: “Tu Corazón Es Mío / Diosa.” What’s more is that the Colombian-Virginian artist used this visual to officially announce that she and Don Toliver are expecting a child together. Congratulations to the happy couple!

Elsewhere on our R&B Season update, we also shouted out the newest offering from Jhené Aiko, “Sun/Son.” It’s a vocally wondrous cut with a lot of layered harmonies, syncopated chants, and comfortingly warm piano and synth keys that will calm you down. Complimenting this all is a sultry and steady drum beat with crisp rimshots that sit comfortably in the back of the mix. However, the name of the game is the Chilombo star’s captivating performance, as she fills in the empty spaces of this song with a lot of passion and with dynamic range.

Meanwhile, another highlight on R&B Season this week comes courtesy of The Book Of Clarence‘s soundtrack, on which the film’s director Jeymes Samuel worked extensively. Furthermore, he and Jorja Smith crafted another impassioned, orchestral, and grand piece with “Champagne,” soulfully bringing a slow funkiness to the collection. Another standouvt drama-tinged anthem is “best thing for me” by Samaria, which brings the tempo even further down. It’s a great mix of a traditional smooth R&B swing with soaring guitars, a high-pitched vocal display with plenty of personality, and whimsical chimes.

Last but not least, Ariana Grande is officially and finally back with her ’80s and dance-inspired single, “yes, and?” After resolving some relationship drama in 2023, we can’t wait to see what the pop darling brings this year. Let us know in the comments what your favorite R&B Season pick was this week– and what else we missed, too. 21 Savage & Kid Cudi Hit Hard On Our New “Fire Emoji” Playlist Update: Stream

Now we’re talking; the second week of 2023 held so many amazing albums, singles, and everything in between for hip-hop. As such, we have a stacked and pretty hefty Fire Emoji playlist update rounding up the best of the best this week, so strap in. First up are two massive albums from two beloved creatives in the game right now: Kid Cudi’s INSANO and 21 Savage’s american dream. As for the former, we’d recommend “WOW” with A$AP Rocky and “GET OFF ME” with Travis Scott as particular highlights. In fact, La Flame returns on the standout “née-nah” with Metro Boomin off 21’s aforementioned album, which also includes amazing cuts like “pop ur s**t” with Young Thug and Metro, plus the murderous “redrum.”

Furthermore, let’s switch things up on Fire Emoji and talk about some true lyrical killers, some of which switched things up. For example, Joey Bada$$ teamed up with Lyrical Lemonade, Gus Dapperton, and Lil Yachty for “Fallout.” Not only that, but if you’re looking for some Griselda-related vibes this week, look no further than Benny The Butcher’s new single “BRON.” Along that same vein, Boldy James and Nicholas Craven just dropped an excellent album, Penalty of Leadership, on which “Formal Invite” is a stunning opener.

Meanwhile, Fire Emoji also brings us hot new tracks from rising artists, such as TiaCorine and Luh Tyler’s new cut, “Yung Joc.” In addition, That Mexican OT continues his prolific streak with the single “02.02.99,” furthering his blend of many Southern rap styles. We included Paris Texas and Kenny Mason’s 2023 cut “DnD” on our update to prepare you for their newest collaboration, “Big Bank,” which dropped this week. That also features Billy Lemos and is connected to Pigeons & Planes and Big A** Kids‘ See You Next Year collective.

Rounding our list out, we wanted to shoutout Doja Cat, Kodak Black, Adekunle Gold, and Jeymes Samuel for “JEEZU” off of The Book Of Clarence‘s soundtrack. Lil Tjay also dropped a single this week titled “Told Ya,” and Kevin Gates came through with the song “Birds Calling.” Let us know what your favorite Fire Emoji release this week was– and what we missed, too.
