Hitmaka Songs: Best Productions, Ranked

Hitmaka, formally known as Yung Berg, has a music career that dates back to 2008. With over 15 years in the rap game, Hitmaka’s career now boasts over 75 million records sold. From Rap heavyweights to Pop and R&B superstars, Hitmaka’s production credits are full of hits. Combining familiar samples with updated flare, as well as hard-hitting 808s and cool synths, has made the megaproducer’s signature style one that keeps you moving. Here are five best-selling, hardest-hitting Hitmaka songs.

5. “Back Home” – Trey Songz feat. Summer Walker (2020)

The first single from the Trey Songz album of the same name, “Back Home,” set the tone for it. The song made it to No. 1 on the Adult R&B Songs chart. This was Trey Songz’s third No. 1 record on the chart and the first for newcomer Summer Walker. The instrumental for “Back Home” showcases the main attractions of Hitmaka’s catchy signature style. The use of Rose Royce’s “I’m Going Down” was reminiscent of Cameron’s “Oh Boy.”

His modern uniqueness and familiarity with the sample give this song a groovy yet laid-back vibe. The hard-hitting drums combine perfectly with the mellow tone of the sample, meshing with the hypnotic vocals of Trey Songz and Summer Walker. One of the bigger R&B hits of 2020, this song shows off the producer’s versatility.

4. “Dangerous” – Meek Mill feat. Jeremih & PnB Rock (2018)

The smash summer hit of 2018 made waves on the radio and charts, marking a big year for Meek Mill. “Dangerous,” which features Jeremih and the late PnB Rock, is an RIAA-certified platinum-selling record. This Hitmaka song peaked at No. 18 on the US Billboard Hot R&B/ Hip Hop Songs chart.

Sampling Jodeci’s “Come and Talk To Me,” the instrumental’s meshes well with Meek Mill’s toned-down flow. A far cry from Meek’s other high-energy singles, the subtle 808s complement the change of pace in the song’s slow tempo. The steady rate of the drums keeps a strong balance of bounce and sexiness on the R&B-influenced rap hit.

3. “Bounce Back” – Big Sean (2017)

One of Big Sean’s biggest singles to date, “Bounce Back,” eventually became a certified 6x platinum-selling record. The song is also one of many Hitmaka songs to receive a Grammy nomination. “Bounce Back” received a nomination for Best Rap Performance at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards. It peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Co-produced with Metro Boomin and Smash David, the “Bounce Back” instrumental is full of swagger. The low-toned synths and chorus combined with the heavy drums make this Hitmaka song one that keeps your head nodding for the entire play-through.

2. “John” – Lil Wayne feat. Rick Ross (2011)

Hitmaka’s first hit record as a co-producer, “John, ” became one of his biggest hits. The second official single from Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV, “John” peaked at No. 22 on the Billboard Hot 100. A product of the mixtape era, the instrumental also saw freestyles from Ace Hood, Jim Jones, and more.

Co-produced alongside Polo Da Don, Ayo The Producer, and others, Hitmaka combined his skills with veterans of the production game. Though still technically billed as Yung Berg in those days, this song was the beginning of a long and successful production career. The certified 2x platinum-selling record is one of many hits from Hitmaka’s production catalog.

1.”Rule The World” – 2 Chainz feat. Ariana Grande (2019)

This hit single from Rap or Go To The League was a definite highlight of 2 Chainz’s album. A big part of the gold-selling record’s success is the captivating catchy instrumental by Hitmaka. Sampling “Why Don’t We Fall in Love” by Amerie, the beat captures the same vibe as Hitmaka’s other R&B productions. The already smooth beat, updated with sparkly pianos and synths, creates a smooth and mellow sound that is perfect for Ariana Grande’s soft vocals.

Certified gold by the RIAA, the track peaked at No. 37 on the US Billboard Hot R&B/ Hip Hop Songs. While Hitmaka has higher selling and charting records to his credit, this song was a sleeper hit. The track caught the fanbases of 2 Chainz and Ariana Grande off guard. Fans were pleased with a hot collab and the instrumental that does it justice.

Frank Ocean’s Complicated Relationship With His Fanbase

Frank Ocean has unintentionally had the internet in a chokehold over the past week. Rumors swirled about Ocean releasing a new album along with his headlining performance at Coachella 2023. Now that the dust has settled, most of Ocean’s fanbase has been left disappointed by the result. The overarching sentiment seems to be that the singer doesn’t care about his fans. A user on Twitter stated, “Started the set late, didn’t let them live stream it, now ending the set early … Frank Ocean you will rue the day.”

Headlining Coachella on Sunday night, fans were bemused to find out that the Coachella livestream wouldn’t include Ocean’s performance. We don’t yet have a concrete reason why it wasn’t shared. Was it per the request of Ocean? Did Coachella not want their main act to be shown off to the world? A day after the event, the music fanbase is still baffled by the hour-long performance.

Frank Ocean’s Coachella Performance Was A Mixed Bag

Frank Ocean’s Coachella performance was a mixed bag at best. After months of preparation by the performance event staff, he asked them to “destroy” the laid-out stage moments before he went on. This contributed to Ocean showing up to the performance one hour late. Considering the hundreds of dollars fans spent to see him, it wasn’t the greatest look. At the show’s end, Ocean claimed to his fanbase that he was being forced off stage due to “curfew.” However, the plan was always for the show to end at midnight.

Ocean performed reworked versions of songs such as “Novacane,” “White Ferrari,” and “Bad Religion.” Of course, he also performed some of his hallmark tracks off of Blonde and Endless. “Nights” saw him jumping around the stage, while “At Your Best (You Are Love)” reminded fans of his innate talent as an emotive vocalist. This was especially notable on “Godspeed.” In addition, he implemented an impromptu DJ set in the middle of his performance. It was the disorganization of the show rather than Frank Ocean’s performance which hurt the Coachella 2023 headliner.

Frank Ocean Hinted At A New Album

There was hope from fans that he would use the platform to announce a new album. While this wasn’t the case, Frank Ocean did confirm that new music is on the way at Coachella. He stated, “I want to talk about why we’re here because it’s not because of a new album – not that there’s not a new album.” About the new project, he later stated, “But it’s not right now.” It wasn’t the grandiose release of new music that fans hoped for. However, Ocean gave fans just enough to chew on for the near future.

Amid mixed reviews of his Coachella performance and a continuing hiatus from music, the complicated dynamic between Frank Ocean’s fanbase and himself has continued. The tension began all the way back in 2016. Fans were disappointed at Ocean for not releasing Boys Don’t Cry (which later morphed into Endless) sooner. However, Ocean’s reasons for postponing the record were later revealed. He infamously used the project to get out of his deal with Def Jam Recordings.

Ryan Breaux Inspired His Performance

During Coachella 2023, Frank Ocean revealed to his fanbase that his reasonings for headlining the show were deeply personal. His late younger brother, Ryan Breaux, would force Frank Ocean to go to Coachella with him when they were younger. He stated, “My brother and I came to this festival a lot. I know he would’ve been excited to be here with all of us.” Unfortunately, his younger brother’s tragic passing is another reason for the discourse between himself and his fans. After the news of the accident came out, droves of fans claimed that the emotional experience from his brother’s passing would translate to better music. Along with the pandemic, Breaux’s death reportedly postponed any plans Ocean had for new music.

In an interview with GQ in 2019, Ocean referenced the constant microscope that his fanbase has on him. He stated “As a writer, as a creator, I’m giving you my experiences. But just take what I give you. You ain’t got to pry beyond that. I’m giving you what I feel like you can feel.” As social media has become a huge part of our society, Ocean has unsubscribed from the notion that fans constantly need to be in the know-how.

Ocean Is Purposefully Disconnected

Lastly, Frank Ocean spearheaded the release of the Homer fashion brand last year. Largely releasing luxurious products, he infamously released a $27,000 penis ring in August of 2022. While there’s nothing wrong with getting into the fashion fields, it seemed like a slap in the face to his fans. About this, iconic music reviewer Anthony Fantano stated, “Frank Ocean did an amazing job at gaming the system. Now that he’s established, he’s pitching us the same garbage snake oil that anybody else in a position of capitalistic influence would.”

There’s also the moral question of, does Frank Ocean owe his fanbase anything. With some fans reacting unemotionally to his brother’s passing, this may have further solidified his lack of interest in engaging. However, it seems Ocean’s naturally shy personality doesn’t blend well with the microscopic nature of the internet era. The Louisiana-born creative will continue to do what we wants, whether fans like it or not. Frank Ocean made that very clear with his performance during the first week at Coachella.

Joint Hip-Hop Albums: The Best, Ranked

Joint hip-hop albums are much more common than they are in other genres. For example, rapper Future has done quite a few collaborative projects. Hip-hop is a collaborative genre, so these records aren’t uncommon. Arguably, joint albums have often superseded an artist standing alone. Here, we’re looking at some of rap’s best collisions in the studio.

7. Super Slimey – Future & Young Thug (2017)

Super Slimey showcases two of the most influential trap artists of all time. Future and Young Thug have both inspired later generations of rappers and, before doing this project, already cemented themselves as some of the all-time greats. Their joint work wasn’t a groundbreaking record, nor was it either of their best work. Nevertheless, seeing (or hearing) these two artists, who have produced so many iconic songs together, put out a full-length project was excellent.

6. Drip HarderLil Baby & Gunna (2018)

Lil Baby and Gunna were a match made in heaven, and that shows on Drip Harder. The collaborative project has these two arguably in their best shape. Neither has produced a solo album quite as good as this one. Perhaps they’re better together than they are apart. There are a lot of excellent tracks on this, such as “Belly,” “Never Recover,” “Drip Too Hard,” and “Business is Business.”

5. What A Time To Be Alive – Future & Drake (2015)

What A Time To Be Alive features two of the most iconic rappers from this age. Many consider Drake the greatest rapper working right now, and there’s no way to tell the story of hip-hop without including a heavy dose of Future. These artists have linked up for many great songs, but their joint album was a true work of art. Even eight years later, the project still stands up in their vast discographies. It’s a short album with only 11 tracks. However, what they sacrificed in length, they more than made up for with quality. There’s hardly a skip on the entire project.

4. Kids See Ghosts – Kanye West & Kid Cudi (2018)

In 2018, it was a big year for joint hip-hop albums. Several other entries on this list were put out that year, but the best and most interesting one was Kanye West (now known simply as Ye) and Kid Cudi’s Kids See Ghosts. This project or a sequel couldn’t happen today due to the conflict between the artists and the never-ending controversy with Ye. However, it stands as one of the most unique collaborations in hip-hop history.

It’s full of excellent songs despite only featuring seven tracks. They’re all unique and find a way to stand out. While both of these artists have legendary discographies, and it’s easy to forget they worked together, this album is still worth revisiting today. It’s not either of their best works, but it is each artist’s most distinctive.

3. Watch the Throne – Kanye West & Jay-Z (2011)

Watch the Throne is one of the earlier examples of a joint album between hip-hop artists. While they existed much earlier than 2011, Jay-Z and Kanye West’s crossover helped set the standard and bring collaborative records into the mainstream. While it’s not Jay-Z’s album of the same name, it is the “blueprint” for how joint hip-hop albums should work. These two worked in perfect tandem and produced iconic songs. Hip-hop would not be the same today if Jay and Ye didn’t decide to come together for one of the best albums of the 21st century. For that alone, it’s one of the best joint hip-hop albums ever.

2. Pluto x Baby Pluto– Future & Lil Uzi Vert (2020)

Understandably, 2020 was a pretty down year for music and the arts. However, it produced some incredible albums like folklore from Taylor Swift and The Weeknd’s After Hours. It also gave music fans an incredible joint album from Future and Lil Uzi Vert. These two came together for Pluto x Baby Pluto, a seminal work for collaborations.

It’s longer than many projects on this list, but it doesn’t suffer for it. All 16 tracks fare well, with songs like “Off Dat,” “That’s It,” “Plastic,” and “Bought A Bad B****” standing out. What’s even better is that the deluxe version adds a few more songs and two great collaborative tracks (“Patek” and “Over Your Head”) released long before this record.

1. Without Warning – 21 Savage, Offset & Metro Boomin’ (2017)

A list of the best collaborative albums in hip-hop cannot exclude 2017’s Without Warning. The surprise project released in late October is one of the best from the entire year. It features songs that people still frequently listen to today. For Offset, this is easily his best work. It could very well be 21 Savage’s, too.

Metro Boomin’ is arguably the best producer in the industry today, and he has a few albums of his own. This genuinely might be his best. The members of Migos have often had a tough time venturing into projects outside the group, but this is excellent work from Offset. 21 Savage, a frequent collaborator with Metro Boomin’, is as good as ever here, too.

The Rise of Video Game Streaming: How It’s Changing The Gaming Industry

Video game streaming has rapidly become one of the most popular forms of entertainment in recent years. With millions of people around the world tuning in to watch their favorite gamers, it has become a staple in the culture that is rapidly changing the gaming industry as we know it. In this article, we will explore the rise of video game streaming, how it is changing the gaming industry, and what the future of video game streaming might look like.

What Is Video Game Streaming?

Video game streaming is the act of broadcasting oneself playing a video game to an audience in real time. Streamers use Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook Gaming to showcase their gameplay to millions of viewers around the world. Online gaming and the growth of social media in the past decade have driven the growing popularity of online gaming.

The Impact Of Video Game Streaming On The Gaming Industry

The rise of video game streaming has had a profound impact on the gaming industry. One of the most significant changes has been the way that developers market and sell games. In the past, gamers would typically buy games based on reviews, word-of-mouth recommendations, and marketing materials such as trailers and advertisements. Today, however, many gamers are discovering games through video game streaming. Watching someone else play provides a much better idea of the gameplay, more so than any trailer or advertisement. In that sense, streaming benefited the rise of indie games. The developers behind indie games typically have little marketing leeway. However, streaming turned into the best option to get the word out there.

The rise of esports has also played a role in video game streaming. Esports transformed gaming into a competitive sport, in a sense, often in organized tournaments with cash prizes. The popularity of esports has led to an increase in the number of professional gamers, as well as the development of dedicated leagues and tournaments. Today, many professional gamers earn a living through a combination of prize money, sponsorships, and streaming revenue.

The Future Of Video Game Streaming

Visitors play a virtual reality video game, wearing a VR headset while holding mock rifles, during the opening day of the “Paris Games Week” video-game fair, after the cancellation of two editions due to the pandemic, in Paris on November 2, 2022. – The largest French video game fair, Paris Games Week, is open on November 2 to 6. If video games remain the preferred digital leisure activity of young people, with 95% of 10-17 year olds playing them, the practice concerns more than 37 million French people, 53% even declaring that they play them “at least once a week”, according to the Syndicat des editeurs de logiciels de loisirs (Leisure software editors union)(Sell). So, what does the future of video game streaming look like? There are several trends that are likely to shape the future of this industry. One trend is the continued growth of mobile gaming. More people are playing games on their phones as they’re not only accessible but also, a great way to kill time. Much like Twitch, mobile-specific streaming platforms, such as Omlet Arcade and Loco, allow gamers to stream their mobile gameplay to a global audience.

The rise of virtual reality (VR) gaming is another trend to look out for. VR gaming allows players to immerse themselves in a virtual world in what feels like the next step in the evolution of gaming. Streaming could play a significant role in the growth of VR gaming, especially as gamers showcase their gameplay to a wider audience.

New Revenue Streams

Streaming has opened up new revenue streams for the gaming industry. Game sales are still a major source of income. However, the average gamer is now turning to platforms like Twitch and YouTube to explore their favorite video games. As a result, game developers and publishers are now more interested in collaborating with popular streamers to promote their games. This has led to a new type of partnership between streamers and game companies. Some streamers receive early access to games or exclusive in-game items in exchange for promotional purposes.

Increased Competition

Streamers are now able to build their own communities and followings, which has given them more power and influence in the industry. However, streamers often become authoritative voices. Not due to their knowledge, necessarily but because they are the most watched. This has led to a shift in the balance of power, especially since streamers sometimes have more influence over game sales than traditional advertising methods.

Changes In The Video Game Industry

Developers now tend to design games with streaming in mind. Features like spectator modes and easy-to-use streaming tools have grown in prominence. Even software and hardware for streaming are heavily on the rise. Developers are also paying more attention to how their games will look and play on stream. There’s no doubt that this can have a big impact on how popular a game becomes.

Video Game Marketing

While traditional marketing methods like television ads and billboards are still important, there’s a major focus on social media and streaming platforms. New ventures and initiatives have launched as gaming companies collaborate with popular streamers to introduce their product to a wider audience.

User-generated content is also impacting the industry in a major way. Popular streamers and influencers are gaining significant traction through streaming and YouTube gaming channels which allow them to create and share their own gameplay videos and content. It’s not uncommon for companies to encourage their customers to use hashtag-driven gameplay clips on social media, which, in turn, creates a sense of community among fans. Ultimately, this helps build loyal following and generate organic buzz.

Why Is Understanding The Video Game Industry So Important?

Gamers take part in the “Z Event”, a 54-hour charity video game marathon of live gaming with 55 streamers in Montpellier on September 9, 2022. – Harnessed helmets and reserves of energy drinks to last two days and three nights, 55 French stars, from eSports or Twitch streamers, have launched the “Z Event” marathon in Montpellier, to raise funds for the benefit of 4 associations for the protection of the environment. As streaming continues to grow in popularity, it’s clear that it will continue to shape the industry. From new revenue streams to changes in game design, streaming is changing the way we think about gaming. While it’s impossible to predict where this trend will take us, one thing is clear: video game streaming is here to stay.

The Impact of Social Media on Celebrity Culture

Social media has, for better or worse, changed the way we consume products and communicate. It’s even changed the way we view products and consumerism. Social media, celebrities, and the general marketing population have evolved over the last 20 years. It has created an entirely new environment worth investigating.

With the rise of platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter, celebrities and influencers have more power to interact with their fans. In ways previously unimagined, the average internet star can have more influence than companies. How has this happened? Why is it happening? And what do the implications of celebrities on the internet have on marketing and consumption for the future? We’ll explore the impact social media has on celebrity culture. Further, we’ll also help you examine how it has transformed the entertainment industry as we know it.

The Rise Of The Influencer

If you don’t already understand the term, allow us to serve as an introduction. What is an influencer? An influencer is much like a celebrity but on a slightly smaller and more niche scale. Instead of being a famous person through conventional media means, an influencer typically gains their social status online. Social media has given rise to a new breed of celebrity: the influencer. These individuals have amassed a large following on platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok. Typically, they primarily promote brands or products. Influencers come from all walks of life, from fitness enthusiasts to fashion bloggers. The rise of the influencer has had a significant impact on traditional celebrity culture. Historically, celebrities were primarily actors, musicians, and athletes who had achieved fame through their talents and achievements. Today, however, many celebrities are famous simply for being famous.

Influencers have made marketing more flexible for companies but also give opportunities to the current generation. Now everyone can earn just a little more than 15 minutes of fame. Becoming an influencer is a honey-coated pipe dream, something everyone can try, but only a few with success. While this has led to criticism that influencers are shallow and lacking in substance, there is no denying that they have changed how we think about fame and celebrity.

The Power Of Social Media

Social media has given celebrities more power than ever before. With a single tweet or Instagram post, a celebrity can reach millions and shape public opinion. This has given rise to a new type of celebrity activism, with many famous individuals using their platforms to advocate for social and political causes. For example, after the death of George Floyd in 2020, many celebrities took to social media to express their support for the Black Lives Matter movement.

This had a significant impact on public discourse and helped to raise awareness of the issue. However, the power of social media has also had negative consequences. Many celebrities have been accused of using their platforms to spread misinformation or promote harmful products and ideas. This has led to calls for greater regulation of social media and a push for celebrities to be more responsible in using these platforms.

The Pressure To Be Perfect

Social media has also created new pressure on celebrities to maintain a perfect image. With millions of people following their every move, celebrities are constantly scrutinized and expected to look and behave a certain way. This has led to increased cosmetic surgery and other beauty treatments as celebrities strive to maintain their youthful appearance. It has also led to a rise in body shaming and criticism, with many celebrities needing to conform to unrealistic beauty standards. The pressure to maintain a perfect image has also significantly impacted mental health. Celebrities have spoken out about the negative impact that social media has had on their mental well-being, with some even taking breaks to prioritize their mental health.

The Rise Of Cancel Culture

Kanye West’s Twitter account displayed on a phone screen is seen in this illustration photo taken in Krakow, Poland on December 2, 2022. (Photo by Jakub Porzycki/NurPhoto via Getty Images)

Social media has also created a new phenomenon known as “cancel culture.” This is when a celebrity is called out on social media for something they have said or done and is subsequently “canceled” by fans and followers. Cancel culture has become increasingly prevalent, with many celebrities falling victim to its wrath. While some argue that a cancel culture is essential for holding celebrities accountable, others believe it has gone too far and is being used to silence opposing viewpoints.

Social media has had a profound impact on the entertainment industry as a whole. It has created new opportunities for aspiring artists to gain exposure and has given rise to new types of content, such as influencer marketing and sponsored posts. However, it has also disrupted traditional distribution models and led to a decline in the profitability of traditional media outlets such as newspapers and magazines.

The Future Of Celebrity Culture

As social media continues to evolve, its impact on celebrity culture will likely only increase. We may see the rise of new types of influencers and forms of content and entertainment. There may also be a push for greater regulation of social media and a renewed focus on the responsible use of these platforms. One thing is sure: social media has forever changed how we think about fame and celebrity. Whether this change is for the better or the worse is up for debate, but there is no denying that it has had a profound impact on our culture and society.

The Best Colorways Of Kevin Durant’s KD 15 Shoes: “Aunt Pearl,” “What The” & More, Ranked

The KD 15 is one of the most popular Kevin Durant shoes. A superstar since his rookie days with the Seattle Supersonics, his signature shoe, the KD, has shared the same popularity among fans and sneakerheads alike. All of the Kevin Durant shoes, from the KD 1 to the KD 15, continue to be one of Nike’s most popular signature lines.

Throughout the years, many sneakers from Durant’s signature line have become fan favorites. Bright colors, unique concepts, dope collabs, and other bold choices have kept each release as exciting as the next. The Nike KD 15 kept this tradition alive, with many releases catching the eyes of fans and easily being some of the most hyped shoes of the season.

With the long-awaited KD 16 gaining hype for its May 2023 release, we’ve seen the complete cycle of the KD 15’s.  One of the most critically acclaimed Kevin Durant shoes, the Nike KD 15 was a fan favorite amongst both hoopers and sneakerheads alike in 2022.

6. KD 15 “Pink Royal”

The “Pink Royal” keeps the tradition of sporting vibrant colors. Released towards the end of 2022, fans loved this iteration of the KD 15, even if it didn’t receive as much attention as other popular colorways. This colorway of Kevin Durant’s signature shoes combines pink, light blue, royal blue, and beige. The royal blue on the tongue logo matches the signature Nike Swoosh of the same color. The tan-colored midsole meshes nicely with pink, tan, and peach outsole rubber. The royal blue on the tongue logo matches the signature Nike Swoosh of the same color. Though not as flashy or bright as other colorways, the “Pink Royal” colorway is still a hot choice among fans.

5. KD 15 “Beginnings”

Slightly toned down compared to other flashy colorways, the KD 15 Beginnings still has enough flare to stand out! The shoe is in part inspired by the Nike Zoom Jet Flight from 2001. This colorway includes a heel crafted with 3D-printed technology, specifically tailored for Durant’s liking. Fans got their first look at this sneaker on the feet of Durant during Game 1 of the Nets-Celtics playoffs.

The subtlety in the design of the Kevin Durant shoes stands out just as much as the main features. The border blue laces, red heel tabs, and yellow checks stand out on the nearly all-black colorway. The pink logo matches perfectly with the multi-colored graphic printed on the tongue. The bright red signature heel tab has “EASY” etched. On the bottom of the heel is the number 7 in the same color as the heel tabs. The KD 15 “Beginnings” dropped on June 25, 2022, and was one of the most popular colorways among fans of the Kevin Durant shoes.

4. KD 15 “Aimbot”

One of the more colorful colorways of the KD 15, the Aimbot was one of the bolder sneakers of the season. The bold neon green color is combined with contrasting hits of blue, red, fuchsia, and purple. These colors come together along with splashes on the signature Swoosh, giving the sneaker even more character. The pink KD emblem on the sneaker’s tongue matches the tones of the Swoosh, as well as the colors at the bottom. Released towards the end of the season, these kicks garnered as much attention as Kevin Durant’s electrifying 2021-22 NBA season.

3. KD 15 “What The”

The KD 15 is the fourth entry shoe from Durant’s signature line of shoes to be a part of Nike’s iconic “What The” series. Inspired by the original SB Dunk Low “What The,” this colorful sneaker also references other popular KD colorways. The mismatched colorway results in an eye-popping ensemble that celebrates the legacy of past KD releases.

The left shoe takes inspiration from the “Aunt Pearl”, “Beginnings”, and “Brooklyn Courts” colorways. The right shoe nods to the “Aunt Pearl” and “Aimbot” colorways. Other details are reminiscent of past collaborations between producer 9th Wonder and Nike. Overall, this color release references 10 different colorways of past Kevin Durant shoes.

2. KD 15 “B.A.D.”

Featuring an entirely purple colorway, the KD 15 “B.A.D” is a nod to Kevin Durant’s inner circle. The official colorway of the tonal-shaded sneaker is Space Purple, Oxygen Purple, and Purple Cosmos. He embroidered the names of his close friends inside the tongue of the shoes and the insoles, as well. On the outside of the branded velvet tongue is the signature KD logo, along with rose embroidery. The mesh upper is paired with plastic lace cage detailing and includes a dark purple Swoosh logo across the sides. All of these details and features are wrapped up nicely by the white foam midsole paired with a semi-translucent rubber outsole.

1. KD 15 “Aunt Pearl”

This colorway of the KD 15 gains its namesake from and pays tribute to Kevin Durant’s Aunt Pearl, who was an avid supporter of his basketball beginnings. The multiple shades of pink on the sneakers are an homage to his beloved family member, who passed away from cancer in 2000. Not only was the “Aunt Pearl” a popular release among fans but also originated from a good cause.

The “Aunt Pearl” was a product of a collaboration between Kevin Durant and the Kay Yow Cancer Fund to help raise awareness for the perils of breast cancer. The sneaker has other unique and flashy details. The exclusive colorway’s floral print is featured throughout the upper. The upper is a combination of mesh and suede. The tongues are made of crushed velvet, and also marked with floral print and the signature KD patches. Lastly, the right pull tab of the sneaker has “Aunt Pearl” inscribed on the right pull tab.

Ja Morant Sneakers: Best Nike Ja 1 Colorways

Ja Morant is one of the biggest rising stars in the NBA. Blazing with his flashy style on the court, Ja Morant has garnered a loyal fan base despite recent controversies. Since their first announcement, fans have been excited for Nike to drop their line of Ja Morant sneakers. With the Ja 1, Morant joins other NBA elites with their own signature Nike line, like Kevin Durant.

Reminiscent of Kyrie Irving’s line, the first line of Ja Morant sneakers features an entirely synthetic upper. The true-to-size fits, and other performance perks of the Ja 1, make the sneaker popular amongst hoopers and sneakerheads alike. Like other Nike signature shoes, the Ja 1 benefits from yearlong drops with awesome colorways. Though plenty of new colorways will be released later this year, fans are buzzing about the current roster. Here are the best-announced colorways of the new Ja Morant sneaker from Nike, the Ja 1!

Ja 1 “Light Smoke Grey”

The calm approach of this modest colorway is still appreciated by fans of the newly released Ja Morant sneakers. The white, gray, and black colorway accents the vibrant hits of yellow on the tongue and heel branding. The usual graphics seen in other colorways are absent, replaced by the mismatched color arrangement on the sneaker. This is where the white mesh base shoe gets its flare. Though not as bold as the “Mis-Match” Ja 1 colorway, the “Light Smoke Grey” still has plenty of personality.

The right sneaker sports gray on the swooshes and midfoot panel, while the swooshes on the left sneaker are black. The color scheme of the left sneaker is white to light grey at the midsole. On the right sneaker, the color scheme goes from off-white at the midsole to white.

Though toned down compared to other colorways, the “Light Smoke Grey” Ja 1 is still a uniquely new option among the Ja Morant sneakers.  With its fresh white mesh base and sharp mismatched color scheme, fans are excited to get their hands on this colorway in time for the Spring.

Ja 1 “Scratch”

The first colorway of the Ja Morant sneaker to officially drop , the “Scratch” colorway was a good first impression for the Ja 1. This colorway matches the Memphis Grizzlies’ alternate uniforms. Additionally, the team wore this colorway back when they were located in Vancouver. The Ja Morant sneaker has a turquoise blue mesh with black and dark red accents throughout the leather upper. The defining feature of this colorway is the Grizzlies claw marks on the front, swooshes, and midsole. Other details include Morant’s logo on the tongues and the “12” branding on the heels.

Ja 1 “MisMatch”

This colorway borrows its color scheme from the Ja 1 “Game Royal University Red.” The left shoe sports a Game Royal/ Black, University Red and Photo blue color scheme, which is reversed on the right shoe. Black accents and red speckling on the bottoms bring home the fresh look of the mismatched pair. The colorway contains the Ja 1’s usual flashy graphics, with the familiar “12” donning the heel and tongue. It is a more “plain” and solid colorway, and the “Mismatch” still has enough character to keep sneakerheads excited.

Ja 1 “Midnight”

This colorway makes it easy to bet on black! The Anthracite/Metallic Silver-Cobalt Bliss color scheme looks great on the all-black mesh and leather upper. In fact, this colorway also has other eye-catching features apart from its sleek black color scheme. The “12AM” lace dubrae and Nike Ja hangtag give the sneaker extra swagger. Diamond-like stones on the wrap-around swooshes and “IT’S 12AM SOMEWHERE” written on the heel are incredible details of the sneaker. The vivid details, along with the subtle color scheme, makes the “Midnight” a very slept-on colorway from the line of Ja Morant sneakers.

Ja 1 “Day One”

One of the latest released colorways, this Ja Morant sneaker was unveiled first despite the late release. Fans of Ja Morant have been hyped for this release since they were revealed on Christmas Day 2022. This Spring release of the Ja Morant sneaker has a boldly vibrant color scheme of Cobalt Bliss, Citron Tint, Hot Punch, Medium Soft Pink, and Diffused Blue. The gradient wrap-around Swoosh and mismatched tongue logos also give the shoes extra flare.

The vibrant colorway also has other subtle details to excite the sneakerheads. The Ja 1’s trademark “12AM” text covers the shoe’s heel, giving it character. A text dedication to his beloved friends, family, neighborhood, and community is printed on the bottom. All these features make the Ja 1 Day One among fans’ top-coveted Ja Morant colorways.

10 Essentials For Anyone Going To Coachella 2023

The first weekend of Coachella 2023 may be over, but there is still one more amazing weekend left. From Friday, April 21st to Sunday, April 23rd, festival-goers can still look forward to another exciting music, art, and culture weekend. The annual music and arts festival in Indio, California features a diverse lineup of artists across multiple genres.

Bad Bunny, Blackpink, and Frank Ocean headlined this year’s festival. If you plan to attend weekend two of Coachella, packing the right gear will help guarantee a safe and comfortable experience. From sun protection to comfortable sleep arrangements, here are ten essentials you shouldn’t leave home without.

10. High SPF Sunscreen

The hot and arid climate of the California desert means that festival-goers are exposed to intense sunlight, which can lead to painful sunburns and skin damage. That’s why it’s crucial to pack sunscreen with a high SPF rating and reapply it regularly throughout the day. In addition to sunscreen, attendees should also wear protective clothing such as hats, sunglasses, and long-sleeved shirts to shield themselves from the sun’s harmful rays.

9. An Easy to Assemble Tent

After a long day of music, art, and partying at Coachella 2023, having a comfortable and private resting place is essential to recharge for the next day. Pack a warm sleeping bag and a comfortable pad to ensure a good night’s rest. While hotels and other accommodations are available in the area, camping is a popular option for festival-goers who want to be closer to the action and save money. Coachella has car and tent camping sites adjacent to the festival grounds.

8. Phone Strap and Portable Charger

In today’s digital age, phones have become an indispensable part of our lives, even more so when attending. From capturing memories to staying up to date with potential line-up changes, having a fully charged phone is crucial for a smooth and fun experience. That’s why it’s essential to pack a phone strap to prevent it from getting lost or stolen. Moreover, with so many photo-worthy moments, a portable charger can be a lifesaver, especially since there are limited charging stations on the festival grounds.

7. A Water Bottle Carrier

Staying hydrated is paramount when attending any festival this summer. It’s so important to drink plenty of water to avoid the risk of dehydration. While water is available for purchase at the festival grounds, having a water bottle carrier keeps your hands free for dancing, enjoying your favorite drinks, and much more. Additionally, bringing a reusable water bottle helps you save money and reduces the amount of plastic waste generated at the festival. Coachella has water bottle-filling stations on the festival grounds.

6. Clipon Hand Sanitizer

Hand hygiene is still a top priority in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s especially the case when attending a huge music festival like Coachella 2023. With thousands of people around you, picking up germs is easy, which can quickly ruin your experience. Packing hand sanitizer in your bag and using it frequently is essential. Clip-on hand sanitizers are a great option as they are easy to carry and can be attached to your bag, keychain, or clothing for quick access.

5. Money, Bank Card, and Photo ID

When attending the festival, it’s vital to have a secure and accessible form of payment, such as cash or a bank card. This year, Coachella went cashless — a trend that began during the pandemic. Bringing a bank card, or more preferably, a credit card, guarantees you can access your funds throughout the festival. Additionally, the festival requires attendees to present a government-issued ID to obtain a wristband to purchase drinks. Be sure to have your identification with you at all times. Also, security becomes more stringent each year, and having proper identification is essential to avoid any issues or delays when entering the festival grounds.

4. Fun Sunglasses

In addition to looking stylish, sunglasses are fundamental for protecting your eyes from the harsh desert sun and dust. The winds can pick up at night, creating a sandstorm effect that can be uncomfortable and irritating to the eyes. Clear or colored lenses can keep the dust out while also making a fabulous fashion statement at Coachella. Opt for sunglasses that won’t slip off during your dance moves. And remember to pack a few different looks to match your outfits.

3. The Perfect Bag

It’s critical to consider the security of your belongings while at the festival. A crossbody purse or backpack with zipper closures and secure compartments can help prevent theft and keep your valuables safe. Durable materials, like leather or waterproof nylon, are perfect to protect your belongings from weather conditions. Per Coachella’s website, they only allowed medium-sized backpacks that are no bigger than 18″x13″x8.5″ when packed. This year, they’ll fit your backpack into a box to ensure that it’s of size, similar to how carry-on luggage is measured at airports.

2. Earplugs and an Eye Mask

Along with earplugs, an eye mask is a must-have for the festival. Getting a good night’s sleep can be difficult with all the excitement and activities. And with the sun rising early in the desert, you might wake up earlier than you’d like. An eye mask can block out light and create a better sleeping environment. It can also come in handy for mid-day naps or resting in between sets. Packing earplugs for when you want to tune out and sleep is great since the festival can be noisy and chaotic, even during nighttime.

1. Your Ticket

And finally, don’t forget to pack your ticket for Coachella 2023. You could try sweet-talking your way into the festival with your charming personality, but your dazzling smile probably won’t sway the security guards. So, do yourself a favor and put that ticket at the very top of your packing list.

The Best Girl Groups Of The 90s

Plenty of music fans are huge admirers of musicians in the 1990s. This is especially true for girl groups, as more than enough of them were clamoring to be the best on the charts. In addition, there was diversity among the popular girl groups of the time. Some were strictly R&B, while others combined their music with a more mainstream pop sound. Either way, these iconic groups from the ’90s have songs we still sing along to today.

Luckily, many of the best girl groups from the ’90s are still around today. Some are still touring and even appearing on reality TV, while others may not be together. However, social media allows fans to keep up with their favorite members. Of course, most groups don’t last forever. Thankfully, we have their catalogs to revisit anytime we want. Here are four groups of the 1990s that were set apart from their contemporaries.

TLC

By and large, TLC is considered one of the best girl groups of the 1990s. Made up of T-Boz, Chilli, and Left Eye, the group released its first album in 1992. Delivered by La Face Records, Oooooooh… on the TLC Tip spawned the hit singles “What About Your Friends” and “Ain’t 2 Proud 2 Beg.” It became certified quadruple platinum by the RIAA after selling four million copies by 1996. The group followed up its debut album with 1994’s CrazySexyCool, which contained the hit “Waterfalls” and became their biggest-selling LP.

Despite the success, TLC was bound to continue to climb the charts but also experience personal and professional turmoil. Their second biggest album, Fanmail, came out in 1999. It contained the career-defining “No Scrubs,” which Kandi Burruss wrote. To date, the album has sold over 10 million copies worldwide. Unfortunately, Left Eye passed away on April 25, 2002, due to a vehicle accident in Honduras. Since then, TLC has released two albums, 3D in 2002, which Left Eye was a part of, and a self-titled album in 2017. Chilli and T-Boz still perform as TLC today.

Xscape

Xscape is easily one of the best ’90s girl groups. Made up of Tiny, Kandi, Tamika, and LaTocha, Xscape released its first album, Hummin’ Comin’ At ‘Cha, in 1993 on Columbia Records. The album featured the hits “Just Kickin’ It” and “Understanding.” Xscape differed from the other girl groups of the ’90s because they had a more grounded aesthetic. Additionally, all four group members sang lead, which was not usually the case. They followed up the album two years later with Off The Hook. It featured the hit “Who Can I Run To.”

Today, Xscape is still an active group. Not only does the group still tour, but they are heavily involved with reality television. They recently did a show on Bravo called Queens of R&B with fellow 90s girl group SWV. However, the group has also experienced quite a bit of drama recently, leading to LaTocha’s release of a solo gospel album and not being part of the group. It should be noted that she still considers herself a member of Xscape. The other three members have discussed making new music in the near future.

SWV

You can’t discuss girl groups from the 90s without talking about SWV. The group’s first album, It’s About Time, was released by RCA Records in 1992. It featured the hits “Right Here/Human Nature” and “Weak.” SWV, comprised of Coko, Tamara, and Lelee, later revealed that Michael Jackson gave them clearance to sample him on “Right Here.” This shows his respect for their artistry early in their career.

To date, SWV released six albums, including a Christmas LP in 1997. It should be noted that the group didn’t release its proper second album until 1996 with New Beginning. This famous ’90s girl group has sold over 25 million units worldwide, with 11 million being album sales. Currently, SWV has over 3 million monthly listeners on Spotify. As mentioned, SWV is no stranger to reality TV, and they still tour today. Further, they released new albums in 2012 and 2016.

Destiny’s Child

You’d be hard-pressed to find anyone saying Destiny’s Child isn’t among the best girl groups from the ’90s. Though the group shifted members, the lasting members were Beyoncé, Kelly, and Michelle. To date, Destiny’s Child has sold over 60 million units worldwide. Some of the group’s biggest singles are “Bills, Bills, Bills,” “Survivor,” “Say My Name,” and “Independent Women, Pt. 1.”

After Destiny’s Child went on hiatus, they pursued successful solo careers. Kelly Rowland released her first album in 2002 with Simply Deep. Though not a huge seller, it featured the hit “Dilemma” with Nelly. Then, Beyoncé released her first solo album in 2003 with Dangerously in Love. She has become one of the most influential artists of all time. Michelle has succeeded in gospel, pop, and acting. In addition, the ladies performed together at the Super Bowl Halftime show in 2013.

SZA & Doja Cat’s “Kill Bill (Remix)”: Review

SZA has recruited Doja Cat for a remix of her song “Kill Bill.” The original song comes from SZA’s latest album SOS which was a big release for the Top Dawg Entertainment songstress. After months of anticipation, teases, mixed messages, and more, it was released on December 9, 2022. SZA promoted the album with a tour and has been taking to stages from coast to coast.

“Kill Bill” was one of the biggest songs on the album, with the name generating buzz before people even heard the song. The title was inspired by Quentin Tarantino’s famed franchise of the same name. Fans have seen SZA and Doja Cat work together before for their Grammy-winning hit “Kiss It Better,” but this song differs from that one in essentially every way.

Original “Kill Bill” Music Video Pays Homage Films

SZA and Doja Cat dropped the “Kill Bill” remix on April 14. Before this, the original song was a single from the album with an accompanying music video. It was directed by Christian Breslauer. Naturally, the visual paid homage to Tarantino’s films. SZA can be seen in a red leather suit much akin to the yellow one the character named The Bride (Uma Thurman) wore in the film. The singer also rides a red motorcycle, and again, The Bride’s was yellow in the film.

Additionally, the opening moments of the video reference one of the most popular scenes in the film. There’s even an animated portion in the clip, much like the anime in the film. These are just touches of how SZA’s team made sure to lean into Tarantino’s classic.

Doja Cat Beasts Out Bars

On the remix version of SZA’s “Kill Bill,” Doja Cat provides a rapped verse. Doja recently explained wanting to focus on rap and has been hinting at a full rap album. There have also been talks of her wanting to work with Jay Versace and 9th Wonder, which the rap world knows as high-level producers. Doja doubled down on this rap-focused career path in a series of recent tweets. Amid these tweets,  there was a retweet from Jay, validating her rap skills.

In the remix, Doja’s rap verse opens the song. Her bars tell a more detailed version of the events from SZA’s original version. Although she often incorporates singing into her music, this time, she held down rapping alone. The verse has a narrative feeling and gives the song a two-part storyline. Doja’s part is the aftermath of what SZA was speaking about. Listeners know SZA’s chorus opens with “I might kill my ex,” and by the time the song ends, she has switched to “I just killed my ex.” Unfortunately, there is no change in the production for Doja’s rapped verse. After hers ends, the song is like SZA’s original solo version.

The “Kill Bill” Remix Is A Treat For Fans

There is also a creative visualizer for SZA and Doja Cat’s “Kill Bill” remix. The visual plays on a loop, with some users believing it was the Spotify Canvas Art for the remix. However, this is not the case. The visualizer features an animated character that represents Doja Cat. She is wearing a red leather suit and carrying a mace. As she walks down a path, red windows with silhouettes are behind her. Characters referencing the Crazy 88 from Kill Bill attack her as she walks, and animated Doja fights them off with her weapon. The entire look of the visualizer resembles an old-school side-scrolling video game.

What did you think of Doja Cat’s verse on the “Kill Bill” remix? Let us know in the comments section.
