Charles Barkley Tells Hilarious Michael Jordan Olympic Story

Charles Barkley has become everyone’s favorite uncle in the NBA. The Hall of Famer has long hung up his shoes and has been the voice of the fans for a generation. However, there was a time when “Sir Charles” was one of the great competitors in the sport. So competitive that he would even go at Shaq ready to fight. But there was one competitor during Charles’ days on the court that would never let his competitive spirit fade. You may have heard of him. He’s the one everyone wanted to be like.

Michael Jordan is the game of basketball to an entire generation. If you were to debate the greatest of all time with a Mike supporter, your argument would be disregarded. However, one of the things that made Mike so special was his competitive nature. Over the years, stories have been told about just how much Jordan wants to be the best. Recently, Barkley revealed a hilarious story on how competitive Jordan can genuinely be.

Charles Barkley Recalls MJ’s Competitive Nature

Barkley remembers the day that Team USA met Puerto Rico in the 92 Olympics when Jordan played 36 holes of golf before the game. While that sounds ridiculous enough, Barkley went on to tell how Jordan wanted to guard the point guard of the Puerto Rican national team. All because Jordan read in the papers that the player said something about him. Barkley recounts that Jordan guarded the guy like the NBA championship was on the line. Listen to the clip of the story in the video above.

The legend of Jordan continues to grow even though he hasn’t played professionally in over 20 years. Barkley’s story is just another reason why many believe the Chicago star is the greatest to play the game. All athletes have a competitive nature. However, only a select few are willing to do everything it takes to sit on top of the mountain. The greatest of all debates must be stopped, as many athletes deserve praise. However, there’s never been, and they’ll never be, another Michael Jordan. For the latest news in sports, keep it right here with HNHH.

Gold Medal Figure Skater Announces Congressional Bid

Sarah Hughes took home gold in the ladies’ singles figure skating event at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. It was Hughes’ first, and only, Olympic medal prior to her 2003 retirement. However, Hughes marked the first time that an America had seen back-to-back gold medallists in the event since 1960.

After retiring, Hughes became a lawyer and earned degrees at two Ivy League schools. After doing her undergraduate studies at Yale, she headed to Penn for law school. In 2022, she began postgraduate degrees in business and education at Stanford. In a related effort, Hughes has supported Figure Skaters in Harlem for over a decade. The program provides academic tutoring for girls in Harlem. Now, she’s looking to further help the communities where she grew up.

On May 15, Hughes submitted paperwork to run as a Democrat in the Congressional race for New York’s 4th District. Hughes is originally from Great Neck, a town that sits in the neighboring 3rd District, which is currently represented by the embattled George Santos. However, the 4th District is also under Republican control. Anthony Esposito flipped the district after Democrat Kathleen Rice retired. The Democrats had held the district since 1997. Hughes is one of three Democrats who have already filed to run next year.

In an email to NBC, a representative for Hughes explained why she had chosen to run. “Born and raised on Long Island, Sarah is concerned about where we’re headed, whether it’s rising prices, public safety and gun violence, or threats to women’s health. She’s putting the pieces into place to make an announcement in the next few weeks.” According to all major political forecasters, the district is a toss-up. However, Hughes is not the only figure skater to have gone into politics. Two-time Olympic medallist Michelle Kwan currently serves as the US Ambassador to Belize.

According to a Wall Street Journal interview from 2020, Biles says the two may have different stories about how their love began. “He would say I slid into his DMs,’ Biles revealed. I saw him and I was like, Oh, he’s pretty cute, so I said hi and then I saw that he was in the Houston area, so we started chatting a little bit, and then we went to hang out a week or two later.” A simple slide into a DM sparked the fire between the new couple. However, neither one is going to admit who instigated the conversation.

A special day that has been a year in the making has finally come true for Biles and Owens. An excellent moment for Owens to enjoy before entering training camp for the Texans upcoming season. A Group Featuring John Legend And Keith Urban Sings ‘Imagine’ At The 2020 Olympics Opening Ceremony

The 2020 Summer Olympics are getting started today, and they began, as they always do, with a grandiose Opening Ceremony. This year, singers from around the world came together to sing the John Lennon classic “Imagine” (a song, by the way, that features the lyric, “Imagine there’s no countries / It isn’t hard to do”).

Participating in the pre-taped performance were Keith Urban (representing Oceania), John Legend (America), Coro Suginami (Asia), Angelique Kidjo (Africa), and Alejandro Sanz (Europe). During the performance, a fleet of drones was positioned in the sky to form an image of a globe of Earth. As CNN notes, a guide to the ceremony explains, “Imagination has the power to unite and to move us forward. By singing this much-loved song in relay, we will spread its powerful message all over the world.”

In an interview clip Urban shared, he said, “It’s one of those songs that feels like it’s just always been there. It’s sort of like a spiritual classic. It’s almost more of a hymn than a song, you know? What lyrics stand out to me? Just the ones between the beginning and the end [laughs]. It’s an amazing song! […] Even if you don’t speak English and you don’t know what’s being said in ‘Imagine,’ you can feel it. You can feel that song.”
