Coi Leray Performs A Colorful Medley Of ‘Trendsetter’ Hits On ‘The Tonight Show’

With Coi Leray’s debut album Trendsetter dropping this Friday, the New Jersey rapper stopped by The Tonight Show to show off a bit of what the album has to offer. Rather than focusing on any individual songs from the album, she chose to go with a medley of some of her hits from the past year that will appear on it, including “No More Parties,” “Twinnem,” and her new single with Nicki Minaj, “Blick Blick.”

Rocking a pair of distressed skinny jeans, a crop top, a trucker hat, and furry boots, Coi performed the songs on an airbrushed stage backed by a graffiti wall and surrounded by denim-clad dancers. She only played a snippet of “No More Parties” — understandable, considering she played the song during her previous appearance on The Tonight Show — then followed up with a chorus from “Twinnem” before going all-in on “Blick Blick.” While Nicki didn’t appear to perform her verse, Coi and her dancers ran through some choreography to allow the moment to shine.

Trendsetter will feature 20 songs, with guest appearances from Nicki, Yung Bleu, Young MA, HER, G Herbo, Lil Durk, Lil Tecca, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, and Pooh Shiesty.

Coi Leray Says Lil Durk Stopped Her From Quitting Music: ‘This Man Right Here Believed In Me’

Over the last year, Coi Leray has become one of music’s newest stars. The New Jersey rapper went big with her viral hit “No More Parties,” which received a remix from Lil Durk. She’s also done collaborations with Pooh Shiesty and others. Despite her popularity, Leray has been criticized for a number of things, from her music to her physical appearance. There was a point where it became too much for her to handle. She even almost called it quits. However, one of her past collaborators changed her mind.

In a post on her Instagram Story, Leray revealed that Lil Durk stopped her from quitting music. “Almost gave up one day and he told me don’t ever stop,” she wrote next to a picture of herself and the Chicago rapper. “Most artist show love from a distance on some weird sh*t, but this man right here believed in me, believe[d] in ‘No More Parties’ and been behind me ever since. He know a star when he see one, and I just wanna thank you for all your support. OTF FOREVER.”

The rapper recently dropped her latest single, “Twinnem,” which was the follow-up to her confident single, “Okay Yeah,” released last month.

Pooh Shiesty is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Lil Yachty Shares All In His ‘No More Beatboxing Freestyle’ Video

It seems like every day brings another “BeatBox” freestyle, but Lil Yachty has arrived to shut it all down with his offering to the trend, “No More Beatboxing Freestyle.” As you may have guessed from the title, the first half of the song utilizes the beat from Coi Leray’s viral hit “No More Parties,” while the second half sees Boat taking a swing at SpotemGottem’s “BeatBox” instrumental.

In the accompanying visual, a solo Yachty roams his playhouse-like home, showing off his art collection. I use “art” here loosely, because the setup mostly consists of pop culture ephemera like life-size Batman and Ninja Turtle statues (shout out Leonardo), a clear-top piano, and a truly jaw-dropping collection of sneakers. In his rhymes, the former self-declared “king of the teens” recalls his explosive entry into the rap game and touches on his recent forays into Michigan’s underground rap scene with tracks like “Not Regular” and “Royal Rumble.”

Yachty, who is fresh off the dual releases of his tracks “Asshole” and “In My Stussy’s,” is the latest rapper to tackle the viral hit since DaBaby turned in a scene-stealing “Beat Box” freestyle of his own. Since then, Deante’ Hitchcock, Mulatto, and Polo G have all tried their hands, with Polo adding the twist of connecting the “No More Parties” beat, along with CJ’s “Whoopty.”

Coi Leray And Lil Durk Deal With The Remnants Of A Get-Together In Their ‘No More Parties’ Video

Coi Leray’s 2021 is off to a great start and it comes as a result of her “No More Parties” track. The single was released at the end of January and quickly found success on TikTok thanks to a short video with the song playing in the background that tallied more than 42 million views in just a week. Giving it a second boost, she tapped Lil Durk for a remix of the song, which helped the record reach its peak of No. 32 on the Billboard singles chart. Nearly a month after the remix was dropped, Leray and Durk join forces for a new visual for the song.

While the motto of “no more parties” is clear to Leray, her friends failed to receive the message as they threw a wild get-together at her home while she was gone. Upon her return, she’s left to clean up the mess that was left behind. From Solo cups to unwarranted guests, Leray is tasked with removing all of the unwanted components from her home with some well-supplied help from Durk.

“No More Parties” stands as a great follow-up to her 2020 EP, Now Or Never. The six-track effort was backed by guest appearances from Gunna, Kiana Lede, Sevyn Streeter, and Fetty Wap. As for Lil Durk, the video arrives days after he appeared on The Tonight Show to perform “Still Trappin” and “Stay Down” with 6lack.
