Remy Ma, Fat Joe, and producing tandem Cool & Dre, have a newish collaboration together, “Outta Control”. The track is just over a month old and even with that much time passing, it’s still generating buzz. Originally, the bars were up for debate, particularly on the part of the fiery femcee. “They said I shot a friend over a band, and? / Imagine what I’d do to a b**** that I can’t stand / Right now, I’m on the edge, so don’t push me“. If you aren’t familiar that first line is a real-life reference to when Remy shot Makeda Barnes-Joseph back in 2007. This led to her receiving convictions of assault, possession of an illegal weapon, and attempted coercion in 2008.

Listeners were in an uproar and wondering why she chose to rap about that with such braggadocio. In addition, the July 12 cut was also getting the community talking because of the name she used in the writing credits. Instead of attributing her work to Remy Mackie, one that Remy’s been using since marrying Papoose in ’08, “Outta Control” was penned by Remy Kioni Smith. That would happen to be her maiden name, further suggesting that her and the fellow NY MC were done.

DaBaby Wins Motion To Delay Battery Case In Which Victim Admitted To N-Word Usage

DaBaby has successfully gotten the trial for the battery lawsuit he’s facing delayed. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Cherol J. Nellon made the ruling, this week, telling the rapper’s new attorney, Alec Rishwain, that he will only have a brief period of time to catch up on the case. Gary Pagar, who accused Baby of beating him up and robbing him during a music video shoot in Los Angeles, filed the lawsuit back in 2021.

“While I appreciate you are new to the case, everyone else is not. So if this is going to go to trial, it’s going to go soon,” Nellon told Rishwain. “This is a 2021 case. In the whole scheme of things, I just think this case needs to go to trial.” The latest update comes after DaBaby previously pleaded guilty to attacking Pagar in the related criminal case. In doing so, he was able to avoid jail time.

DaBaby hopes that he’ll be able to submit a video of Pagar saying the n-word during the confrontation as evidence for the trial, although the plaintiff’s team has attempted to block the move. “After defendant Jonathan Kirk punched Plaintiff Gary Pagar in the face without warning, knocking out his tooth and leaving him lying on the ground bleeding profusely; and after Mr. Kirk’s associates had pushed, taunted, threatened, and spat on Mr. Pagar, stolen his phone, and vandalized his house — after these events, Mr. Pagar uttered the ‘N-word,’” they admitted, arguing it was irrelevant to the assault in question.

DaBaby’s lawyers countered: “Plaintiff admits that there is no factual dispute as to whether he yelled the ‘N-word’ to Kirk yet conveniently seeks to argue that such a racial slur is irrelevant to the claim of battery. Whenever Travis Scott falls just short of winning something, it feels like his fans can be more upset than him. That seems to be the case, at least for now. If you head over to X (formerly Twitter), you are going to see a lot of angry reactions over Sabrina Carpenter narrowly defeating La Flame in the intense sales battle. Overall, that isn’t really news. However, what is interesting is the fact that fans of Travis Scott are accusing Billboard of tampering with the final results. According to an account by the name of In The Mix, they came across some apparent video evidence of this “robbery”.

In the allegedly accurate footage, a user is navigating the Music Connect platform and heads over to a “Daily Billboard 200” data base. After clicking on it, it shows the week in which the sales would be tallied, August 22-29. As you’ll be able to see, the results before the final recount show that Scott was actually ahead of Sabrina, 365,817 to 354,436. Of course, the official results were 362,000 to 361,000 in favor of the pop hitmaker. Furthermore, it shows that DAYS BEFORE RODEO was whaling on Short n’ Sweet in terms of physical sales, 333,582 to 177,382.

Conversely, the actual numbers were 331,000 for Scott and 184,000 for Carpenter. For context, the clip was posted on X about 12 hours ago, quite a bit after the last count was announced. Overall, the fans could have valid evidence, but it’s definitely hard to be 100% sure. Billboard, among others, go back forth on whether or not include bundles, deluxe versions, and etc. into the total. In this case, if this video is true then there may be a chance that they removed some sales. Or there could have been an honest mistake and they did in fact include all of the different packages each artist offered.

The Weeknd has confirmed that his sixth studio album and the final in his ongoing trilogy will be titled, Hurry Up Tomorrow. It follows 2020’s After Hours and 2022’s Dawn FM. The Weeknd made the announcement on his Instagram page on Wednesday while sharing more details about the highly-anticipated project.

“Yesterday was fourteen years ago… We held our breath, falling into a shimmering sea in the after hours of the night. Attempted to cleanse the wounds with melodies and lights, a bulletproof bandage to shield what lies beneath…,” he wrote in a video showing red text scrolling up the screen. “In a place where the seasons never changed, where time ceased to exist. But therein lays the problem. Today has felt like an endless spin. I keep distorting the truth, immune to the dizziness, numb to the nausea. What lies beneath — screams in silence… i look in the mirror and feel both old and new stuck in limbo and unable to move.
