SOURCE SPORTS: Eastside Golf Hosts Second Annual Invitational With Fabolous, Anthony Andersen, Victor Cruz, CC Sabathia And More

Eastside Golf, the lifestyle golf brand that is changing the cultural perception of the game, hosted its second annual Eastside Golf Invitational at Liberty National Golf Club on Monday, September 16th. The event brought together fans of the brand; celebrities including Anthony Andersen, Terrence Jenkins, CC Sabathia, Victor Cruz, Angie Martinez and the Morehouse College golf team to experience the game the Eastside Golf way – promoting authenticity, confidence and diversity – to showcase that golf is a game for everyone.

With “Return of the Mack”, “Bad Boys for Life” and “No Diggity” setting the vibe, 72 players teed off for the shamble format at one of the most scenic golf courses in America. Players were proudly decked out in Eastside Golf’s signature gear, including its newly-announced Nike footwear collaboration which attendees received before the shoes are on sale to the public later this fall.

On the course, players enjoyed special activations from Gin & Juice by Dre and Snoop and MolsonCoors. D’USSÉ cognac was pouring its signature D’USSÉ Lemonade cocktail, featuring D’USSÉ VSOP Cognac and lemonade, on the second hole as well as throughout the evening’s festivities.

After players wrapped up 18 holes, the night kicked off with a surprise performance by rapper Fabolous who treated the crowd to a catalog of his hits including “You Be Killin Em” and “Make Me Better”.

The Eastside Golf Invitational set out to provide continued support to Morehouse College golf, and this year raised a significant financial contribution to support the team’s student athletes thanks to the event’s presenting sponsor Mercedes-Benz USA. Over the years, Eastside Golf has contributed nearly $300,000 to the Morehouse College golf team, the same institution where co-founders Olajuwon Ajanaku and Earl Cooper won a national title in 2010. The Invitational marks another milestone in the multi-year partnership between Eastside Golf and Mercedes-Benz USA to create and support activations to increase inclusivity in the game, and a mutual effort to support HBCU golf programs.

The second annual Eastside Golf Invitational capped off a blockbuster week and a half for Eastside Golf, which kicked off on September 4th with the announcement of its first footwear collaboration with Nike, and its first-ever retail experience with a pop-up at Shopify NY that ran from September 13 – 15th.

Quavo, Ty Dolla $ign, and ARE WE DREAMING (Composer – Brian Tyler) – roll out the official music video for their resilient anthem, “If I Fall,” for Paramount Animation and Hasbro Entertainment’s upcoming motion picture TRANSFORMERS ONE.

Directed by Brian Tyler (ARE WE DREAMING) and DJ Furth, the epic video for “If I Fall” features a dynamic visual aesthetic with red and blue laser themes that reflect the intense juxtaposition between Optimus Prime and Megatron. Quavo, Ty Dolla $ign, and ARE WE DREAMING (chorus vocals) build up the tension as they passionately deliver their verses while clips from TRANSFORMERS ONE are shown on the background screens and integrated throughout the video, serving as a backdrop to the impending fallout between the two characters. About the video, Tyler said, “It was so dope getting to work with legends Quavo and Ty Dolla who both killed it in the video for “If I Fall”, which has a sick sci-fi feel that brings you into the world of Transformers. The sets were epic, it felt like we were on Cybertron.”

Tyler also edited the video alongside Elizabeth Saltzman. “It’s kind of crazy directing your own music video when you are also singing on it, playing the drums, editing the cut, and creating the visual effects. Being so integrated in the entire process has been insane but amazing,” Tyler gushed. “This video is actually the first of its kind for my upcoming audio-visual project Are We Dreaming, which I direct and create all the visuals for, as well as produce the music which spans many genres but is primarily centered around bass music and hip hop. Today, GRAMMY Award-winning artist Bilal unveils new single “Tell Me,” the latest from his forthcoming album Adjust Brightness, out September 27. Eight years following 2015’s In Another Life, a collaboration with Adrian Younge that drew from the psychedelic verve of vintage funk, Adjust Brightness marks a bold new chapter for Bilal. This album is a giant step forward, as Bilal merges his organic, soulful roots with experimental electronic influences inspired by artists like Aphex Twin, Stereolab, and Jai Paul. The creation of Adjust Brightness was deeply inspired by a period of musical and visual experimentation. Bilal began to approach his music much like a painter approaches a canvas — focusing on moods, textures, and atmospheres rather than traditional song forms. His experiences with experimental jazz and live performances fed into this avant-garde direction, and tracks like “Sunshine” and “Humility” highlight his innovative use of atmospheric grooves, intricate beats, and sonic manipulation. Though he’s venturing into new territory, the album retains the warmth, intimacy, and emotional core that have always defined Bilal’s artistry.

Rich Homie Quan’s First Posthumous Track ‘Song Cry” Released On Day Of Rapper’s Funeral

The late Rich Homie Quan, who passed away September 5, will have the first posthumous track, “Song Cry”, released on the day of Quan’s memorial services in Atlanta today(September 17).

Song Cry is a real personal and emotional effort from Quan, who recognizes the pitfalls and downsides of fame and celebrity status.

“Aye, this one here personal,” he says in the intro. “I know a lot of my songs, y’all don’t take serious in a way, but I want y’all to turn this one up.”

The song comes on the day of Quan’s funeral in College Park, GA, where the expected crowd is anticipated to shut down several roads in the Southside of Metro Atlanta.

The funeral, which is being termed a “celebration of life,” is taking place at World Changers Church International. Fans will also be able to view the rapper’s body beforehand through purchasing tickets. After the funeral, there will be a repass celebrating Rich Homie Quan’s life at The Bank, a club-like venue in Atlanta.

Even though an autopsy was recently completed, his cause of death has not been made publicly known.

Rich Homie Quan was only 34 years old.

Happy 58th Birthday To “The Original Human Beat Box” Doug E Fresh!

Born today in 1966 as Douglas Davis, Doug E Fresh is known as “the greatest entertainer” in Hip Hop, with his ability, to rap, dance, and perform his original human beatbox, which is what has made him one of the most important figures to the culture.

In the early 80s, Fresh performed among some of the greatest pioneering acts of the game including The Treacherous Three but started his own Get Fresh Crew and recruited a young Englishman who resided in the Bronx named MC Ricky D aka “Slick Rick” Walters. These two created a song called “The Show” in 1985, a monumental track that is a landmark in the musical aspect of Hip Hop. On the flip side of The Show was “La-Di-Da-DI”, a human beatbox powered, an xxx-rated song that catapulted both Doug E Fresh and Slick Rick’s popularity to how they are respected as the pioneers they are today.

Sean 'Diddy' Combs Rebrands Combs Enterprises to Combs Global as Business Portfolio Expands

According to several confirmed reports, Bad Boy mogul Sean “Dddy” Combs has been taken into federal custody in New York today(September 16). Reports state that the troubled music exec was taken into the FBI field office in Manhattan.

The detainment is reportedly connected to the ongoing federal investigation into alleged sex trafficking that led to the FBI and ATF raids on his Los Angeles and Miami mansions earlier this summer.

Marc Agnifilo, attorney for Combs, stated to TMZ, “We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Sean “Diddy” Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man, and proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, adoring his children, and working to uplift the Black community.” Agnifilo adeds, “He is an imperfect person but is not criminal. To his credit Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges. Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts. These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.”

This will mark Taylor and Serrano’s long-awaited rematch following their historic bout at Madison Square Garden in 2022, where they made history as the first-ever women fighters to headline an event in the iconic venue’s history. SOURCE SPORTS: Mets’ Lindor Out Of Lineup Again After Playing For One Inning In Last Game Against Phils

The Mets are remaining optimistic going into their seven-game homestead against the Phillies and the Nationals after a nail biting loss against Philadelphia during the same game that Francisco Lindor was taken out due to an ongoing back injury. According to Lindor himself, he might be on the bench for what “could be three to five days” at the most crucial point in the Mets’ season.

Even though the prognosis of the 30-year-old shortstop isn’t deemed “too serious”, Lindor underwent MRI imaging after being taken out of Sunday’s game to determine the damage done to his lower back. Even though the results show no structural damage to his back, Lindor was left out of Monday’s lineup against Washington, with second baseman Jose Iglesias moving over to shortstop and taking Lindor’s leadoff spot in the batting order.

“I still have a little bit of pain, but we had good news,” Lindor said. “Everything seems like it’s good, it could be three to five days, or it could be two to three — depends on how my back reacts.”

He added, “I felt fine, I felt good — it wasn’t like a freak accident where I reinjured it. It just got tight on me. I just felt like I could play through it. And the next thing you know, I didn’t feel comfortable enough to stay on the field. When I can’t stay on the field to do what I love most, which is play defense, that’s when I said something. When I was a little timid on the ground balls.”

Team doctors agree that Lindo doesn’t need an injection in his back, so Lindor is hoping to be back before the end of the regular season.

“Honestly, relief. Really good news,” manager Carlos Mendoza said. “… I think we got the best news. Like [Lindor] said, it could be three to five [days], two to three, who knows? But the hope is that he’ll be a player for us before the year is over. So, I was expecting the worst to be honest.”

Recruited recently from Syracuse AAA-affiliate, Luisangel Acuna will be interchanging with Iglesias at shortstop until Lindor’s return. As Mets’ “ironman”, Lindor playing in all games of the regular season until today(September 16) has positively impacted the Mets’ chances at a Wild Card spot. With a three-game series ahead of New York vs. the Nationals followed by four games against Philly, the Mets’ postseason future will be determined this week at Citi Field.

On this date in 1999, one of Hip Hop’s greatest duos of all time, Erick and Parrish Making Dollars, released their fifth full length studio album Back In Business on Def Jam. EPMD were making stellar albums together since Hip Hop’s “Golden Era” and were actually the artists who appeared on the very first copy of The Source Magazine. So this album was actually a bittersweet one, being that Erick, who had now launched Def Squad while PMD maintained the Hit Squad banner, the two put out this album after feuding for the previous three years.

Getting back to their regularly scheduled program, EPMD did most of their own production and, of course, had Grandmaster DJ Scratch, contribute behind the boards along with newcomers Agallah and Rockwilder. Guest appearances included guest appearances from Def Squad members Keith Murray and Redman, while Hit Squad member Das EFX made an appearance on one track.

The album’s only standout track was the radio friendly “Da Joint”, which is partially why the album didn’t receive the critical acclaim that was given to their previous four projects. For the first time in their career, the “Brothers from Brentwood” underdelivered to their fans and most believed that their deliberate hiatus created a disconnect that couldn’t go unnoticed.

Salute to Erick, Parrish, Redman, Keith Murray, DJ Scratch, Rockwilder, Agallah and everyone else involved in this important piece of Hip Hop history!

Flavor Flav Fires Back At Donald Trump In Defense Of Taylor Swift

After former President Donald Trump expressed his disdain for famed singer Taylor Swift on his Truth Social site after she publicly endorsed VP Kamala Harris, Public Enemy hype man Flavor Flav quickly and passionately jumped to Swift’s defense.

Flav took to X and posted “I LOVE TAYLOR SWIFT,!!” Flav in his response to Trump’s “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” COMMENT. One X user accused the 65-year-old rap legend of catering to Swift fans, saying, “Pandering to the swifties? Pretty pathetically hilarious,” Flav returned fire, replying, “You must be new here,,, allow me to reintroduce myself,,, they call me KING SWIFTIE.” He also retweeted actor Mark Hamil expressing his support for Swift as well.

Outside of politics, Swift attended the Kansas City Chiefs’ win over the Cincinnati Bengals over the weekend to cheer on her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
