Central Cee Is In His Bag On “Me And You”

All eyes are on Central Cee right now. In the past few years, he’s emerged as one of the most consistent artists in the UK. The release of his debut project, Wild West turned him into a leading figure in the UK drill scene. Mind you, his brand of drill music isn’t necessarily like many of his peers. Though he details the harrowing realities of the roads, he’s proven that he can appeal to a much wider audience with infectious bangers.

The rapper hasn’t taken his foot off the gas in the past few years but with the increasing international attention, it appears that a new album could be coming soon. He dropped off 23 last year, which transformed him into a global star. However, it was the release of “Doja” that truly emphasized his star power. Before the song even dropped, the snippet garnered millions of views on TikTok and cemented its status as the song of the summer. Needless to say, he’s keeping that momentum high this year.

Central Cee Shares “Me & You” In Time For Valentine’s Day

Following the release of No More Leaks and December’s “LET GO,” Central Cee came through with his first drop of 2023, “Me And You.” In contrast to the break-up anthem that is “Let Go,” Cench’s latest release details a tale of loyalty. With EY and Razor holding down the production, Central Cee delivers a blistering love song that comes just in time for Valentine’s Day, which is when the music video will drop. It’s not your typical love ballad but Cee continues to push the boundaries to much success with each release.

The rapper’s latest offering comes as rumors of his relationship with online personality, Madeline Argy, began to dwindle. However, Central Cee makes it abundantly clear that they’re still going strong in the midst of his ascent to stardom while reassuring her that he’s faithful to her. Additionally, he also remarks on the controversial opening bars on “Doja,” rapping, “When I said that my bitch was gay, I didn’t mean that shit in a degradin’ way.” Check out Central Cee’s latest single above and read our 2022 cover story with the 23 rapper here.

Zacari & Ab-Soul Reunite For “Motions” Single

It’s been a major few months for the roster of artists at Top Dawg Entertainment. SZA finally delivered her sophomore effort, SOS, which has had an undeniably impressive run on the charts. Additionally, Ab-Soul’s Herbert project made an emotional debut after the rapper survived a suicide attempt in the midst of putting his work together.

Thankfully, the 35-year-old seems to be in a much better place now and even reflects on his mental health in a new collaborative track. This New Music Friday, Ab-Soul links up with Zacari for his “Motions” single, marking the duo’s fourth time working together. Previously, we’ve heard them on “Do Better” and “RAW (backwards).”

Additionally, they came together with Kembe X and Jay Rock to create the over five-and-a-half minute long must-hear single, “Raised A Fool.” While audiences obviously loved that, it’s time to make room in your playlist for Zacari and Ab-Soul’s most recent work. Thus far, “Motions” has been in constant rotation for many TDE fans all across the nation.

“No need to check up on, I’m doin’ just fine / I’m signin’ cheque after cheque, homie, I’m alright,” the former rhymes on the first verse. “But every time I go home, I get anxious / And every time I go home, I’m impatient,” he continues over production by ESTA.

For his part, Ab-Soul comes through with noteworthy bars later in “Motions.” He begins the third verse with, “Like five towers on top each other, I’m talkin’ high power / God’s rainin’, right now, you’re bathin’ in my shower.” He later closes his impressive rhymes out with “Chillin’ in silk sheets with you? / Have some empathy, would you? / I’m a sensitive Pisces and I keep it real, baby.”

SZA Joins Lizzo On “Special” Remix

Lizzo and SZA just released a remix of the former’s standout track from last year, the uplifting and soulful “Special.” Moreover, it’s the title track on Lizzo’s 2022 album, not SZA’s SOS cut of the same name. Even though this new version doesn’t switch up much from the original, it was already powerful to begin with. Furthermore, the TDE vocalist adds some gorgeous background vocals throughout its runtime. Given Lizzo’s recent Grammy win for Record of the Year, this song takes on a particularly triumphant feeling. As SZA supports her industry colleague, you can feel the confidence and gratitude pour out.

However, the “Kill Bill” singer didn’t stop there. In fact, she opens up this new version with a short, but thematically fitting narrative. Throughout her lines and beneath her soothing vocal tone, she handles negativity from external sources and finds comfort in self-affirmation. While many might try to bring them down, both artists look inward for satisfaction and are proud of their emotions. After her verse ends, the chart-dominating artist supports Lizzo as she sings her parts. Even if it’s a minimal addition, it’s certainly a powerful one that adds more dynamism to the track.

Meanwhile, SZA also appeared at the Grammys and presented Bad Bunny with the Best Música Urbana Album. After all the incredible success of SOS, we’re sure she’ll make a show-stopping return to the Recording Academy next year. Still, what did you think of Lizzo and SZA teaming up on the former’s inspiring album track, “Special”? However you feel, let us know in the comments and check out some notable lines from SZA’s verse down below. Also, if you haven’t heard the song yet, you can find the remix on your preferred streaming service. As always, check back in with HNHH for the best new music releases in hip-hop, R&B, and beyond.

VINSON Drops “Sunroof” Single Ahead Of Debut “SoftSweetRadical” EP

As the final hours of the weekend pass us by, new music posts continue to surface across our site. As always, we have an artist markedly making their debut on HNHH today (February 5) with his “Sunroof” single. VINSON previously dropped the groovy track a few days ago in preparation for his upcoming debut EP.

The free-spirited release chiefly paints the picture of living in beautiful Southern California. “Slick thoughts and office talks done got me here,” he sings over production from Timo and Harriet Brown. According to a press release, the R&B artist took inspiration from D’Angelo and Maxwell in making his song.

“When I first heard the beat for ‘Sunroof,’ I thought of all the fly blaxploitation shit in the ’70s,” VOISIN says of his work. “It kinda feels like we’re living through a period similar to that right now. Finding a way to temporarily ignore disillusionment to stay present and focus on the fly shit,” he further explains.

The lead single also comes with a Mike Harris-directed visual that finds him living the West Coast dream through a yellow-tinted lens. Around him are stripper poles, fur coats, and of course, California’s rolling terrain. It ultimately all comes together to tell the dreamy story found in VOISIN’s own lyrics.

“With the video just trying to convey that feeling through the city I moved to in Los Angeles. It can get hectic out here but you can also create your own heaven if you want to, even when you see and feel the madness in the background. Just don’t get stuck,” he advises listeners.

Along with Sunroof, VOISIN announced that his debut SoftSweetRadical project will arrive next month, on March 3rd. It’s coming via Wichita Records, and the singer plans to celebrate with a release party on March 10th at a secret location in Los Angeles.

Jay Wheeler Asks For Help On His New Single, “SOS”

This is for the Boricuas out there. Puerto Rican reggaeatón and pop artist Jay Wheeler just released a new single and music video, “SOS.” However, this track leans into 80s-inspired production and an atmospheric sonic pallet. As such, if you’re unfamiliar with reggaetón artists or Latin music in general, this might be a great intro point for you. Moreover, he longs for a romantic partner, sending distress signals for her to join him, and conveys a lot of heart in his performance. Also, this single follows an incredible 2022, where he dropped his biggest album to date and sold out multiple shows. Now, he’s getting ready for his first world tour and new projects on the way.

“I’m very happy with the direction my career is taking, and I was dying to release new music and little by little show the people all the new things that are coming,” the 28-year-old expressed. “This song is part of that, we don’t stop for even a second. S.O.S. is a track that people will enjoy because it’s part of my essence and what my fans expect. It’s romantic, but danceable. I’m maintaining my style, but also combining a retro sound with modern elements, and I love the video. I hope people enjoy it and sing along with it.”

Still, what did you think of Jay Wheeler’s latest single, “SOS”? However you feel, let us know in the comments and check out some standout lines and the music video down below. Antha Pantha’s New “B.W.A.” Single Brings All The Harlem Realness

Most of the buzz in the music industry this weekend is surrounding tonight’s 65th annual Grammy Awards. Some of the biggest names in hip-hop and R&B have been nominated for prestigious prizes, which is undeniably exciting. Of course, that doesn’t mean we can’t take time to celebrate the artists presently on the rise. Antha Pantha is one such name, and she’s making her HNHH debut today with her “B.W.A.” single.

The song landed on Friday (February 3) and showcases the Harlem native’s sheer grit and confidence in herself. The Frankie P-produced title is short for “Bitches With Attitude,” and through her bars, the lyricist proves that she’s exactly that.

“I ain’t from the West Coast, but I’m from the West Side / But I got me a n*gga on the East Side,” she tells listeners. “I don’t pre-record nothin’, man, I do my sh*t live / Play around with me and you gon’ get the B-side.”

Along with the must-hear single, Pantha also gave fans a Renell Medrano-directed visual. Throughout various clips, she and her friends sport vintage beehive hairstyles while they take care of business. Eventually, we even see them travel across town to confront a group of haters.

“I wrote this song because ‘women with attitudes’ is typically looked at as a bad thing,” Pantha explained in a press release. “I want the girls that hear this to embrace their feminine attitude unapologetically. Attitude should represent confidence and swag, not just a stank face.”

This new release follows the New Yorker’s collaboration with A$AP Ferg, her childhood friend, on the “Real Bitches” music video. The track was the female artist’s debut single, and not long after its arrival, the “Shabba” hitmaker tapped his pal to join him in Tokyo to celebrate New Year’s Eve.

Wiz Khalifa Joins DVBBS On Their “Sh Sh Sh (Hit That)” Single

EDM producers DVBBS just tapped Wiz Khalifa for their own spin on a viral track with “Sh Sh Sh (Hit That).” Moreover, its inspiration “Hit That” by Urfavxboyfriend and Goldsoul caught a lot of attention recently on TikTok. The original’s a dark but oddly charismatic trap cut, thanks to the whooshy mouthed sounds of gunfire from the artists. After its success, DVBBS loved what they heard and reached out to all artists involved to do a collab together. Furthermore, their take on “Hit That” is a house and jungle-inspired dance cut that mixes the original’s verses with heavy kicks and a Wiz verse.

However, the track still switches up its genre of choice and its instrumental pallet quite often in the track. As such, the various phases, transitions, and movements throughout “Sh Sh Sh” make it a pretty dynamic track. First, the track begins with an energetic build-up to Urfavxboyfriend’s verse, which uses house-like rhythms. Then, it switches into a small trap section with deep bass and sharp percussion. Finally, distorted bass breaks the song up before resonant grand piano chords introduce Wiz’s verse. “I’m rolling papers like diplomas,” he begins his charismatic and focused contribution. “I’m getting baked like this a sauna / I love all the woman, different genres / I seen all expensive s**t and bought it.” Overall, “Sh Sh Sh (Hit That)” is a fun and fittingly to-the-point reimagining of a fun and to-the-point viral track.

Terrace Martin Rocks “Chucks” With Channel Tres On Funky New Single

Terrace Martin just tapped Channel Tres for a funky and lush new single, “Chucks.” The two Los Angeles natives walk in pretty different musical lanes, but their link-up sparks fireworks. Moreover, Tres’ understated and almost sensual vocals pair with his deep house-inspired production. Also, there’s the undercurrent of soul and funk that runs throughout a lot of his work in the bassline and trumpets. However, Martin pops in the track with wailing saxophone and riffs effortlessly over the peppy jam. Even if you haven’t heard of these artists before, this track is a must on your weekly feel-good jams.

Furthermore, the acclaimed saxophonist is nominated for a Grammy this year for Best Progressive R&B Album for DRONES. Also, he’s got a few upcoming shows as part of his Dinner Party supergroup with Kamasi Washington, 9th Wonder, and Robert Glasper. They include a Terminal 5 set in New York and even a spot at Coachella this year. On the other hand, Channel Tres steadily released singles, featured on projects, and even dropped a couple of his own. If you’ve listened to either in any capacity, you know the curious potential of a track like this. While we’re not used to hearing Martin over electronic production, Channel Tres makes him feel right at home.

In fact, Channel’s quite good at adapting his style and production habits to varying genres and moods. Even Danny Brown’s wild delivery and zany bars sounded effortlessly cool on their collab with Baauer, “READY TO GO.” Still, what did you think of Terrace Martin’s latest track “Chucks” featuring Channel Tres? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments and peep some standout lines from the song down below. Also, if you haven’t heard it yet, you can find the single on your preferred streaming service. As always, check back in with HNHH for the latest great music releases each week.

Russ “Can’t Get This Right” On New Single

New Jersey-born and Atlanta-based artist Russ is back with a breezy and heartfelt new single, “Can’t Get This Right.” However, this track feels less like a new drop and more like business as usual for the rapper: a quality track every couple of weeks. Moreover, his last single was “PUT YOU ON GAME” just a few weeks ago, a hyped and boastful trap cut. He put out a load of singles last year, each with similar art styles but with pretty varied sonic pallets. Whether he’s working towards a compilation project or just dropping what he feels, his fans are well-fed.

Furthermore, “Can’t Get This Right” is a melodic, emotive, and classic-sounding effort from the 30-year-old. While the track is about a relationship coming to an end despite both sides’ efforts, it’s not really a downer. For example, the high-pitched vocal samples in the background give the track a positive, chipmunk-soul energy. Also, the crisp and steady R&B beat will make you bob your head regardless of whether you relate to the heartbroken lyrics. In terms of Russ’s performance, he maintains a light and confident middle register as he switches between the sung chorus and melodic verses. Still, it contrasts his expressions and reflections on this track, indicating a painful and yearning end to a crumbling relationship.

While the rapper acknowledges that something needs to change in him and his partner, he realizes they can’t grow together. But enough about relationship issues; what did you think of Russ’s new track, “Can’t Get This Right”? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments and check out some standout bars from the single down below. Also, if you haven’t heard it yet, you can find the song on your preferred streaming service. As always, come back to HNHH for more quality releases in hip-hop, R&B, and any place in between each week.

Quotable Lyrics
We both know what to do, but pride is in the way-way
We both obsessed with bein’ right, can’t walk away-way

We don’t know if we makin’ it, it feels like ain’t no savin’ it

Tink Gets “Toxic” On New Single

Chicago rapper and singer Tink is back with a new song, the gorgeous and heart-ached “Toxic.” Moreover, the track is an exploration of a past relationship that she now regrets, conveying a lot of resentment and betrayed hindsight. Also, this is her first release since Pillow Talk dropped in August of 2022. Furthermore, the album featured 2 Chainz, G Herbo, Muni Long, and many more. Still, this solo outing displays Tink’s versatile talents, cutting lyricism, and measured sonic presentation. While you might know her for either her R&B or hip-hop escapades, you can’t deny her skill in either lane.

However, despite the track’s title, this is actually a very smooth and gorgeously produced cut. Sure, it only lasts two minutes and change, but its short sweetness means she punched in a lot of passion quickly. From the opening string melody, complemented with bright and soothing glockenspiel, the track continues its mellow trajectory. Moreover, the 27-year-old’s vocals soar prominently as the track’s main draw. Even if the instrumental backdrop is undoubtedly wondrous, it’s not enough to lessen the angst in Tink’s vocals. Still, it’s a compelling and dynamic mix of emotionally contrasting lyricism and instrumental prowess.

However, maybe you prefer a more even mix of the Chicago MC’s rapping and singing. For example, maybe you find this beat a little too slow. In that case, we’d recommend standout tracks from Pillow Talk like “Oooh Triflin” with Fabulous. Regardless, what did you think of Tink’s latest heart-ached but perseveringly beautiful new song, “Toxic”? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments and check out the music video and notable lines down below. Also, if you haven’t heard the track yet, you can find the ballad on your preferred streaming service. As always, stay locked into HNHH for the best new releases each week in R&B and beyond.
