Jace! Delivers His Fifteenth Project Of 2024 With “Curation 4”

Jace! cites his main inspirations as Chief Keef and Summrs, among FBG Duck, and more. We can definitely see why he looks up to them because all of their discographies are quite massive just like his. However, when we listen to Curation 4, the latest offering from Jace!, we hear quite a bit of Lil Uzi Vert as well. His vocal inflections and some of the dreamy and wavy productions sound like some of the Philadelphia MC’s earlier material. You will see a lot of “Jace” coverage on our site already. However, this our first time covering “Jace!” from Fort Worth, Texas. The 21-year-old rapper, who used to go by TGE Duwap, has been making waves in the underground for a few years.

He does have a few big hits though, including “20 Min,” “Gostyle 2023 Freestyle,” “556 (Green Tip),” among others. These three alone have nearly 100 million streams combined. Jace! isn’t just a spitter though. He also produces, is an audio engineer, a guitarist, as well as a streamer. As we said, his influences are some of the more prolific names in the game, and he has some work with a handful of them. Summrs is perhaps his most notable collaborator, as according to his Genius page, they used to be close friends. Curation 4 is out everywhere now, and it’s his 15th project released overall this year! Check it out below and see what you think.

Yhapojj Drops Off Precursing EP “Before T.L.Y.”

Yhapojj is maintaining quite a strong work ethic this year since coming onto the rap scene back in 2020 with freestyles. The Huntsville, Alabama native, known for his unconventional auto-tuned delivery and off-beat rapping, has been busy pumping out projects left and right. As of this weekend, Yhapojj has increased that total to four with the release of Before T.L.Y. It’s more of an EP/mixtape, and according to Pitchfork, it’s a big wink to the camera. Very soon, Yhapo will be dropping an album called Thanks Li Yhap. When it will arrive remains a mystery, but for now, fans are enjoying what he’s laying down on Before T.L.Y.

Most of his charm comes from those attributes we mentioned a second ago. However, in the case of this mixtape, Yhapojj sounds mostly incoherent. His biggest draw is more of a detriment, and it makes most of the listening experience frustrating and disheartening. What keeps things interesting is the production, which flirts with trap, underground, and maybe even a little hyperpop. But the vocals are what really hurt the project, especially some of the adlibs. Yhapo’s “yuh” is over most of the record and sometimes he draws it out way too long to the point where his verses sound even more jumbled. Hopefully, Thanks Li Yhap will be an improvement. Still, though, give Before T.L.Y., featuring Benji Blue Bills, Nino Paid, and more, a try with the streaming links below.

Tha God Fahim Reunites With Nicholas Craven For Second Installment Of The “Dump Gawd: Hyperbolic Time Chamber Rap” Series

Tha God Fahim, one of Georgia’s most effortless lyricists, and Montreal’s underground producing titan, Nicholas Craven, are back it. These two have been underappreciated since they got into the game, and they are showing everyone why they need more praise. These cross-country buddies have been extremely prolific for years, and 2024 has been no different. They are continuing to do most of their damage on Bandcamp and YouTube, dropping off four projects in a month-long span. Tha God Fahim and Nicholas Craven kicked things off on October 24 by revitalizing their Tha Myth Who Never Quit series with the second and third entries.

That trilogy is five years old now and it’s one that has quickly become a fan-favorite run of tapes. Another one you can now throw in there is one that saw its inception take place about a week and a half ago. That would be Dump Gawd: Hyperbolic Time Chamber Rap. Tha God Fahim and Craven extended the Time Chamber Rap collection to 2 with eight tracks, which some of the best soul chops/loops you’ll hear all year. Like most of their bodies of work, its on those two platforms we mentioned earlier. If you want to support the artists in full, you can click the first “[Via]” link to purchase the digital album. Or if you check out the second shortcut, that will take you to the YouTube page.

Hitkidd, Rico Nasty, Duke Deuce, & Xavier Wulf Drop Off A Crunk Anthem With “B.W.T.U.”

Hitkidd threw his name into the “election” this past weekend with his new tape, Hitkidd For President. It’s the Memphis producer’s fourth project overall and second this year. If you haven’t heard of his work before, go check out GloRilla’s “F.N.F (Let’s Go)” and then come back. He’s been moving up the ranks for the past five years and he’s looking to be one of the faces of Memphis hip-hop that will carry the sound on for decades. He’s still just 29, so he’s certainly got the time to really stamp his name into the region’s rich history of rap. Hitkidd For President had been in the works for about a year or so, with the first single, “Throw Ya Signs Up!” dropping back in August 2023.

It seems like the mission for this body of work was to bring more modern-sounding bangers with some odes to subgenres from the city. One of those is crunk, which is prevalent on the stacked Hitkidd collaboration between Rico Nasty, Duke Deuce, and Xavier Wulf, “B.W.T.U.” That stands for “B**** We Turnt Up” and that acronym is a very accurate representation of the track. Right after the sung chants of “Start a f***ing revolution,” Duke Deuce comes in and immediately gets you ready for what’s ahead. His now iconic and drawn-out catchphrase “What the f***” and “Aye aye” adlibs set the tone perfectly for Rico’s nasty delivery (pun intended) and Xavier’s old-school Memphis delivery on the backend. It’s a banger through and through and an instant save from the project. You can spin it for yourself, below.

BabyTron Drops Off A Whole “Tronicles” Worth Of Songs On His Latest Tape

There aren’t many wordsmiths like BabyTron in today’s game. From unsung and unapologetic underground figure to fringe mainstream star, the Detroit native has come a long way. It’s thanks to that personality on the mic that is unmatched and he’s wild metaphors and similes. He was able to showcase that ability, but on a slightly more restrained level earlier this year for one his elders, Eminem. “Tobey” wound up charting on the Hot 100 and it’s really helped grow his audience. He currently sits at just under five million monthly listeners on Spotify and we can only see that getting larger with more time.

While the cleaner version of BabyTron was nice, it’s great to hear him back on his antics with Tronicles. From focusing one of the cringiest trends in pop culture with “Hawk Tuah” to likening himself to Donald Trump on “Tronald Trump,” he’s pulling out all the stops. It also wouldn’t be a BabyTron tape if weren’t for the extremely long tracklist, with this one totaling 28. Tronicles comes on the heels of much shorter releases such as February’s Case Dismissed, or his collab tape with Certified Trapper, Mario & Luigi. It’s a lot of music to dive into, but we think you’ll find a few gems on this project.

Loe Shimmy Selects Brent Faiyaz To Accompany Him For Remix Of Hit “For Me”

Since bubbling at the start of the 2020’s decade, Florida rapper Loe Shimmy is easily having his biggest year yet in 2024. The Pompano Beach native has ramped up his production exponentially, as he has put out now four projects. His Zombie series of records has ballooned up to 4.5 now thanks to him kicking things off with Zombieland 2 back in March. The .5, or .6 in this case, comes from the deluxe version of that aforementioned record. Finally, the latest entry is The Z Files, which features a series of remasters and other songs. However, that fourth project has broken the streak and its titled Nardy World.

It’s out as of today, November 8, but we want to shift our focus to one track in particular. Loe Shimmy and Brent Faiyaz are generating some buzz for their left-field collaboration, “For Me.” Outside of it being an unexpected link-up, it’s creating some excitement thanks to “For Me” being Loe’s biggest song. For context, the Zombieland 2 cut currently boasts over 12.5 million streams. Given the stark stylistic difference of these two, you would think this collaboration would have zero chance. Well, to be honest, it’s actually pretty decent. Faiyaz comes in with some of his smoothest vocals to date over the understated and lowkey skittering production. He steals the show to some degree, and we wouldn’t mind hearing him over the beat by himself someday. But let us know how you are feeling about it below.

And I know, and I know you put that on for me

Ralfy The Plug Paints Himself As “Grandmaster Ralfy” On His Fourth Project Of 2024

Ever since the untimely and unfair loss of Drakeo the Ruler nearly three yers ago, his brother Ralfy the Plug has vowed to carry the torch. “You did it by yo self you was a self made boss and a leader,” the Los Angeles rapper began in an IG tribute. “You was my idol and big brother and I learned a lot from you and I’m definitely gone make sure they still know the truth.” Overall, the equally prolific Ralfy has done so by releasing some posthumous material of Drakeo’s.

However, he’s also been making his sibling proud by working as hard as he did. You can say that his passing has inspired him to drop at an unconscious rate. Since the beginning of 2022, he’s put out over 10 unique projects, along with multiple deluxe versions. Over this weekend, Ralfy the Plug has added to that insane run with GRANDMASTER RALFY. It’s the fourth LP from him in 2024 and it’s also his beefiest. It’s 21 solo cuts but it manages to fall under an hour in runtime. Overall, you are getting typical Ralfy with erratic flows and quirky productions. In terms of the latter, there are multiple that impress us and some that only he can perform well on. “THE BLUE PRINT,” “AIN’T THAT DEEP,” and “NO BIG HOMIES” are some our favorites. But we want to hear yours so check it out and let us know in the comments.

Darren Waller Details What Life Has Been Like Lately On “Internal Warfare: This Too Shall Pass”

Darren Waller seems to be all about sharing his personal bouts with his fans because he’s doing just that on Internal Warfare: This Too Shall Pass. It’s his newest EP of 2024, and it boasts four tracks, and one lead single. The latter is “This Too Shall Pass,” which sees the ex-NFL star sing and rap passionately over a moody and forlorn beat about his struggles. However, on the uplifting chorus, he knows that things are going to improve over time. It’s also a message to his supporters and it feels like a real heart-to-heart moment on the record.

All of the themes and messages present on Internal Wafare really evoke a quote that Waller had in a recent press release. He says, “The title of this project accurately depicts what 2024 has been like for me. Lots of change has brought about all kinds of thoughts, emotions, and mood swings that have been overwhelming at times. At the same time, those have made room for greater clarity, allowing me to see all the good in my life and to know I’m right where I’m supposed to be.” There has definitely been a lot of moving pieces for Waller this year, as he shockingly retired from professional football after just nine years and also divorced from WNBA star Kelsey Plum following a year of marriage. These are major life shifts, but he’s battled tested and confident that he’s moving in the right direction on this EP.

Che Noir Bodies Some Home-cooked Beats On “The Lotus Child”

Sometimes, hip-hop artists don’t always enjoy the writing and rapping aspect the most. Sometimes, they like getting behind the boards and piecing together melodies and instruments. That was the case for Che Noir, Buffalo, New York rapper and affiliate of 38 Spesh. She said it herself in the announcement of her latest record on social media. “I can’t wait til y’all hear what I cooked up on these beats. Production was my first love before rapping so it means the world to me to be back producing for myself,” Che Noir said about The Lotus Child. This her latest release in a busy 2024 that’s been filled with singles and an impressive EP in The Color Chocolate, Vol. 1.

If you aren’t too familiar with Che’s discography, her self-producing a project isn’t anything new. According to Underground Hip-Hop Blog, she was able to lay down some beats for her fourth EP After 12. Given all of this experience and passion for beat making, it’s not at all a shock that the soundscapes are lush and excellently crafted. Che is able to hit you with dark and aggressive boom-bap and vintage-esque R&B flavors as well. But all of this creative energy isn’t lacking in her performances on the mic at all. She raps about love, difficulties, and losses in her life, so the diversity is there topically as well. It’s another standout effort from Che Noir, so give it a try below.

Scarfo Da Plug’s Estate Shares First Posthumous Tape “From The Other Side, Vol. 1”

At the beginning of March 2021, the hip-hop community lost an underground soldier by the name of Scarfo Da Plug. He was a New Orleans rapper who carved out a role in the trap space and was steadily on the rise. He had been making noise since 2017 and broke through when he delivered Eviction Notice 2. Multiple songs from the tape are still some of his most streamed to date such as “Happier,” “Problems,” “Bad Influence,” and “Stressed Out.” He still has loyal fans to this day, even though his estate has not been releasing anything from the vault. Well, today that all changes, as Scarfo Do Plug’s From The Other Side, Vol. 1 is here as of Thursday.

However, this posthumous project comes during a frustrating and saddening time for the MC’s loved ones. Since two murder suspects from Georgia were arrested a few years ago, there hasn’t been much headway. This week though, the murder trial for Scarfo Da Plug was supposed to begin, specifically October 21. However, for some reason, things were pushed back until December, according to an update on IG from his family. They were releasing Scarfo Da Plug’s From The Other Side in celebration of justice beginning to be served. But even though they are dealing with this setback, they felt they couldn’t keep it any longer. We continue to wish the family and friends of Scarfo well during this painful period.
