Alvin Kamara Receives Three-Game Suspension For 2022 Vegas Fight

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara has been suspended for three games for his role in a fight in Las Vegas in 2022. Kamara pled no contest last month in a deal that saw the charges against him dropped. Kamara and three other men initially faced misdemeanor charges of conspiracy to commit battery. Furthermore, they also faced a felony charge of battery with substantial bodily harm. However, Kamara’s plea means he will no longer face felony charges. Instead, Kamara pled no contest to a misdemeanor charge of breaching the peace.

Kamara met with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell earlier this week to discuss the incident. “Obviously, I know that’s not really protocol, but I mean, he gave me the opportunity and I took it and went up there and met with him and it went well,” Kamara said. While no punishment was released at the time, Adam Schefter has since reported that Kamara will miss the first three games of the 2023 season. It will keep Kamara out of games against the Titans, Panthers, and Packers.

Kamara Apologizes For Fight Role

In a statement made before his suspension, Kamara apologized for his role in the altercation. “It’s a tough ordeal to be in. You know, I never want to be involved in something where someone gets hurt or severely injured or anything. Poor judgment on my end, definitely a bad decision, but I’m a man. Everything I’ve ever done in my life, I’ve stood on. And I can take accountability for it and I can say when I’m wrong and I was completely wrong.”

He continued. “Obviously, it’s hard to do that when you’ve got such an incident like that. I’ll be lying if I said it wasn’t tough,” Kamara said. “Lost a lot throughout this ordeal, definitely not looking for any pity, not looking for somebody to give me a pat on the back and say it’s OK. I know what I did, I know what I was involved in. I definitely take responsibility and that’s part of being a man and growing. From here, I just have to make the right decisions.”

Cam Jordan Intends To Retire With Saints Following New Extension

Cam Jordan has announced his intention to retire as a member of the New Orleans Saints after signing a two-year extension with the team. The eight-time Pro Bowler, who turned 34 last month, was drafted by the Saints in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft. In the last decade-plus, he has become one of the league’s most dependable defensive ends, racking up over 600 tackles and 100 sacks. Alongside his eight Pro Bowl appearances, he was also named First Team All-Pro in 2017.

According to Jordan’s representatives, he has now signed a two-year, $27.5 million extension with the Saints which will keep him in New Orleans through 2025. “I want to finish my career here,” Jordan said. “I want my storyline to be here.” He continued, I would love that my story has been drafted here, kept here, been here, never played a season without guaranteed money here. That’s probably in a category of its own right there. The story is to let unfold, finish and be here. So maybe Year 15, if there is a Year 16 [possibility], we’ll talk about it then. Probably won’t be,” Jordan told the media.

Jordan Wants To Be A Saints Lifer

Jordan’s desire to be a one-team player stems from the legacy of his father. Steve Jordan spent a 12-year career entirely with the Minnesota Vikings between 1982 and 1994. However, Jordan now has his focus squarely set on the 2023 season. Last year he overtook Ricky Jackson as the Saints’ franchise sacks leader. Jordan’s 115.5 sacks is the second-highest amongst active players. However, now Jordan wants to pass Jackson’s unofficial record of 123. The 123 mark is technically unofficial as sacks were not tracked during Jackson’s rookie year.

“Earning the official record last year was a phenomenal milestone,” Jordan said. “I’ve still got to get that unofficial. We’ll talk about it later.” In terms of other milestones, Jordan needs just five appearances to move into second place on the all-time appearance list for the Saints. Drew Brees currently holds the record with 228 appearances. “It has been such a phenomenal and amazing experience that I couldn’t see myself being in anything but Black and Gold,” Jordan said.

Alvin Kamara Pleads No Contest On 2022 Vegas Fight Charge

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Charge has agreed to enter a no-contest plea in the case of a 2022 fight in New Vegas. Kamara and three other men were initially facing misdemeanor charges of conspiracy to commit battery and a felony charge of battery with substantial bodily harm. However, Kamara’s plea means he will no longer face felony charges. Instead, Kamara will plead no contest to a misdemeanor charge of breaching the peace.

The charge stems from Kamara’s February 2022 arrest. Kamara and three other men were indicted after being accused of assaulting a man outside of a Vegas nightclub. What made the case more notable than simply involving an NFL star was the circumstances surrounding it. The assault reportedly occurred the night before the NFL Pro Bowl. Kamara then proceeded to play in the Pro Bowl the following day before being taken into custody. Kamara had initially reached a private settlement with the victim, Darnell Greene Jr., on July 10, 20He’23. As a result of his plea, Kamara will be sentenced to 30 hours of community service and a financial settlement of $105,000 to Greene Jr.

Kamara Turns Attention To NFL Season

“Alvin is pleased that this matter is behind him and looks forward to a successful NFL season,” Kamara’s attorney David Chesnoff said in a statement. It’s set to be a big season for Kamara and the Saints. The perennial NFC South contenders will be looking for their first playoff berth since 2020. After limping through two seasons without a permanent franchise signal caller, the Saints signed former Raiders QB Derek Carr. He’ll be backed up by the much-maligned Jameis Winston and fourth-round rookie Jake Haener. The Saints also went heavy on defense in the draft, taking two D-Line prospects with their first two picks. They also added some depth in free agency, including Foster Moreau.

Kamara once again looks to break the 1000-yard rushing mark for the first time in his career. For how prolific of a running back he has been, it’s easy to forget he’s never topped 1000 yards in a season. In 2022, Kamara had 897 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground. Furthermore, he added 490 yards and 2 touchdowns through the air. Furthermore, his contract contains a potential out after the season. While it’s unlikely they would take this, Kamara is technically playing on a contract year in 2023.

Derek Carr Signs With The Saints, Fans React

Derek Carr was one of the biggest free-agent quarterbacks in the NFL this offseason. Overall, there are some other interesting storylines to watch. For instance, Aaron Rodgers is someone who has been teasing a decision in regard to the Green Bay Packers. Moreover, Lamar Jackson and Daniel Jones are looking for massive contracts. However, if they do not get them, they could very well end up on other teams. This is all going down as Carr has been trying to find a new team to play for.

Out of all of these quarterbacks, Carr was the readiest to make a decision. He was a free agent and could go as he pleases. In fact, there had been all sorts of reports about Carr considering the New Orleans Saints. Overall, they are a franchise that has been in need of a new franchise QB, and Carr seemed to fit the bill. Although he hasn’t won a ton in terms of the postseason, he is still a top-15 quarterback in the league. Consequently, the Saints had some mutual interest.

Derek Carr Makes A Decision

Today, Carr took to Twitter where he posted a video of Tyrann Mathieu on the field prior to a Saints game. This pretty well confirmed the fact that Carr would be signing with the team. Subsequently, the Saints have some decisions to make as it pertains to Jameis Winston. They could trade him or just release him entirely. Moreover, they also have to think about Andy Dalton, who is also on the roster. Either way, it is confirmed that Carr is now their quarterback of the future, and it will be interesting to see how this goes.

As you can see in the tweets below, fans had some split reactions to this latest development. Overall, there seems to be this sense that Carr is making a lateral move and that he cannot win anything with the Saints. However, there are quite a few Saints fans out there who are very happy about their new QB. No matter what, this is a far cry from the days of Drew Brees. Let us know what you think of the move, in the comments below.

SOURCE SPORTS: Jarvis Landry Signs a One Year Deal With The Saints

fe

Jarvis Landry has announced that he will play for the New Orleans Saints next season, but he plans on making this year an example of why he deserves a bigger contract in the future.

Based on his stats, Landry’s 2021 represented a down year for the five-time Pro Bowler. He only played in 12 games and totaled 52 catches for 570 yards and two touchdowns, all career lows. In 2022, Landry will be out to prove those stats were a fluke. When healthy, Landry believes he is a top 10 wideout in the league.

The Saints will be looking to return to the playoffs in a wide-open NFC South division this season. Landry’s talents and leadership presence will be a welcomed addition to the Saints’ locker room. Landry should see a ton of balls thrown in his way now that he will be paired alongside Michael Thomas, a two-time All-Pro who missed all of 2021 due to injuries.

SOURCE SPORTS: Saints Resign Jameis Winston To Remain Team Starting Quarterback

FOZNX8qVsAEUPi

Jameis Winston will remain as the New Orleans Saints quarterback. Winston returns to the Saints on a two-year deal worth $28 million.

Winston was 5-2 with the Saints before suffering a season-ending torn ACL injury. Before that, Winston was on pace to have one of the best years of his career, completing 59.0% of his passes for 1,170 yards and 14 touchdowns to just three interceptions. Back in 2019, Winston led the NFL in passing yards while with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

If Winston is healthy and ready to go, all expectations are that he’ll be the Week One starter in New Orleans. If it takes Winston longer than ten months to be prepared to go, backup quarterbacks Ian Book and Blake Bortles would likely compete to start until Winston is healthy.
