MIKE DEAN Continues His Incredibly Trippy World Building With “424” LP & Short Film

MIKE DEAN is known as one of the most respected creative minds in hip-hop history. He has touched the world of rap with incredible beats, synths, and forward-thinking methods to produce truly iconic tracks. Today, he is working with artists like The Weeknd, Travis Scott, Metro Boomin, Future, Kanye West, Beyonce, and more. In fact, he had quite a fair number of production credits on Metro and Pluto’s back-to-back number albums WE DON’T TRUST YOU and WE STILL DON’T TRUST YOU. However, MIKE DEAN is looking to get his own shine with a new album 424.

This is now his fifth project and fourth entry in the 420 series. He began the saga back in April 2020 with the aptly titled 4:20. MIKE would then go on to release 4:22 in 2021 and 4:23 in 2023, respectively. Like the most recent installment, the veteran has recruited The Weeknd once again to help with production.

Listen To 424 By MIKE DEAN

Another cool part about this project is that MIKE made a similarly psychedelic short film to go along with the progressive electronic pieces he masterminded. The 13-minute video, which is on YouTube, is supposed to convey “the human experience through the eyes of a robot.” Jason Goldwatch was the director behind all of this, and he has worked with some of the greats in hip-hop as well. Make sure to check out 424 above.

Hardrock Shows Who He Is Influenced By On Sophomore LP “My Gift To You”

Up-and-coming Atlanta, Georgia rapper and auto-crooner Hardrock really was impressive on his debut album 1of1. The 2023 project flashed the youngster’s potential with incredibly dark and trippy production and unconventional, but cohesive flows. Working with producers such as BNYX and F1LTHY on that tape really helped conjure up some intriguing ideas that could be further fleshed out in the future. You can tell that he was an impressionable artist, borrowing some style cues from Young Thug, Future, Playboi Carti, among others. However, those influences might be even more apparent on this sophomore effort from Hardrock, My Gift To You.

Right from the intro track “BOBA,” Hardrock does not leave an impression in our opinion. He is sort of in the background, taking a backseat to the roughly mixed instrumental. On 1of1, “poet” was the much more interesting start, doing a bit of spoken word over some entrancing production. Unfortunately, most of the beats are not as memorable either.

Listen To My Gift To You By Hardrock

As for Hardrock, his performances range from decent to nearly straight rip-offs of Carti and Thug. He still has a lot of time to grow as an artist. Not everyone starts off with their own refined sound. But the love for the legends that have come before is a little too much. Still, give the record and listen and see what you can enjoy from it.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new album My Gift To You by Hardrock? Is this one of his better projects, why or why not? Which song did he have the strongest performance on? Bun B Drops Off Feature-Packed Project “YOKOZUNA TRILL”

Bun B is one of the premier faces of Southern hip-hop. His legacy is firmly stamped in rap lore and will forever be remembered even after he decides to hang it up. He will be/is so easily recognized for his signature gravelly delivery and witty writing. He has tons of classic projects and his influence on the genre is almost unmatched. Over the weekend, Bun B came through with a new short project called YOKOZUNA TRILL.

The UGK member is still keeping up with some of the modern rapper’s outputs, as this is his third album in the last two years. Bun B has recently been working on his Trillstatik series with legendary producer Statik Selektah. Currently, it is up to its third entry, with that one dropping right before the end of the holiday season last year. But Bun wanted to stray away from that and work on a separate project.

Listen To YOKOZUNA TRILL By Bun B

This album appears to be named after famed American-Samoan wrestler Agatupu Rodney Anoaʻi, or Yokozuna. He competed in Japan and most famously America, in the WWF (World Wrestling Federation). He portrayed a sumo wrestling champion from Japan, even though his roots are not from that country, according to Wikipedia. The origin of the album’s title appears to ring true, especially from the silhouette of massive sumo wrestler over a gorgeously painted sunset skyline. It seems Bun B is likening himself to the late dominant icon, and it makes sense. He is a true champion of making Southern hip-hop tracks and YOKOZUNA TRILL is full of gems.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new album YOKOZUNA TRILL by Bun B? Is this one of his better projects as of late, why or why not? Which song did he have the strongest performance on? 50 Cent Confirms That Dr Dre Will Produce Eminem’s New Album

The Eminem hype cycle has begun. The rapper has been quiet for nearly four years, but fans are feening for what he has to say on his upcoming album. Not just because he’s been gone for so long, but because the title of the album is, provocatively, The Death of Slim Shady. Em will be closing the book on his iconic alter ego, which means he will be bringing it back to the beginning of his career. 50 Cent popped up in the teaser video for the album to call Slim a “psychopath.” The bigger revelation came on Instagram, though, when the rapper hinted at the album’s production.

50 Cent hopped in the comment section of The Death of Slim Shady teaser to hype up fans even more. He announced that Dr Dre, the man who put both him and Em on, will be producing the album. “This sh*t got some heat on it,” he wrote. “Dre back at it!.” This is music to the ears of Eminem fans, since Dre was crucial in developing the Slim Shady persona. He produced the rapper’s breakout single, “My Name Is,” and served as an executive producer on The Slim Shady LP. He also provided beats and creative input for Em’s subsequent four releases.

Eminem Hasn’t Worked Closely With Dre In Decades

Dr. Dre has continued to work with Eminem over the years, but his involvement has lessened. He only worked on the interludes for the rapper’s most recent album, Music to Be Murdered By. He was nowhere to be found on Kamikaze, and received only an executive producer credit on Revival. 50 makes it sound like Eminem and Dre are linking back up in a more significant way than they have in decades. The two men haven’t lost any respect for each other in this time. If anything, their appreciation for each other’s abilities has grown.

Dr. Dre praised Eminem’s lyricism during a recent appearance on This Life of Mine with James Corden. He went as far as to call Em the greatest rapper of all time. “His imagination is off the charts, and I don’t think anyone would disagree with that,” he noted. “I think he’s the best MC ever. Point blank, period. I don’t think anyone that’s rapping can touch Eminem on that microphone.” It’ll be exciting to see what these two cook up for Slim Shady’s final chapter.

Lil Tecca Tour Partner Tana Drops Solo Album “BANA”

A couple of months ago, HNHH had the opportunity to speak with one of the top-flight melodic rappers in the game, Lil Tecca. During his interview with us, he spoke about his upcoming tour and who he would be bringing along with him and why he chose the artists he did. One of them shares a lot of similarities to the Queens, New York multi-hyphenate, in fact. He goes by tana, and he recently dropped his new album BANA.

Tecca said, “Why not bring some people that could you know, people that might not know who they are could hear their music. And it actually makes sense. It’s not like I’m bringing in a boom bap rapper on stage where they’re in front of a bunch of people that won’t like their music, you know, I’m trying to put people in front of people that will like it. So, it’s like a good experience for everybody. And I like their music, too. So that’s why they’re there for real.”

Listen Jeremy By Yung Bleu

“I just feel like I haven’t done [a personal album] yet and I feel like it was overdue for my fans.” Another cool tidbit from that interview was the story behind the nostalgic childhood photo that is the album’s cover art. “That was one of the images my mom just sent me one day out of nowhere. She actually inspired me to name [the album] that. Because when she sent the picture, I was just like ‘dang’ because I only got a few pictures from my childhood. That was one of the three.” Clearly this album means a lot to Yung Bleu in a lot of ways, so be sure to support the record with the links above.

Skilla Baby Has Goals To Be “The Coldest” On New Album

Skilla Baby has quickly become one of the prominent voices out of the gritty, blue-collar city of Detroit. Even though he has been on the grind since 2015, he has been really growing over the last couple of years. With songs like “Gorgeous,” “Bae,” and “Icky Vicky Vibes,” being some of his standouts, the hardcore/trap rapper is looking to expand what he can do as an artist. That is what Skilla Baby was telling AllHipHop in a recent interview about his new tape The Coldest.

“The pressure of being a new artist, being successful, staying disciplined, and still clocking into the studio is very strenuous. But fun at the same time,” Skilla said. That is certainly the mindset of a lot of climbers in the hip-hop industry. It feels like fans nowadays put a lot of the onus on the artist to blow them away.

Eminem Fan Digs Up Old Tweet Hilariously Predicting His New Album Concept

Earlier this week Eminem made a massive announcement. It came just after he appeared as a special guest at last night’s NFL draft. The draft was taking place in Detroit this year and Em joined a group of legendary Lions players on stage. He used the opportunity to simultaneously reveal the highly-anticipated follow-up to his 2020 album Music To Be Murdered By. But as it turns out the announcement wasn’t as much of a surprise to one Em fan as it was to everyone else.

Eminem announced that his new album is called The Death Of Slim Shady. While it doesn’t have an official release date or any singles yet he did tell fans to expect it this summer. With an album title like that, it seems clear that Em is attempting to put his legendary alter ego to rest on the new project. But for one fan, this all seems too familiar. X user @thoughtfulbae heard the new announcement and immediately went digging for receipts. They found a tweet from 2021 basically nailing the exact album title and explaining a potential concept behind it. Their tweet comparing the old post to the new announcement has racked up more than 30k likes already as fans can’t believe the prediction. Check out the hilarious post below.

Eminem’s New Album Was Predicted By A Fan 3 Years Ago

Eminem is continuing to be an influence on the newest generation of rap artists. Just today one of the biggest producers around, Metro Boomin, cited Em as an artist he dreamed of working with. Metro Boomin just released back to back collaborative albums with Future, both of which hit number one. That helped push Future to 10 number one albums, which puts him in a tie with Em for 4th among rappers.

What do you think of a fan predicting Eminem’s new album title and potentially even the concept three years ago? Are you looking forward to the release of The Death Of Slim Shady later this year? Let us know in the comment section below.
