Westside Gunn Hints At New Virgil Artwork For New Album

Westside Gunn is no stranger to complementing great music with extraordinary art. Whether he’s making statements through his clothing or within his music, The Fly God always puts the art at the forefront. Albeit, the Buffalo native plans to retire next year, he still has one last hoorah for the fans. Currently, the Griselda co-founder is working on the follow-up to his wildly acclaimed tape Pray for Paris. Not only that, but he also revealed on Twitter that he was putting out another project called & Then U Pray For Me. Both tapes are set to drop soon. Pray for Paris 2 releasing Friday during Fashion Week and & Then U Pray For Me dropping on June 23rd.

Furthermore, in an interview, Westside Gunn attributes his artistic journey to his relationship with close friend cultural architect Virgil Abloh. The renowned designer passed away on November 28, 2021, proceeding to a private battle with cancer. “Virgil changed my life. He was the turning point for me. I’m going to be honest, and for many reasons,” Westside Gunn told AllHipHop.com. It was Virgil who invited the rapper to Paris. Gunn was hesitant to go overseas due to his history as a hustler. He thought that once he applied for a passport, his checkered past would surface, landing him in prison. “He was like, ‘Yo, come to Paris with me.’ And I was like, I don’t know about all that, man,” The Fly God explained.

Westside Gunn Announces “Pray For Paris 2”

Nevertheless, Virgil got Westside Gunn out to Paris and helped him get a passport. Despite only communicating via text, the two met face-to-face for the first time in the City of Light. Later, after their meeting, Abloh went on to design Gunn’s album cover for Pray for Paris using Caravaggio’s David with the Head of Goliath. Once they got to the topic of the sequel the Griselda rhymer gave a few extra details.

“What people don’t know is, quiet as it’s kept, that Virgil was so ahead of his time that he had already designed s### for two to three years ahead of time,” Gunn explained. The Fly God also noted that before the cultural icon left us, he already had collections of stuff already designed. “What people don’t know about me, and Virgil, is he already designed four album covers for me,” detailed the Buffalo native. Additionally, he said, “Pray for Paris was the first one. There’s still more that we got coming.” Westside Gunn’s Pray for Paris 2 is releasing during Fashion Week with one of Virgil’s most iconic designs. Let us know if you’re ready for some new music from The Fly God below!

Summrs Displays Insane Flows On New Album “Ghost”

When it comes to the underground hip-hop world, there are plenty of great artists out right now. Overall, it almost feels like it is almost impossible to know where to start. Although mainstream audiences have yet to hear his music, it seems like he has a propensity for going viral. Moreover, he has some truly incredible producers behind him, which certainly helps his case.

He is known for melodies, wild flows, and some great vibes. All of which he brings to his latest project, Ghost.

On this project, Summrs provides fans with 21 new songs and about 50 minutes worth of music. What makes this especially impressive as he mostly handles this project by himself. Doja Cat Hints At Timeline For New Music

Doja Cat hinted that she’s planning on dropping new music within the next four weeks on Twitter, earlier this week. She did so while saying that she’s going to be logging off of social media until the lead single from her next album drops. Doja was voicing her frustration with the negative responses to her latest hairstyle.

“Saw somebody edit hair onto my head for this look i did last night and it made me mad so i wanted to let them know they should be making money instead,” Doja wrote in one post. She then added: “im also aware of the ramifications of the last tweet and that I’ll only be seeing edits of me with hair for the next 4 weeks so I’ll be logging off / deleting twitter till my lead comes out.”

Fans quickly took note of the wording of her tweets. “wait… lead coming in 4 weeks then?? GAG,” one wrote in response. Another replied: “OMG LEAD SINGLE IN 4 WEEKS.” Doja has been teasing the release of her next album for months at this point. Earlier this month, she confirmed that she’s deviating away from pop music with the new project. “No more pop,” she tweeted while replying to a fan. “Pop isn’t exciting to me anymore. I don’t wanna make it.” She also wrote that “the majority of [her] rap verses are mid and corny,” but continued, “I know they are. I wasn’t trying to prove anything, I just enjoy making music. But I’m getting tired of hearing y’all say that I can’t [make rap music] so I will.”

The new project will be Doja’s Cat’s fourth studio album, following the release of Planet Her in 2021. While collaborations for the new album haven’t been announced, her last effort featured Young Thug, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, JID, and SZA. Be on the lookout for more information regarding Doja Cat’s next album over the course of the next four weeks.

Mike Dean Drops “4:23,” Executive Produced By The Weeknd

Earlier this week, Mike Dean announced that his new album 4:23 was dropping soon. The album is the third in his numbered series, following 2020’s 4:20 and 2021’s 4:22. Dean is a famed hip-hop record producer who has worked with the biggest names in the industry. Among his clients are Beyonce, Drake, Kanye West, Kid Cudi, Madonna, Lana Del Rey, and more. He has also worked extensively with The Weeknd, including playing a part in the star’s new collab with Future, “Double Fantasy.” The single is from the soundtrack from Abel’s new HBO show, The Idol. As such, it is likely that Mike Dean also played a hand in producing the rest of the soundtrack with The Weeknd. “There’s a whole album. I’m not shying away from making music. It’s just adding another element to my already crowded schedule,” Abel said of the new soundtrack.

In order to announce the new album from Mike Dean, Abel took to social media. “New @therealmikedean 4:23 album co-executive produced by me dropping this week,” The Weeknd tweeted. Very few details about the album were revealed before its release. Being that it was announced just several days beforehand, it’s no surprise.

Mike Dean’s Wonderland of Dreamy Synths

On 4:23, Mike Dean welcomes you into his weird, dreamy world of analog synths. Even as far as electronic music goes, much of this album is not for the faint of heart. The Weeknd has some great guest vocal spots, but much of it is simply synthesizer madness. There are some standouts, however, particularly on some of the songs with Abel. Perhaps the best song on the album is “Artificial Intelligence.” It would fit very well into The Weeknd’s oeuvre, so it makes a lot of sense that he features on it.

“You can have me on my knees / Like I was about to break / Idolizin’ at your feet / Know that you are so far away,” Abel sings on the track. “I will travel overseas / Join hearts in another place / I’ll do all to compete / Emotionless.” He gives a very strong, emotional performance over Mike Dean’s space production. The album does lose its way at certain points, but there will always be plenty of good production to reel listeners back in. “118k” is one of the weaker tracks, but the distorted, weaponized feedback that comes on immediately after in “Earth To Michael” makes it impossible to stop listening.

Tracklist:

  1. Once Upon a Time
  2. Artificial Intelligence
  3. Defame Moi
  4. More Coke!!
  5. Music for the Future
  6. Rewind Life
  7. Goodbye Earth
  8. Hello Space
  9. Mechanical Tarantula
  10. 118k
  11. Earth To Michael
  12. Emotionless
  13. Electric Sheep

“Jackman”: Jack Harlow Is The “Hardest White Boy” Since Eminem, He Says On New Album

Jack Harlow’s sophomore effort, Come Home The Kids Miss You arrived in 2022 to mixed reviews. Thankfully, he seems to have remedied that with his latest work, which landed today (April 28) in the form of a 10-track album called Jackman. While he worked with names like Pharrell Williams, Drake, and Justin Timberlake on his second project, this time around the Kentucky native opted to go the featureless route, though he did include one particularly noteworthy comparison to Eminem.

As Complex notes, the White Men Can’t Jump actor has previously cited Slim Shady as a major influence of his. “I grew up listening to Eminem,” he told GQ in a 2020 interview. “I idolized Eminem, big influence of mine while growing up. I mean he’s so dope. But also obviously… I remember when I was ten or eleven, I would wear like a toboggan, and hoodie and headphones around my neck. Cause I wanted to feel like him.” Clearly, Harlow now does feel like the 8 Mile star, as he let us know on “They Don’t Love It.”

Jack Harlow Compares Himself to Eminem on “They Don’t Love It”

“Ya boy’s strivin’ to be the most dominant ever / The hardest white boy since the one who rapped about vomit and sweaters,” the 25-year-old spits on his new album’s second title. “And hold the comments ’cause I promise you I’m honestly better than whoever came to your head right then, ” his braggadocious bars continue. “They ain’t cut from the same thread like him / They don’t study, doin’ work to get ahead like him / They don’t toss and turn in the f*ckin’ bed like him.”

In 2021, Jack Harlow connected with Eminem on the “Killer” remix with Cordae. Though they didn’t get to meet, the younger lyricist said that they shared a phone call which “meant the world to [him].” He added, “He gave me a lot of props that any artist would love to get. Sometimes, the best gem is just somebody you admire, letting you know who you think you are,” while speaking with Billboard at the 2021 MTV VMAs. What’s your favourite track from Jackman? Tee Grizzley & Skilla Baby Deliver The Goods On “Controversy”

Tee Grizzley has been one of the best artists to come out of Detroit in the last few years. Overall, he has provided fans with a plethora of great projects and songs. His flow is something that you cannot dispute. Although there are plenty of people who have tried to steal it, Tee has remained a unique artist. Moreover, he is always working with other great artists from his home city. He loves to put on for Detroit, and that is certainly true whenever he works with Skilla Baby. In fact, the two have just teamed up on a new album.

Detroit rap fans have been waiting on this project for a minute. However, they have finally come through with it on Controversy. Overall, this is a project that had a considerable amount of hype around it. Now that it is out, fans finally have the opportunity to give all 12 tracks a listen. In fact, there are about 30 minutes’ worth of music here, which is definitely a solid amount. Not to mention, there are no features here, which means Tee Grizzley and Skilla Baby carry the whole tape.

Tee Grizzley Speaks On Skilla Baby

Throughout this project, Tee Grizzley and Skilla Baby trade bars and display a ton of amazing chemistry. Furthermore, they have some pretty hilarious bars. The first line of the album makes reference to their opps and Obamacare, which is too good not to at least chuckle at. The beats sound great here as well, and at the end of the day, it is a project that you can’t go wrong with.

Overall, this project is a lot of fun, and comes right in time for those warmer months. We’re sure we will be hearing from Tee Grizzley and Skilla Baby again, sometime soon. Jack Harlow Releases New Album, “Jackman”

Jack Harlow is gearing up for a film debut just a month after the release of his last album. The rapper-turned-actor will appear in the new Hulu remake of the classic film White Men Can’t Jump. As such, it makes for an unexpected but fitting time for him to announce a surprise album titled Jackman. Harlow only announced the album a few days ago, so there was very little information before it dropped. We knew nothing. There was no information about the album’s production, features, tracklist, or even vague themes. His last album, Come Home The Kids Miss You, was not received so well. Perhaps the reason Harlow decided to keep things under wraps is that he didn’t want to deal with expectations.

This week, Jack Harlow has been giving back to fans quite a bit. More specifically, he’s been giving back to fans that live in his native Louisville. Harlow was spotted at 8 different high schools on Thursday. He surprised fans in an effort to promote his new album. The students seemed stunned to see him. They were able to take pictures with the rapper and even had some time to hang out with him. It makes sense that Harlow would want to do something like this on the eve of his new album’s release. He’s returning to his roots for an album that feels very human and very real.

Jack Harlow Gets Real

One thing is for certain – this album definitely does not have any “First Class”-style songs on it. It does run extremely short with 10 songs coming in at only 25 minutes long. However, anybody who wanted something that felt extremely authentic from the rapper will be very pleased with the new release. Every song feels dreamy but the lyrics keep it grounded. He speaks on many important topics like white privilege, race relations, the realities of fame, and even finding out that your friends are horrible people.

One of the most surprisingly honest songs on the album is the opening track, “Common Ground.” As a white rapper, Jack Harlow is often set apart from his contemporaries by rap fans. However, the rapper speaks very openly about the realities of white privilege and obsession with black culture in white suburbia. “White girls squattin’ tryna get that a*s poppin’ / Caught back-talkin’ to their mom and dads often,” Harlow raps. “Recitin’ rap lyrics about murder and cash profit / Get to feel like a thug but don’t have to act on it.” It’s a refreshing look at the lack of “common ground” between communities and how one community’s culture is co-opted, dissected, and copied by the masses.

Quotable Lyrics:

Business interns takin’ Molly, then Percs
Tramplin’ on top of bodies in dirt
Condesendin’ suburban kids growin’ up to be rap journalists
Writin’ urban myths about who they think is the best urban kid
And who the worst is
And who’s authentic
And what the real Hip-Hop is, and who’s all in it

R-Mean Drops “MEAN” Album With Features From Nas, Quavo, YG, & More

R-Mean is an Armenian American rapper who has been thriving in the independent lane. Overall, being independent can prove to be quite difficult for a lot of people. After all, it is oftentimes harder to find resources or to connect with the biggest artists. However, the artist has certainly defied those odds on numerous occasions. He has been able to manifest a ton of amazing features over the years. This includes Nas who was featured on his most recent single, “Candle of the Devil.” Now, R-Mean is back, this time with a 15-track album, entirely produced by Scott Storch.

If that wasn’t impressive enough, R-Mean was subsequently able to secure a plethora of other great features. If you were to run through the tracklist, you would see names like Nas, Offset, Angel Hill, YG, DB Bantino, Quavo, Kabaka Pyramid, Method Man, Jeremih, and even French Montana. Although some may say this is too many features, R-Mean brings it all together in a cohesive fashion.

R-Mean Delivers His Best Work Yet

To help promote this new release, R-Mean also dropped a new music video for the song “YESSIR” with Quavo. Overall, it is a great music video, and this appears to be the perfect song for the summer months. Moreover, on tracks like “Lonely Day,” R-Mean is inspired by his Armenian roots thanks to a System Of A Down cover. This merging of styles goes over incredibly well, and if you love that era of nu-metal, you will agree.

If there is one thing for certain about this album, it’s that R-Mean holds his own with these artists. He sounds amazing and focused throughout, and his fans are going to enjoy this quite a bit. Let us know what you think of MEAN, in the comments section below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world.

Jack Harlow Roasted Online For Shirtless Album Cover

Jack Harlow is one of those artists that is either loved or hated. For the most part, Harlow gets a lot of love. Although, his latest album left some people feeling as though he didn’t put his best foot forward. Overall, Harlow has a ton of talent, and he has gone through some interesting transformations. If you listened to him before he blew up, you would know that his sound was quite different. Some want him to go back to that sound, while his new fans prefer what he is doing now. No matter what, he remains a chart-topping artist.

Consequently, fans have been wanting some new music. Interestingly enough, Jack Harlow came out of nowhere today and revealed that he had a new album coming out called Jackman. He hasn’t released a lead single, so this revelation came as a surprise. However, in just two days, we will have some new music from Jack Harlow, which is a cause for celebration. As for the album cover, Harlow could be seen in an alley somewhere with trash cans in the back. Additionally, he is shirtless on the cover.

Jack Harlow Reveals His Album Cover

As you can imagine, the shirtless picture that is his album cover has become quite controversial. Already, there have been a ton of reactions to it on social media. One user wrote, “man just used a random shirtless picture as an album cover? I’m streaming anyways.” However, not everyone is being as nice about it. “The trash behind being a preview of what the album will sound like,” another person said. Meanwhile, another fan questioned, “worst album cover of all time?”

Needless to say, a lot of the reactions so far have been very harsh. However, this is par for the course when it comes to Twitter. Most people aren’t very nice when it comes to the Internet. That said, it will be interesting to see what this album will sound like. Let us know what your expectations are for this Jack Harlow project, in the comments section below.
