Jack Harlow Pairs With A Fitting Fast Food Chain To Offer Tornado Relief To His Devastated Hometown

Over the weekend, the central part of the US was hit with an absolutely massive storm. Devastating tornadoes hit the ground in parts of Illinois, Arkansas, and Kentucky, with the ladder state seeing some significant damage. Buildings were leveled and it’s been predicted that the storms left over 70 people dead in Kentucky alone. As someone who’s always showed love for his Kentucky homestate, Jack Harlow is rushing to the rescue to provide tornado relief by partnering with the most fitting fast food chain.

Harlow and KFC announced a new partnership this week which saw him smacking on huge buckets of fried chicken. But on a more serious note, the rapper wants to give back to those affected by the storms this weekend. Together, Harlow and KFC will be donating a quarter of a million dollars to the Kentucky Red Cross.

Announcing the partnership, Harlow wrote:

“Growing up I always dreamed of being the biggest artist to come from Kentucky. Now I’m teaming up with @KFC, the biggest brand to come out of Kentucky. For the next year, we’re gonna do some big things together.

It couldn’t come at a better time, as the state needs our help more than ever in the wake of this past weekend’s devastating tornadoes. Together we will be donating $250k to the @americanredcross in support of relief efforts. I ask that you donate whatever you can to help those affected by this tragedy.”

A New Study Finds That Logic’s ‘1-800-273-8255’ Actually May Have Prevented Suicides

For as much flak as Logic took — and probably still takes — for his earnest 2017 suicide prevention anthem “1-800-273-8255,” it turns out that the song was actually pretty effective in its stated purpose, according to a study in The BMJ (British Medical Journal). While correlation by no means equals causation, the study found that during three key periods of the song’s popularity, suicide rates among 10- to 19-year-olds in the US dropped by 5.5 percent. A corresponding model of the same time periods in different years shows that this comes out to about 245 fewer suicides.

The three periods examined included the first 34 days after the song’s release, after Logic’s 2017 MTV VMAs performance, and after his 2018 Grammy Awards performance. The study also found that the number of calls made to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, from which the song takes its title, rose by 6.9 percent, or 9,915 more calls than usual — something that was reported previously but bears repeating.

The study’s author, Thomas Niederkrotenthaler, an associate professor in the department of social and preventive medicine at the Medical University of Vienna, Austria, told CNN, “Celebrities but also non-celebrities can have an important role in suicide prevention if they communicate about how they have coped with crisis situations and suicidal ideation.” Meanwhile, Logic himself seemed pretty enthused about the analysis, saying, “To know that my music was actually affecting people’s lives, truly, that’s what inspired me to make the song. We did it from a really warm place in our hearts to try to help people. And the fact that it actually did — that blows my mind.”

Lil Uzi Vert’s Insurance Tried To ‘Cut Him Off’ Over His Pink Diamond Forehead Piercing

Lil Uzi Vert caused quite the stir last year when he debuted his new forehead piercing. Containing a pink diamond that allegedly ran him $24 million, the implant prompted concerns about its safety, as well as hilarious memes comparing him to Avengers android Vision. After the jeweler allayed those fears, folks settled down and chalked the new accessory up to one of the avant-garde rapper’s many eccentricities. However, one instution wasn’t too excited about the addition: his insurance company.

“My insurance tried to cut me off,” he admitted on the Scuffed podcast. “They were like, ‘This kid’s trying to kill himself.’ They really were. Because we knew it was a piercing, my insurance looked at it like, ‘Okay, this kid just implanted this diamond in his head. He’s gonna die.’”

In order to keep his insurance, he said, he had to get the jeweler to explain how the accessory actually worked. “I really had to call the piercing person and show them low-key everything, like, it’s literally a piercing.” He further explained that he’d actually taken the gem out because “it was pretty heavy. It was like ripping my forehead, so I had to let it re-heal.”

Meanwhile, he nearly had to cash in any policies he had on the diamond itself recently, after nearly losing it during a stage diving incident.

Cardi B Is Planning To Finally Drop Her Long-Awaited Second Album In 2022

The wait for Cardi B’s second album has been a long one, as Invasion Of Privacy dropped all the way back in 2018. The pandemic has resulted in numerous delays, but now, Cardi says she intends to release her long-awaited album in 2022.

In a 14-minute video Cardi shared on Instagram yesterday, she updates her fans on a few things, like how busy her life has been lately. Part of that is thanks to working on her new album to have it ready for next year, as she said, “Everything be looking so glamorous when you see my f*cking Instagram and everything, but it’s been really… it’s been a lot. It’s been a lot trying to balance out my new motherf*cking life. I got two kids, my daughter’s going to school now, and I have, like, a lot of jobs now. I’m in a lot of positions and that requires a lot of my time, and on top of that, I gotta put out this album next year. Not only do I gotta put out an album, but I gotta record a movie, I gotta do so much sh*t, y’all.”

Despite not having a new LP in a while, Cardi has done a terrific job at remaining present and relevant, as she had a No. 1 single this year with “Up” and another in 2020 with “WAP.”

DaBaby’s Return To Rolling Loud Was Marred By Fans Throwing Drinks At Him

As if any more proof was needed that “cancel culture” isn’t real, DaBaby made his return to the Rolling Loud stage this past weekend at Rolling Loud California in San Bernardino. However, it wasn’t quite the triumphant comeback he and the festival’s organizers had perhaps envisioned. It seems that despite being welcomed back by the event’s producers with open arms, DaBaby wasn’t the fan favorite he’d been in previous years.

Fan videos posted to social media apparently captured the less-the-positive reception DaBaby received when his set was time was changed at the last minute on Sunday. Although he’d been scheduled to hit the Power 106 stage at 10:30, for some reason, he was moved to the Ciroc stage, where Future was billed to headline (Future apparently went on later). Whether it was his last-minute appearance that set them off — fans are notoriously fickle, as Drake learned at Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival in LA two years ago — or a reaction to the comments he made at his prior Rolling Loud appearance in Miami that got him in hot water, to begin with, is anyone’s guess.

However, you can clearly see bottles flying at the Charlotte rapper from the audience. While it isn’t the worst thing fans have thrown at him, it’s clear he isn’t held in as much esteem by rap fans — although, as he points out in the video, he’s still far from being “canceled.”

FKA Twigs And The Weeknd Are Gearing Up To Release Their Upcoming Song, ‘Tears In The Club’

FKA Twigs has been hard at work on her upcoming third album, which remains untitled at the moment. Back in September, during a conversation with fans on Discord, she teased a “capri season take over,” and assuming that she means Capricorn season, it suggests that something special could arrive between December 22, 2021 and January 19, 2022. As it happens, Twigs recently announced a new collaboration that is set to arrive at the end of the week, namely the song “Tears In The Club,” which pairs her with The Weeknd.

“Are u ready for capri sun takeover??” Twigs wrote in a tweet. “Us capri babies be so cute and prolific but don’t cross us cause we never ever forget.” The announcement falls in line with her earlier comments on Discord. During that conversation, she also revealed what listeners can expect with her next body of work.

“It’s really deep emotional and honest but hopefully more golden tears than blue i channelled my melancholy differently this time and it was so amazing,” Twigs said. “I made my next project thinking about all of u and my friends it’s for getting ready and going out to and being with people who make u feel good, turnt litty bronzer in the sink shimmer on the bathroom floor.” She also said that the project will feature work from Koreless, El Guincho, Cirkut, Mike Dean, Arca, and “lots beautiful others to be revealed soon and some stun and special collabs.”

“Tears in the Club” will be released on December 16 at 7pm EST.

Kim Kardashian Reportedly Claims She Has ‘No Desire To Reconcile’ With Ye After Their Divorce

Ye has been trying his best to win back his ex-wife Kim Kardashian after she filed for divorce back in February. His latest efforts occurred during the Larry Hoover benefit concert, which he held with Drake. He added new lyrics to his 2011 track “Runaway,” rapping, “I need you to run right back, baby, more specifically, Kimberly.” Unfortunately for Ye, such efforts don’t appear to be working, as Kardashian recently filed to be legally single, according to documents obtained by Rolling Stone.

The filing also reveals how Kardashian perceived the end of their relationship. “There is no question that the marriage of the parties is no longer viable,” the documents read. “Petitioner has no desire to reconcile with Respondent and wants their marriage terminated. Irreconcilable differences have led to the irremediable breakdown of the marriage, and there is no possibility of saving the marriage through counseling or other means.”

It continues, “There will be no prejudice to Respondent if our marriage is immediately dissolved, especially given the fact that throughout our marriage, we adhered to the terms of our premarital agreement and maintained the separate property character of our assets.”

The new filing comes after Kardashian credited Ye with helping her interest in fashion during a speech she gave when she won the Fashion Icon Award at the 2021 People’s Choice Awards.

Idles Release The ‘When The Lights Come On’ Video In Nightvision

Bristol-based post-punk band Idles released Crawler, their fourth album, last month and it has kept them at the top of the ranks of the UK punk scene’s resurgence. Co-produced by Idles guitarist Mark Bowen and the typically hip-hop focused Kenny Beats, the album is furious, filled with caustic music that wants to pierce your chest plate and punch you in the heart. Breakneck bass and drums pair with singer Joe Talbot’s metaphysical lyrics. Uproxx’s Steven Hyden sums it up by writing that “This kind of music is so heightened that is bound to elicit equally charged reactions. Some will hear it as rousing and even potentially life-changing music; others will find it strident to the point of irritation.”

It’s not always easy to listen to, but it’s pure and is clearly a vessel for seeking greater truths about ourselves. Enter the video for “When The Lights Come on,” filmed in nightvision and sending up suburbia. Talbot calls the song a “poem of light and sound exploring the cold light of day.”

Idles are playing New Year’s Eve with The Strokes in Brooklyn and then are going off on a headlining tour through Europe, South America, and a range of music festivals from there. See full dates and get tickets here.

Crawler is out now via Partisan Records. You can watch the video above.

When the new game GTA Online: The Contract debuts later this week, it will feature Dr. Dre and Anderson .Paak as characters. But there’s more. On the Big Boy-hosted “Radio Los Santos,” Schoolboy Q will be premiering the new track “Let’s Get It.” There’s also new and unheard songs from Freddie Gibbs, Mozzy, YG, Tia Corine, Offset, and more. DJ Pooh’s “West Coast Classics” station is also set to feature a career-spanning Dr. Dre playlist. Leimert Park’s Dam-Funk is behind the games overall g-funk-soaked score.
