It was just a few weeks ago that Drake released his latest album, For All The Dogs. He’s not taking the rest of 2023 off, though: Today (November 16), he announced that Scary Hours 3 is set for release tomorrow, November 17. In the hours leading up to the new project, let’s run down everything we know about it so far.

Scary Hours 3 Release Date

Scary Hours 3 is out 11/17 via OVO/Republic.

Scary Hours 3 Tracklist

The Scary Hours 3 tracklist has not yet been revealed. Worth noting, though, is that Scary Hours featured two songs while Scary Hours 2 had three tracks, so Scary Hours 3 may have a similar length.

Scary Hours 3 Features

It is not currently known if any featured artists will appear on Scary Hours 3. In the trailer announcing the project, though, it was revealed that Noel Cadastre, Drake, and Kevin Durant are executive producers.

The project does not yet have a confirmed album cover. Multiple social media accounts have shared what is supposedly the official Scary Hours 3 artwork, but the image is actually a fan creation from 2022.

On October 6, Drake released For All The Dogs, his eighth album. He could have easily just taken the rest of 2023 off to relax and plot his 2024. Instead, he’s ending the year with yet another bang: Early this morning (November 16), Drake shared a trailer for Scary Hours 3, which is set to release at midnight tomorrow, November 17.

In a video captioned “Scary Hours 3, Tonight at Midnight,” there’s some nighttime footage of a city before Drake enters a theater and watches an orchestra perform. At the end of the clip, a program pamphlet is shown, which notes that Scary Hours 3 is executive produced by Noel Cadastre, Drake, and Kevin Durant.

In a voiceover, Drake says:

“I’ll say this to you: I’m not… I feel no need to appease anybody. I feel so confident about the body of work that I just dropped that I know I could go and disappear for, whatever, six months, a year, two years — even though I’m not really, like, into [laughs] I’m not really into the super lengthy disappearances for the sake of mystery, but… you know, ultimately, it’s coming to me in a way that I haven’t experienced maybe since, like, If You’re Reading This, where it’s just kind of like, I feel like I’m on drugs. I feel like I’m in that mental state without doing anything. I did those songs in the last five days. I didn’t have one bar written down for those songs on the night that For All The Dogs dropped. It’s not like I’m picking up from some unfinished sh*t, you know, this is just… it’s happening on its own. And, you know, who am I to fight it, right? And to fight back against the right thing would be… you know.”

Drake is one of the biggest artists in the entire world. Overall, he just came out with an album called For All The Dogs which as you can imagine, became a chart-topper. However, he told the world that he would be taking some sort of break. After delivering so much music, it only makes sense that he would be ready to pack it in for a bit. Well, he immediately went back on that by revealing that he would go on tour with J. Cole. Subsequently, he is coming through with a small EP for the people.

Last night, Drake took to social media where he revealed that tomorrow, fans will be getting Scary Hours 3. The popular EP series has boasted some incredible tracks over the years. Consequently, the hype for this new collection is real. Moreover, he dropped a trailer to the EP which features a dramatic voice-over. If one thing is for certain, it is that Drizzy is not messing around right now. He wants everyone to know he is coming correct.

Drake Has Something New On The Way

Eazy-E Dedicated His Life To Compton, So The City Is Finally Repaying Him With A Street Named In His Honor

In January 2020, Ice Cube stopped by Uproxx‘s People’s Party With Talib Kweli and discussed the backstory of the late Eazy-E’s “Boyz N The Hood.” Cube explained that the song was originally meant for a New York-based group named Homeboys Only, but it wasn’t a lyrical fit, so “[Dr.] Dre convinced Eazy to do it.”

But Eazy-E never needed convincing to stump for Compton, California, his hometown that was put on the map by him, Cube, and the rest of N.W.A. Now Compton will make Eazy-E’s relationship to Compton tangibly and permanently inextricable.

According to several Los Angeles-based outlets, such as ABC7 and KTLA, the 100 block of Auto Drive South, located on Alameda Street and runs into the Gateway Towne Center shopping plaza, will be renamed Eazy Street.

Per The Los Angeles Times, “A block party will be held at the street on November 22 to celebrate the moment with performances and appearances from the ‘Boyz-n-the-Hood’ rapper’s children and his former collaborators.” The paper also noted that Compton City Council previously voted unanimously to rename the street in September.

Eazy-E passed away in March 1995 at just 30 years old. Mere days prior he had publicly disclosed his AIDS diagnosis.

“My dad loved where he was from,” Eazy-E’s daughter, Erica Wright, said in a statement, as per The Los Angeles Times. “Nothing could keep him from Compton. Nothing could keep his parents from Compton. This will forever be a highlight in my life.”

Eazy-E’s son, Eric Darnell Wright Jr. added, “The street naming serves as a symbol of recognition and commemoration, ensuring that our father […] has a legacy that will be remembered and celebrated for generations to come.”

This is far from the first preservation of Eazy-E’s legacy. In March 2017, for example, N.W.A.’s Straight Outta Compton was selected for preservation in the National Recording Registry in the Library of Congress.

A smiling Keke Palmer was a welcomed sight on Wednesday, November 15, when she announced that she will host BET’s Soul Train Awards 2023.

“Hey, Keke Palmer here, and I have an announcement that I can’t hold anymore,” the actress and singer said in a video posted across BET’s social media channels. “BET asked yo’ girl to host this year’s Soul Train Awards! And you know it’s about to be lit, grown, sexy, real cute, or whatever — unlike any other because I’m doing it my way.”

She continued, “And I’m doing it from my fabulous, big ol’ house in the Hollywood Hills, so while the guest list is exclusive, I’m letting the cameras in so you can help me celebrate the most soulful party of the year. Get your Keke-tinis ready, and turn up with me on Sunday, November 26, at 8 p.m. EST/7 p.m. CST on BET. Period.”

According to BET, this year’s nomination field is led by Summer Walker, SZA, and Usher with nine nods apiece. The network has also confirmed performances by Palmer, BJ The Chicago Kid, Coco Jones, Danté Bowe, Fridayy, Muni Long, SWV.

This positive news from Palmer comes one week after the likes of People, TMZ, and US Weekly reported that Palmer had filed for a domestic violence restraining order against her ex, Darius Jackson, as well as for full custody of their son, Leodis. As per Rolling Stone on November 10, “a judge has granted Keke Palmer temporary sol e custody” of the eight-month-old.

On November 11, People exclusively reported more details.

“She gave him a lot of chances to do the right thing,” an unnamed source told the publication. “Keke tried so hard to have an amicable split and arrangement [custody]. […] She needed to prioritize her safety and the safety of her baby. She wants the best for Leo. She did not want it to get to this point. But she did what she had to do.”

Drake Further Tied Himself To Michael Jackson In His ‘First Person Shooter’ Video, The Song That Tied A Michael Jackson Record

Drake received backlash when For All The Dogs dropped in early October. One of his strategies was to rely on the receipts he’s kept of people initially hating his now-beloved 2011 album, Take Care. His For All The Dogs track “First Person Shooter,” featuring J. Cole, gave him a new receipt to deploy upon hates, as it became his 13th-career No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 — tying him with Michael Jackson for the most-ever Hot 100 No. 1s by a male solo artist. Drake flexed on that fact in the newly dropped video for “First Person Shooter,” directed by Gibson Hazard.

The last minute of the five-minute masterpiece finds Drake on the roof of what is later revealed to be “October’s Very Own Arena,” which is Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena temporary rebranded name for Drake’s hometown It’s All A Blur Tour shows. He does Jackson’s signature spin move to correspond with his “Beat It” reference as he raps, “N****s talkin’ ’bout when this gon’ be repeated / What the f*ck, bro? I’m one away from Michael / N***a, beat it, n***a, beat it, what?”

As pointed out by Camilla Ruud on X (formerly known as Twitter), Drake also had the floor light up below him, à la Jackson’s video for “Billie Jean.” After Drake completes his spin, he’s wearing an MJ glove and jacket.

As pointed out above, the song in which he rapped about being “one away from Michael” ironically became the one that tied him with Michael. The hook of “First Person Shooter” also spawned the title of Drake and J. Cole’s newly announced joint 2024 tour, It’s All A Blur Tour — Big As The What?

2 Chainz Reveals Why Dr. Dre Was His Most Difficult Collaborator

During his recent appearance on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast, 2 Chainz opened up about some of his previous collaborators. According to him, Dr. Dre was the toughest. He noted that while it was a “great experience,” he was incredibly meticulous, pushing him to do multiple takes until everything was perfect.

“I was trying to explain to Dr. Dre that a southern Black kid with an overbite is gonna sound different than a suburban white kid from Detroit,” 2 Chainz recalled. “We’re gonna enunciate stuff different. He be like, ‘Nah, say it like this.’ It was such a great experience.” He continued, explaining how he got fed up. “And he wants me to stack it. I might do one pass just my voice… He like, ‘Stack it again.’ I’m not good at saying the same thing the same way… ‘Damn, this is five times. I don’t normally [do this].’ I could be on another song at my own studio.”

2 Chainz On Working With Dr. Dre

Ultimately, 2 Chainz noted that Dr. Dre didn’t get to where he is for no reason. He also claims that the artist’s extra attention to detail is what ensures his success, adding that the session was something he had hoped would happen at some point in his life. “I get why he is where he is. He pays special attention to detail. He don’t go for the first thing that come up,” 2 Chainz described, “He really cares.”

“If I had to really zero down on the experience where the producer was literally sitting right here while I was trying to do my song, it would be Dr. Dre… I needed that experience, that was something on my bucket list,” he added. The interview revealed Leray’s frustration with the lyrics. This isn’t the first time she’s spoken on it either. “It’s not a sensitive conversation,” Coi Leray told Ebro on Apple Music in June. “I feel like it wasn’t more about the body, it was more of mentioning my name. I’m about positivity. For real. And I wasn’t sure where it was coming from. And not only that, I feel like the problem with our community today is we be so quick to try to change things but we don’t do nothing to actually change anything.”
