Kanye West’s album rollouts have a reputation for being tumultuous, and so far, Vultures is no exception. Just a few weeks ago it seemed as though we wouldn’t be getting the joint project at all, but more recently, a tracklist landed online, complete with the long-awaited “New Body” and several other titles we can’t wait to hear. Ahead of his listening party on Tuesday (December 12), Ye has been out and about in Miami with his wife, Bianca Censori, and other close friends for Art Basel. The father of four was wandering around sans shoes when cameras caught up with him over the weekend, and he certainly made his presence felt during his surprise appearance with DJ Khaled at LIV Miami on Sunday (December 10).
As TMZ reports, rather than just sticking to his most recent arrivals, West went back in time to perform throwback favourites for his audience. Among them were MBDTF‘s “Runaway,” and Graduation‘s “Can’t Tell Me Nothing,” both of which had the venue rapping along. Even after being cancelled and condemned by the public all through 2022, the 46-year-old still knows how to charm a crowd.
Elsewhere in Miami, Ye stopped by a local Jamaican restaurant where he rapped “Father Stretch My Hands” along with others dining at the hot spot. Earlier in the weekend, the father of four previewed some upcoming releases at the same joint, including a recently teased track with an iconic (albeit surprising) Backstreet Boys sample. With the Vultures listening event less than 48 hours away, we can’t wait to hear what else Yeezy and Ty Dolla Sign have been cooking up for us.

Blueface is primarily a rapper, but what you probably know him best for is all the drama surrounding his relationships. Moreover, he’s always done a great job, for better or worse, of capitalizing on this interest and building a brand off of it. The California MC just partnered with the Zeus Network, who are behind Baddies and many other series, for a new rap game show called Rap Queens West. In a new promotional video that spoofs Mr. Rogers, he explains that they’re looking for female rappers to audition in this new hip-hop game show. One lucky winner will walk away with a $1 million deal with Blue’s label MILF Music, courtesy of them and Zeus.

One of Young Thug’s co-defendants has been stabbed in jail, leading to a recess in the rapper’s ongoing RICO trial in Atlanta, according to Meghann Cuniff. Judge Ural Glanville explained the reason for the delay in court on Monday as a “medical issue.”
“We had a medical issue come up with one of our participants. So I’m going to have to recess for the day. These things happen. We’ll come back tomorrow morning at 9:00.” He added that they’ll “see how things go at that point in time and we’ll take the week as it comes.”

Thug’s latest day in court comes after Kanye West previewed new music featuring the rapper in Miami on Sunday evening. The unreleased song is expected to be featured on the tracklist for Ye’s new album with Ty Dolla Sign, Vultures, which is dropping on Friday.

Rich The Kid recently stayed at the SLS Hotel in South Beach, Miami, where he faced a bizarre and rebellious arrest. Moreover, when he arrived at the building on Sunday night during Art Basel festivities, he found that police surrounded the perimeter, as the responded to an active bomb threat. Thus, no one could enter, and the “Big Pimpin” rapper told officers that he had to reach his hotel room. They maintained that no one could enter while they searched the premises and investigated the threat, and he would have to wait until they finished. But the Queens native wasn’t having it, even after police told him they would arrest him if he tried to get in.
Allegedly, according to what law enforcement told TMZ, he responded to their warning with, “I’ll bond out in 20 minutes.” Then, Rich The Kid went to another corner of the hotel, where the officers he met told him basically the same thing. According to their testimony, he challenged them with, “Stop me,” and jumped the fence. When the “Still Movin’” MC entered SLS, he met a K-9 unit who instructed him to leave, but he refused. Instead, he loitered in the driveway, and police then arrested him and took him in on two misdemeanor charges: trespassing and resisting an officer without violence.

However, this isn’t all that Rich The Kid has to deal with when it comes to being accountable for his actions. During a recent interview with The Shade Room, he reflected on his cheating scandal with fiancée Tori Brixx, for which he had publicly apologized. “I’m fighting for my family,” the 31-year-old shared. “Got to go hard for what you want. She definitely is my family. We been together for, like, six years. I definitely see myself with her for the rest of my life, I’d be a fool to do anything else.”
Meanwhile, the couple came together since then, and seem to be in a much better place. As of writing this article, he doesn’t seem to have addressed this recent arrest on social media. Beyonce’s Renaissance concert film took a steep tumble at the box office with its second week in theaters. The documentary suffered a 75% drop in earnings and is only projected to take in $5.6 million. It had debuted the week before with $21.8 million, making history for the first weekend in December.
Instead of Renaissance, Hayao Miyazaki’s newest anime film, The Boy and the Heron, led the way with $12.8 million in its opening weekend. In doing so, it became the first original anime production to top the domestic box office. Other releases from last weekend include Poor Things, which pulled in $644,000 from just nine theaters. It’s $72,000 marks the best per-theater average of the fall awards season.

Despite the success being short-lived, Beyonce celebrated Renaissance: A Film By Beyonce’s spot atop the box office charts in a statement on Instagram, last week. “I am so deeply thankful to AMC and every team member who worked so hard on this film,” Beyonce began. “I just can’t thank all of you enough for your support. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done because of the short turn around time. I practically slept in the edit, color, and mix sessions. The race against time continued in order to get this film out so quickly. But it was so worth all the grind. I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of love from my Hive. And WOW! I am so touched and encouraged by the incredible reviews!!!”
She continued: “While I’m often critical and feel my art is never finished, the pendulum swings. I feel gratitude. ‘We did it.’ We have the #1 movie in the country! Travis Scott has been having himself a nice year. Overall, a lot of this has to do with the release of his album Utopia. The last time we had heard a full-length LP from him was back in 2018 with Astroworld. Consequently, there were a lot of people wanting something fresh. In the end, Scott gave them just that and it turned out to be a huge win for him. While the album has been a bit polarizing, there is no doubt that he is getting a lot of praise from the die-hard stans out there.
Now, Scott is on the Circus Maximus Tour. This tour is taking him all throughout North America. It is an arena tour of epic proportions, and there have been some phenomenal performances thus far. Over the weekend, Scott was in Philadelphia. Overall, there are some phenomenal artists from Philly, including Lil Uzi Vert. Scott has worked with them in the past, particularly on the song “Aye” which is on The Pink Tape. This is a great song, and it is one that would perform well at a concert. Having said that, the fans in Philly were given quite the treat.
In the video above, you can see Travis Scott performing with Lil Uzi Vert, who came out during the song “Aye.” Of course, the entire crowd was ecstatic to see the hometown hero pop out. It is not every single day that you get to see such a huge artist on stage with another massive contemporary. Sample flipping transcends genres by breathing new life into countless classics. Weaving the old and new, the mesh of sounds ties together both nostalgia and modernity. One such classic that has been interpolated, reused, and revamped is “12 Days Of Christmas.” Undoubtedly, the song, popularized by Frederic Austin, is among the most sampled Christmas tunes of all time across genres.
The original song is anything but Hip Hop or R&B. However, over the years, many artists have flipped the tune, creating excellent Hip Hop and R&B renditions. While there are many great examples, we have curated a short list of some of the best ones to check out. Here are seven of the best sample flips of “The 12 Days Of Christmas.”
On November 30, 2020, Fivio Foreign flipped “12 Days Of Christmas” for his holiday record, “Baddie On My Wish List.” The song is a Christmas-themed Apple Music exclusive, and one of the more interesting sample flips of “12 Days of Christmas.” Besides the obvious difference in genres, the lyrical content in Fivio’s rendition is also quite different from the original. In detail, on the first day of Christmas, Fivio Foreign did not receive a partridge in a pear tree. Instead, he says he put a baddie on his wish list. The rapper has many different things on his mind than turtle doves and gold rings. Its modern twist on “The 12 Days Of Christmas,” is something we are here for.
Gucci Mane released “12 Days Of Christmas” as a part of his commercial mixtape East Atlanta Santa 3on December 20, 2019. This track contains a sample flip of the OG version of the song. However, the beat also contains a sample flip of “Carol Of The Bells,” another Christmas staple. Gucci Mane’s trap offering of the classic song is a bop, to say the least. He may veer off the path of the original song a lot, but that’s part of what makes his version so good.
A charming and festive tune, “Angels Are Singing” is a Pop and R&B record by the talented Jordin Sparks. The song was released for digital download on November 27, 2011 on iTunes and Amazon. Moreover, it is the theme song for the ABC television movie 12 Dates Of Christmas subsequently released on December 11, 2011. On “Angels Are Singing,” Sparks takes the lyrics and melodies of “12 Days Of Christmas” and infuses it with R&B flair. The end product is a record that evokes nostalgia while appealing to their modern musical palate.
Veteran actor and musician Jamie Foxx has also taken a spin with the popular holiday tune. His R&B rendition was featured in the movie Hip Hop Family Christmas Wedding (2022). While he mostly follows the melody and progression of the OG version, the lyrics of Foxx’s version are very different. For example, his true love gave him “four Birkin bags,” “11 Lamborghinis,” and “10 tennis braces,” among other things. Besides the expensive gifts at the core of his rendition, this version of the song is sure to get listeners moving.
3. “12 Days Of Christmas” – Pentatonix
Pentatonix is known for their intricate musical arrangements and harmonies. Over the years, the group has covered several holiday classics, interpreting them in interesting ways each time. Likewise, on their rendition of “12 Days Of Christmas,” they deliver another interesting vocal performance. Pentatonix is one of the most popular acapella groups in the world, and considering their catalog, they have earned their fame. “12 Days Of Christmas” is completely driven by the voices of the group’s five members. Regardless, the absence of an instrumental is barely felt, which is honestly quite iconic.
“12 Days” is the fifth track on Ginuwine’s eighth studio album, A Ginuwine Christmas. Released on October 11, 2011, the 10-track album contains covers of Christmas classics, including “Joy to the World,” and “Silent Night.” While “12 Days” was not released as a single like the aforementioned tracks, it remains one of the album’s standouts. Ginuwine’s R&B interpretation of “12 Days Of Christmas” is smooth, yet striking. Certainly, it deserves its spot on this list, and is one of the most iconic sample flips of the iconic holiday song.
1. “8 Days Of Christmas” – Destiny’s Child
Containing arguably the most iconic sample flip of “12 Days of Christmas,” this song is one of Destiny’s Child’s most recognizable holiday offerings. “8 Days Of Christmas” is the title track and lead single of the group’s fourth studio album. The production blends Hip Hop and R&B elements, creating a modern and upbeat holiday track. In addition, the arrangement includes catchy melodies and intricate harmonies that elevate the track.
The annual festival will take place from Wednesday, July 10 to Saturday, July 13, 2024 in Madrid, Spain.

They were fresh from a hiatus from the chart-topping original “boy band” New Edition. At the suggestion of producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, members Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, and Ronnie Devoe formed Bell Biv Devoe aka BBD. The group released their debut album Poison in 1990. And although four hits emerged from the album, one song in particular mesmerized and built a fan base that started to prefer a harder sound, due to the mainstreaming of Hip Hop.
“Poison” was credited as pioneering the “new jack swing” era, combining hip-hop, funk, soul, and pop music. The album reached No.1 on Billboard‘s R&B/Hip-Hop chart. And the title song reached No. 3 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, where it stayed for four weeks. It was certified 4x platinum by the RIAA on April 28, 1995. The music video boasts 16 million views on YouTube and of course, BBD has performed the song all over the world.

“Poison” peaked at No.1 on the Hot Black Singles (now known as Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs) chart for two weeks. The song became one of the most successful singles of 1990 and was a staple on MTV and mainstream radio that summer, spending ten weeks in the Top 10. In addition, “Poison” had overseas success, going platinum in Canada. It also reached silver certification in the U.K. and hit the Dutch Top 40 in The Netherlands.
Poison: An R&B Classic
“Poison” was written by American writer/ producer Dr. Freeze, who initially had doubts about the now classic lyrics, which started as a letter to an ex-girlfriend. However, the guys went wild when they heard it and knew it would be a hit. Bell Biv Devoe’s second single “Do Me!” also peaked at No.3 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and No.8 in New Zealand while also charting in Australia, Canada, and the U.K. The third single “I Thought It Was Me” spent one week at No.1 on the U.S. R&B chart, and peaked at No.26 on the Billboard Hot 100 pop chart. “When Will I See You Smile Again,” the fourth single and one of only two ballads on the album, reached No.3 on the American R&B charts.
The sound of the single, “Poison,” was quite unlike anything in New Edition’s adolescent pop-R&B tracklist. The beat was funky and the lyrics were sexually potent. The song undoubtedly started a trend. Fans were learning the signature dance moves from the“Poison” video and starting to dress like the group in overalls with one strap down. But no one anticipated the critical shift in the evolution of R&B that the single fueled. The arrangements of their songs broke the rules by pairing rapping and singing together, making rap-free radio edits difficult to achieve. Bell Biv Devoe had now helped usher hip-hop into mainstream radio rotation.
