Pharrell Allegedly Has “Three Albums” Worth Of New Music

While Pharrell Williams has been quite busy after recently becoming the creative director for Louis Vuitton menswear. However, it seems he still makes time for his first love: music. According to a recent interview with GQ, the Virginia native has a ton of music in the vault, just waiting to be released. During the chat, Williams told reporter Noah Johnson that he had finished at least “three albums’ worth of music since arriving in Paris.” The music had all been produced at a studio and office at Louis Vuitton.

Throughout the interview, the pair also discussed how the producer is able to balance his music career and fashion. In Pharrell’s opinion, there is no need to balance because it’s “one fluid thing,” he says. “I go back and forth between music and clothes,” Williams told Johnson. “Songs and shoes, accessories and harmonies. And it’s one fluid thing.”

It’s Been Almost A Decade Since Pharrell Released A Solo Project

Rumors of new music are sure to spark enthusiasm among fans. This would be Pharrell’s first solo album since 2014’s Girl. Released in March, the project featured appearances by Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyrus, Alicia Keys, and more. Upon its release, it peaked at No.1 on the Billboard 200 and has sold over 591,000 copies worldwide. The album has also been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Among its most successful singles was “Happy” from the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack, which was nominated for an Academy Award.

Pharrell was named Men’s Head Designer at Louis Vuitton in February, a position that used to be held by Virgil Abloh. He debuted his first collection at Paris Fashion Week this June. The Neptunes hitmaker admits he was initially concerned about his appointment and expected Nigo, his longtime friend and collaborator who now heads LVMH’s Kenzo brand, to take over. “He’s my hero, he’s my brother, and he’s the general,” Pharrell said. “I’ve been championing him for a minute. And whenever me and Alexandre talk about LV, we would always just talk about different people. I’ve always been in the background, just advising. I never thought that it would be me.”

50 Cent Shows Love To 9-Year-Old Fan

50 Cent is now using his social media to either market his latest business venture or troll his fellow peers. However, this time, he’s used it for a good reason. After a clip recently surfaced online of a young fan of his being overjoyed about receiving tickets to his Final Lap tour, the rapper couldn’t help but embrace the young fan. The tickets were reportedly a gift from the boy’s father for his ninth birthday. The heartwarming video also shows clips of the boy rapping the G-Unit founder’s verses word for word.

The mini-superfan pulled out all the stops and even dressed up like his idol. Donning a wife beater, iced-out pendant chain, and Durag with NYC fitted cap, which became 50’s signature look in the early 2000s. The boy also donned a fake tattoo sleeve on one arm. The heartwarming video seemed to put a big smile on the rapper’s face.

The rapper’s comment section seemed to be just as amused with the young fan. “This kid knows every word and clearly wasn’t born when the songs came out that shows 50’s influence.” Another fan commented: “after 20 years .. being able to influence millennial children .. that deserves respect ma n*gga … nowadays you don’t see it anymore .. I remember over there in 2003 listening to get rich or die trying .. I hope I can meet you in person .. blessing.”

In other related news, along with a cult-like fan base, the rapper has another reason to celebrate. Hartford recently declared August 11, “50 Cent Day.” The decision was to honor the icon, who moved to the state in 2003. “Today was officially Curtis 50 Cent Jackson day in Hartford, CT. The energy was so good, it made me remember why I moved to CT,” Fif wrote on Instagram at the time. He cheerfully posed beside the state’s governor, Ned Lamont, who provided him with an official statement of the honorary day. Stay tuned to HNHH for more news from the music world.

Young Capone Found Dead At 35

The search for Young Capone, also known as Dopeboy Ra or “RaRa,” has come to an unfortunate end. The 35-year-old rapper has been found dead, and the cause of death has yet to be revealed. His publicist, Aleesha Carter, took to Instagram on Tuesday (August 15) to confirm the news, as well as offer the late rapper a tribute. “This is with a heavy, heavy heart that I’m even posting this,” she wrote in the post’s caption. “We made magic when we strategically put out projects, always.

Carter continued: “Young Capone, aka Dopeboy Ra, aka Rara, was one of my first Hip Hop/ Rap clients, and I can’t believe the news I just got of his unexpected passing! A friend…a client, and just huge in East Atlanta. This is not the easiest post at all. Rest easy, RIP @dopeboyra.” Prior to this news, Capone, real name Rodriquez Smith, had been reported missing in Chicago earlier this week. Around the time of his disappearance, there were concerns about his mental health.

The underground Atlanta rap star grew to prominence in the early to mid-’00s. He’s worked with industry heavyweights like Daz Dillinger and Jermaine Dupri. He would eventually get signed to Dupri’s So So Def label. Prior to switching his stage name to Dopeboy Ra, he dropped off two mixtapes — 2010’s Look Who’s Back and 2011’s Paper And Politics. His latest project SlumMade 2.0, was released in December 2022. Following the news of his death, tribute messages from his peers started to pour in.

Jermaine Dupri, Young Dro, and J.I.D were among those who offered the late rapper their condolences. “Really not the type of post i wanna be posting man. The making of this video was the first thing came to mind when I heard shawty was deceased. Big talent no. Condolences to his family and loved ones,” Dro wrote via Instagram. The rapper’s longtime friend and collaborator Runway Richy also mourned the rapper’s death on social media, sharing a handful of photos of them together along with a message celebrating their joint achievements. “I hate to say this, but Rest in peace my n*gga @gxdsxlldxpe @dopeboyra,” he wrote. “[F*ck] what they talking bout we dropped a classic on dese [ninja emoji].

Kevin Gates Spotted Attending Drake’s LA Concert

Kevin Gates is known for his brash lyrics and wild antics, but his camaraderie with his peers is often overlooked. Gates was recently spotted attending Drake’s LA tour stop. In a clip that recently surfaced online, the “2 Phones” rapper appears to be enjoying himself during Drake’s set. Following a quick intermission, Drake noticed Gates in the crowd and embraced him. The pair quickly dapped it up before the “Nonstop” rapper resumed his performance.

The last time the two names were mentioned together was during YNW Melly’s murder trial. An undercover cop ended up mentioning the rappers during his testimony regarding the violent content in their lyrics. Juelz Santana, Young Thug, and French Montana were also among those referenced.

Drake’s latest trek started last month, and it has already broken records. Drake earned $5 million each night at Capital One Arena, making him the first rapper to earn that amount in a single performance. Spanning 54 dates across the US and Canada, the tour will run until October. There will be stops in notable cities like Inglewood, Toronto, and more. The tour has featured various special guests so far, including Lil Yachty and, most recently, Meek Mill

In other news, Kevin Gates recently came back to Instagram to send a message to his followers. In a clip posted to his official page, the rapper seems to be relaxing in the ocean as he speaks directly to the camera. He had quite a bit to say. “Let the record reflect,” he began. “[If] [you] ever did me dirty when I wasn’t nothing but genuine with you people… Hey, I forgive you. I didn’t understand it when I was going through it, but I thank you.” He continued: “‘Cause y’all… provoked me to be something that I never, ever thought I could be… I’m gonna step away for a while, and I’m gonna have my executive assistant take care of my affairs.” He added, “Hey, but do me two favors…Find me two n*ggas. Find me that n*gga that could say I told on him, and find me that n*gga that could say he stuck his d*ck in me.”

Jay-Z Helps New York Libraries Gain 14K In New Accounts

The recent spike in NYC library visitors can be attributed to Jay-Z. The Brooklyn Public Library and Roc Nation released 13 limited edition library cards inspired by Hov. Due to the fact that each card features artwork from his solo albums, the recent uptick makes sense. Nearly 14,000 people have already registered for the free library card, according to CNN.

The cards will be available on a rotating basis through August to New York residents only. The schedule is available on the BPL website. “The community’s enthusiastic response to this exhibition is a testament to Jay-Z’s immense impact,” Linda E. Johnson, President and CEO of the Brooklyn Public Library, told CNN.

Meanwhile, Jay-Z’s 40,000-square-foot “The Book of Hov” exhibition has been extended through October. The exhibition officially opened on July 14 with a star-studded premiere attended by Jay-Z, Beyoncé, and their daughter, Blue Ivy. It features “archived objects, including original recording masters, never-before-seen photos, iconic stage wear, prestigious awards,” and more. Jay-Z’s love for Brooklyn shouldn’t come as a surprise. The rapper, whose real name is Shawn Carter, grew up in the Marcy Housing projects. The public housing complex was located in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Bedford-Stuyvesant, also known as “Bed Stuy.”

There were others who showed their love for the birthplace of Hip Hop as well. New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) released 80,000 MetroCards featuring LL Cool J, Pop Smoke, Rakim, and Cam’ron. In partnership with Universal Music, the initiative is part of its “Hip Hop At 50 – Honoring 50 Years of Hip Hop: A Legacy of Rhythm, Revolution, and Soul” campaign. “From standing on top of the Empire State Building to grabbing a slice at the corner pizza shop, NYC creates iconic moments that are recognized around the world,” Rakim said in a statement. “But it doesn’t get closer to real city life than swiping a metro card and standing clear of the closing doors. It’s an honor to be celebrating the 50th anniversary on the streets… and now below them… of the city where hip-hop was born.”

T.I. Reflects On Kanye West’s Fall from Grace

T.I. discussed his relationship with Kanye West recently, saying that while the controversy was once his superpower, it became his downfall. During an appearance on The Breakfast Club, the Grand Hustle founder opened up about working with West in the early ’00s. Their musical careers began around the same time, and they collaborated several times over the years. It’s also no secret that these two have also been involved in their fair share of controversy. However, despite their shared history of drama over the years, T.I. claims West took things too far.

“Kanye was cool as hell,” T.I. said. “I ain’t even gonna cap. Kanye was more conversational. He read the room a lot better. It feels like Ye got to a point where he just stopped reading the room and just gave everything everywhere.” Last fall, West made several anti-Semitic comments, prompting huge brands like Gap, Adidas, and Balenciaga to cut ties with him. The disgraced rapper and mogul continued to anger fans by aligning himself with white supremacists like Alex Jones and Nick Fuentes.

Kanye Stopped Being Able To “Read The Room,” T.I. Says

As the interview continued, Tip reflected on the 20th anniversary of his second studio album, Trap Muzik. Tip also discussed working with West on the “Doin’ My Job” track. Also, he revealed that West played him some of his earliest hits from College Dropout, including “Through the Wire,” “Jesus Walks,” and “All Falls Down.”

In other related news, the rapper is looking to take his amateur comedy career to the next level. In July, it was announced that Tip would be making his television debut as a stand-up comic during Kevin Hart‘s upcoming Comic View reboot. “I’m thrilled to partner with BET for the return of ‘Comic View’ as part of Hartbeat Weekend, making this can’t-miss celebration of comedy, music, and culture,” Hart told Variety in a statement. Release dates for full episodes of Comic View have yet to be announced. However, they will be hitting BET at some point later this year. Be on the lookout for an update on the release dates.

Jeezy Recalls Sister Leaving Husband For Stealing From Him

Jeezy recently opened up about how there are, in fact, mo’ problems with mo’ money. During an interview on Rap Radar, Jeezy reveals his sister’s husband stole money from him a few years back. Luckily, after discovering her husband had stolen from him, she immediately filed for divorce. In Jeezy’s opinion, it was the “realest sh*t” someone could do.

The rapper explained that he initially stashed money at her house because he had run out of places to stash his cash. Judging by the comment section, fans agree with the sister’s decision. “Most women would have chosen their husband (like Latocha from Xscape) and not talk to their brother ever again,” one fan commented on a clip of the segment posted by The Hip-Hop Wolf. “moral of the story is her husband put her in a bad position where she had to make a life altering decision that I’m sure affected her and her children. Most people aren’t going to make that decision family or not.”

In more positive news, the rapper recently added author to his list of accolades. He recently discussed the title of his new book, Adversity For Sale, explaining that he hopes the memoir serves as inspiration for his audience to achieve their dreams. He spoke about the book during a new sit-down with Good Morning America. “I think people always tell you about their success stories, but one thing that I’ve learned about life is that in every failure there’s a lesson,” he said.

He continued: “And every time I ever failed it set me up for my next task. I think to share your failures with your community and your peers and people that love you. They’ll just start to understand that it’s never too late, and that they can always push through, because sometimes you get in situations where you think it’s the end when it’s really the beginning.”

Lil Tecca Teases New BNYX-Produced Track

Lil Tecca recently gave fans a sneak peek at the new BNYX-produced track he’s been working on. In the clip shared from DJ Akademiks’ page, the 20-year-old rapper looks eager to share what he’s been working on. However, fans seem divided on its quality. “This n*gga sounds the same in every song. He suffers from the dominque jones syndrome,” one fan commented.

“Those record company streaming bots is going to be the only things bumping this,” another person wrote, whereas one fan offered a different perspective: “Ohhh brother i swear yall the same ones saying that music b sounding the same and when someone drops something a lil different from all the shit we hear yall say its trash. This song dont even sound terrible.”

The track’s reported producer BNYX (pronounced Benny X), has previously worked with several industry heavyweights. Among the artists on the list are Drake, Lil Uzi Vert, Travis Scott, and more. It is unclear when the track will be released, but hopefully, the finished product will help fans decide whether they like it. Lil Tecca has yet to reveal anything else about the tune. The upcoming track has not been discussed by BNYX either.

Earlier this year, the rapper was roasted for sampling Brandy and Monica’s 90s hit, “That Boy Is Mine.” Overall, the sample contributes to a pretty woozy and low-key cut with minimal drum patterns that are mostly carried by Tecca’s vocal delivery. Unfortunately for him, fans are tired of sample songs being so prevalent and “mid” in today’s hip-hop landscape. Of course, sampling is nothing new in the genre, as much as people like to complain about their prolificacy. In fact, sampling is considered a foundation of hip-hop by most leading figures, fans, and other community members. However, there have been a lot of hit rap songs that use sampling as a way to boost their track’s profile or entice more listeners into tuning in.

Krayzie Bone Laughs Off Stolen Bone Thugs-N-Harmony Sign

Krayzie Bone was overjoyed when he and the rest of the Bone Thugs-N-Harmony were bestowed their very own street sign. But the best part is that it was in their hometown of Cleveland — however, the milestone was tainted with reports that the sign was stolen. The “Bone Thugs-N-Harmony Way” street post was located near the intersection of East 99th Street and St. Clair Avenue. The incident allegedly happened 48 hours after it was put up. But Krayzie Bone isn’t too upset and notes it’s just the way of his city.

“That’s Cleveland,” he told AllHipHop. “They put up three signs up—one at both ends of the street and one in the middle of the street. I guess someone stole the one in the middle, thinking it wouldn’t be noticed, but left the other two. It’s all good though, no worries. All love.”
