Dr. Dre Partners With Jimmy Iovine For Atlanta Learning Center

The partnership between Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine dates back decades. Together, they have made billions from their music careers and other businesses, including Apple’s acquisition of the Beats headphone brand. Now, they’re teaming up to put their efforts to good use. Recently, the industry heavyweights came together to give back to Atlanta youth. According to Atlanta News First, the pair partnered with iconic producer Dallas Austin to break ground on their Innovational Learning Center at Frederick Douglass High School.

Named the “Iovine and Young Center,” after Iovine and Dre. Dre, whose real name is Andre Romell Young, the center’s curriculum will offer students “a different learning model.” Students can begin enrolling in the program next school year. “We believe we’re going to give these kids an advantage, a different type of education. So, you all can sell these kids, go out there and say you want these kids. Because the modern job needs these kids. That’s why,” Iovine said during a press conference.

He continued: “Me and Dre think big. We think everybody in the world’s going to learn like this well, maybe! We never thought everybody in the world would wear our headphones, but they did.”  Similar to Iovine, Ariel Brumant, a senior, said the program will help shine a light on her and her fellow peers. “We don’t have as much opportunities as other schools have,” she said.

This marks the second school the two have invested in. Back in 2021, Iovine and Dr.Dre came together to open up a public high school in South Los Angeles. The high school, the Iovine and Young Center Integrated Design, Technology, and Entrepreneurship Magnet, is based at Audubon Middle School in the Leimert Park neighborhood, according to the L.A. Times. “Here’s a place that you can go where there’s something that you can learn that you’re really interested in,” Dre told the publication.

Sukihana Links Up With Dr. Umar Once Again

It appears that lightning can really strike the same place more than once. Sukihana was recently spotted again with eccentric educator and activist Dr. Umar Johnson. The two looked quite cozy together at an undisclosed location. Earlier this summer, the pair linked up for the first time. Things heated up between the two after Sukihana tweeted a very explicit post about Johnson. She would later put the words from that post on a track entitled “Grinch.” In it, she described her sexual fantasies. “I wanna choke right now/Put the d*ck in my throat right now,” she raps. “Wanna f*ck Dr. Umar leave him woke right now.”

It led to quite a bit of back-and-forth online between the Love & Hip Hop star and the self-proclaimed “Prince of Pan-Africanism.” At one point, she even suggested that Johnson could be the one who could help “turn her into a wife.” When Johnson finally responded, it seemed he was open to the idea, but business comes first: “As you know, with me, it’s all about politics before the poonani. It’s always revolution over romance. It is always institution building before intimacy. Liberation over lust. Business before the bedroom.”

He continued: “We’re not going to deal with the none of the intimacy because that’s nobody’s business, and we not going to be into no intimacy until we get any work done in the first place.” There’s no telling whether their new friendship will turn into anything more, but it’ll definitely be fun to watch. In other related news, Dr. Umar Johnson isn’t the only one who has caught the rapper’s eye.

Sukihana recently shot her shot with Tyler, The Creator, following a picture of him and Sexxy Red surfacing online. The viral photo appears to show off the Igor rapper’s rotund behind. Ever the jokester, Tyler went on to address the photos. “Been hiding it but cat is out the bag. I got a bbl this is not photoshop.” It didn’t take Sukihanna long for her to let him know she liked what he was packing. “I like how Tyler the creator ass looking he might need a little slurp on that dookie shooter,” Suki wrote on social media in response to the picture.

Meek Mill Credits Jadakiss For “Guiding” Him In His Youth

Meek Mill recently took the time to give one of his favorite artists, Jadakiss. On Sunday (August 27), Meek shared his appreciation of The Lox rapper via his Instagram Story. Using a picture of an old mugshot — alongside Rudy Giuliani’s recent one — he plays The Lox’s 2000 track, “Blood Pressure.” It appeared on the trio’s We Are the Streets album. “This why Kiss was my favorite rapper,” he wrote in the post. “I felt like he was guiding me as a lost kid!”In recent years, Meek and Jadakiss have collaborated on several tracks, including “Heaven Or Hell,” “Every Time,” and “Real Shot.”

The Philly rapper has often talked about his harsh upbringing in the city of “brotherly love.” In a 2019 interview with Billboard, the rapper spoke about how his fighter mentality led to his interest in boxing. That year, he served as executive producer DAZN and Roc Nation-produced 40 Days: Joshua-Ruiz. The docu-series follows Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz Jr. The rapper credits Mike Tyson for making him “fall in love” with boxing.

“I probably fell in love with boxing when I used to watch Mike Tyson,” he said. “I remember watching his one-round fights and him knocking people out all the time.” In other related news, it’s been reported that Meek and Rick Ross have been in the studio. The pair shared clips of the session on their perspective social media pages. Not only is the rapper a chart-topping hitmaker, but he’s also an active supporter of social justice causes.

Recently, he helped pass a criminal justice reform act with the governor of Illinois. The act aimed to prevent parolees from being sent back to jail for non-criminal violations. “That’s a milestone in my life. When I started making music, I was just trying to get out of the ghetto and my environment. But to be a part of something that changes bills and laws that actually affect me and my people, it’s my legacy.”

Ashanti Stuns In Green Bikini

Ashanti, despite being in her early 40s, looks better than ever. The former Murder, Inc. singer was recently spotted enjoying herself poolside. Donning a slinky green bikini, Ashanti leaves little to the imagination. The “Happy” songstress has been vacation hopping for quite some time. It’s not exactly clear where she was, but it appears to be exquisite.

Judging by the comment section of 2cool2blog‘s clip, fans seem to be enjoying it — in addition to making some humorous remarks about her frequent holiday trips. “She been on vacation for 10 years now [laughing emoji],” one person wrote. Whereas another person said,” She had to have traveled half the world by now.”

The singer proves that age truly is just a number. Ashanti’s curvaceous figure has caused quite the commotion in the last few years. During the summer, the singer posted a stunning photo of herself at Carnival. She exuded goddess-like energy in jewel-encrusted attire and feathers. In other related news, Irv Gotti recently joined the Drink Champs crew and discussed the status of his relationship with the singer. In a previous episode, the former label head made some disparaging remarks about her. However, today, Irv has seemingly walked back some of his comments.

“She’s done. She’s fucking done with me. No one’s sitting around thinking… ‘Oh, but she still looks great. You ain’t want her when you seen that last picture?’ I mean this with all respect to women… I get some of the most baddest b**ches you will ever [see] in your life, and they not Ashanti.” Irv also discussed being called out by Fat Joe for his comments on Ashanti. “Fat Joe was my brother. I do not feel Fat Joe is my brother anymore. His defense and Ja’s defense is they do shows with Ashanti, but Rule will never come out and say, ‘Gotti’s a sucker.’ Fat Joe said, ‘Oh, Gotti’s a sucker.’ I gotta pull back and regress from that. If I was to go respond or anything with that, it could get crazy.”

Trinidad James Claims Gunna “Saved Male Hip-Hop”

Trinidad has just issued a message to Gunna’s haters. The rapper thinks it’s time people laid off his fellow Atlantan. On Sunday (August 21), Trinidad James took to his Instagram to show the Gunna some love and highlight his latest album, A Gift & a Curse. The project — making it his fourth studio album — was released earlier this summer in June. It did not feature any guest appearances.

“Please Stop Saying The Summer Was Boring. That’s a Lie you wanna make true. @gunna Saved It for Male Hip Hop. God Don’t Make Mistakes. #DAD,” James wrote in the post’s caption. A Gift & a Curse debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 chart, earning 85,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. The project was dropped off after the rapper was released from prison during the YSL Rico case in December 2022. Following his release, Gunna immediately received an onslaught of criticism and was labeled a “snitch.”

Judging by Trinidad’s comment section, the majority of fans seem to agree with his sentiments. “Never understood ppl caring about another man’s personal life.. all that should matter is the art, cuz had an amazing album,” one person wrote. Another person claimed, “This album hit harder because of the context behind it! Gunna did his thang.” One fan added, “Any n*gga in these comments that act like they ain’t ducking sit gunna album let’s hear yo shit. Lol man album was dope AF harder than thug Sh*t regardless of the rico case. And I like them both. Y’all n*ggaz hating on him like he said y’all name.”

However, it appears that not everyone shares the same opinion. “You weird. You post support for a snitch then make a post about supporting the people he snitched on. That mon be f*cking y’all heads up. You lost a follower,” another person wrote. Someone else said, “@gunna you a rat azz n*gga SO I TOOK IT IN MY OWN HANDS TO DISS YO [rat emoji] AZZ… IF U SO CALLED REAL KILLAS RESPECT A RAT THE INDUSTRY IS OVER!!!!”

Beyoncé Gets Key To Santa Clara, Made Honorary Mayor

Beyoncé has indeed done it all — mother, wife, Grammy-Award-winning performer, and now honorary mayor. As the city of Santa Clara prepares for Queen Bey’s upcoming performance, it also has a surprise for her. The singer will not only receive an honorary distinction but a key to the city as well. The decision was made partly due to the singer’s ability to impact the local economies in each town she visits positively.

As one of the highest-grossing tours this year, nearby restaurants and hotels look forward to that boost. A local business owner, Cindy Shen, told Fox 2 KTVU that singers always “brought great crowds.” Shen is the co-owner of the Amakai Sushi restaurant. “It’s not just Amakai Japanese Sushi. It’s for everybody in this plaza and everyone on the other side as well. Beyonce will bring crowds from everywhere, from Sacramento to Southern California. You name it. They’re coming from everywhere,” she said.

Santa Clara And The Beyoncé Effect

It’s not just businesses feeling “The Beyoncé Effect.” KTVU reports that public transportation, including Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) and Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA), will boost their services. BART tells the outlet that trains will run for the concert until midnight. Similarly, VTA plans to increase its service by 30% and run for at least an hour after the show ends. Concert-goers are encouraged to plan accordingly.

“It is a weeknight. So concert-goers are going to be vying for space on the train with regular commuters, so we urge people to just have patience. They’re going to be a lot more crowded than they normally are starting around 4:30 or 5 o’clock in the afternoon,” said Stacey Hendler Ross, Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority Spokesperson. Last week, it was reported that the Reinassance tour broke the record for the biggest one-month gross in history for its impressive month of July. Across 11 shows, the tour made $127.6 million, officially breaking the record. The previous record holder was Bad Bunny, who once racked up $123 million in a single month of touring.

The announcement was recently shared on the pair’s official Instagram account. The capsule will be available in stores or online. The post helps give fans a glimpse of what to expect for the drop. Judging by the pictures, the new collection is athleisure-inspired. From bright-colored activewear pieces to even a slinky, orange dress. Prior to this, the pair dropped their first capsule with the lingerie brand last year. The Bailey sisters seem to be pros when it comes to brand deals. Aside from VS PINK, the pair has done campaigns with Neutrogena, Crocs, and more. However, on a more sour note, the pair have been embroiled in some controversy as of late. Rumors have been swirling that Halle Bailey might be carrying a bun in the oven.

The Little Mermaid actress was spotted on her boyfriend DDG’s livestream with what appears to be a burgeoning baby bump. Following that, as a big sister should, Chloe responded to her sister’s critics online. “Y’all better keep my sister’s name out your mouth,” the “Body Do” singer said in a clip posted to her Instagram. But not everyone seems to be a fan of Chloe’s gesture. Internet personality and Fox Soul host Funky Dineva dragged the singer and actress for her comments. “Chloe Bailey is so goddamn lame to me,” Dineva began. “First of all, girl, you are Miss Preppy Ashley from the suburbs. Then you came out being all promiscuous, and now you’re trying to be a gangster.”

Yung Miami Orders Fans To “Leave Her Daddy Alone”

Yung Miami has made it clear that she doesn’t play around when it comes to family. The City Girls rapper recently took to Instagram to confront a few over-eager fans regarding her father. Apparently, after she shared a clip of her pops dancing around, some began to press the 29-year-old about her father’s dating life. However, Yung Miami doesn’t seem to be entertaining the foolishness.

“Y’all still inquiring about my dad because then I’m finna have to be cussing y’all hoes out, and doing all that,” she said in a clip posted to The Neighborhood Talk‘s Instagram page. “I don’t have to be doing all that with you, hoes. So just leave my daddy alone. Y’all don’t like older men anyway, ain’t it?”

She continued: “…Like just leave my daddy alone. ‘Cause my daddy gonna be calling me saying he got this hoe over here, and imma be like, ‘put this b*tch on the phone, you got my daddy f*cked up.’ B*tch, don’t be doing all that, for real.” The “Act Up” rapper later revealed that the clip of her father was from a recent party she held for her mother’s birthday. “My momma is an August Virgo, and my daddy is a September Virgo. And they are two different Virgos.” She also joked about her dad’s stellar dance moves.

On the music front, while they have yet to release an album date, the City Girls have returned with a new track. The duo’s latest effort, “Face Down,” captures the essence of the Miami natives. Featuring alongside an accompanying video, the two look better than ever as they advise women about getting what they want from men. In an April interview with The Cut, Yung Miami opened up about what fans can expect from the City Girls’ next album. “I don’t know like, it’s coming and it will sometime this summer-for real, for real, for real.” She continued, “When you’re doing a project, takes time. We’re trying to sit through it and make sure that’s what we want to put out. It’s gonna hit different.”

Jeezy Opens Up About New Memoir And Mental Health

Jeezy has recently opened up about his mental health struggles in a new interview. During a discussion with Vulture about his memoir, Adversity For Sale: Ya Gotta Believe, he says he lacked the words to express himself. “I didn’t always have the wording or the tools to understand what I was going through,” he said. Jeezy says he wants to pass along healthy habits to his community.

“As a Black man, we don’t really lean into that because we’re taught that’s weak,” he said. Prior to this, he discussed his experience with suicidal ideation with PEOPLE. “My friends became junkies, and they were getting killed and all these things. So it was all this stuff in my head,” he says. “I just remember standing there, and it was for a brief moment, I would say at least about 10 minutes, I actually contemplated jumping in the water.”

Luckily, the rapper pushed through and says he’s doing much better these days. “I was depressed, my mental health was off, and I went on the journey, and I’m still on the journey. Today, I can say that I’m honestly in a better place.” Jeezy says he addressed his own mental health struggles, hoping to inspire others. He continued: “You can have all the money in the world, but if your mental health ain’t right, You’re not going to be able to enjoy it.”

The rapper added: “I just want to put that in the book in a way that people can look at it and see the trauma in it.” Jeezy told Good Morning America he hopes the book also serves as inspiration for his audience to achieve their dreams. “I think people always tell you about their success stories, but one thing that I’ve learned about life is that in every failure, there’s a lesson,” he said.

Burna Boy Clarifies Comments On Black Americans

Burna Boy found himself in hot water a few weeks back for saying Black Americans “lack culture” during an interview. “Why do you think Chinese Americans have their respect?” he questioned. “They don’t go through the things that African Americans go through.” Burna Boy added, “You know why? Because the Chinese American has a base. He actually knows where he’s from in China. Italian Americans know where their grandparents came from in Italy… Same goes for everyone else except African-Americans.”

Almost immediately, he received criticism for his remarks. Recently, he had a sit-down with Complex to provide some clarity. The Nigerian singer says that his words got misinterpreted. He also claims he ignores the negative attention because “people have their own agendas.”

Burna Boy Says He Wants To Bring People Together

“My mission is to bring us together. My mission is to build a bridge that can’t be broken, a bridge that should’ve always been there,” he says. “So for me, that’s not really relevant. I don’t really look at none of that because I feel like when people say that they have their own agendas.” He also reflected on his comments about Malcolm X and Louis Farrakhan: “There’s nothing I said that Malcolm X didn’t say. There’s nothing I said that The Honorable Louis Farrakhan didn’t say. But, obviously, it’s Burna Boy saying it and he’s from Africa… All that’s beneath me. My mission and my movements [are] too divine for stupid sh*t like that.”

It seems that Burna Boy can’t escape drama these days. The singer/ songwriter is also facing backlash for his statements on Afrobeats. Burna Boy claims that many of the artists lack real “life experience.” In his opinion, the genre has become about “nothing.” Burna Boy also noted that music doesn’t have realistic depictions about the pitfalls of life. “That’s why you hear most Nigerian music, African Music, or Afrobeats, as people call it, is mostly about nothing, literally nothing. There is no substance to it, like nobody is talking about anything,” he told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe.
