6ix9ine Drops Surprise Reggaeton Album, “Leyenda Viva”

6ix9ine has temporarily shifted away from rap. Today, he surprised fans with the release of his third studio album, Leyenda Viva. The album is reggaeton and entirely in Spanish. It consists of 11 tracks and features minimal collaborations. However, Latin Grammy-winning artist Lenier appears on seven of them. For those who don’t speak Spanish, the title translates to “Living Legend.” One of the songs included on the album is “Y Ahora.” It was previously released as a single and draws inspiration from regional Mexican music. This track was a collaboration with the Mexican band Guapo Firme.

Leyenda Viva marks 6ix9ine’s first full studio album in three years. It follows his sophomore release, TattleTales, released in 2020. That project debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, with 53,000 album-equivalent units sold in its first week. However, Billboard’s rules have since changed. This has unsurprisingly prompting 6ix9ine to express grievances against the publication. He criticized the rule that excludes merch bundles from counting towards chart placements. The rapper claims that it was implemented after he sold over three million dollars’ worth of merchandise for his single “Gooba.” Whether or not that is true is not clear.

Is 6ix9ine Leaving Rap Behind?

In addition to releasing a full album, 6ix9ine also dropped a video for his new single, “Pa Ti.” The song features a female artist named Yailin la Mas Viral. The video features the two mostly performing to camera in front of a lavish looking house in a tropical setting. While this new direction of 6ix9ine’s has been in the works for a while, many have criticized it. Some accused him of being a culture vulture, doing rap when it suited him and then moving on to something else. 6ix9ine, as always, had a strong response to the criticism.

“You know how many Spanish n*ggas is born and raised… in the whole of New York City? What ya’ll trying to say, Spanish n*ggas can’t eat? When you Spanish, you can only make Reggaeton?” 6ix9ine said in an Instagram video. “It’s our culture, too, n*gga…” 6ix9ine sounds angry in the clip as he makes his feelings clear. He went on to talk about his accomplishments as a Spanish-speaking rapper. “Name one Spanish rapper other than me… that can enter the top 10 on Billboard… Y’all just mad because I can enter a whole different demographic in the Spanish market. I dominated the English, and I’m gonna dominate the Spanish.”

Mike Dimes Gets Personal On New Album “TEXAS BOY”

San Antonio rapper Mike Dimes has become the most recent artist to turn TikTok fame into a major label deal. His 2021 song “My Story” has blown up on TikTok and racked up over a billion views. After releasing his album DLOG in 2021 and IN DIMES WE TRUST in 2022, now he’s back with a major label debut. TEXAS BOY arrives by Epic Records and SinceThe80s and has some high-profile names in the tracklist. Dro Kenji, BigXthaplug, and Maxo Kream were already included in the album’s singles. Among the deep cuts are Denzel Curry, Joey Bada$$, Wiz Khalifa, and Hoodlum.

A few months ago he dropped the album’s lead single “Heavy Metal.” It arrived pretty quickly after his output in 2022 and was the first of three singles that ultimately preceded the album. Just last month, Mike Dimes also made an appearance on the Metro Marris single “Payroll.” Dimes went on tour last year with Denzel Curry and Curry seemingly paid him back with an appearance on this record.

Mike Dimes Major Label Breakthrough

Speaking of collaborations, last year Mike Dimes popped up in a pretty surprising place. His track with JELEEL!, “CLUBHOUSE!” dropped in June of last year and saw both artists switching up their sound a bit. The appearances on his new album aren’t the only cosigns he’s received from major rappers. Last year J.I.D joined him for a remix of his song “HOME.”

Mike Dimes’ collaborators have been pretty busy too. Denzel Curry and J.I.D both already dropped deluxe editions of their new albums from last year. Joey Bada$$ released a new single last month called “Fallin’.” On the track, the rapper tries out his R&B side with a moodier instrumental and his own sung vocals. What do you think of Mike Dimes’ new album? Let us know in the comment section below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for more news from around the music world.

Kiana Lede Makes R&B Magic On “Grudges” Album With Bryson Tiller, Ella Mai, Khalid, And More

The women of R&B aren’t coming to play this summer – especially not Kiana Lede. On Friday (June 16), the songstress shared her highly anticipated sophomore album, Grudges, which marks her first full-length effort since 2020’s KIKI. Her debut LP became an immediate fan favourite, thanks to titles like “Mad At Me,” “Forfeit” featuring Lucky Daye, “Chocolate” with Ari Lennox,” and “Second Chances” alongside 6LACK.

For today’s drop, Lede has brought on an equally impressive roster of collaborators. She and Ella Mai connected on the previously released “Jealous” single, which was also accompanied by solo efforts like “Irresponsible” and more recently, “Deeper.” Bryson Tiller makes an appearance on “Gone,” and near the end of the 18-track effort, Khalid lends his talents to “Where You Go.” As noted on the opening song, “Bitter B**ch – INTROlude,” we hear several toxic viewpoints throughout the lyrics, proving that it may just be an “Act Bad” summer after all.

Kiana Lede’s Grudges Album is Here

During an interview with Vibe, Lede spoke candidly about the creative process behind her sophomore release. “Grudges actually has multiple meanings in this album. Obviously, there’s the [literal one]. I’m a bitter b**ch [who] definitely [has] grudges. I hold them very well. I’m working on it. I’m in therapy,” the 26-year-old shared. “I want fans to be able to acknowledge that it’s okay to be f**ked up, but you also have to call it, name it and work on it. For a lot of people like me, especially an Aries, it’s hard not to hold a grudge,” the singer added when asked what she hopes listeners take away from her work.

“It’s always about learning and growth and I would love for people to be able to create a safe space, or twerk in their room. I embrace a lot of emotions in this album, so I really just want people to call [out] your weaknesses and traumas but also enjoy working through those things, and accept it and grow from it. Tour will be coming at the end of the year,” she also confirmed. Stream Kiana Lede’s new Grudges album on Spotify above, or find it on Apple Music here. After you’ve listened, let us know what your top three favourite titles from the tracklist are in the comments. For more HNHH release recommendations, make sure to check back later this weekend.

Hit-Boy Drops New Tape “SURF OR DROWN Vol. 2” With His Dad

Hit-Boy’s prolific 2023 carries on. It’s not even halfway through the year and the artist/producer already has dozens of songs and numerous albums under his belt. This new one is surely the most important and personal yet. SURF OR DROWN Vol. 2 is named like a sequel to his album SURF OR DROWN earlier this year but there’s one big difference. Vol. 2 is a full-length collaboration with Hit-Boy’s own father Big Hit. The album features 10 songs and their 10 instrumental versions. It also sports features from Big Sean, Dom Kennedy, and Garren.

The album was led off by the single “Reckless & Ratchet,” an infectious summer jam. It was made with Hit-Boy’s father just after he was released from a nine-year stint in prison. SURF OR DROWN VOL. 2 follows its predecessor which dropped in March. The album saw Hit-Boy teaming up with a number of collaborators across its 21 tracks. Included in the feature list are The Alchemist, Curren$y, James Faultenroy, Nas, Dom Kennedy, and many more.

Hit-Boy And Big-Hit Team Up

In a recent podcast appearance, Hit-Boy reminisced on working with Nipsey Hussle before his death. He also revealed he has material with the late rapper that is currently unreleased. Hit-Boy has also been subject to an ongoing beef with fellow producer Hitmaka. Both producers have been pulling out receipts of their work in back and forth Instagram posts.

Last month as soon as Big Hit was released from prison, he went directly to the studio. Clearly, the pair got to work quickly as they’ve just dropped an entire album together. What do you think of Hit-Boy’s new full-length collaboration with his dad? Let us know in the comment section below. Also, stay tuned for more from the music world. Killer Mike Drops First Solo Album In A Decade, “MICHAEL”

Killer Mike is a respected member of the music duo Run The Jewels. However, he has recently been focused on his solo career. His highly anticipated solo album, titled MICHAEL, has finally been released. At the start of the project, Killer Mike’s collaborator Cuz Lightyear took on the official role of A&R. For his role, he received a salary, which is a common practice in the music industry. However, what sets this situation apart is that Mike personally funded Cuz Lightyear’s salary out of his own pocket.

As the project progressed, Killer Mike brought No ID on board to elevate the project from a mixtape to a full-fledged album. By this point, Mike had already invested more than $250,000 of his own money. As the album continued to develop, the total cost escalated to over $500,000. Typically, such a substantial financial commitment would pose challenges with a record label. However, at that time, Killer Mike was not signed to any label. Eventually, Mike secured a deal with Loma Vista Records. Fortunately, the advance payment from this deal reimbursed Mike for the money he had personally invested in making the album, alleviating the financial burden he had carried.

Killer Mike Stays “High And Holy”

On the latest single from MICHAEL, Killer Mike enlisted the talents of Atlanta legends. “Scientists & Engineers” features contributions from Andre 3000, Future, and Eryn Allen Kane. This track served as the fifth single off of Mike’s new album. Like the previous singles, it continued the theme of gospel-inspired hip-hop. That sound is prevalent throughout the entire album. However, that’s exactly what makes it feel so powerful. There is so much soul and heart in every track.

It is next to impossible to pick standout tracks from the album. It is no exaggeration to say there are no skippable tracks. However, some of the tracks, like “High & Holy,” have some standout lyrics. “Men have died for dollars / Men have killed for pennies,” Mike raps on the track. “But too few have made a difference so they life is finished.” What do you think of MICHAEL? Sound off in the comments and let us know!

Gunna Is “Back At It” In New Album, “a Gift & a Curse”

A few days ago, Gunna took to social media to announce the release of his upcoming project, a Gift & a Curse. In a tweet, he revealed that the record is a personal offering “from Me To You.” This announcement comes after Gunna shared a snippet of unreleased music on his Instagram Story last week. The clip gave fans a taste of what was to come. Earlier this month, he also released the track “Bread & Butter.” The song sparked speculation that he dissed Lil Baby and Lil Durk in the song.

Gunna denied the claims of calling anyone out in the song, stating that he was simply sharing his own story. However, he did address the YSL RICO case in the song. Both Lil Baby and Lil Durk have distanced themselves from Gunna. This comes amid allegations that he cooperated with authorities during Young Thug’s trial. Durk expressed his strong feelings about Gunna’s alleged actions on DJ Akademiks’ Off The Record podcast.” That man told,” Durk said. “You should have went in there and kept your mouth closed.”

Gunna Releases An Album With Zero Features

One of the most noticeable things about the tracklist for Gunna’s new album is that it has zero features. That is almost unheard of in this day and age. However, given the circumstances, it isn’t so surprising. There are likely not many people who would be willing to feature. Although, it seems like he might be able to reach out to 6ix9ine for a remix if he wanted to. Love him or hate him, Gunna is blazing forward and letting the hate slide right off of his back.

“Never gave no statement or agreed to take no stand on ’em,” Gunna raps on “bread & butter.” It appears that he is trying to say that his attorneys did something without his knowledge. In other words, he says that he isn’t a snitch. “Lawyers and the DA did some sneaky sh*t, I fell for it/On my Ps and Qs because, this time, I be prepared for it, yeah,” he says on the track. Given the fact that the hate hasn’t let up since he released the single, it doesn’t seem many people believe him. What do you think of Gunna’s new album? Be sure to sound off in the comments and let us know!

Wiz Khalifa Drops New Mixtape “See Ya”

Wiz Khalifa is remaining as prolific as ever. The legendary Pittsburgh rapper already has dozens of mixtapes to his name and he added another one when he dropped a new album today. See Ya is a massive 25-track 65-minute undertaking from Khalifa. The tracklist sports features from Lil Vada, Chevy Woods, and Young Deji. The tape’s 9th track “Close Frame” had already received an accompanying music video.

Just last year alone Wiz released a trio of new projects. Stoner’s Night was a collaboration with Juicy J that featured guest spots from BIG30, Project Pat, and Elle Varner. He followed that up with Full Court Press a huge collaborative project between Wiz, Girl Talk, Big K.R.I.T, and Smoke DZA. He somehow had even more material up his sleeve with a full-length album Multiverse, which featured even more tracks on the deluxe edition. Earlier this year his fan-favorite 2008 mixtape Star Power finally made its way to streaming services. Safe to say Wiz Khalifa fans have had plenty of material to chew on recently.

Wiz Khalifa’s Huge New Tape

A recent tweet from the rapper celebrated his son finishing 4th grade.

A few months ago during a festival performance, Wiz Khalifa paid tribute to a number of fallen rappers like XXXTENTACION, Mac Miller, and Juice Wrld during his performance. What do you think of Wiz Khalifa’s new mixtape? Let us know in the comment section below.

Sexyy Red Drops New Album, “Hood Hottest Princess”

Following a recent breakout moment for the St. Louis rapper Sexyy Red has delivered her biggest project to date. Hood Hottest Princess follows her formula of hard-hitting sex-positive bangers. The album was preceded by three singles starting with “Born By The River” last year. The album’s closing track “Female Gucci Mane” was first dropped as a single earlier this year. Her next single “Pound Town” featuring Tay Keith became her biggest hit yet. The song went from hit to smash when Nicki Minaj joined for a remix on “Pound Town 2.”

The track dropped just a few weeks ago and has already racked up millions of streams. The track debuted at #66 on the Hot 100 after its first week out. It marked Sexyy Red’s first entry on the Hot 100 for one of her own songs. Elsewhere on the album are even more high-profile features. The track “Strictly For The Strippers” features both Juicy J and ATL Jacob. Though the project is just over 30 minutes it is packed full of hard-hitting lyrics and beats. What’s even more attention-grabbing is Sexyy Red’s uncompromising personality and rapping.

Sexyy Red Brings The Bangers

Hood Hottest Princess is Sexyy Red’s first new project since 2021’s Ghetto Superstar. She released that record independently but her new project is released via Open Shift. Sexyy Red has had a busy year even outside of her own music. She appeared on NLE Choppa’s hit song “SLUT ME OUT” earlier this year. In the song, she brought the same sexually charged intensity to that track and the accompanying music video.

She also joined fellow breakout star Kali on a remix of her hit song “Area Codes.” The “314 Remix” saw the two rappers linking up for a series of slick and confident rhymes. Let us know what you think about Sexyy Red’s new project in the comment section below.
