J Stalin Continues His Prolific 2024 With “Me Vs. Me 3”

Believe it or not, J Stalin is one of Oakland, California’s longest living legends when it comes to rap. The guy has been releasing projects for just over a decade and a half and has made a living off dropping multiple per year. But instead of just existing in the field, the 41-year-old MC has harnessed the sound of the West Coast, all while adding his own minor tweaks. He is an adept artist when it comes to setting the tone for a song and across Me Vs. Me 3, J Stalin does just that. On this 10-track offering, he brings a long several guests, which include Slimmy B, Joe Blow, Turf Hogg, and Young Betho. This, as you can see, is a trilogy, and it was kicked off earlier this year.

That might be the craziest fact about this tape, as this series is already three entries deep. For J Stalin the Me Vs. Me saga seems like a more an exercise in vibes and lowkey bangers. These tapes give off the sense that Stalin can crank these kinds of songs out in his sleep without much thought. However, that does not mean that he is not putting effort and paying close attention to detail. J Stalin is giving you some solid material from beginning to end, so do not worry about feeling cheated out of quality.

Rucci Recruits Jay Rock, Kalan.FrFr, G Perico & More For “Forever On That”

Rucci has always been an artist who is all about repping the iconic West Coast sound and doing it proudly. The rapper began to pop off in 2018-2019, especially when his debut album, Tako’s Son, dropped. From there, he began to build a rapport with some of California’s established talents like AzChike, Kalan.FrFr, among others. His chemistry with the former grew so much that they would go on to drop a joint album, Kourtesy Of Us, back in 2021. All of those learning experiences have led him to develop a signature sound which is apparent on the brand-new album from Rucci, Forever On That.

Overall, this is the veteran’s 19th project overall and first of 2024. Leading up to the release of Forever On That, Rucci put out a third of it, with the rollout process beginning in late January. The title track got things started, and then songs like “Double Park”, “It Hit Different” with BlueBucksPlan followed later on. Across the tape’s 15 tracks you are getting various synonymous soundscapes that California possesses. Whether it be the cowbells, the bassy bounce, or the violent lyrics, you are getting it all. You can check out the project on your favorite streaming services below.

Hunxho Prepares For More To Come With New EP “Before The Album”

Yesterday, Hunxho unleashed his new EP, Before The Album. The nine-track project serves as a prelude to his upcoming third studio album, which does not yet have an official title. A timeline for the project has also yet to be announced, but luckily, fans now have something to listen to in the meantime. Before The Album follows the release of his sophomore album, For Her, which he unveiled in October of 2023.

Hunxho’s latest EP is his first official release of the year and certainly doesn’t disappoint. His signature, vulnerable lyricism shines through on tracks like “Ups & Downs” and “How It Feel,” giving listeners a taste of what’s to come on his junior effort. The songs are woven together by atmospheric instrumentals and mellow beats, serving as the perfect foundation for his introspective lyrics. Fans are certainly looking forward to hearing whatever it is that Hunxho has to offer on his upcoming third album, and it appears as though there may be even more to come after that.

Following the release of the lead single “Closer To Over,” he announced that he usually drops four to five times each year, suggesting that he plans to make up for lost time with more new music. What do you think of Hunxho’s new EP, Before The Album? What’s your favorite track on the project? Are you looking forward to hearing what he has to offer on his upcoming third studio album? Yelawolf Tells A Sprawling Tale On New Album “War Story”

Yelawolf has made his comeback to the studio album space with the new 25-track behemoth War Story, which is one of his most expansive and ambitious projects yet. While the LP contains features from Killer Mike, DJ Paul, Jelly Roll, his “Wolf Moon” collaborator Presley Vaughn, and more, he mostly carries this tracklist by himself and shows off his range as a rapper and songwriter. The Alabama native had previewed this new record with singles like “Make You Love Me” and is clearly set on giving his dear fans as much great content as he can.

Also, War Story arrives amid Yelawolf’s viral comments about relinquishing his possessions after the great Mac Miller passed away. “When Mac passed, dude, I was so hurt from that that I gave away everything I owned,” he said on The Bootleg Kev Podcast. “That’s a true story. I gave away every article of clothing that I owned when Mac passed, the next day. Just ’cause I felt like I needed to do something nice. No one really knew how cool he and I really were ’cause we didn’t do music.”

Meanwhile, thanks to cuts like “Everything,” this should make for one of the most fulfilling and comprehensive entries in the Yelawolf discography for fans. If you haven’t heard War Story yet, find it on your preferred streaming service or check out the YouTube playlist with the full album above. Let us know what you thought of this release in the comments section below and find the tracklist down there as well if you’re curious to check out a particular cut. As always, check back in with HNHH for the latest fiery music drops around the clock.

JID, BIA, Flo Milli, Black Eyed Peas, Sean Paul, & More Headline “Bad Boys: Ride Or Die Soundtrack”

The Bad Boys film series has been around for nearly 20 full years. It has become one of the more essential movies franchises over time due to the headlining acts. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence have become one of the more iconic buddy cop duos, and their characters, Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett, have become defining roles for them. Today, the fourth installment in the saga hit theaters and so far, it is receiving decent reviews. For the music fans out there who enjoy these films, they know that every movie has gotten an accompanying soundtrack. Well, Bad Boys: Ride Or Die continues that tradition.

Ahead of the Epic Records/Sony Music Entertainment release, two singles were released ahead of time. The first of which was “TONIGHT (Bad Boys: Ride Or Die)”, an electro-pop fusion that featured Black Eyed Peas, El Alfa, and Becky G. Then, “LIGHTS OUT”, a pop rap cut with BIA and JID all about achieving greatness, followed second. Across the 10 songs, you are predictably getting a good mix of sounds. Everything from trap rap to pop, Afrobeats, and Latin, it really is a cultural fusion. Other voices you will hear include 21 Lil Harold, who continues to grow in popularity, Sean Paul, Shenseea, Flo Milli, ScarLip, and even Will Smith.

Ski Mask The Slump God Emerges From The Depths With Comeback LP “11th Dimension”

Ski Mask The Slump God is one of hip-hop’s weirdos, but in the best way possible. Over the years, fans have come to love the cooky personality that he exudes, as well as his creativity and adaptability. So, after dropping STOKELEY in 2018, a lot of people were saddened as he took quite the long absence. Sure, there was the Sin City The Mixtape in 2021, but we think we can speak for quite a few out there when we say that we were hoping for an album. Well today that all changes, as Ski Mask The Slump God has just come through with 11th Dimension. This is his official sophomore studio album, and it features a nice collection of high-end talent.

Those include Future, ATL Jacob, XXXTENTACION, Juice WRLD, Skillibeng, The-Dream, and Corbin. Leading up to its release, Ski Mask put out a tandem of singles, the rage inspired “Shibuya”, and the rock/trap combo that is “Headrush”. In typical fashion, a majority of the tracks are short and to the point, and include some hilarious bars, along with the speedy flows. However, there are a few wildcards like “WDYM,” which features a watery and tropical vibe and sees Ski get introspective. The-Dream (surprisingly) joins him on the beautifully sung chorus as well. Some fans are saying that 11th Dimension is not living up to the hype after such a long wait. But you have to remember Ski was dealing with the losses of his closest friends (XXX and Juice). He has not been shy about much it has affected him, so him simply returning is rewarding.

The Game Joins Forces With STB Label For “Time” Project

With The Game being in the game (pun intended) for so long, he has seen quite a bit throughout his career. To be exact, his career spans over 21 years and his catalog may be in contention for the most expansive out of any rapper. In that two-decade long span, the 44-year-old has worked with many artists as you may expect. Instead of just grabbing features for his albums, he has gone out and released compilation records, too. One that hardcore Game fans might know is his 2003 tape, QB 2 Compton Ringtones. That saw cuts from Nas, and one from San Quinn. Fast forward to June 7 and The Game is adding another project of that vein with Time.

This mixtape follows his January 1 release with Hit-Boy and Big Hit, Paisley Dreams. Hit is a veteran and also roughly from the same area, so working with him made a lot of sense. This time though, The Game is teaming up with the younger generation of MCs. Those include Woodboy Gee, C Stunna, Stunna 4 Vegas, and CHLLER. Vegas and Gee are STB (Secure The Bag Entertainment) signees, which Time was released through. The Game does not appear until track six, “I Feel Like A Dope Boy”, but the other cast members keep the energy high with accessible trap bangers. In addition to providing vocals, he also is credited as an executive producer alongside CEO of STB, Ryan Kane.

Tems Details Her Mental Journey On “Born In The Wild”

Tems rise to the top has been quite rapid. Over the last couple of years, the Lagos, Nigerian genre chameleon has notched some impressive feathers in her cap. Whether it be working with Drake (multiple times) and Future on “WAIT FOR U”, or Wizkid and Justin Bieber on “Essence”, she has really been everywhere. We also cannot forget to mention her contributions to the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack. But just because she has all of these major collaborations, do not think for one second that her solo career is lackluster. From “Me & U” to “Love Me JeJe”, and “Higher”, the 28-year-old has a loaded catalog, too. The first two singles land on Tems’ debut album, Born in the Wild.

It follows up on a tandem of EPs, For Broken Ears (2020) and If Orange Was A Place (2021), both of which were well received. We can almost guarantee that her first full-length will get similar praise as well. Across the 18-song, nearly hour-long project, fans can expect a personal journey of learning to deal with fame, relationships, as well some introspection. Born in the Wild could mean a few things, but since Tems says it is all about her mindset and how she has grown. “It’s more about the state of being. It was a wilderness in the environment I lived in and there’s so many things that happened and so many lessons I learned to come and be this person now. It is basically coming out of the wilderness.”

JP Comes Through With Milwaukee Low-End Slaps On New Project “Coming Out Party”

JP is an artist who has been bubbling as of late thanks to a plethora of viral singles. Overall, it mostly started with the release of “Bad Bitty” earlier this year. Ultimately, this song could very well be the song of the summer. When it hit Twitter, it became a phenomenon with fans fawning over JP and his vocal style. Moreover, his signature moves and infectious energy had people in a trance. Since that time, he has dropped off some dope single, including “Come And See” and “Never Make Me Hate You.” Now, he is here with his album, Coming Out Party.

The project is 12 tracks long and there are no features to be found here. Instead, JP embraces the Milwaukee low-end sound that has proven to be incredibly popular online. From the fast claps to danceable rhythms, JP showcases that he is more than just a one-hit wonder. The artist is also incredibly melodic, and uses his gospel influences to his advantage. We interviewed JP recently, and he told us that his vocal style has always come naturally to him. Needless to say, music is just second nature for the Wisconsin artist.

KAYTRANADA Manages To Top Himself With New Album “TIMELESS”

KAYTRANADA is giving Metro Boomin a run for his money. The latter might have more hit singles under his belt, but KAYTRANADA has proven to be one of the most versatile and adventurous producers of the last few decades. There isn’t a sound or a style he isn’t comfortable with, and he always seems to bring out the best in his collaborators. It helps, of course, that he’s able to attract some of the most exciting names in hip-hop and R&B. Timeless is his first solo album since 2019, and it was well worth the wait.

The biggest guest features on the album deliver. Childish Gambino dips back into his “Redbone” bag with the bouncy, constantly mutating funk jam “Witchy.” KAYTRANADA and Childish Gambino seemed like a great fit on paper, and it’s satisfying to see them deliver on what was easily the most anticipated song. PinkPantheress’ airy vocals mesh perfectly with KAYTRANADA’s jittery production on “Snap My Finger,” while Anderson .Paak and SiR add tons of gritty charisma to the Neptunes-laced instrumental “Do 2 Me.” There are a few missteps, like the overly cutesy “Wasted Words” with Thundercat, but the album hits way more often than it misses, as evidenced by standouts like “Drip Sweat” and “Hold On.”

Let us know what you think of this brand-new track, in the comments section down below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. We will continue to keep you informed on all of your favorite artists and their upcoming projects.
