Lazer Dim 700 Is “Keepin It Cloudy” On His Newest Album

You all know about the current leaders of the Georgia rap scene. Young Thug, Future, Quavo, Offset, Playboi Carti, and etc. But there are some newcomers looking to make a name for themselves as we speak. Some of them are making serious strides to becoming the next stars of the Southern hip-hop region, with LAZER DIM 700 being one. Hailing from the city of Cordele, he’s been rapping professionally for about three years. Over the last year or so, he’s really been coming on, and 2024 has seemingly been his banner year so far. He’s mostly been making some noise thanks to his features.

As it stands, his appearance on Denzel Curry’s “STILL IN THE PAINT” single is probably his most notable. But he’s also got work with BabyTron, Trippie Redd, and VonOff1700, rounding things out nicely. If you have not heard any of his material yet, then we highly suggest you spin some music he just released today. It’s a brand-new studio album called KEEPIN IT CLOUDY and it’s got 18 cuts and no features. That’s been a trend so far for him, as none of his projects contain any guests. He wants to get big on his own, which is a highly commendable thing to chase. He’s certainly on his way to becoming a face of Georgia hip-hop thanks to a pretty unique sound that melds the sounds of Carti and the underground all in one. Check out the new project below with the DSP links.

9th Wonder Continues His “Zion” Instrumental Series With Its 10th Entry

One of the more “underrated” producers of our era is back. Durham, North Carolina producer 9th Wonder hit his loyal fans with another tape. He’s spent 2024 being the beat maker for underground rapper Hus KingPin. Additionally, he collaborated with a fellow instrumentalist, Give Em Soul, for a lax and soulful jazz tape back in late September. But for this release, 9th Wonder is going solo and returning to a long-running series in his discography. It’s the Zion saga, which saw its inception back in May 2016. Since then, the prolific talent has gotten the total up to nine, at least until recently.

Zion X is now the latest to arrive, and it’s one of the longer in the collection. It stands at 32 tracks, good enough for a two-and-a-half-hour-long runtime. There are occasional features peppered in, with fellow North Carolina rapper Seattle’s Key the one that pops up the most. As for the sonics on this record, 9th Wonder is tapping into some jazzier compositions again but mixing in some boom bap and East Coast-like productions. There are also some stellar soul chops going on, with “YOU CAN DO IT” and “BABYFLOAT” having some of the best. Check out 9th Wonder’s latest offering with the link below.

Yasiin Bey To Return With “Money Christmas” EP On Bandcamp

Yasiin Bey, one of the most elusive rappers of our time, is back… sort of. The Brooklyn MC formerly known as Mos Def is hitting fans with a bit of a curveball, which he’s been accustomed to doing now for the last several years. Recently, the Black Star artist made a big announcement to his Instagram page regarding a listening experience of sorts. “ASIIN BEY PRESENTS ‘MONEY CHRISTMAS’. LIVE STREAM PERFORMANCE EXCLUSIVELY AVAILABLE ON BANDCAMP. WHATEVER YOU THINK IT IS … IT’S NOT THAT,” He begins. “LIVE STREAM SUNDAY DECEMBER 15TH AT 8.00PM CET / 7.00PM GMT / 2.00PM EST / 11.00AM PST BROADCAST GLOBALLY.” This Money Christmas he’s referring to is what’s being billed as an EP.

For those wondering, tickets for the event were $7.99. He’s taking the songs he performed during this livestream and putting all of them onto this project. Of course, they are going to be mixed and mastered for everyone’s listening pleasure. Bey did say that the concert was still going to be available to watch for 48 hours after its conclusion. However, it’s nowhere to be found. According to Consequence Sound, “24-48 hours after the performance” the actual tape can be bought. So far though, Yasiin Bey has not shared Money Christmas on Bandcamp, the only place to hear it. Instead, it just says to pre-order for $9.99. With that said, that means there isn’t any information on the songs in any capacity. Hopefully, fans will be able to get their hands on it by sometime tonight or no later than Tuesday.

Tay Money Ends 2024 “Like A Boss” In New Album

Tay Money‘s 2024 included new collaborations with Waka Flocka Flame, BigXThaPlug, and Hitkidd. She ends the year with a new album, properly titled Like A Boss. With six songs, she shared that it responds to fans tired of the rap star releasing singles frequently. In an Instagram post promoting her latest effort, she captioned it: “It’s six songs cuz yall like to get mad at me for dropping singles [tear of joy face emoji] I love you. Get ready cause I’m bout to pop it.” The album is led by the lead single, “H.E.R.”

The album features popular artists OG Ron C and SADER. The six songs deliver Tay Money’s familiar magnetic energy while rapping about her glamorous lifestyle that men want to be a part of and women envy. Her slick-talking style is catchy, with sing-a-long hooks that continue to prove why she is one of Texas’ brightest stars. Since bursting on the scene in 2018, she has established herself as a notable figure in the current rap scene with a growing fan base and viral tracks under her belt.

Before the album, Big Tay released various singles throughout the year; however, none made the new tracklist. The album is self-released. Most remember Tay Money for her viral hit, “The Assignment,” but Like A Boss is the perfect origin point for newfound fans of the popular artist. Her star-studded resume includes collaborations with DaBaby, Latto, YNW Melly, and Flo Milli. Expect a highlight year for Big Tay in 2025.

Mario Returns To Claim The R&B Crown With Vibrant Album “Glad You Came”

Mario, the Grammy-nominated R&B artist, returns triumphantly with his sixth album, Glad You Came, his first album in six years. This release marks a reintroduction of the singer two decades after his debut and a reaffirmation of his place in modern R&B. Building on the momentum of his 2020 EP, Closer to Mars, Glad You Came, feels like a homecoming. The album delivers the lush, soulful sound that many feel has been missing from the genre in recent years. To craft this project, Mario collaborated with renowned producers James Fauntleroy, Bnyx, and Chiiild, blending their talents to create a body of work that celebrates the depth of his artistry.

“This has been in the making mentally for a long time,” he shared in an interview with Stephen A. Smith. “We’ve created something imaginative, confident, sexy, and classic. It honors the essence of R&B while drawing inspiration from so many kinds of music I grew up on.” The album, he said, offers a comprehensive glimpse into his evolution as an artist.

Drawing deeply from his life experiences, the singer infused the album with themes of love, loss, and emotional growth. “My successes and failures in love and my imagination shaped this project,” he told Billboard. “Glad You Came brings intimacy and creativity back into R&B, blending the timeless quality of classic soul with a retro-futuristic edge. It’s music that fits any moment or mood.”

J Cole Thanks Fans For Supporting His Re-Released Mixtapes On Streaming

J Cole may have had a pretty turbulent 2024 given the Kendrick Lamar and Drake beef, but he’s closing it out on the highest of notes. Moreover, he launched a new audio series – Inevitable – touching on his career, he announced a 2014 Forest Hills Drive tenth anniversary show in Madison Square Garden in New York City (plus a special physical edition with previously unreleased bonus tracks), and he also re-released his old mixtapes The Come Up, The Warm Up, and Friday Night Lights on digital streaming platforms for the first time ever. The North Carolina MC expressed gratitude for his loyal and supportive fanbase in late November.

“This is a very special moment for me,” J. Cole tweeted. “Been waiting patiently for this day, like a lot of yall have. I wanna say Thank you to everybody out there that kept these projects alive, even during all the years they were not on streaming services, especially this project right here. ‘Friday Nights Lights’ finally available now on all platforms. […] To have a full idea of what this means for me personally, you would have to know the whooole journey. This Inevitable series we doing, is that. […] Love to everybody tuning in, it’s really something special. The Come Up, The Warm up, and Friday Night Lights all up finally. Thank you.”

J Cole Thanks His Fans

Elsewhere, J. Cole’s manager Ibrahim Hamad confirmed the bittersweet news that next year’s Dreamville Fest in North Carolina will be the last-ever iteration of the festival. It’s a very reflective moment for the whole collective, but a lot of it is probably falling on Cole’s shoulders as its flagship artist. The battle certainly adds to that context, but it’s nice that he can indulge in this nostalgia alongside his die-hards.

Of course, there’s still plenty of new music on the way, as Daylyt might have another track coming after he and J. Cole were spotted in the studio. So Dreamville fans don’t have to enter a mourning period just yet, especially during this celebratory time with his older material. It was a tough year at times, but 2024 proved to be a pretty awesome stretch for Cole fans all things considered.

Valee Enters Surf Gang’s Sonic World On Collaborative “Grey Sky London” EP

It’s been a SURF GANG takeover in 2024 and it’s not stopping even with just a few weeks remaining. The underground hip-hop label founded by producer evilgiane in 2018 has officially taken off. “The Hillbillies” track with Kendrick Lamar and Baby Keem seemed to be what catapulted the collective. But overall, it’s been their unique cloud, emo, internet, and trap rap sounds that have been the catalyst in this. More mainstream acts like 03 Greedo and Maxo Kream have hopped into their soundscape. But they have been making their money with names like Nettspend, Slimesito, xaviersobased, and more.

Valee can now be added to the expansive list thanks to his new EP. Grey Sky London is a five-song collection between him and the label’s producers. Eera, evilgiane, and Harrison are joined by NIKETECH, Ccured and they have all created a woozy and subdued landscape for Valee. Leading up its release, they dropped “Why Not.” It’s quickly become fan favorite, racking up tens of thousands of streams on Spotify. Overall, this whole EP seems to take after the title, Grey Sky London. Typically, the popular tourist spot if gloomy, so they appeared to have shot for that aesthetic. Also, it looks like Valee and Surf Gang were recording the project there based on some IG posts. Overall, it’s a tape that doesn’t overstay its welcome. Moreover, Valee delivers some solid rapping performances to tie it all together. So, with that said, check it out below.

Sleepy Hallow Shows His Moodier & Melodic Side On “Read This When You Wake Up”

Sleepy Hallow and Sheff G have now both officially delivered. Leading up to the release of both of their projects, both New York drill rappers were dropping singles in tandem. They were put out via these two packs called Don’t Sleep While It’s Lit, and there were two of them. Additionally, they dropped a handful of teaser tracks on their own. Now, with Sleepy Hallow’s Read This When You Wake Up here this weekend, the cycle is now complete.

As we have stated many times before, one thing that separates the Jamaican-born artist apart from most of his drill contemporaries is his ability to meld pop and R&B elements with the rap subgenre. On this project, he’s doing just that, and it’s created one of his moodiest listening experiences yet. Typically, with R&B and pop music, catchy choruses and hooks are key. There are a couple of instances where Sleepy Hallow pulls that off too. “Mmm” is one example, even though it’s just him repeating the song’s title. “Winners In Paris” is another that executes it better with an additional catchy melody to boot. Overall, if you are a fan of Hallow’s more low-key cuts, this album may be for you.

DDG Recruits Tory Lanez & Real Boston Richey For His “Handling Business” EP

This weekend has been another eventful one for DDG. Not everything has been peachy keen, though. The Michigan rapper and YouTuber has been tied up in some more controversy surrounding Halle Bailey, in part anyway. He appeared on plaqueboymax’s livestream recently, and during their link-up, he was asked who his favorite ex-girlfriend was. They were doing a Q&A segment called “Dry Ones” where if you didn’t answer your question, you would have to eat a biscuit. He decided to play along and say his best ex “besides family,” meaning Halle Bailey, was a girl whose name started with a “K.” However, only the latter part of his answer got clipped by gossip outlets and it led him to call them out for creating a false narrative.

So, yes, it’s been another bump in the road for DDG, but he’s looking to move past it all with some new music. This time around, he’s here with HANDLING BUSINESS, a new four-track ep which includes a past release with Real Boston Richey, “WHAT U BAD FOR.” It also contains the title track, featuring a fresh verse recorded by Tory Lanez from his prison cell. It’s been the cut that’s been the most talked about for that reason, but also because some of his bars on his fiery and candid verse. If you want a more in-depth breakdown of it, check out this link, and this one. Additionally, there’s two moodier solo cuts “HANDS IN THE AIR” and “REASON.” Hit up the streaming embeds below to see what DDG is putting down.
