Lil Tecca Digs Into His Melodic Bag On New Album “PLAN A”

Lil Tecca has a deceptively smooth delivery. The rapper has a naturally hooky flow that makes everything he says sound slick. It’s the reason he’s been able to sidestep the one hit wonder allegations and churn out a respectable career since his breakout in 2019. PLAN A may not yield any smash hits on the level of “Ransom,” but it’s an incredibly catchy batch of songs. Lil Tecca wastes absolutely no time showcasing all of his talents on the album opener, “TASTE.” The beat is funky and seductive, while his normal voice gets underpinned by pitched up backing vocals.

Things get a bit harder on the album cuts “120” and “I CAN’T LET GO.” The latter boasts an impressive feature turn from another melody man, Don Toliver. Truthfully, though, PLAN A is at its best when Tecca is focusing on making earworm pop rap. “24HRS” sees Lil Tecca slather his vocals in Autotune with an absolutely hypnotic instrumental accompanying him. “NUMBER 2” is another sing-songy highlight, with the rapper’s flow melding perfectly with the mechanical beat. “NEVER LAST” is arguably the smoothest Lil Tecca has ever sounded on record. PLAN A is a bit long, but the brevity of each track makes it easy to pick out the highlights and keep it moving.

Future Keeps His Hot Streak Going With Masterful “Mixtape Pluto”

Future has been keeping the streets fed in 2024. He dropped two dynamite albums with Metro Boomin, and now he’s back with a solo venture. Mixtape Pluto could not have had higher expectations, due to the title and the teased snippets. We’re here to confirm that Future delivered. Mixtape Pluto is the comeback that mid-2010s fans have been waiting for. The song titles are concise and hard-hitting, as are the beats and lyrics. “Teflon Don” is a perfect album opener, setting a mood that’s both ominous and aggressive. This is not the commercial friendly Pluto that works with Taylor Swift.

Mixtape Pluto goes from highlight to highlight. “Lil Demon” and “Ski” are ferocious bangers that manage to take the Dirty Sprite 2 template and amplify it. There’s no wasted space on these beats, or in Future’s manic delivery. Mixtape Pluto is no one trick pony, though. Future manages to keep things sounding both cohesive and versatile. “Too Fast” sees a contemplative Pluto croon over a haunting sample. “MJ” is an off kilter, interlude length track punctuated by a woozy instrumental. “SOUTH OF FRANCE” might just be the best song here, though. Future finds a staggeringly catchy pocket during his verses, and the musical bed underneath perfectly conveys its title.

Let us know what you think of this brand-new album, in the comments section down below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. We’ll continue to keep you informed on all of your favorite artists and their upcoming projects.

Famous Dex And Diego Money Link Up For “Dex & Diego Wave Bros, Pt. 1”

Famous Dex and Diego Money make “wavey” music. It’s groove-based, and reliant on catchy flows more than dense lyrics. These two rappers know what sounds good, so it should come as no surprise that they manage to preserve this baseline catchiness on their first joint EP. Dex & Diego Wave Bros, Pt. 1 is not a particularly clever title, but the duo manages to make up for it with a batch of brief, punchy songs. The first song, “Bentley Truck,” is a hypnotic slice of Autotune pop-rap in which Diego Money takes center stage. Famous Dex sounds eerily like Lil Yachty at points, but it still works.

There’s a decent amount of versatility on Dex & Diego Wave Bros, Pt. 1. “Balenciaga” is a slowed down banger with slurred deliveries from both Famous Dex and Diego Money. “Dex & Diego 2” is a standout thanks to the squelching synth line that anchors the beat. “Got Dat Sh*T on Me” is the most generic cut here, as the two rappers rip off dated flows over an instrumental you’d swear you heard at least a dozen times over the last decade. Fortunately, Famous Dex and Diego Money recover with the standout closer, “Wrist.” The vocals are mixed oddly low, but it’s hard to deny how catchy the duo sound over the watery, dare we say, wavey instrumental.

Molly Santana Unleashes New EP “Masonic Musik”

It’s already been a big year for Molly Santana. The LA-based underground artist unleashed her self-titled debut studio album back in April, serving up 14 experimental tracks that boast the influence of various genres. Clearly, Santana had plenty more where that came from, as she just dropped yet another new project.

Last week, she released a new EP, Masonic Musik. Per a press release, the six-track project is intended to be “her most emotionally vulnerable, daring, and accomplished project to date.” Again, Santana’s latest effort incorporates elements of EDM, making the EP fun and experimental. Santana also highlights both her rapping and singing skills on the project, putting her versatility on full display. It features her moody track “Windows Up,” which she released as a single in August of this year.

Masonic Musik arrives after Santana has gotten co-signs from the likes of Wiz Khalifa, Cole Bennett of Lyrical Lemonade, and more. It also follows her 20-date tour across North America, which she wrapped up late last month. This year, Santana joined Ski Mask The Slump God on his “11th Dimension” tour as well, opening for the Florida-born rapper alongside Hardrock. What do you think of Molly Santana’s new EP, Masonic Musik? Will you be adding it to your playlist or not? Which track is your favorite? Are you looking forward to hearing more from the LA-based artist? Share your thoughts in the comments section and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates. Check out the project down below.

SosMula Finally Delivers “SLEEZ RELIGION”

SosMula has been working toward getting SLEEZ RELIGION out for quite some time and now it’s finally here. According to Genius, this project has been in the works since August 2022. However, it wasn’t until February of 2023 that things would really start to ramp up production wise for SosMula. That was when we would receive the title, we have in front of us today. However, perhaps due to the release of City Morgue’s final record My Bloody America in late 2023, SLEEZ RELIGION would be shelved for 2024.

That’s when SosMula and his team began to run into some issues with sample clearances and even UMG. Then, in June, he put out the lead single, “SLASHER (PT. 2)”, as well as a message to the fans wondering what’s been going on with the record. “Label gave me hard dates nothing is getting pushed bakk anymore. Btw I never pushed bakk music my self you gotta be [stupid] if Yu think I’m gate keeping my own s***”. Of course, that wouldn’t be last of the mixtape’s roadblocks, but now it’s here and after proclaiming that he “started a new genre”, we aren’t really hearing much of a differentiation from his previous work. However, there are some bangers throughout the massive 29-song tracklist, so shuffle through it and see what you like with the links below.

Rising Jacksonville Rapper Brennan Jones Drops Off Debut Album “Brennan Jones 1”

Dallas, Texas rapper ian has been popularizing the white rapper trend in 2024. His very normal appearance has gotten some listeners to hop on the bandwagon and so far, he’s been building quite the fanbase. Now, it seems that Jacksonville, Florida native Brennan Jones is looking keep that going in the latter half of the year. On one of the singles leading up to Brennan Jones 1, “Do Dat”, he says, “Yeah, yeah, they like how this white boy do that?“. The track features another very interesting character that’s making waves in LAZER DIM 700, and overall, you have a unique mixture of both sonics and vocal chops.

On this track and many others, Brennan Jones doesn’t have much to say lyrically. But where “Do Dat” and others maintain a level of intrigue is in the beats. This one in particular features lots of ominous string sections and gives off a horror movie-esque vibe. Overall, Brennan can certainly build off tracks like this and many others on the debut project. Even though he doesn’t necessarily need to switch up his bars too much to become more popular, he looks to be limited as a writer. In that same breath, this is his first record and he’s only just begun to forge his own path in rap and in a particularly crowded Florida scene. He’s got a little SosMula and BLP KOSHER in him, if that gives you any context. See what Brennan Jones has with the links below.

Foushee Pays Homage To A Loved One With “Pointy Heights”

Foushee is an incredibly fascinating talent that needs to continue to get more attention. The New Jersey native with roots in Jamaica pretty much combines her eclectic background into her music. You will never hear her not try something new whether it be on a single, project, or feature. On her latest record, Pointy Heights, Foushee is toying around with alternative in so many ways and that’s partially thanks to her varied production team. Steve Lacy is the biggest name here, and perhaps has the most influence on the direction of the sounds. However, there’s also BNYX, Jean Baptiste, Carter Lang, and more.

What’s also fun about this project is the connection that it has. Pointy Heights is a reference to her grandfather. “pointy heights is a mile & a half long area located right outside of old harbor jamaica founded by my grandfather pointy. they called him pointy bc he was pint sized 🙂 this album is dedicated to him, the fam & the community”. Leading up to the release, Foushee did share quite a bit of it’s brief 10-song 27-minute long tracklist. Four were dropped off from the end of July up until the 11th of this month. Those include “still around”, “war”, “100 bux”, and “feel like home” were all included in the roll out. Again, they all manage to sound drastically different from one another. Across it, you hear elements of doo-wop, alternative rock, and more. See why we and many others are co-signing Foushee’s new release with the links below.

Talib Kweli Teams Up With Producer J. Rawls For “The Confidence Of Knowing”

Talib Kweli is a legend in the hip-hop game thanks to his wide range of talents and ability to work with so many different artists. The Black Star and Reflection Eternal affiliate has been pretty active over the last two years in terms of singles and projects and this weekend he’s continuing that trend. Talib Kweli has just dropped off The Confidence Of Knowing, which is being advertised as album number 10.

However, he’s not releasing this 13-song effort alone, though. Columbus, Ohio underground producer J. Rawls is here too. Here, he’s tasked with laying down East Coast beats on every cut and there’s a nice mixture of sounds to be had. Of course, on top of that, Talib is bringing some food for thought and clever bars like these on one of the lead singles, “Native Sons”. “Bragging about material objects with people starving, bruh / And that’s why the phrase “eat the rich” is so popular / Please, these elitists can never defeat the populace“. There’s also some solid guests on the docket. IDK, Rass Kass, Blu, Planet Asia, and Jimetta Rose are a few of the multi-talented sidekicks. Overall, there’s a lot to like and Talib is showing that he’s still got more than enough juice for the 2020’s decade.

Babyface Ray Keeps It Real & Chill On “The Kid That Did”

Babyface Ray might not be a rapper that’s on everyone’s radar, but to us, he’s really making a nice statement with The Kid That Did. This is the Detroit, Michigan native’s latest project and it comes on the heels of 2023’s Summer’s Mine. In terms of singles, it was led by quite a few. The roll out began back in March with “Money On My Mind” and “Shy Kid”. Then, things would continue a couple of months later with a July two-pack of “Ghetto Boyz” and “Rubberband Man”.

Finally, Babyface Ray would wrap things up with “Count Money” and then Wavy Navy University on Monday. Overall, we feel that the laid-back veteran is sounding perhaps better than he ever has. Throughout the 20 songs here, he’s dropping some simple yet effective lyrical gems, keeping things real with the listener. Furthermore, the production is excellent and that helps when you have stars like Boi-1da, DJ ESCO, and Pooh Beatz in the fold. It’s wavy and crisp and it also feels kind of fresh while also paying some respects to the sounds that have been created in the blue-collar city. There’s a lot of standout tracks, with some our favorites being the Veeze-assisted “Wavy Navy University” and “Watching My Page”.
