There likely won’t be any new Migos music in the foreseeable future, but that doesn’t mean you won’t hear from the two remaining members, Quavo and Offset. Both rappers have been working on their respective solo albums for a bit, and now, it looks like Quavo’s, Rocket Power is soon to be released.
After releasing the single “Turn Yo Clic Up” with Future last week, today, Quavo shared an album trailer on his Instagram. Fittingly, it features Quavo facing off with a rocket shuttle in the desert, gripping Takeoff’s Migos chain (the album’s title is an homage to Takeoff, whose own solo debut was called The Last Rocket).
In the song playing over the scene, Quavo mentions Offset’s departure from the group (“my cousin jumped out the car, I had to keep goin’”) and recent comments about their familial relationship (“now he tellin’ the whole world that we ain’t blood”), which was foundational to the group’s mythology. However, he measures the lyrics by remembering that “it’s all love.” The trailer ends with the title displayed on screen, along with the imminent release date: August 4, 2023. You can check out the trailer below.
Quavo’s back with another one. As the rapper continues to tease his forthcoming solo album, he’s continued to release new singles throughout the year, such as “Greatness” and “Honey Bun,” each with the underlying theme of paying homage to the late Takeoff. Although a release date hasn’t been set, it’s clear that he’s coming for the summer. This morning, he unleashed a brand new single with Future titled, “Turn Yo Clic Up.”
The latest collaboration between Quavo and Future first surfaced in an Instagram snippet on Thursday. The production is handled by Atake, basobeats, Sluzyyy, and macoshooter49, who bring out a grimey and spacey soundscape for Quavo and Future’s gruff flows. “Turn Yo Clic Up” is a strong reminder of Quavo’s tenure in hip-hop since the early days with the Migos. “We turn the jeweler up, just look at the diamonds we bust/ Look at the people we touch,” he raps. His signature ad-libs slyly sit behind the command as his vocals before Future slide in one the second verse.
Future Namedrops Exes & Disses Russell Wilson On Quavo’s Single
Quavo and Future’s chemistry undoubtedly thrive every time they team up. In the past, they’ve linked up on records such as “Picasso” off of Migos’ Culture III and also on Pop Smoke’s “Snitching.” However, it seems as though “Turn Yo Clic Up” gave the I Never Liked You rapper the platform to air out some grievances. While Future’s verse undoubtedly provides us with plenty of quotables, he fearlessly calls out Russell Wilson and his exes, such as Lori Harvey, who was coincidentally entangled in relationship rumors with Quavo on Thursday. “I got it out the field, f*ck Russell/ Go and ask Lori about the Patek/ Then go and ask Joie and ask Dess,” he raps on the single. Regardless of the clickbait-y bars, his verse continues to get better, finding different pockets across the record.
The release of Quavo’s new single comes on the heels of his recent tribute to Takeoff at the BET Awards. Following what many perceived as a falling out between Offset and Quavo, the two reunited for the first time since Culture III to pay tribute to the late Migos member. We’ll keep you posted on more information surrounding the release of Quavo’s forthcoming album. Check out his new single above.
Quotable Lyrics Turn up with shooters with switches go bad Stay with some scammers, my dawg movin’ packs Trappin’, no rapping, my dawg, he fall off, no cap, I’m buyin’ him a brick F*ck on your b**ch then I told her to call off, actually, I’m makin’ her quit
Kevin Hart has questions. And while the answers might never come, we have a video of the comedian dancing drunk at Michael Rubin’s white-out party from last weekend. Hart broke out his best dance moves — at least, the best ones in his inebriated state — to Quavo’s “Hotel Lobby.” The late, great Takeoff is also on the track. Kevin did the hip-hop world justice by being absolutely turnt and having himself a wonderful time with the music.
Kevin Hart posted the video to his Instagram with a hilarious caption. “Welp….My wife showed me this video, and I had so many questions,” he begins the post. He wondered where the Crocs came from, referring to the shoes he had on in the video. (He didn’t come to the party with those.) Hart is also curious as to whose glasses he’s wearing. The third question refers to his wife, Eniko, and why she’s always getting him hyped. But his best question is saved for last: “WHERE ARE MY F*CKING SOCKS AND SHOES?????”
Kevin Hart — who was also seen with Druski at the Rubin party — let his fans know that “My dumbass was gone off that Miiinnnnoooo Liiiinnnnnoooo.” Mino Lino is a reference to Gran Coramino Tequila, which Hart co-founded with Juan Domingo Beckmann. Drunk off his own tequila, hyped up by Eniko (who recorded the video), he and Quavo pointed to the camera, feeling the entire vibe of “Hotel Lobby.”
As for Quavo, he had himself a good time too. He was partying with Tom Brady and Travis Scott earlier in the evening. And the host of the night, Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin, offered a potential answer to all of Kevin Hart’s questions. He commented on the above Insta post, “The answer to your questions is endless shots!!!!” We can give Hart a pass here because it looks like everyone was wilding at this white-out Fourth of July extravaganza.
This year’s BET Awards still has everyone talking. One of the highlights of the evening was Offset and Quavo‘s reunion during their tribute to fallen Migos member, Takeoff.
The performance came after months of rumors that Offset and Quavo had been beefing — rumors that began months before Takeoff’s death this past November. This past Thursday (June 29), Offset took to Instagram live to break down how the performance came together. It seems like there’s nothing but love between him and Quavo.”
“The BET performance was iconic man,” said Offset. “It cleared my soul. Me and my brother Qua, we put that together within 16 hours. Like 15 hours. We land from Paris like at 9 P.M. and go straight to work to figure out how we gon’ put the show together man.”
During rehearsals, the two didn’t sleep, and the secured the performance’s visual components within the span of less than a day. Because of this, Offset deemed the Migos “real stars.”
He also doubled down on the positive sentiments toward Quavo, seemingly assuring fans that there’s no long beef between the two of them.
“Me and Qua stood tall, brother to brother,” Offset said. “You dig what I’m saying? And I appreciate everybody for supporting, man. It was a movie, it was a vibe…And you know, when you put the three heads together, it’s always gon’ be cinematic. It’s always gon’ be the truth. It’s always gon’ be Godly. Thank God for that moment. And like I said, RIP to Take. Y’all know how we coming about my brother. And we did it for Take. And we still don’t take. That’s our legacy. Migos forever. The greatest group to ever do it.”

The generational divide in hip-hop is bigger than its ever been, even as we approach the culture’s 50th anniversary. However, Big Daddy Kane hopes to bridge the gap. During a recent interview on V-103’s The Big Tigger Morning Show, Kane discussed some of his favorite rappers from the 80s, as well as some of the new faces in hip hop. “If we’re talking during that era of late 80s, early 90s, I would say myself, [KRS-One], Rakim, and [Kool G Rap]. It changes with each era,” he explained.
However, he also listed a few of his favorite artists from the 70s who laid the foundation of hip-hop. “There are artists that did great things in their era, so I acknowledge them that way. I mean going all the way back to Melle Mel, Kool Moe Dee, Grandmaster Caz, those cats,” he said. His comments came shortly after his performance at the BET Awards Hip-Hop 50 celebration. Kane performed alongside D-Nice, MC Lyte, The Sugar Hill Gang, and Kid Capri in an homage to the early years of hip-hop. However, the performance also included a few artists that came in the past decade, such as Chief Keef.
Although Kane hasn’t necessarily been active musically in recent years, he’s clearly still keeping his ear to what’s new and fresh. Ultimately, he feels as though there needs to be a better connection between the hip-hop legends and the younger artist who could benefit from their guidance. “To get another 50, I believe that we need to bridge that gap between the older generation and the younger generation,” he said. “We had our shot, we did our thing, we’re still around, and we have a fan base that supports us for our catalog.”
Kane’s already shown love for artists like Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole. However, he explained that he would love to create a rapport with younger acts like Uzi and Kodak Black. “I would love to sit down with the likes of like Lil Uzi Vert or Kodak Black or Migos, any of these cats, just to build. I think that’s what’s important when there can be a connection where the past generation can talk with the future generation and give them game,” he said.
On Sunday, rap fans tuning into the BET Awards were treated to a heartwarming surprise as feuding Migos members Quavo and Offset put aside their differences — at least for one night — to honor their fallen comrade Takeoff. Performing the group’s No. 1 single “Bad N Boujee,” the two Atlanta rappers looked as though not a day had passed since they last shared a stage, even though in reality, it has been over a year.
However, don’t expect the good vibes to continue. According to TMZ, although the duo had privately reconciled months ago, they currently have no plans to continue recording music together. As TMZ notes, neither side has expressed any intentions of continuing to perform or record under the group name Migos in the future — a fact was suggested nearly a year ago during the rollout for Quavo and Takeoff’s separate duo album Only Built For Infinity Links. After all, “Migos” explicitly refers to a trio, as they have insisted in the past, and TMZ’s sources said they would never try to replace Takeoff.
The trio had been more or less defunct for some time, though, as Offset prepped a solo album (still in the works) and Quavo and Takeoff did their own thing. From some of the comments the group made throughout the year, it seemed a rift had formed that the group was quite ready to reconcile. As recently as February, it was reported that Quavo and Offset had gotten into a scuffle at the Grammy Awards when Offset was blocked from joining Quavo’s tribute to Takeoff. While they denied the rumors, a video of Cardi B yelling at someone backstage seemed to insinuate that there was at least some truth to them.
Hopefully, the bad blood is in the rearview, and although we might not get any new Migos tunes in the immediate future, it’s probably more important that the two rappers mend their broken bonds of brotherhood. After all, like Jay-Z said: Nobody wins when the family feuds.
With his unmistakable cadence, unflappable charm, and lyrical prowess, 2 Chainz has carved a unique niche in hip-hop. Rising from the Southern rap scene, he has consistently delivered hits that are raw, catchy, and undeniably entertaining. But he’s not alone in this journey. A wave of similarly styled artists follows in his footsteps, contributing to the rich tapestry of Southern hip-hop.
Gucci Mane should be on your list if you’re searching for rappers like 2 Chainz. Their triplet-flow style, further characterized by fast-paced lyrics set to trap beats, shares much with 2 Chainz’s musical approach. As a trio, they provide a dynamic and diverse sound that 2 Chainz enthusiasts are bound to appreciate.
In the realm of luxury rap, few can compete with Rick Ross. Like 2 Chainz’s, his style is also often characterized by vivid descriptions of a lavish lifestyle, with a voice that carries a captivating blend of authority and charisma. Fans of 2 Chainz would surely find resonance in Ross’s music, particularly in his ability to weave engaging narratives with a laid-back flow.
T.I.: The King Of The South
As one of the pioneers of trap music, T.I.’s influence in Southern hip-hop is irrefutable. His lyricism and storytelling skills also parallel those of 2 Chainz, with both rappers often sharing vivid tales of their experiences. T.I.’s long-standing presence in the rap game and his versatile style make him a fitting addition to this list.
Final Thoughts
While 2 Chainz is a distinctive force in the rap industry, he isn’t alone in his musical journey. The artists listed above, with their similar styles and shared Southern hip-hop roots, have also each contributed to the genre uniquely. They serve as a testament to the diverse range of talent that Southern Rap has to offer.
Whether you’re a long-time fan of 2 Chainz or a newcomer to the genre, exploring the music of these artists can broaden your understanding of the genre and deepen your appreciation of Southern hip-hop. Additionally, much like 2 Chainz’s, their music encapsulates the South’s spirit, with all its grit, resilience, and undeniable swag.
The influence of 2 Chainz and his contemporaries continues to be felt far and wide, proving that Southern hip-hop is more than just a regional phenomenon—it’s a global force to be reckoned with. As these artists continue redefining the genre, fans can look forward to a future filled with innovative sounds, compelling narratives, and hard-hitting beats.
Quavo and Offset reunited at the 2023 BET Awards to pay homage to their fallen Migos bandmate Takeover, marking their first performance together since late in 2021. With an image of Takeover behind them alongside a dance team and some impressive pyrotechnics, the two play-cousins teamed up to perform the group’s No. 1 hit “Bad N Boujee.”
While it remains to be seen whether this means they have put all their differences behind them, it is a more positive turn from the Grammys, where Offset was allegedly blocked from performing with Quavo, leading to an apparent altercation backstage. At the time of Takeoff’s death late last year, the trio had been unofficially broken up for some months, with Quavo and Takeoff releasing a duo album without their third member and hinting that the group wouldn’t be getting back together.
Then Takeoff was shot, leading to Migos entering a limbo where both Quavo and Offset released their own individual tributes to Takeoff but seemed to not be communicating with each other. Fans had no clue the status of the band, even as Offset prepped his own solo album, which he’d previously put on hold in the wake of Takeoff’s death. It seems they’ve buried the hatchet — hopefully permanently — and are moving forward out of love for Takeoff. Even Cardi B was in tears:
Quavo drew a caused quite the commotion in Paris. The rapper’s new “Rocket Power” merchandise line received a massive turnout. It made its official debut on the streets of Paris this week. The official unveiling was part of Paris Fashion Week. Quavo did it big, with the TakeOff-inspired collection appearing in its own shop on Rue Notre-Dame de Nazareth. Hundreds of fans showed up to support the line. Of course, they also wanted to catch a glimpse of the former Migos rapper. Quavo shared some of the highlights on his Instagram. In his post, the rapper captioned the photos with “REAL Rocket Power.” Furthermore, he expressed his gratitude for the fans’ support. He also hinted at future pop-ups in different cities, asking his followers, “What city next?”
Earlier this year, reports surfaced about a physical altercation between Offset and Quavo backstage at the 2023 Grammy Awards. According to TMZ, tensions rose when Offset was asked by the Recording Academy to join Quavo on stage. The pair were supposed to unite for a tribute to TakeOff. However, Quavo apparently refused to allow Offset to participate. Still, the rapper has denied that any physical altercation took place. There was still some sort of drama, though.
No video evidence of the alleged fight between Quavo and Offset was released. However, Entertainment Tonight obtained a clip showing Cardi B yelling at multiple people backstage. Cardi expressed her disapproval to both Offset and Quavo. “Both of y’all wrong! Both of y’all!” she said, chastising them. “This is not right!” She later dismissed reporters’ questions about the incident. During the Grammy Awards, Quavo paid tribute to his late nephew and groupmate by performing “Without You” alongside the Maverick City Music choir during the In Memoriam segment.
In a heartwarming display of unity, Migos rappers Quavo and Offset recently came together to celebrate the late Takeoff’s birthday. The two were seen wearing matching T-shirts featuring the late rapper’s face, surrounded by loved ones at a park gathering. Offset & Quavo Make Amends?
