Six Of The Greatest NBA Player Cameos In Music Videos Of All Time

NBA players and musical artists have always been close with one another. One frequent way that we’ve seen that over the years is music videos, as NBA players have frequently made cameos in them, whether they’re just showing their face for a moment or they’re a main character in the story that an artist is trying to tell.

Today, we wanted to highlight some of our favorite appearances that NBA players have made in music videos over the years. Players from a number of different eras — and songs from a number of different genres — made it on the list, but all of them feature artists making it a point to get some of the biggest names in basketball into their videos.

Kobe Bryant: “Bug-a-Boo” by Destiny’s Child

This wasn’t the only time Kobe linked up with Destiny’s Child — he recorded a verse on a remix of their track “Say My Name.” He does have a cameo in the video for “Bug-a-Boo,” though, as Destiny’s Child — which is trying to get away from a group that is bugging them — dips into a locker room. While going through there, they come across Bryant, who is sitting there and getting ready to play basketball.

Michael Jordan: “Jam” by Michael Jackson

MJ and MJ just had to appear in a music video together at some point, no? The two appear on a basketball court and shoot hoops with one another, and at one point, Michael (Jackson) teaches Michael (Jordan) some dance moves. These might have been the two most famous people in the world when this video came out in 1992, and it’s a pretty remarkable cultural artifact.

DeMar DeRozan: “Not Like Us” by Kendrick Lamar

The newest release on this list, DeRozan was one of the many celebrities who made a cameo in Lamar’s summer anthem that doubled as the high point of his feud with Drake from earlier this year. It turns out DeRozan has known Lamar for quite some time, and while he said he still has love for Drake despite appearing in this video, well, it sure seems like there might be some tension here.

Shaquille O’Neal: “Make ‘Em Say Uhh!” by Master P featuring Fiend, Silkk the Shocker, Mia X & Mystikal

Shaq, as we’ve laid out before, has been in a ton of music videos over the years. His first was the iconic “Make ‘Em Say Uhh!” video, where he sits courtside and looks like he’s having the time of his life as Master P and co. put on a show on the hardwood.

Isiah Thomas, Chris Mullin, and David Robinson: “2 Legit 2 Quit” by MC Hammer

One of the biggest music videos of all time — it’s a little more than 14 and a half minutes long, and is absolutely jam packed with some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment at that time. Names like Deion Sanders, Rickey Henderson, and Wayne Gretzky make cameos, while the NBA is well-represented with two members of the Dream Team and, uh, a third player who was almost on the Dream Team.

Jimmy Butler: “So Much (for) Stardust” by Fall Out Boy

Easily the most … unique video on this list. It features Jimmy Butler dressed up in what I can only describe as an emo cowboy costume and really committing fully to the bit. (The bit, of course, is “Jimmy Butler dressing like this in a Fall Out Boy video.”) There is no one in the NBA quite like Jimmy, and this video is a pretty good example of why that is the case.

Jersey Worn by Michael Jordan When Crossed Over by Allen Iverson to Hit Auction

On March 12, 1997, NBA history was made when rookie Allen Iverson faced off against Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls in a highly anticipated regular season game in Philadelphia. In that game, Iverson put Jordan on skates with a crazy crossover, leading to a mid-range jumpshot.

Iverson had been dazzling opponents since his debut, and this game was no exception. The significance of the matchup is further underscored by the upcoming Sotheby’s auction titled “Colossal: The Ultimate Jordan Collection,” which will feature Jordan’s red Bulls jersey worn during this iconic game.

According to The Athletic, Iverson’s memorabilia will be included; the auction’s title was inspired by Iverson’s memories of visiting Sotheby’s. Reflecting on the game, Iverson recalled recognizing the opportunity to challenge the GOAT, saying, “I told my teammates at Georgetown that if I ever had a chance to try it out on the greatest player ever, I would want to put my move to the test.”

The jersey, worn by Jordan approximately 17 times during the 1996-97 championship season, is expected to fetch between $4-6 million, making it one of the most valuable pieces of sports memorabilia ever.

Reports have confirmed that basketball legend Michael Jordan is suing NASCAR and it’s CEO Jim France, calling them “monopolistic bullies.”

Jordan’s 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports filed a lawsuit in a federal court in North Carolina yesterday(October 2) after the two teams say they refused to sign updated pacts with NASCAR over “unfair terms.”

Both teams demanded more when it came to extending their charter agreements beyond 2024, but neither MASCAR or France was willing to negotiate their share of the revenue. Both teams claim the org. pressured them into agreeing to a “take-it-or-leave-it” offer that if they did not agree to, they could risk losing their charters in the future.

Both teams filed a suit and an injunction that would allow them to compete in the 2025 season without releasing their antitrust claims by putting pen to France’s paper.

Both teams said that they wanted to stifle France’s and NASCAR’s “unlawful monopoly power.”

“I love the sport of racing and the passion of our fans,” Jordan said of the lawsuit in a statement, “but the way NASCAR is run today is unfair to teams, drivers, sponsors, and fans. Today’s action shows I’m willing to fight for a competitive market where everyone wins.”

Jordan’s 23XI Racing co-owner Denny Hamlin said, “When I look around, I see that the best and most competitive sports in the world understand that when teams thrive, fans benefit, and that everyone who invests in making the sport a success should share fairly in that success. With the right changes, we can certainly make that a reality in racing.”

Cam’ron & Mase Hilariously Roast Michael Jordan’s Son And Shade Michael Irvin In The Process

Cam’ron and Mase have one of the best sports talk shows out right now. Overall, It Is What It Is has proven to be must-watch programming. Moreover, it was the catalyst for these two to reconcile their differences and become best friends again. Over the past couple of years, the show has been a massive hit and the fans absolutely adore it. However, they were recently on a bit of a hiatus to enjoy the summer break and get some much-deserved rest.

Now, the show is officially back as the NFL season is about to commence this weekend. Fans could not be more excited for the next six months, and It Is What It Is will be providing commentary throughout. In fact, on Monday, they had Michael Irvin as a guest. Following their segment with Irvin, they discussed the recent images of Michael Jordan’s son Marcus appearing to snort what looks like cocaine. Given Irvin’s past issues with cocaine, Cam’ron and Mase had a moment in which they couldn’t stop laughing.

We are just happy to have them back in time for the sports season.

Michael Jordan’s Son Marcus Seen Sniffing White Substance In France

Marcus Jordan drew attention for a less than stellar reason on August 7. Photos of the basketball player made the rounds on social media, and they presented in a seemingly compromised situation. The photos in question showed Jordan sitting next to a group of friends at an outdoor table. Then, he appears to use a metal device to snort a white substance. There has been no confirmation on what the substance is, but it definitely looks like something that’s illegal.

This is not the first time that Marcus Jordan’s partying habits have come under fire. In 2010, Jordan sparked an investigation for spending $35,000 at Haze at Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. He even tweeted about the trip, which he attended with his college basketball team. “Last night was stupid… 35K at Haze,” he wrote. “Totals 50K something the whole day.” The tweet was taken down, however. Marcus Jordan went as far as to issue an apology to Fox Sports. “I didn’t mean it the way it came across,” Jordan said. “My family and friends know the type of person I am.” MGM Resorts International organization was still investigated, though, citing the fact that Jordan was a minor.

Marcus Jordan’s Lifestyle Has Made Headlines Before

Marcus Jordan, the son of the legendary Michael Jordan, was also arrested in 2012. Bleacher Report stated that the athlete was found arguing with two women at an Embassy Suites in Ohama, Nebraska. Jordan had been drinking, and the police described him as “animated, intoxicated and uncooperative” upon his arrest. Jordan was released shortly after, but fans may recall his unique mugshot. The athlete decided to smile in it.

Marcus Jordan was photographed in France with his new girlfriend. The athlete’s previous relationship with Larsa Pipen, however, is still making headlines. Pipen, the ex-wife of Jordan’s father’s teammate, Scottie Pipen, talked about the break up during an appearance on the Amy & T.J. podcast. “We’re on a different journey,” she explained. “I feel like I have to be true to who I am, what I’m doing and what he’s doing, you know? I want him to be happy…. It’s where we are right now.” Pipen also cited the age gap as a difficult factor to overcome. Marcus Jordan has not yet commented on the viral white substance photos.

After the late great Jerry West passed away at 86, today, as you can expect tributes have been pouring in from not just the basketball sphere but everywhere. NBA Hall of Famer Michael Jordan sent in a wonderful note regarding his sincere friendship with Jerry West.

On ESPN’s First Take, Stephen A. Smith read the text from MJ live.

“I am so deeply saddened at the news of Jerry’s passing. He was truly a friend and a mentor. Like an older brother to me,” Jordan wrote. “I valued his friendship and knowledge. I always wished I could’ve played against him as a competitor, but the more I came to know him, I wish I had been his teammate. I admired his basketball insights. He and I shared many similarities to how we approached the game. He will be forever missed. My condolences to his wife, Karen, and sons. Rest in Peace, Logo.”

Who was Jerry West? He played in the NBA for the Los Angeles Lakers for 14 years. West averaged 27.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game. He helped the Lakers win one NBA title. Anthony Edwards Wants The Michael Jordan Comparisons To Stop

Anthony Edwards, a rising star in the NBA, has made a significant impact. After leading his team to a sweep against his favorite player, Kevin Durant, and the Phoenix Suns, the young 2-guard now faces the defending champs. Edwards and the Timberwolves made a bold statement by winning game 1 against Nikola Jokic. Edwards’ 43 points in the win marked a significant milestone, making him the second 22-year-old to score back-to-back 40-point games since Kobe Bryant. Such rare achievements are why Edwards is receiving high praise.

Anthony Edwards has been drawing comparisons to arguably the greatest layer of all time, Michael Jordan. It’s easy to see why. Edwards is a ridiculous athlete. He is relentless on the court with an unmatched drive to win. He has all the same moves Jordan has. Additionally, he

looks like MJ, which many fans have pointed out. Edwards sets the court ablaze with his play and is compared to the greatest ever to do it. Ant is saving, and everyone should pump the brakes on the MJ comparisons.

Anthony Edwards On The Micheal Jordan Comparisons

Anthony Edwards wants the Michael Jordan comparisons to stop. He said, “I want it to stop. He’s the greatest of all time. I can’t be compared to him.” It’s a humble answer from a player whose game is far from humble. Ant is right, in a sense. People can get carried away with comparisons, and then when players don’t meet their expectations, they turn on them. So, if Edwards comes up short, fans can say, “he is not MJ!” when they are the ones who make that comparison to him.

It is not just fans and reporters who compare Edwards to MJ; players are, too. Patrick Beverley said it two years ago. If Edwards beats the Nuggets and somehow wills his team to a chip this year, then those comparisons might be too conservative. Overall, Edwards is a young, exciting player, and the Wolves Nuggets series is going to be incredible.

Charles Barkley Speaks On Michael Jordan’s Son Marcus Dating Larsa Pippen

Charles Barkley is busy covering the NBA playoffs, but he stopped by Shannon Sharpe’s podcast, Club Shay Shay. The podcast is a breeding ground for viral moments and social media discourse. Barkley was asked about his old friend Michael Jordan. Barkely used to be close to Micheal, but the two of them grew apart and never reconciled as friends. Sharpe asked Barkley about Jordan’s son Marcus Jordan dating MJ’s teammate Scottie Pippen’s ex-wife Larsa. All in all, it’s safe to say Chuck isn’t a fan of the whole situation.

Marcus Jordan and Larsa Pippen have been a celebrity couple for over a year. Earlier this year, it looked like the couple had split, but they have since rekindled their romance. Marcus and Larsa appeared together on the reality TV competition show Traitors, so they are clearly trying to get the most out of their relationship. Charles Barkley is not having it. Chuck explained how bad he felt for MJ and Scottie Pippen when Shannon Sharpe asked about the situation. The Hall of Famer and NBA personality is not one to mince words, and he didn’t hold back how he felt.

Charles Barkley “Feels Bad” For Michel Jordan and Scottie Pippen

Charles Barkley doesn’t approve of Jordan’s son and Pippen’s ex-wife being involved romantically. Especially following the fallout between Scottie and MJ. “I feel bad for Michael, I feel bad for Scottie,” Chuck said to Sharpe. “That is so messy. I don’t like messy because when it’s messy, everybody has an opinion on it. And you know, the internet is not a place for messy.” Chuck brought out the fact that children are involved, which complicates matters further since they might become the target of vicious individuals on the internet. He concluded, “I just hate messy and it’s just really messy. And there are no winners, there’s only losers.”

The Inside the NBA analyst went on to say that, in his opinion, MJ and Scottie’s friendship would never be the same. The fact that they shared six NBA titles and have beefed with each other is one thing. Add on the fact that Jordan’s son is dating Pippen’s ex-wife. Chuck told Shannon that winning a championship means you’re bonded for life. Barkley said, “If I had won six championships with somebody, I would think, ‘Man, we blood brothers for life.’” Ultimately, it seems like Larsa Pippen and Marcus Jordan are going to be a thing for a while.

NBA Players Vote On Who Is The GOAT: LeBron James Or Michael Jordan?

The GOAT debate is alive and well. Fans constantly go back and forth on who the greatest basketball player of all time is. The two names that have been battling it out for GOAT status for years now are, of course, Michael Jordan and LeBron James. LeBron’s career has been one of trying to eclipse the greatness of Michael Jorda. Additionally, LeBron is still playing and adding to his resume. Some believe that no matter what LeBron does with the time he has left, he can’t match Jordan’s accomplishments. In any case, they are the two names brought up in the debate, with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar usually coming in third.

The argument stays around because it’s interesting and fans are obsessed, but it’s also fun. We know fans are generally split, but what about current NBA players? The Athletic released its annual player polls that asked players various questions. The poll asks players questions like: who is the most overrated player in the league? Who is The Finals favorite? This year, they asked who the GOAT is, and the results are very interesting.

Is LeBron James or Michael Jordan The GOAT

NBA players have voted Michael Jordan the greatest basketball player ever, with LeBron James coming in second place. The vote was very close, with MJ receiving 45.8% of the vote and LeBron receiving 42.1% of the vote. Additionally, Kobe Bryant received 9.8% of the vote. Kobe’s impact on the game can’t be understated. A lot of players like Jayson Tatum and Devin Booker revere him. Steph Curry got a couple of votes from his teammates, and Magic Johnson also received some love. Fans have just looked at the Paul Peirce votes and rolled their eyes.

LeBron is still in the league, and NBA players are still competitors, but almost half of the league thinks he is the GOAT. MJ and LeBron are going to continue to be a debate for years to come. Additionally, when LeBron finally retires, all the evidence will be in, and resumes will be finalized. LeBron is currently facing off against the Denver Nuggets in the first game of their first-round playoff matchup. The Lakers lost 103-114 to the defending champions. Undoubtedly, LeBron and the Lakers have an uphill battle and look to equalize the series tonight.
