Megan Thee Stallion Gives Show-Stopping First Performance Since Tory Lanez Verdict

Moreover, she performed at her hometown of Houston at the March Madness Music Festival AT&T Black Party. Not only was this her first performance of the year, but also her first since her highly publicized case against Tory Lanez came to a guilty end for the Canadian star. While that case is still developing on his end, it’s clear that Megan is moving on to bigger and better things. For example, her collaboration with Doja Cat, “Taste Me,” is rumored to be released next Friday.

Furthermore, the “NDA” MC received a lot of love from her day ones while playing for Houston, both in person and on social media. What’s more is that her return even prompted some old wounds to heal up, albeit from her opponents. 1501 label boss Carl Crawford praised her for the comeback despite their industry feud and back-and-forths. Last month, the former MLB star issued somewhat of an apology to Megan Thee Stallion, and his latest message about the festival indicated a new album and world tour on the way.

Megan The Stallion Kills Her First Performance After Break

“Unfortunately, me and Megan haven’t talked since 2019,” Crawford remarked. “We been going through what y’all seen online. That’s unfortunate, too, because I never wanted to go have a situation where I was going back and forth with her on the internet. I never had problems with Megan Thee Stallion, but this social media stuff turned it really sour. You take this social media stuff out of it, and we won’t have a problem. You won’t hear me mention Megan Thee Stallion’s name unless it’s a big-time interview.”

Meanwhile, the 28-year-old is also making massive moves in the film industry, according to reports online. Megan Thee Stallion and Mariah Carey are the latest icons to headline the stage at the Los Angeles-based Pride Month concert. An annual staple, Pride in the Park includes a range of live shows. Musicians, artists, and other entertainers all show up to entertain attendees. Sadly, the event was canceled two years in a row due to the COVID pandemic. In 2022, the celebration made its triumphant return to LA State Historic Park. It featured performances from artists like Christina Aguilera and Anitta. This year promises to be no less exciting with headliners like Meg and Mariah. Both artists have rabid fanbases and a large presence in the LGBTQ+ community.

Mariah has not been the subject of much drama recently, but Megan Thee Stallion has certainly been making headlines. She has recently been embroiled in a highly publicized legal battle against Tory Lanez. In 2020, she accused Lanez of shooting her in the foot. The two had been leaving a party together and got into an altercation, resulting in the injury. It was a long road for Meg, but it was worth it. As of December, a jury found Lanez guilty of the crime. Subsequently, he has now filed a motion for retrial. If the original verdict is upheld, Lanez will be looking at 22 years of prison time. He will also face deportation to his home country of Canada once his sentence has been served. The outcome is still unknown, but Meg is already moving on. Both Mariah and Megan took to social media to announce their co-headlining gig. Both artists seem to be in good places in their lives, respectively. Mariah recently celebrated her 54th birthday on vacation with her boyfriend and her kids. She was beaming in videos and pictures posted to her Instagram, where she showed love to her fans and family. In Megan’s case, her comeback is in full effect after she took a small hiatus during the court case against Lanez. Though the battle is ongoing, the December verdict was a huge win for her. Megan Thee Stallion is having quite the homecoming. Tonight (March 30) the “Pressurelicious” rapper threw the first pitch at the Houston Astros game at Minute Maid Park in her hometown. Today is opening day for the Major League Baseball season, and the Astros are opening up with an intense game against the Chicago White Sox.

In a clip shared by ESPN, Meg is seen rocking an Astros jersey and a Hot Girl chain. She throws the first pitch to infielder David Hensley, who smoothly catches the ball.

While at the stadium, Meg was seen snapping pictures with fellow Houston rapper Scarface.

Tomorrow, Meg will perform at the AT&T Block Party in Houston’s Discovery Green park as part of the NBA’s Men’s Final Four weekend. This will mark her first performance of 2023.

“The AT&T Block Party Concert is gonna be such a vibe, and I can’t wait to get back on stage in the city where it all began,” said Meg in a statement ahead of the show. “I’m looking forward to seeing my Hotties and putting on an unforgettable show for them.”

Her fans supported the retreat, who understood that the Traumazine rapper needed a few moments outside of the prying eyes of critics. When she returned, Megan Thee Stallion served big hair at Vanity Fair‘s coveted Oscar’s afterparty. It was there that she confirmed she was working on a new album. Since then, the Houston Hottie has hopped from one event to the next.

Today, Hip Hop fans had their eyes on the Houston Astros game—not only because they love baseball, but because Meg was throwing the first pitch. She was decked out in an almost all-white ensemble, complete with her Astros jersey. It isn’t uncommon for rappers to take to the pitcher’s mound; Houston native Travis Scott also did so. Megan looked great as the crowd looked on, making silly faces to the cameras that circled her closely. Then, it was her time to shine.

Megan Thee Stallion Laughs As She Misses The Mark

The announcer remarked that Megan was seen practicing, which didn’t look so promising. However, she was all smiles as the crowd anticipated the first throw. It was a little far off to the left, but it was all in good fun. The hitmaker received hugs from players and cheers from the crowd for her attempt. Meanwhile, fellow Texas native and country star Cody Johnson delivered the national anthem before the Astros faced off against the Chicago White Sox. At the time of this publication, neither team has scored just yet.

Megan Thee Stallion is reportedly in her hometown because she has a big show tomorrow (March 31). The NCAA March Madness Music Festival is taking over the weekend, and Meg is set to hit the stage for the first time this year. Yesterday, 1501 Certified Entertainment even waved a white flag in an open letter from the desk of Carl Crawford. Lauryn Hill And Megan Thee Stallion Announced As 2023 Essence Festival Headliners

Lauryn Hill and Megan Thee Stallion have been tapped to headline the 2023 Essence Festival in New Orleans. The pair will perform alongside artists like Monica, Wizkid, and Coco Jones. They are in good company, as previous headliners have been iconic artists like Janet Jackson, Missy Elliott, Mary J. Blige, and Pharrell. Both Lauryn Hill and Megan Thee Stallion are iconic in their own right, so they should feel right at home among the previous headliners. It’s a cause for celebration for both artists, albeit for very different reasons.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the release of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, a legendary debut album. It sold more than 10 million copies in the United States alone, earning it a diamond certification. Rolling Stone called it the best rap album ever. It also debuted at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. For those who don’t follow Lauryn Hill, it may come as a bit of a surprise that she has never released another studio album. Professional and personal troubles led her to shy away from the limelight, but her debut album is still considered by many to be one of the best of all time. To commemorate the 25 years since its release, Hill will be performing the album in full at the festival.

Another Headlining Gig For Megan Thee Stallion

The announcement of Megan Thee Stallion as a headliner is another win for the artist, who has also been announced as a headliner for LA’s 2023 Pride In The Park Festival. In December, her trial against Tory Lanez wrapped up when he was found guilty of shooting her in 2020. The pair had been leaving a party at Kylie Jenner’s house when they got into an argument, which resulted in the shooting. So, although Megan hasn’t necessarily disappeared from the public eye, much of the news surrounding recently has been related to the Tory Lanez incident. Earlier today, Lanez filed for a retrial. If the previous verdict is upheld, he could be facing more than 20 years in prison; Megan, however, is moving forward with her life. In addition to her headlining gigs, she also announced recently that she is working on new music.

The Essence Festival began in 1995 and has since become a New Orleans staple. The list of esteemed artists that have been hosted at the festival since its inception is intimidating, with performances by everyone from Destiny’s Child to Aretha Franklin. The 2023 lineup is already shaping up to be a good one, but it seems that Essence has more even announcements to come. As the fourth anniversary of the Safdie Brothers’ Uncut Gems approaches, film fanatics are raving over an exciting tidbit of gossip from within the industry. After tapping The Weeknd to play himself in their Adam Sandler-led thriller, the creatives may be working with yet another recording artist in their upcoming project – Megan Thee Stallion. According to Deadline, the Houston-born rap diva may be joining the cast, alongside the Grown Ups star, who many are eager to see work with the Safdies once again.

Many of the project’s details remain under wraps at this time, though we do know it’s been produced for Netflix and will take place “in the world of sports memorabilia.” Safdie siblings Josh and Benny wrote the screenplay, which has incredibly high expectations following the sweeping (albeit snubbed) sensation that was Uncut Gems. While Thee Stallion is best known for her tantalizing twerking and braggadocious bars, this rumoured upcoming role certainly won’t be her first venture into acting.

As far as films go, the world is anxiously awaiting the “Hot Girl Summer” hitmaker’s theatrical debut in A24’s upcoming musical comedy, F*cking Identical Twins.
