Meechy Darko Gives Fans A Two-Pack With “360° Resurrection “Tab #2″”

Probably the most distinctive voice out of the Flatbush Zombies group is Meechy Darko. That is saying a lot, considering how unique this collection of rappers is. All three members have a solo career on top of their collaborative discography. Meechy is the second most recent of the trio to drop a solo project. His came out in 2022 and it was titled, Gothic Luxury.

However, it appears to be that the growly-voiced rapper is prepping another hot set of tracks. According to Genius’ annotation, this new two-pack is going to appear on a project called, Doses. Darko gave a hint about this title in an Instagram post from September 27. “No Wild roll out or non of thattt… Just some Music 4 The Fans Dem & Next week Imma drop 2 Songs Week after that…3 Songs.” He continues to tease, “Plus Yall Gonna need Somethin’ To listen to Until Album 2 is Done. But Yall gonna get these Doses Till Then.”

Quotable Lyrics From “360° Resurrection “Tab #2″”:

Publicity sells, but so do caskets
I’m a fire spitter like I lip-lock with the Devil
Countin’ ammunition, then I count my blessings
Shoot from the hip, the n**** died like the westerns
I’m speedin’, doin’ a hundred, even though the road’s a dead end
I don’t got no clarity, it’s foggy in my headspace

Meechy Darko Shows He Is ‘The Truth’ In His Fiery Funk Flex Freestyle

Meechy Darko is gearing up for the release of his solo debut album Gothic Luxury, and what better way than a freestyle at one of the classic hip-hop stations in New York City? The Flatbush Zombies member stopped by Funk Flex’s Hot 97 show Tuesday (August 16) to lay some heavy bars over Pharoahe Monch’s “The Truth.”

Darko had no interest in long talking, and instead got right to the rapping with “Easy to turn from self-reflective to self-destructive/ But when you diss my sh** even the robbers love it/ B****es love my aura, then they hear my story/ If I f**k they mom’s right invite ’em to the orgy.” If the cover art and tracklist reveal a few weeks ago didn’t get the momentum going, this performance sure did.

Gothic Luxury will arrive August 26 via Durt Cobain and Loma Vista. The album, executive produced by Dot Da Genius, will feature Busta Rhymes, Black Thought, Freddie Gibbs, Denzel Curry, and more. So far, Darko has shared “On God” featuring Gibbs and A-Trak, “Get Lit Or Die Tryin’,” and “Kill Us All (K.U.A.).”

Meechy Darko Recruits Freddie Gibbs And A-Trak For ‘On God’ And Shares His ‘Gothic Luxury’ Tracklist

Flatbush Zombies‘ Meechy Darko is dropping his album Gothic Luxury later this month and today, he shared the tracklist and cover art to give fans a glimpse of what to expect from his solo debut. Gothic Luxury, dropping August 26 on Loma Vista Recordings, will boast 13 tracks (including the previously released “Kill Us All” and “Get Lit Or Die Tryin’“) supported by appearances from Black Thought, Busta Rhymes, Denzel Curry, Kirk Knight, and Vita. To accompany the reveal, Meechy also released the album’s third single, “On God,” which features Freddie Gibbs and A-Trak. You can check that out above.

Gothic Luxury, which features production by Dot Da Genius, Jay Versace, and Tyler Dopps, was inspired by the death of Meechy’s father in 2020. Ryan Simms was shot to death by Miami police officers in January after allegedly threatening them with a knife. One officer was hospitalized with a stab wound. In response, Meechy issued a statement reading:

My heart is shattered. Never ever in my life felt pain like this before. On January 12th My father was Shot & Killed by Miami PD. I’m trying to stay strong and be tough for him. ’m filled with so many emotions right now. I don’t want to come on here for any type of sympathy. I want to spread this message. To Any and everyone out there dealing with Mental illness. Please get help. To Any and everyone out there that has a loved one dealing with mental illness. Please help them. It’s not an easy road but it’s one that needs to be taken. I wish there was a handbook or some type of guide for this. This has been a Battle that My Family and I have been dealing with for over a decade, suffering in silence. I used to think there was strength in that. Like a badge of honor or something…like I’m some kinda warrior cus I can take the burden and not ever have to say much about it. Hmmm…Wonder who I learned that super power from. I was wrong though. We was wrong. Real strength is dropping the veil.

You can see the Gothic Luxury tracklist, due on 8/26, below.

Meechy Darko Lives Recklessly In His Nihilistic ‘Get Lit Or Die Tryin’ Video

Get busy living or get busy dying, the choice is yours. Brooklyn wild man Meechy Darko’s latest Gothic Luxury single “Get Lit Or Die Tryin’” takes its inspiration from this quote, as well as the philosophy of 50 Cent‘s star-making first album, Get Rich Or Die Tryin’, as well as a sample (from “Hustler’s Ambition”). The gravel-voiced Flatbush Zombie demonstrates just how intense this nihilistic outlook can get in the song’s black-and-white video, which follows Meechy and his gang as they live recklessly, robbing gangsters and challenging each other to a game of Russian roulette.

“Get Lit Or Die Tryin’” is the second single from Gothic Luxury, Meechy’s upcoming solo debut album. He announced the album a month ago with the defiant video for “Kill Us All (K.U.A.),” a (justifiably) paranoid anthem detailing the systemic oppression of Black Americans at the hands of the government and its agents. That backdrop is the overall inspiration for Gothic Luxury, which he calls “the most personal thing I’ve ever done.” “I’m in an extremely soul-stirring part of my life right now,” Meechy explained in a statement. “Who I was yesterday may not be who I am tomorrow. I’m not who I was last week. There’s no telling who I’ll be next year or the year after, so it’s very important to capture this while I can still feel.”

Meechy Darko Launches His Solo Debut Album Rollout With The Defiant ‘Kill Us All’

The man with the best rap voice in the business, Meechy Darko of Flatbush Zombies, has announced his solo debut album, Gothic Luxury, is coming on August 26. He launches the first salvo today with the release of the intense, trippy video for the defiant lead single, “Kill Us All.” Over a suitably menacing backdrop, Meechy ruminates on America’s seemingly endless campaign of terror of Black American citizens, from derailing the Black Panther movement of the 1960s to the media framing Blaming people as inherently violent. He isn’t saying much we don’t know but the passion behind his bars makes them all the more poignant.

Gothic Luxury is executive produced by Dot Da Genius and was recorded in the wake of Meechy’s father being killed by Miami police in 2020. “I had no choice but to make this the most personal thing I’ve ever done because fortunately or unfortunately, I’m in an extremely soul-stirring part of my life right now,” Meechy explained in a statement. “Who I was yesterday may not be who I am tomorrow. I’m not who I was last week. There’s no telling who I’ll be next year or the year after, so it’s very important to capture this while I can still feel.”

Meechy is the second member of Flatbush to announce a solo album after Erick The Architect. We’re waiting on you, Juice!
