The bad news continues to pour in for Jonathan Majors. The actor is currently battling a domestic violence charge and has lost his management and public relations representation. In addition, his trip to the Met Gala will not happen.
According to Deadline, Majors was set to attend the star-studded benefit gala with high fashion brand Valentino. The two sides have now “mutually agreed” not to have the actor in attendance.
This year’s Met Gala will be co-chaired by Dua Lipa, Roger Federer, Michaela Coel, and Penélope Cruz alongside Vogue’s Anna Wintour. The event will be on May 1 and will salute late fashion icon, Karl Lagerfeld.
Management firm Entertainment 360 has let Majors go, according to Deadline. The decision came three weeks after his arrest, citing the company did not want to have affiliations with the actor’s behavior.
Majors also lost representation from his PR company, The Lede Company, which happened last month. Neither company offered a comment on their decision.
Jonathan Majors no longer has a manager or publicist, as both dropped him in the fall of his domestic violence arrest in New York City.

Marvel is also reportedly prepared to replace the actor if the investigation results return unfavorable. Marvel insider Jeff Snieder revealed that Majors, who is currently planned to be a key component of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, could be replaced, citing Majors’ team and Marvel aligned with a plan for handling the issue.
One of the names floating as an option is Snowfall’s Damson Idris.
“Even though there hasn’t been any movement on the Jonathan Majors front, I’ve heard that’s the kind of actor, who, like, if Jonathan Majors got the boot as Kang, someone like Damson Idris is the type of the person that [Marvel] may look at to replace him if that, in fact, happens,” said Sneider.
The next edition in the MCU is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, set for release on May 5, 2023, but Deadline notes Majors has already shot the second season of the Disney Plus series Loki. Deadline also notes they have heard no rumors of dropping the actor.

Comic book movies are all the rage now. While some superhero fatigue may be setting in, that hasn’t stopped studios from going all in on the genre. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is more significant than any franchise, and the DC Extended Universe is rebooting and already has an eight to 10-year plan for the franchise. Even beyond that, comic-based movies are here to stay.
As such, many comic book characters have been adapted to the big screen (or the small screen in a few cases). Even ones that no one would expect, such as M.O.D.O.K. or Steppenwolf, have been brought to life in various ways. Nevertheless, with the growing interest in continuing to develop comic-centered features, there are plenty of movies to be made. Which characters should be adapted for these comic book movies? Read through our choices below and let us know your picks.
Comic Book Movies: Nova Project Coming Soon?
Nova is one major character that Marvel Studios has yet to touch. They introduced the Nova Corps inGuardians of the Galaxy, but Richard Rider’s nor Sam Alexander’s Nova has shown up. That being said, a Nova project is allegedly in the works. However, some Marvel projects have gotten scrapped. It’s unclear what the future of Nova is, but he deserves a movie of his own.
A Good Green Lantern Film
The Ryan Reynolds-led Green Lantern film is pretty bad. It barely qualifies as a movie for Green Lantern because of its reputation among comic book lovers. Perhaps it’s not Hal Jordan’s Green Lantern that gets a movie this time. There are plenty of interesting Green Lanterns out there- including Jon Stewart. Making a good Green Lantern movie led by Jon Stewart should be a significant priority for Gunn’s DCEU.
Could The Lobo Rumors Be True?
Lobo has been rumored to be coming to the big screen for a while now, but nothing concrete. Jason Momoa is a popular fancast for the role despite already being Aquaman. Nevertheless, one of DC’s most brutal characters needs his time in the limelight. After Deadpool, Logan, and Joker proved that studios could make ultra-violent superhero movies, Lobo should have been next in line. Perhaps he will eventually get a movie because he absolutely deserves it.
Silver Surfer Comic Book Movies Would Be Excellent
Silver Surfer is one of the most interesting comic book characters out there. Despite that, he’s only been featured in one of the countless Marvel movies to date. He’s often seen only as Galactus’ Herald, but there’s much more to him. He has an exciting backstory, extraordinary powers, and much to bring to the table. Comic book movies exploring his life and his origin story would probably be outstanding.
The Bat Family Needs More Focus
There have been precious few sightings of the Bat Family on-screen. A few members have been seen in movies like Batman & Robin, but that’s not enough attention to some of the most iconic DC characters. Whether as a team movie or several individual comic book movies, the various Robins (Tim Drake, Damian Wayne, Jason Todd, Dick Grayson) and their other superhero names (Nightwing, Red Hood, etc.) need to be on-screen.
Additionally, so does Batgirl. The canceled Batgirl film, which DC called “unreleasable,” was almost finished but will never see the light of day. That should be released, or a new one should be made. Batgirl shouldn’t waste away in the archives of DC Studios.
Why Isn’t Gambit In Any Comic Book Movies?
Gambit was almost a film. It reportedly starred Channing Tatum before being canceled. Tatum has been outspoken about how heartbreaking that cancelation was. Despite their already being a vast X-Men universe, Gambit has never even shown up.
There have been numerous X-Men films about different characters, and Gambit hasn’t even been mentioned by anyone. The MCU is adapting X-Men into their universe at some point (Ms. Marvel is confirmed to be a mutant in that universe already, and a variant Professor X showed up), so they need to bring Gambit to life. Tatum may have missed his chance. Nevertheless, someone should play him in live-action.
If Blue Beetle Is Coming, Why Not Booster Gold?
Blue Beetle is coming out in theaters this August. With that happening, there’s no reason a Booster Gold movie can’t come out next. Booster Gold and Blue Beetle have formed one of the most hilarious and iconic duos in DC Comics, so it would be an absolute shame not to adapt that to the big screen. James Gunn’s propensity for comedy and absurdity in his films means that not using Booster Gold would waste his skills. He would fit right in with a Gunn film, so there’s no reason it shouldn’t be considered.
Martian Manhunter Needs To Come To A Real Film
Whether or not anyone likes Zack Snyder‘s original vision for the DC Universe, no one can deny that he had a lot of ideas. He planted seeds in many of his films, some of which came to fruition in his non-canon Justice League from 2021. One such seed was the appearance of the Martian Manhunter. He was a character in Man of Steel but didn’t appear as his alien self until ZSJL.
One of the most powerful and exciting characters in DC needs to have a movie sooner or later. If Gunn wants to lead up to a Justice League team-up movie, then he needs to include Martian Manhunter. He’s an integral part of any Justice League team. He is also a character many DC fans have been dying to see.
There have been plenty of comic book movies over the years, and they all feature quite a few comic book characters. Still, there are vast universes out there that haven’t been explored and tons of excellent characters just dying to be put in their own major project. These characters would be a perfect place to start.
The Marvel machine is still going strong. With Guardians of the Galaxy 3 loaded, Marvel has released the first trailer for The Marvels, which will star Brie Larson.
The film is a sequel to Captain Marvel and will bring in Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau from WandaVision and Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, a.k.a Ms. Marvel from the show of the same name. The trio will form a woman superhero trio.
The synopsis reads:
“Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe.”
According to Variety, the film will be directed by Nia DaCosta, who is making her Marvel debut. You can see the official trailer below.
Samuel L. Jackson is the most wanted person on the planet. Well, in the new Secret Invasion trailer, he is. The series was announced more than two years ago, in December of 2020, and is set to be released on June 21. Marvel has kept much of the story under wraps. Little information has been released, as is always the case. What we do know, however, is that Secret Invasion will revolve around a war being fought in the shadows with an alien race. Jackson’s Nick Fury will be at the center of the action, having returned to earth after being “off planet” and allowing one of the Skrulls to act as a stand-in for him. Fans of the comics have noted a large shift in the story in that the Skrulls have been made peaceful. In the comics, however, they are quite the opposite.
In the Marvel comics, the Secret Invasion plot was a large crossover event that began in 2008. The story revealed that the Skrulls, a species of shape-shifting aliens, had been infiltrating Earth for years and had replaced important people with their own operatives. The Skrulls were able to duplicate the memories and personalities of the individuals they were replacing in addition to their external features. The plot line had major implications for the entire superhero community. It showed that many cherished characters in the Marvel universe had been supplanted by Skrulls.
A Return To Fighting Form For Marvel?
The Secret Invasion trailer features a noticeably darker tone than much of the recent material we’ve seen from the MCU. The gritty cinematography and color grading gives the air of an espionage thriller, much in the same vein as Captain America: Winter Soldier. While the trailer is promising, is Secret Invasion a return to fighting form for Marvel? In recent years, fans and critics alike have noted a sharp drop in quality in the MCU, both in storytelling and filmmaking. The newest phase seems to lack direction and focus. As such, it’s unclear what the future holds for Marvel, particularly with the poor box office performance of Ant-Man: Quantamania. The film was supposed to be the big introduction of the newest Avengers villain, Kang. However, it appears that very few actually cared. Still, with Jackson’s Fury as the protagonist, we can at least expect great character work.
In addition to Jackson’s Nick Fury, the show will feature other recognizable characters like Cobie Smulders’ Maria Hill and Don Cheadle’s James Rhodes. The show adds some new faces into the mix, as well. In typical Marvel fashion, they have cast some of the top talents in the industry in the roles. Two notable additions are Olivia Coleman and Emilia Clarke. Coleman, an Oscar winner and all-around celebrated actress, portrays an old ally of Fury’s named Sonya Falsworth. Clarke, who played Danaerys on HBO’s Game of Thrones, is G’iah, a member of the Skrull species. With top-tier talent rounding out the roster, Secret Invasion is shaping up to be one of Marvel’s best outings yet.
No one loves the Green Goblin more than Willem Dafoe. In an interview with Inverse, he went on record stating that he would be down to star as the beloved villain for a third time. The actor was mostly speaking with the outlet to promote the new thriller film he is starring in. Titled Inside, his newest project centers around an art thief who becomes trapped inside a penthouse. Of course, the topic eventually landed on his time on the Spider-Man set.
2002 is the first time that Dafoe brought the character to life for superhero movie lovers. Apart from showing his acting chops, the role sparked an ongoing meme trend that is still relevant (and hilarious) to this day. Almost 20 years later, the 67-year-old revised his role as the green menace in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Although less meme material was involved, fans were still thrilled to see their favorite bad guy back in action. Still, few were more thrilled than the performer himself.
Willem Dafoe Lives For The Complexity Of The Green Goblin
According to Dafoe, the Green Goblin – or Norman Osborne’s complexity is why he enjoys taking on the complicated character so much. There is a famous Jekyll-and-Hyde approach to the role that sparked the interest of fans and actors alike. When asked if he would be willing to reprise the role, the Wisconsin native answered, “If everything was right, sure. I mean that’s a great role. I like the fact that it’s a double role, both times.” While the possibility of a third on-screen appearance is unlikely, it’s not impossible. As fans know, the Marvel Universe leaves a lot of room for new stories and developments to brew.
Since his first rendition of the famous villain, Willem Dafoe has expanded his portfolio significantly. The films he’s starred in have varied in genre and tone, however, it’s apparent he has a knack for portraying evil and bizarre characters. Aside from the Green Goblin, one of his best-known performances takes place in The Lighthouse. His latest project, Inside, came out on March 17th, and audiences are already raving about his work. It’s hard to come up with something that becomes a cultural mainstay, and Eminem did it unintentionally: His 2000 hit “Stan” is about an obsessive fan, and it was such a popular and descriptive depiction of that sort of person that the word “stan” is now commonly used to describe passionate devotees. The word “stan” has become its own thing distinct from Eminem at this point, as Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania stars Evangeline Lilly and Kathryn Newton proved in a recent interview.
In a PopBuzz presser, the two were asked about the word and it turned out they had complementary sets of knowledge: Lilly hadn’t heard of the term “stan” but was aware of the Eminem song, while Newton is up on her slang but didn’t know the word’s origins.
Newton explained how the word is used, which prompted Lilly to wonder if it was the Eminem song that spawned the word. The burden of confusion shifted from Lilly to Newton at that point, who had apparently never made the connection between Eminem and the word “stan” before until after Lilly explained what the song is about.
Marvel has confirmed that Robert Downey Jr. will not be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Vice President of Production and Development at Marvel Studios, Stephen Broussard, says Iron Man options “aren’t on the table.” As can be seen, Iron Man died in Marvel’s most successful film yet, Avengers: Endgame. Furthermore, He sacrificed himself to save the world. His funeral topped off the emotional scenes of his final moments. However, Broussard says that, since then, the MCU is now in a huge transition period. Now, they’re moving away from the Avengers narrative and Phase Five will connect everything released in Phase Four.
Specifically, Broussard told io9, “I think one of the meta-narratives of Phase Four was about new characters. It was about new people stepping into mantles. If you look at, like, Cassie [Lang in Quantumania] getting a suit and Kate Bishop [in Hawkeye], new characters being introduced like Jack in Werewolf by Night. After these first 10 years of Marvel storytelling, torches are being passed, like with Robert Downey Jr. no longer being [on the] table and stuff like that. So, it was kind of like a new generation stepping to the forefront which, again, has always happened in the comics.”
Marvel Changing Faces
Additionally, This news comes with the announcement that Harrison Ford is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ford has appeared in some of the biggest film franchises in the world– from Star Wars to Indiana Jones. Rightfully, there are high expectations for him in the MCU. He will replace William Hurt, who passed away in March at the age of 71. Hurt played Thaddeus E ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross in the MCU. Ford will now play the character.
Fans have already seen his character, Thunderbolt, in The Incredible Hulk, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Black Widow. Furthermore, in the fifth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sebastian Stan and Florence Pugh will star a stand-alone Thunderbolts film. The film is set to follow a group of supervillains who are recruited to go on missions for the government. Additionally, Ford has also signed a deal with Marvel to appear in Captain America: New World Order, as well.
Anthony Mackie has to follow in some big footsteps as the new Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Steve Rogers left a mark on the MCU as a former leader of the Avengers. However, Mackie’s new version of Captain America may not be stepping into that same role. Marvel has shared that Captain America will be a crucial part of The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars, but he may not lead the team. Empire Magazine interviewed Anthony Mackie. In the interview, Mackie discussed Captain America: New World Order. Empire asked about the potential for Sam Wilson to step up as the leader of the Avengers. Read what Mackie said below:
“Sam is the only character without superpowers. He’s just a regular dude hanging out with a bunch of weirdos. Being from New Orleans, I’ve been in a few fights. And heart and charisma never helped me in a fight. That usually just got me beat up. So that might cause an issue when you go fight somebody like Thanos. So, I think with him, he has to come to the stage with a very different understanding of what it is to be a good guy or be a bad guy and what are the decisions that make you toe that line in the way that you did.” He continued, “so I just see him as more of a humane Cap as opposed to a distinctive judge Cap — [a] Cap of judgment, where this is right and this is wrong. There are decisions that make you choose right or wrong.”
Mackie As Captain America
Captain America was crucial to many wars. For one, he was pivotal to a World War, as well as the Battle of New York. Additionally, He was a prime leader in the storyline of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. Even during Avengers: Endgame, Rogers’ impact was undeniable. With Anthony Mackie bringing the hero back, he has big shoes to fill. There could be a new war coming for him to make a great impact on. This could even serve as a catalyst for the arrival of a new film with a certain X-Men character in the future.
In December, rumors surfaced that the plot of Captain America: New World Order would introduce the element Adamantium into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Adamantium was a crucial element for the creation of Wolverine’s claws and bones. Apparently, the element will be discovered on Tiamat Island, where the giant Celestial was left in the middle of the ocean at the end of the Eternals. Surprisingly, the giant Celestial has not been reported on in the MCU, other than a quick newspaper seen in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. May 3, 2024 is the set release date for Captain America: New World Order.
