While sitting down with his Bad Boys: Ride or Die co-star for an interview on Night Cap with Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson, Smith discussed which of their two classic sitcoms was funnier. Smith famously starred on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air from 1990 to 1996 while Lawrence starred on his iconic self-titled show from 1992 to 1997.
“Martin was hands down funnier than me,” Smith said. “Like, I used to study this dude in pure jealousy at the level of comedic genius that he could portray. I’m an actor that needs a script. Martin, you can just roll and say, ‘go,’ just let it rip and make it up and different takes and all of that, just how he’ll use his body and he’ll look and notice something in the room and grab it and use it in the next– it’s a level of comedic genius that is stunning to me.” From there, Lawrence thanked him for the kind words.

Last week, a video showing Martin appearing confused during an interview with Will Smith for their upcoming movie Bad Boys: Ride or Die went viral on social media, sparking concerns about his health. Furthermore, after Will seemed to be encouraging Lawrence to walk the red carpet at the Bad Boys 4 premiere in Los Angeles, social media users were once again left to wonder if Martin was okay.
In a recent appearance with Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning, Martin addressed the rumors, thankfully assuring fans that everything is OK. “I’m fine. I’m in Gods hands,” he shared. He continued, “I’m blessed- I’m glad to be waking up everyday and everything. No need for people to be concerned.” He added, “I’m healthy as hell. Stop the rumors.” All in all, Fans can rest easy because Martin isn’t even entertaining the idea. Overall, Martin Lawrence says he is completely healthy.
“Now Martin … everybody’s talking [about] you on the balcony waving at people, [you’re] looking around, where you’re looking around? … people took it like something was wrong with your health, or something,” asked Ebro. Martin Lawrence replied, “I was like, ‘Oh, this is rock concert stuff,’” Lawrence joked, referring to his surprise at the size of the crowds. “What the hell is going on? [This is] for a movie?” After being pushed again, Martin clarified, saying, “I’m fine. I’m in God’s hands,” Lawrence said, adding, “I’m blessed. You know, I’m glad to be waking up every day. I’m all good. No need for people to be concerned.” Overall, it is a strong denial and assures everyone that he is ok.
Additionally, the 59-year-old Lawrence had previously experienced health issues. Furthermore, the actor was briefly admitted to the hospital in May 1996 following an incident in which he screamed and cursed as he dashed into traffic in Los Angeles. Furthermore, Lawrence’s doctor later stated that he was extremely tired and dehydrated. Lastly, this Friday, Bad Boys: Ride or Die opens in theaters. After the first Bad Boys movie came out in 1995, followed by Bad Boys II in 2003 and Bad Boys for Life in 2020, this fourth entry in the series finds the buddy cop pair trying to clear the name of their deceased Captain Conrad Howard.

The cast of the iconic sitcom, Martin, reunited at the Emmy Awards at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles on Monday night. In addition to Martin Lawrence, Tisha Campbell, Carl Anthony Payne II, and Tichina Arnold all took the stage. It featured a replicated set of Martin’s iconic living room. Afterward, Lawrence presented the Best Actor in a Comedy Series award to The Bear’sJeremy Allen White.
During the presentation, Payne joked that he was there under the impression they’d be receiving an award. Arnold comically explained: “We’re presenting an award not being presented with one, knucklehead.”

Ford portrayed one of Martin Payne’s best friends in the show and was present for all five seasons. Like most of his fellow main cast members, the actor had no trouble bagging roles after he finished with the show Martin. He starred in multiple roles in films and TV shows, including New York Undercover, The Parkers, and Hitched, among others. Unfortunately, Ford is no longer with us as he passed away in October 2016. He died from a ruptured abdominal aneurysm at the age of 52. He is survived by his two children whom he shared with his ex-wife Gina Sasso.

The sassy character she played is certainly one of its most unforgettable and a favorite of many fans. Shawn McDermott, Gries’ character on Martin only appeared in the first two seasons of the show. However, even though his stay on the show was short, he certainly made his mark on it. After moving on from Martin, he wasted no time securing other roles. The actor has grown his catalog extensively since, starring in many popular shows and movies. Gries appeared in all three installments of Taken, starred in Lost, and portrayed the character Greg in The White Lotus. Besides his acting career, Gries is also a writer and director. His personal life has mostly been kept under wraps, and it remains unknown if he has a partner or children.

Like Jon Gries, Garrett Morris only starred in the first two seasons of Martin as a member of the main cast. Subsequently, in the third season, he appeared only as a guest actor. He had to leave Martin after unfortunately suffering an injury. Regardless, also like Gries, Morris left his mark portraying Stan Winters on the show. The actor is now 86 years old, and he has kept his acting career going over the years. Never taking his foot off the gas, he has appeared in many shows and movies, including Ant-Man, This Is Us, and Self Made, among others.
Bad Boys 4 has an official release date. Sony Pictures has released its 2024 release schedule, with Bad Boys 4 set for a Father’s Day opening on June 14, 2024.
According to Variety, Bad Boys for Life (Bad Boys 3) directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah will return for the fourth film. The movie’s script is from Chris Bremner. The third edition earned $426.5 million at the worldwide box office in winter of 2020.
Additional films from Sony to come next summer will be Venom 3 on July 12, 2024.
