Lizzo Is Ecstatic After Jojo And Jojo Siwa Made ‘2 Be Loved’ TikTok Videos

Lizzo is extremely talented and successful, yet as humble as they come. Her performances carry such confidence and vigor that it would make sense if no one ever tried to replicate them. However, Jojo and Jojo Siwa made the bold attempt by performing their own renditions of “2 Be Loved (Am I Ready)” on TikTok. Evidently, they nailed it as Lizzo responded with enthusiasm.

In a TikTok video shared on Twitter on Saturday (September 10), Siwa can be seen dancing energetically in a driveway loaded with fancy cars to Lizzo’s upbeat record. The video then transitions to Jojo singing a rousing cover backed by accompanying singers before Lizzo comes on the screen.

“Not both Jojo’s doing ‘2 Be Loved’ in the same damn day,” the Special artist said. The moment led her to try and turn the performances into a challenge of sorts. “Jojo Siwa! Jojo Jojo! Now I need all the Jojo’s to do ‘2 Be Loved.’ Joe Jonas, K-Ci & Jojo, Jojo The Dolphin, Mojo Jojo, b*tch!”

Time will tell if another Jojo steps up, but her enthusiasm makes the moment the icing on the cake of what has been a successful year for Lizzo. She released Special back in July to major fanfare, led by the singles “Grrrls” and “About Damn Time.”

Lizzo Dismisses Aries Spears' Hate During VMA Acceptance Speech

Lizzo was the target of a random attack by comedian Aries Spears. Speaking on The Art of Dialogue podcast, the former Mad TV star stated he has been able to take Lizzo’s music seriously due to her appearance looking like a “shit emoji.”

“Listen, I ain’t the most in shape n-gga in the world, but when you funny and you got swagger and confidence and you decent looking — I think I’m at least handsome — you get pussy. But a woman that’s built like a plate of mashed potatoes, you’re in trouble.”

Hearing his disrespectful statements, Lizzo responded during her appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards. After promoting voting in the forthcoming elections, Lizzo blasted off: “To the bitches that got something to say about me in the press. I’m not gonna say nothing! Why don’t you clap back? Because bitch, I’m winning.”

Lizzo doesn’t have any intense response for Aries Spears, but Mike Epps took care of it all in one swift statement:

What Did Aries Spears Say About Lizzo?

When Lizzo accepted the MTV VMA for the Video For Good Award this past weekend, the “About Damn Time” singer appeared to address some recent comments made by comedian Aries Spears at the end of her acceptance speech. “To the bitches that got something to say about me in the press… You know what, I’m not gonna say nothing,” she said on stage at the MTV VMAs. “They be like, ‘Lizzo why don’t you clap back? Why don’t you clap back?’ ‘Cause, bitch, I’m winning, ho!” It definitely felt like a jab at Aries Spears, especially when she tweeted out a clip of the acceptance speech with the words, “KEEP MY NAME IN YO MOUF CUS I KNOW IT TASTE GOOD BITCH!” But what did he say specifically?

What Did Aries Spears Say About Lizzo?

In an appearance on the Art Of Dialogue Podcast, it was suggested to Spears that Lizzo makes good music. He replied with a fairly unhinged (and frankly, misogynist) diatribe that body-shamed Lizzo numerous times. “Lizzo? I can’t get past the fact that she looks like the sh*t emoji,” he said. “She got a very pretty face, but she keeps showing her body off… Come on, man… A woman that’s built like a plate of mashed potatoes is in trouble.”

He took issue with what he called the hypocrisy of Lizzo’s “confidence,” indicating that she doesn’t care about diabetes, heart disease, or cholesterol, despite admitting he’s hardly a pinnacle of fitness. He then insinuated that this was a systemic problem with women in general: “You all claim womanhood and sisterhood and support for your sister when it comes to that ridiculous sh*t. But if you really gave a f*ck, why wouldn’t you go, ‘Black girl, we love you, we love your confidence booboo, but this ain’t it.’ That’s the real love… Y’all will jump on me for making jokes, but y’all won’t be real and go, ‘Sister, put the eclair down. This ain’t it, it’s treadmill time.”

Not a great look for Aries Spears, a middling comedian whose career highlights include appearing on MAD TV nearly 20 years ago and being Cuba Gooding Jr ‘s jealous little brother in Jerry Maguire.

Lizzo Had The Perfect Response For A Comedian Who Tried To Body Shame Her At The VMAs

Despite being a critically acclaimed, Grammy Award-winning, best-selling rapper, singer, and actor, Lizzo still somehow has to put up with fatphobic comments from fellow entertainers with a fraction of the accolades. During a recent podcast appearance, comedian Aries Spears disparaged Lizzo’s body, saying, “She got a very pretty face, but she keeps showing her body off… a woman that’s built like a plate of mashed potatoes, you’re in trouble.” Although Lizzo had plenty of defenders online, she got the last laugh Sunday night at the VMAs as she added yet another award to her growing collection of hardware.

Accepting the Video For Good award (she doesn’t know what it means, either) for her song “About Damn Time,” Lizzo took the high road, clapping back at Spears without clapping back at all. “To the bitches that got something to say about me in the press… You know what, I’m not gone say nothing. They be like, ‘Lizzo why don’t you clap back? Why don’t you clap back?’ ‘Cause, bitch, I’m winning, ho!” She also shared a clip of her speech on Twitter with the caption “KEEP MY NAME IN YO MOUF CUS I KNOW IT TASTE GOOD BITCH.” Check it out below and watch Lizzo’s VMAs performance here.

Lizzo Busts Out A Show-Stopping Medley Of ‘About Damn Time’ And ‘2 Be Loved’ At The 2022 MTV VMAs

Lizzo is having a moment right now. Her new album Special is her highest-charting so far, earning a peak at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, while “About Damn Time” was a multi-week chart-topper and a strong “song of the summer” contender (even if she wasn’t always so sure it would be the right lead single for Special). Now, she can put another feather in her cap as she’s fresh off a performance at the 2022 MTV VMAs.

Her performance started with a bit of “About Damn Time” before transitioning into her latest single, “2 Be Loved (Am I Ready),” all the while accompanied by a delightfully colorful light show behind her, complete with herself as a background dancer on the massive triangular video screen behind her.

Lizzo has some major nominations at this year’s show: She’s up for Artist Of The Year while “About Damn Time” is up for Song Of The Year. The track is also nominated for Best Pop and Video For Good.

Aside from Lizzo, also performing during this year’s show are Nicki Minaj, Jack Harlow (both of whom are also co-hosting alongside LL Cool J), Blackpink, Bad Bunny, Måneskin, Anitta, Panic! At The Disco, Kane Brown, Marshmello x Khalid, Snoop Dogg with Eminem, J Balvin, and 2022 MTV VMAs Global Icon Award recipients Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Lizzo’s New Wedding-Themed ‘2 Be Loved (Am I Ready)’ Video Is A Callback To ‘Truth Hurts’

Lizzo has a hit with “About Damn Time” (which is still No. 3 on the latest Billboard Hot 100 chart). Now, though, she’s putting the focus on another Special highlight, as today brings a new video for “2 Be Love (Am I Ready).”

In the clip for the upbeat tune, Lizzo leaves her bride (herself) at the altar and takes a ride in the desert, eventually meeting up with model Tyson Beckford. Of course, though, there’s a twist. Also, as Lizzo herself points out, the video is a callback to her 2017 video for “Truth Hurts,” with some shots and scenes re-created pretty much perfectly.

Lizzo previously told Apple Music of the song, “This is the first record I made with Max Martin, and it’s a dream record. As someone who’s been writing songs since I was 9, who studied music since I was 12, and who dreamed of being a performer, Max Martin is the dream collaborator. Recording it was like watching a legend in action. He’s an extremely collaborative, open, creative soul. The song is a callback to when pop records had key changes — that golden era of late-’80s and early-’90s pop when singers had massive records that were vocally impressive but also danceable, and the production quality was very intentional. I think it’s a work of art. It’s a masterpiece.”
