GloRilla Has Water Thrown At Her After Skipping Performance

Since her breakout in Fall 2022 with “F.N.F.” and “Tomorrow 2,” GloRilla has been one of, if not the, most beloved female act in the hip-hop industry. Aside from maybe Ice Spice, GloRilla has been atop this category for about half a year now. Because of this, she is rightfully in high demand for live performances.

On January 21, Glo announced she would embark on her first headlining tour from Jan. 27 – Feb. 26. With 15 dates, the “Anyways, Life’s Great Tour” would see her hit almost every major U.S. city. The tour also presents openers like Gloss Up, K Carbon, Slimeroni and Aleza. However, trouble arose for Glo on the night of her seventh tour stop in the Bay Area. After her show in San Francisco on Feb. 8, GloRilla was booked to perform at Insomnia nightclub in Oakland. However, the after-party surely encountered some miscommunication. Instead of performing, GloRilla solely made an appearance at the venue for a “walk-through” before leaving. This angered fans, as she then had water thrown all over her while she was exiting the club.

GloRilla Gets Doused

A promoter for the venue whose Instagram name is @conbmusic then took to Instagram to clear up any rumors. He claimed that they paid Glo $30,000 for her appearance. Before the show, he specified that it would be a live performance instead of a hosting or walk-through gig. On his Instagram story the next morning, he continued to pull up the receipts. He posted a screenshot of a contract he had with GloRilla’s team, that states she was meant to perform.

GloRilla did not comment on this matter. This also isn’t the first time she’s been caught up in drama lately. Along with having to deny pregnancy rumors in mid-January, Glo had to beat scammer allegations. During the first week of 2023, her and her team were accused of scamming people for endorsement deals and dance classes. However, Glo claimed that the folks scamming these people were not part of her team. GloRilla still has eight more dates left on her nationwide tour. Hopefully, she will not get herself into any more debacles such as the one in Oakland. Check out the video of the crowd throwing water at GloRilla above.

Beyoncé & Blue Ivy’s $24M Dubai Performance Videos Are Circulating Online

The BeyHive was more than ecstatic when their favourite vocalist dropped off her RENAISSANCE album last year. In the months since that project’s arrival, it’s been in constant rotation for many as they prepare for the mother of three’s upcoming tour. She won’t be hitting the road quite yet. However, Beyoncé did take to the stage for the first time in years this past weekend for a stunning live performance in Dubai.

The Austin Powers actress was recently hired for an hour-long set in the United Arab Emirates. Her show at the Atlantis The Royal hotel evidently brought in upwards of $24 million. While that’s an undeniably major flex, it’s worth noting that those numbers have no official confirmation.

As TMZ reports, ahead of Saturday’s (January 21) show, several videos surfaced online revealing the zip-up bags patrons were expected to keep their phones in during the performance. This has consequently become common practice for many comedians who prefer to keep their material fresh for each audience.

The venue was sharing a live stream prior to the show as well. Some of the footage even previously captured the audio of Beyoncé’s rehearsals. However, it was promptly shut off when the Houston native made her grand entrance, in hopes of preserving the luxurious show’s privacy.

Even with all the security measures, attendees still managed to capture clips of the “Telephone” hitmaker singing. She gave a rousing cover of Etta James’ “At Last” before carrying out classics of her own like “XO” and “Brown Skin Girl.”

For the latter, Blue Ivy Carter surprisingly joined her mother on stage. The two are no strangers to putting on a show together, and husband/father Jay-Z was in attendance in a private box, showing his support with a bird’s-eye view of the magic unfolding below.

Aside from her beautiful voice, the internet has also been gushing over Queen B’s incredible yellow dress. As per usual, she looked worth every single penny she was paid for the concert.

Rihanna Shows Off Super Bowl Halftime Show Merch As Her Return To The Stage Nears

The Super Bowl itself is an undeniably big deal every year. However, it’s often the Halftime show that really captivates audiences. In 2022, an impressive roster of artists took to the stage. Among them were 50 Cent, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Mary J. Blige.

For some time, it was said that following such a lineup wouldn’t be easy for 2023’s headliner. However, it seems that the perfect artist was found in the form of Rihanna. She previously took a years-long hiatus from the music industry in favour of her other creative pursuits.

As the annual game nears, the new mother has been using social media to tease her fans about what they can expect. Most recently, she showed off her accompanying Savage X Fenty merch – namely a hoodie printed with the initial announcement image of her tattooed hand holding up a football that arrived last year.

“5 weeks from today,” the caption on Sunday’s (January 8) Instagram upload reads. Prior to that, Rih posted the same video on her Story, gearing her 139M followers up for her highly anticipated comeback.

Deadline reports that the “Breakin’ Dishes” hitmaker will be the first to perform in the rebranded Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show. The big event will take place on Sunday, February 12, in Glendale, Arizona. In charge of production is DPS with Roc Nation and Jesse Collins. Additionally, Hamish Hamilton will act as the director.

Once the exciting announcement came out in 2022, Jay-Z took a moment to praise Rihanna. “[She] is a generational talent, a woman of humble beginnings who has surpassed expectations at every turn,” he said at the time. “A person born on the small island of Barbados who became one of the most prominent artists ever. Self-made in business and entertainment.”

It’s been noted that over 120 million viewers tuned in to the Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show. Later, it went on to receive a total of three Creative Emmy awards for all the performers involved.

Others who have graced the stage at the year’s biggest football game in the past include Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Prince, Jennifer Lopez, and The Weeknd.
