Lil Yachty, Icewear Vezzo, And Rio Da Yung OG Serve Up A Greyscale Video For The Hard-Hitting ‘Plastic’

Lil Yachty has been extremely busy for well over a year now and all that’s added up to the strong comeback he’s made since the release of Lil Boat 3 last spring. More than a year later, Yachty returned with a brand new project, Michigan Boy Boat, an effort that saw him working with some of the best rising and established rappers from the state’s Detroit and Flint areas. A month removed from the mixtape’s release, Yachty continues its promotional run with a brand new video for “Plastic.”

In it, Yachty is accompanied by Icewear Vezzo and Rio Da Yung OG, rappers who both appear on the song, as well as members of his decently-sized crew. The greyscale visual features the group in a fairly laid-back state as they lounge and kick it in a room together. Clips of them recording music and spending time at a strip club also appear throughout the video.

Prior to dropping Michigan Boy Boat, Yachty extended his Lil Boat 3 project with new songs and later shared videos for tracks like “In My Stussy’s” and “Asshole.” He also flexed some freestyle skills in a visual for “Cortex” which came after he was confirmed to appear in the upcoming season of Lil Dicky’s show, Dave which premieres next month on June 16.

Lil Yachty’s Upcoming Mixtape ‘Michigan Boy Boat’ Will Spotlight Rappers From Detroit And Flint

Lil Yachty had a big comeback in 2020 thanks to the release of Lil Boat 3. The 19-track album was a return to form, highlighted by moments like “Oprah’s Bank Account” and contributions from the likes of Future, Tierra Whack, Lil Keed, Young Thug, and more. Six months later, the rapper returned in November 2020 with a deluxe reissue that featured eight additional songs. Now he’s ready to make his first big mark in 2021 thanks to the upcoming mixtape Michigan Boy Boat, his third release in less than a year and which will spotlight rappers from Detroit and Flint.

The rapper made the announcement on his Instagram page, with the following caption: “It’s on – 4/23/21… dis 4 my second home… let’s rap.” While it’s unknown how many songs will appear on the mixtape, Lil Yachty tagged a number of artists on the image, including Swae Lee, Sada Baby, Tee Grizzley, YN Jay, Babyface Ray, Louie Ray, Icewear Vezzo, and more.

The rollout for the project began with the single “Royal Rumble,” which boasts appearances from Krispylife Kid, RMC Mike, Babyface Ray, Rio Da Yung OG, and Icewear Vezzo.

Lil Yachty Flexes His Freestyle Skills In The In-Studio ‘Cortex’ Video

Lil Yachty has been on a tear lately, as if he’s out to prove all his early-careers haters’ assumptions that he couldn’t rap wrong. Over the last few months, he’s released a string of lyrically focused freestyles such as the “Royal Rumble” cipher with seemingly all of the rising rappers in Michigan and the “No More Beatboxing Freestyle,” which saw him take on two of the hotter instrumentals of the moment. Now, he keeps the ball rolling with “Cortex,” a quick hitter accompanied by an in-studio video surrounded by his clique.

In addition to his freestyle videos, Yachty’s been rolling out a few singles that show that his songwriting remains as clever as ever, with videos that showcase his quirky sense of humor and visual creativity. In February, he released the dapper “Asshole” video with Oliver Tree, as well as the Vince Staples-featuring “In My Stussy’s” video. Meanwhile, he’s keeping his corporate profile pristine as well; at the end of 2020, he collaborated with Reese’s Puff cereal on a box and a new song, and earlier this year, it was reported that he’s developing a heist movie based on the card game Uno. He’s also set to appear in season two of Lil Dicky’s breakout FX comedy, Dave.
