Trippie Redd, LAZER DIM 700, & VonOff1700 Collab For Cutthroat Single “Murderman”

In the mid to late 2010s, Canton, Ohio native Trippie Redd was a fresh voice for hip-hop. His blends of emo, heavy metal, pop rap, and trap brought some of the biggest songs of the decade. “Dark Knight Dummo”, “Talking A Walk”, “1400/ 999 Freestyle”, “Topanga”, and “Love Scars”, are just a few. Additionally, he’s done some decent work in the 2020s, especially at the start. However, the same cannot be said today and arguably over the last couple of years. For some reason, he cannot seem to recapture what made him so special at his peak. Unfortunately, the struggle for Trippie Redd continues this week too with “Murderman”.

At some point, he’s going to be dropping LIFE’S A TRIP 2, the sequel to his well-received debut album of the same name. If more songs like “Murderman” are what we are going to be receiving, then this LP is doomed. Honestly, though, it’s already trending in that direction. “LWRW” and “LGLG” are debatably some of the most repetitive and boring singles of 2024. “Bando Kid” is definitely the most respectable and closest return to form in our eyes, however. For “Murderman”, though, Trippie is working with LAZER DIM 700 and VonOff1700, two more underground names who bring an extremely murderous tone.

However, that’s about all that they do here. At times, they try to sound like Playboi Carti’s deep voice, including Trippie. If you haven’t heard a VonOff feature or single, you are certainly in for an experience. We don’t want to say any more, so check it out for yourself and see if you agree with our take.

Pull out that scram, gotta spread out my drip

Trippie Redd Continues To Tease His Next Album With “LGLG”

Trippie Redd has not been in his prime according to a lot of listeners. Obviously, a great deal of his fans are going to defend their Canton, Ohio MC star, but we can see where the former camp is coming from. His last few projects, MANSION MUSIK, A Love Letter To You 5, and Saint Michael V2, seem to have come and went. Furthermore, his collaborative record with mgk, genre : sadboy, was another disappointment thanks to its blandness. On top of that, some of his recent singles, especially “LWRW”, just feel lazy.

However, Trippie seemed to redeem himself a little bit with “Bando Kid”, the follow-up to the aforementioned track. It’s also the second single for the upcoming sequel LP to his debut album LIFE’S A TRIP 2. It saw the “Miss The Rage” artist lean into that heavy metal sound and the effort level was clearly raised in our opinion. Now, Trippie Redd is looking to carry that momentum into “LGLG”. On this record, it feels he went back to the basics. For him, that means a catchy and repetitive chorus mixed with some dark lyricism and production. For some reason that method on “LWRW” came across as annoying, but not here. Trippie even tries his hand at interpolating Playboi Carti’s deep voice, as well as Travis Scott’s recent growling he’s been messing with. Overall, it’s a decent effort but let us know what you think below.

Actually, this s*** a yacht
Always keep one in the top, keep me a mop

Trippie Redd Sports A Heavy Metal Aesthetic On Hellish Single “Bando Kid”

Trippie Redd is riding off the momentum from his collaborative genre : sadboy EP with fellow Ohioan mgk with “Bando Kid”. Unfortunately, the wave is not all that substantial, as lot of fans were pretty disappointed in the final product. Additionally, his solo stuff as of late is not generating the same amount of hype lately, too. “LWRW” (Left Wrist Right Wrist), as well as his last three projects came and went for a lot of folks. However, Trippie Redd might be drawing some people back in with “Bando Kid”.

This track, along with “LWRW” figure to make the cut for LIFE’S A TRIP 2. Yes, a sequel to his well-received debut album in 2018 is possibly coming this year. Trippie is not ready to reveal all of the important details yet, but he is certainly working toward it. In a now deleted Instagram post near the release of Saint Michael EP, the emo rapper revealed that he would be going on expedition and recording in a specific location. “Life’s a Trip 2. Every last song will be recorded on a yacht. Taking trips for this! Gotta see the world and work”. On “Bando Kid” is mixing some elements of heavy metal and trap rap, making for a nonstop thrill ride. Trippie’s wailing vocals over the epic guitar riffs and punchy drum kicks feel grand in scope. Overall, this one of his best offerings as of late and you should rock out with him using the link below.

Trippie Redd Teases Forthcoming “LIFE’S A TRIP 2” With “LWRW”

Canton, Ohio multi-hyphenate Trippie Redd is certified hitmaker. We have seen it time and time again over the course of his prolific career. He is never afraid to experiment and has pretty impressive range in general. However, it seems some of that magic has been a little trickier to recapture over the last couple of years or so. While there are some quality tracks sprinkled throughout his past several releases, the consistency looks to have faltered.

Trippie Redd is looking to bring back that hype with a new single “LWRW.” It will take about a couple of weeks to see if this effort resonates. However, for us, it comes across as a little to repetitive. We never like saying any music is mediocre, but it just falls a little flat.
