LeBron James’ Age Source Of “Constant Jokes” Amongst Lakers

A new report has revealed that LeBron James’ age is a source of “constant jokes” amongst his Lakers teammates. “He’s always got energy. He’s the oldest player in the NBA but still acts like he’s 20 every day. Just joking around, having fun. And I think he plays the game the same way, regardless of who he’s playing. And like Rui said, any time Bron has something that pushes him a little further, you see the results like you get tonight. Like last year in the playoffs. He just did more after all of that stuff started happening,” Austin Reaves told The Los Angeles Times.

LeBron turns 39 next month and is in his 21st season. However, he has shown little sign of slowing down. “It’s staggering for a player who has 20 years under the hood already and is preparing for 21 like he’s a rookie. He’s been doing 6 a.m. workouts. Probably been in our building as much as any player this offseason. Been in the weight room as much as any player. Any team LeBron’s played for, it’s been pretty uniform that his work sets the tone. There has been nothing but an increase in seeing that here. To me, it’s let’s be about it, let’s not talk about it. He’s definitely been about it this offseason,” Lakers GM Rob Pelinka told reporters back in September. This season, LeBron is averaging 25.7 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game.

LeBron Has Hilarious Reaction To Question About Jazz Coach’s Age

Furthermore, LeBron’s age has been a major source of conversation this week. LeBron was left without a response after a reporter pointed out that he was older than Will Hardy, the head coach of the Utah Jazz head coach. After making a deflated noise and rubbing his head, LeBron finally responded to the question. “Oh my goodness. I’m not even mad. That’s a good one, you got me on that one. That’s crazy,” LeBron said. LeBron turns 39 next month. Meanwhile, Hardy turns 36 in January.

However, despite his “advanced years”, LeBron was unstoppable against the Jazz. He had 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 9 assists as the Lakers cruised into the in-season tournament quarterfinals with a 131-99 result. The night also saw LeBron surpass 39,000 points, the first player in league history to do so. Despite this, the night’s scoring title belonged to Anthony Davis, who put up a 28-point double-double. Omar Yurtseven led the Jazz with 18 points in 17 minutes off the bench as Utah fell to 4-10.

LeBron Museum Opening In Akron

LeBron’s new scoring milestone is just another thing that will need to be added to the new museum opening in his hometown. Originally announced in 2022, a museum dedicated to LeBron is set to open in Akron this month. “A multimedia experience, the museum will include a re-creation of the apartment where he and his mother, Gloria, lived along with items from his childhood, high school playing career and championship runs with Cleveland, Miami and the Los Angeles Lakers,” read a press release from the NBA. The museum will be located at House Three Thirty, a facility opened and operated by LeBron’s foundation.

“My dream was always to put Akron on the map, So to have a place in my hometown that allows me to share my journey with my fans from all over the world means a lot to me. I’ve been known to hang on to a lot of things over the years. I always knew there would be a time and place to bring them out,” LeBron said.

LeBron James Had The Perfect Response To Stephen A. Smith’s Tweet About Him

LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are still seeming to find their footing to start the 2023-2024 NBA campaign. They are only 1-6 on the road this season, but they are 8-0 at home. Right now, they are a slightly above-average basketball team right now. Your record is a pretty good indicator of how well they are functioning together on the floor. Last night, on November 19, LeBron led the charge against an up-and-coming Houston Rockets team. Their first matchup was a blowout, with the Rockets thoroughly handling the visitors, 128-94. If you have been keeping up with the NBA, you know that Dillon Brooks, one of LeBron’s latest pests is on Houston. Any time he can get a win over James, you know he will relish in it.

Well, the season series is now split with the Lakers defending their home floor in a narrow 105-104 win. It took a season-high for LeBron to keep the team humming at Crypto.com Arena. He dropped 37 points with six rebounds and eight assists. While this game does mean a ton right now to either ball club, there was a funny moment that came out of it.

During the second quarter, James and teammate Christian Wood met up to celebrate. He supposedly “passed a blunt” to him making a joke about Christian’s last name. Stephen A. Smith, the world-renowned sports analyst, saw the video on X and he tweeted at LeBron suggesting he was smoking something he should not be. “Don’t even make me say it… @KingJames.” The Lakers superstar, responded with Stephen A.’s signature punchline, “Stay off the weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeedddddd! with tons of laughing emojis.” Smith has been using that iconic line for years on national television and it is a treat anytime he gets to make a reference to it.

Sure, the interview happened a year ago, however, it has resurfaced which led to LeBron seeing it.

Rockets Blow Out Lakers After LeBron James And Dillon Brooks Speak On Beef

LeBron James may have had the better stat line, but Dillon Brooks had the last laugh as the Rockets blew out the Lakers 128-94. Jalen Green had a game-high 28 points while young center Alperen Sengun had 19 points of his own as the Rockets dropped the Lakers to 0-5 on the road this season. After promising to “lock up” LeBron, Brooks finished with 5 points and 4 rebounds. Meanwhile, LeBron, who had offered praise to Brooks earlier in the day, finished with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Rui Hachimura led the Lakers in scoring with 24. However, he was just one of three Lakers to reach double digits alongside LeBron and D’Angelo Russell.

Following the loss, the Lakers pointed to their injured-depleted roster. “I mean, we can’t build cohesion if we don’t have our unit. It’s that simple. It’s just, we’re very depleted on the injury side,” Lebron said after the loss. The Lakers are currently without Anthony Davis, Jaxson Hayes, Jarred Vanderbilt, Jalen Hood-Schfino, and Gabe Vincent. However, the team is hoping that Davis will be available for Friday’s game against Phoenix, the Lakers’ first of the in-season tournament group stage.

Lakers Making The Worst Kind Of History

The Lakers’ 3-5 start to the season is just a one-game improvement to their dismal 2-6 start last year. However, the team is continuing to make history in all the worst ways. According to ESPN, the 2023/24 Lakers are now the first team in NBA history to make fewer threes and shoot worse from three than their opponents in each of their first eight games. Furthermore, the team has a -74 first-quarter point differential, also a historically low mark.

However, things could be about to turn around for the Lakers. They face the Suns on Friday, a team they have already beaten this season. After that, it’s back to LA for games against the Blazers and Grizzlies. The Blazers are also 3-5 at the time of writing. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies have completely fallen apart thanks to some major injuries and Ja Morant’s suspension. Last year’s two-seed are currently 1-7 to open the season.

LeBron James Gives Dillon Brooks His Flowers

LeBron James have given glowing praise of his “rival” Dillon Brooks head of their matchup later tonight. “I think every player that is awarded with a contract is awarded for a reason, and they’re worthy of the contract that they get. So I think in his case, he was worthy of the contract he got. He’s put in the work since he came out of Oregon, and that’s what Houston found value in and he’s here. So no, I think it has nothing to do with that,” LeBron told reporters.

However, LeBron also noted that he didn’t view the game as a grudge match. “I think just the competition alone. It’s always great to go out and compete, so he’s one of those guys who likes to compete along with a lot of other guys in our league. But I don’t really dwell in the past too much. … Over the years, I kind of leave that in the past and find a way to [think about]: ‘How can we get our first road win?’ That’s what my mindset is, for sure.”

Dillon Brooks Ready For LeBron

LeBron’s comments come after Brooks issued a bold statement of his own earlier in the day. “Ready to lock him up. He’s shooting the ball well. He’s been playing well. So I’m just there to make him tired, make him get into that fourth quarter early,” Brooks told the Houston Chronicle this week. “I feel like he (James) controls the media. I feel like a lot of guys, you know, have these podcasts and love social media, but I don’t really like it. And I don’t really like media. If I didn’t have to talk to you guys I wouldn’t talk to you guys. And you know, I just block it out and just play basketball.”

Brooks’ comments came ahead of the Rockets hosting the Lakers on Wednesday night. It will be the first time the pair will take the fall after Brooks tried, and failed, to ignite a beef between them during the first round of the playoffs. Brooks called LeBron “old” and consistently got in the veteran’s face. However, LeBron and the Lakers completely cooked Brooks’ then-team, the Grizzlies. Furthermore, the Grizzlies chose to let Brooks walk in free agency, in part due to the defensive specialist focusing more on the beef than playoff basketball.

Dillon Brooks Ready To Renew Beef With LeBron James

Dillon Brooks showed no signs of reconciling with LeBron James ahead of the pair’s first matchup since their infamous playoff meeting earlier this year. “Ready to lock him up. He’s shooting the ball well. He’s been playing well. So I’m just there to make him tired, make him get into that fourth quarter early,” Brooks told the Houston Chronicle this week. “I feel like he (James) controls the media. Lakers File Complaint Over LeBron Treatment

However, Dillon Brooks isn’t the only one who seemingly has it in for LeBron. Earlier this week, the Lakers filed a complaint to the league over the officiating in their recent loss to the Heat. According to sources who spoke with ESPN, the Lakers submitted numerous clips of missed calls on LeBron during the Lakers’ one-point loss. One of the more egregious missed calls submitted was a video of Heat center Thomas Bryant making contact with LeBron’s face during a dunk attempt. LeBron attempted just four free throws during the game and has only drawn fouls on 6% of his drives this season.

“What they’re telling me is not consistent with what’s actually happening on the floor. When I went for the dunk attempt against Thomas Bryant, he clearly elbowed — like, arm straight across my face. And I asked him for the explanation — well, one of the refs said that he was straight up, hands straight in the air. Two of the refs said they were blocked and they didn’t see it,” LeBron himself said of the missed calls after the game.

LeBron James Confirms Bronny Is Headed “In The Right Direction” Following Cardiac Arrest

LeBron James says that his son, Bronny, is headed “in the right direction,” after suffering cardiac arrest during a USC practice in July. He provided the update while speaking with reporters at a post-game press conference on Monday.

“Things are going in the right direction with Bronny’s progress,” LeBron said. “He’s doing rehab. Every week he gets to do more and more and more. We have a big moment at the end of this month to see if we can continue to go forward. If he’s cleared, we’ll be not too long away from him being back on the floor and back with his teammates and practicing, with the notion of being back on the floor and playing in game situations.”

Bronny went into cardiac arrest while participating in a basketball workout at the university in July. The next month, his family announced he was diagnosed with “an anatomically and functionally significant congenital heart defect.” Then, in October, LeBron confirmed that Bronny underwent “successful” surgery to correct the problem. “Bronny is doing extremely well. He’s began his rehab to get back on the floor this season.” USC Basketball coach Andy Enfield also confirmed that Bronny wasn’t practicing to start the season but added: “Bronny’s doing very well, but we just can’t comment on anything medically. He’s going to class and doing extremely well in school, and we’re really excited for him.”

Bronny committed to play his college basketball at USC, earlier this year. At the time, LeBron said it was “one of the best days of my life.” Be on the lookout for further updates on when Bronny hits the court for USC on HotNewHipHop.

Dwyane Wade Recalls Yelling At LeBron James During 2011 Finals

During a recent podcast appearance, Dwyane Wade recalled yelling at LeBron during their 2011 Finals run. The infamous moment occurred during Game 3 of the matchup against the Mavericks, with the series tied at 1-1. “I knew our relationship. I knew I could talk to Bron, because he could talk to me the same way. We ain’t sensitive. […] In that moment in Dallas it was coming down to me and him, and I didn’t feel like he was playing to the level he needed to for us to win. That moment may not have been for that finals, but the next finals, and the next finals, and the next finals,” Wade told the Point Forward podcast.

Miami would win Game 3, but drop the next three games to lose the series. After this, the clip of Wade getting in LeBron’s face went viral. However, it also appeared to change LeBron. His stats improved across the board and the Heat would win back-to-back titles in 2013 and 2014.

Stephen A Says LeBron Owes His Legacy To Wade

However, it’s not the first time that people have noted the impact Wade had on LeBron’s career. Stephen A. Smith made a very similar claim a few months ago. “LeBron James, one could easily argue, wouldn’t even know what it’s like to be a champion had it not been for Dwyane Wade. Somebody needs to say it, so I’m going to say it,” Smith said. Smith’s argument is based on the notion that LeBron didn’t win his first championship until he linked with Wade in Miami. Of course, LeBron has won two other titles. He earned one with the Cavs in 2016 and another with the Lakers in 2020. However, Smith later clarified that LeBron remains his #2 all-time NBA player behind MJ.

In short, Smith’s argument is muddled at best. He’s not saying Wade is a better player than James, although that’s definitely what it sounds like upon first hearing it. Instead, Smith is trying to make a very labored point about LeBron finally getting the support he needed to win a championship. Honestly, the most surprising thing about this take is how pedestrian it is. Yes, Wade helped LeBron get over the championship hump. However, was that not the point of “The Decision”? Wasn’t all of this by design to get LeBron a championship-caliber supporting cast?
