Latto Drops Single “Put It On Da Floor”: Listen

Latto is back with a new single. Last weekend, the rapper performed at the first weekend of Coachella. It was a weekend marked with messy mishaps, cancelations, late arrivals, and more. Latto, however, really gave it her all, and she did so without any real missteps. There was, however, the issue of her bringing up her previous beef with Nicki Minaj. At the end of her set, Latto took a few shots at the Queen before leaving the stage. “Pussy ho, let a bitch know,” she said. “We tired of the subtweets this year.” The two had seemingly moved on from their squabble, but it would appear that the the rivalry is still very much alive.

Latto’s previous single, “Lottery,” was released a few months ago. The song features Latto speaking about how lucky her partner is to have gotten her. It charted at number 83 on the Billboard Hot 100. The rapper’s new song, however, is much cattier in tone. The rapper performed the new single during her Coachella set, and fans were quick to point out that the lyrics could be about Nicki. Whether or not that is true remains unconfirmed.

Latto Is Tired Of Fighting Sneaky

Latto’s new single is all about how she isn’t going anywhere. She also talks quite about about how she’s tired of people trying to throw shade and be sneaky, hence the title. While there is no clear cut Nicki shade, it’s pretty obvious that some of the lyrics are about her given the timing. However, Latto really does shine on this song, and for the most part, the lyrics don’t seem to have much to do with Nicki.

The chorus is catchy, but that’s usually the case with Latto’s hooks. “I done done it all, feel like Shawty LO / Laughin’ to the bank but shit is not a joke,” the rapper quips. “Say she got a problem, imaginary smoke /Bitches said it’s up then put it on the floor.” What do you think of Latto’s new song? Let us know in the comments.

Quotable Lyrics:

Bitches like to run their mouths
But I’m the type to run the fade
When your diamonds hit like this
You don’t ever see the shade

Latto Looks To Stay Hot With Her Upcoming Single ‘Put It On Da Floor’

Jokes were made at Latto’s expense because people believed that she photoshopped a photo of the crowd during her Coachella set last weekend. At first glance, certain audience members appeared more than once, but Latto’s fans questioned why Latto would feel the need to duplicate her audience when the crowd for her set was packed.

“Never photoshopped a crowd lmao,” Latto wrote to Instagram Stories (as captured by Billboard). She explained, “I expanded it so it would fit in my Instagram swipe without getting cut off but it was clearly f*cked up so I didn’t end up using it & just posted the wrong version by accident on Twitter babes.”

Latto undeniably photoshopped her cover art for “Put It On Da Floor,” a single arriving this Friday, April 21:

Latto’s announcement today, April 19, coincided with an announcement by TiaCorine that her “Freaky T” remix featuring Latto will also drop on April 21.

The two debuted the track during Latto’s Coachella set:

Uproxx pegged Latto’s performance as a highlight from Coachella’s first weekend:

“Latto brought all the energy out to her star-studded set at the Sahara tent. The rapper was able to hype up the crowd and feed off their energy, even inviting one lucky fan on stage to get up close and personal with her dancers. She kept everyone engaged with hits like ‘Soufside,’ and ‘Big Energy’ and brought out several guests; She invited TiaCorine to perform their unreleased ‘Freaky T’ remix, then Lola Brooke came out for their collab ‘Don’t Play with It.’ Finally, Saweetie surprised the crowd to deliver her verse in ‘B*tch From da Souf’ and give a short, heartwarming speech, giving Latto her flowers and leading the crowd in an ‘I love Latto’ chant.”

TiaCorine And Latto Announce The Release Date For Their ‘Freaky T’ Remix After Debuting It At Coacehlla

During her performance at Coachella this weekend, Latto brought out rising star TiaCorine to debut their remix to TiaCorine‘s breakout song, “Freaky T.” The song is the genre-bending North Carolina rapper’s most successful to date, generating well over 20 million combined streams across platforms. Today, she announced the official release date of the remix: this Friday, April 21.

The song is the latest remix in Latto’s growing catalog as she becomes one of the more sought-after feature artists in hip-hop today. Last month, she added a spark plug verse to viral sensation Lola Brooke’s breakout track “Don’t Play With It” after contributing another attention-grabbing appearance to Chicago rapper Mello Buckzz’s song “Boom, Pt. 2.” A preview clip of their video shoot for the song produced a viral moment in which Latto showed off her now-signature leopard-print Target panties.

And just before the end of 2022, Latto became one of the last artists to collaborate with southern rap legend Gangsta Boo, teaming up with yet another buzzy newcomer, GloRilla, for the bow-throwing anthem “FTCU.” She’s shown an ear for talent and a willingness to share her spotlight that bodes well for TiaCorine, who will get the perfect jumpstart for her own flourishing career when their collaboration drops on Friday.

Latto’s ‘Big Energy’ Was Originally Written For Cardi B

Latto’s “Genius Of Love”-sampling 2021 single “Big Energy” has been her biggest hit to date. As it turns out, though, the song almost went to another artist, Cardi B. However, according to songwriter Theron Thomas, when the opportunity to put it into Latto’s capable hands arose, the original plans for the song changed quickly.

As a guest on the podcast See, The Thing Is… Thomas recounted how “Big Energy” wound up delivering a smash for Latto instead of Cardi B, its intended recipient. “We went to Hawaii, I wrote it to that beat, and met Latto, and she was like, ‘Yeah man, you know, I want to do some crossover sh*t,’” he recalled.

“When I meet an artist and they tell me they want to do something, it’s like, okay cool. Cardi never got to hear it. We didn’t get it to her.”

After premiering the song at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards, Latto officially released it in September 2021. As it rose on the Billboard charts over the next six months, she was able to tap Mariah Carey, whose 1995 hit “Fantasy” also sampled “Genius Of Love” by Tom Tom Club, to appear on the remix. The song peaked at No. 3 on the Hot 100 and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Melodic Rap Performance.

It was also the basis of Latto’s feud with Nicki Minaj after Nicki argued that “Big Energy” should be nominated for a pop award instead. Nicki’s own song, “Super Freaky Girl,” was shortlisted as a pop song, and she compared the two songs on Twitter. Latto responded, “Damn I can’t win for losing… all these awards/noms I can’t even celebrate,” leading to open hostilities between the two rappers that apparently even continued into a new song Latto debuted at Coachella. Just imagine if the song had gone to Cardi; that feud might have been even worse than it is already.

Latto Denies Coachella Crowd Photoshop Allegations

Latto gave what’s been labelled as undoubtedly one of the most exciting performances at Coachella weekend one on Sunday (April 16). Still, that hasn’t stopped haters from trying to find any possible flaws. On Monday, the reality star celebrated her major W with a photo dump shared on Twitter. It consists of selfies, snapshots of her outfit, and finally, an enormous crowd watching on as she stood in front of them. Not long after her post went up, Latto was hit with zoomed in screenshots of the bottom right image. Upon inspection, some are accusing her of photoshopping it to make the audience at her show look bigger.

“That crowd tho! Wow. Goals 🙏,” one person wrote along with receipts that show them same face in the crowd twice. This hate train isn’t as massive as others Latto has conquered as of late. However, it’s likely exhausting for her to take on such constant criticism nonetheless. Thankfully, the 24-year-old is an undeniably resiliant spirit, and often addresses the gossip circulating about her online with a tough attitude. After seeing the negative response to her “LATTOCHELLA” post, she took thinks over to Instagram to speak her mind with a Story.

Latto Shares Photos from Coachella

“Never photoshopped a crowd lmao, I expanded it so it would fit in my Instagram swipe without getting cut off,” the Atlanta-based artist wrote earlier this afternoon. “It was clearly f*cked up so I didn’t end up using it and just posted the wrong version by accident on Twitter babes 🥰. Next,” Latto’s message ended. Since she’s spoken out, it seems as though many are taking the “Lottery” hitmaker’s side in the spat, calling the behaviour of those accusing her of editing “weird.”

“This is just weird in general… Everyone knows how packed Coachella is,” one IG user wrote in @theneighborhoodtalk’s comments. “I saw videos from a fan in the crowd from her set. Idk how she can do it, y’all be hating on these female rappers like crazy! They can’t make a mistake, gotta be perfect etc. I’d be tired if I was her.” Read more about what went down during Latto’s performance here, and check back later for more pop culture news updates.

It Sure Looks Like Latto Photoshopped A Coachella Crowd Photo, But She Has An Explanation

Just days after Latto performed at Coachella over the weekend, a photo that she posted of the crowd has made the rounds online — after many believed it was Photoshopped. While it’s unclear what the reason for this might have been, social media users pointed out that there were duplicates of the audience members.

People also chimed in with some jokes. “That’s me and my twin brother enjoying our time with friends,” one person replied, pointing at the fact it was the exact same person. “Literally cropped out the extended pixels and it still looks like a crowd to me. Just weird they decided to do that,” another wrote.

However, some Latto fans weren’t having it, questioning the point when her Coachella crowd was full.

Shortly after the viral picture spread, Latto has responded, saying she didn’t Photoshop it at all.

“Never photoshopped a crowd lmao I expanded it so it would fit in my Instagram swipe without getting cut off but it was clearly f*cked up so I didn’t end up using it & just posted the wrong version by accident on Twitter babes,” she shared to her Instagram story.
