Kendrick Lamar Reportedly Adds “Euphoria” To Grammys 2025 Consideration List

It seems like Kendrick Lamar submitted more songs for the Grammys next year than we initially thought. For those unaware, he submitted “Not Like Us” and his Future and Metro Boomin collab “Like That” for Record/Song of the Year, Best Rap Song/Performance, plus Best Music Video just for the former. However, according to frequent K.Dot producer Sounwave, it seems like “Euphoria” is also up for consideration at the 2025 Grammy Awards. His Instagram post indicating this didn’t specify what categories it was for, but we can assume that it was probably for the same ones as the other two tracks.

Of course, this move wasn’t without its fair share of controversy, whether due to the Grammys’ track record with hip-hop or that one Drake like on “Family Matters.” But we also doubt that Kendrick Lamar would be getting this much flack if that battle didn’t happen, as plenty of rap artists didn’t get that same criticism for submitting their work for Grammys consideration this year. It’s kind of similar to what happened with the Super Bowl halftime show, at least partially.

Kendrick Lamar’s “Euphoria” Is Apparently Up For Grammys Consideration

However, there were some other interesting updates regarding “Like That” in particular recently. Barry White’s estate recently filed a copyright lawsuit against the song, but it’s for the sample that Metro Boomin used for the beat. That sample is what allegedly infringed on White’s copyright, so Future, Kendrick Lamar, the St. Louis producer, and their labels aren’t codefendants in the case… yet. Prosecutors did state that they left the door open to direct action against them if the supposed indemnification provided to them from the original White samplers is insufficient in the court’s eyes.

Meanwhile, Kendrick Lamar fans recently got a chance to look back at an alternate visual take on Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. The photographer for the album’s cover art recently revealed some outtakes with his family for the cover shoot in which he holds his son Enoch and a shotgun in different pictures. We wonder what else is in the Compton lyricist’s vault. But we’ll see if his offerings this year as part of the Drake battle get some Grammy love.

The UFC has to answer some odd questions about their broadcast, as they made a major mix-up during a recent match. Moreover, the television stream identified boxer Terence Crawford in the stands as Kendrick Lamar, which understandably resulted in some backlash and racism accusations. What’s more is that it’s possible that this was actually intentional, albeit miscommunicated and confusingly presented. K.Dot actually references Crawford on “euphoria,” which is why many folks online saw this as more of a joke. We might never know for sure, and you will have your opinion on whether it’s insensitive even with this possible intent in mind.

However, it seems like Terence Crawford couldn’t help but laugh at this situation, so it seems like there are no hard feelings. “Damn @kendricklamar [two crying-laughing emojis],” he wrote on his Instagram Story this weekend along with a screenshot of UFC’s mix-up. It played Kendrick Lamar’s “euphoria” verse shouting Terence out in the background. Maybe Crawford and the “Watch The Party Die” MC have a more strong criticism of this practice. But for now, the former is just reacting to the antics and having fun with them.

As far as other Kendrick Lamar news, Usher recently gave him advice for his Super Bowl halftime show. “Everybody has this fifteen minutes of fame idea, but it’s really your fifteen minutes of fame,” the singer remarked on Live with Kelly and Mark. “You have to play hits. You’ve got to get right to it.” “I want no part of that. Memphis Bleek Is Team Kendrick Lamar After Multiple Drake Disses

Memphis Bleek started the legendary battle between Jay-Z and Nas. He took shots at Nas on his 2000 single “My Mind Right,” and the subsequent back-and-forth led to his label boss getting in the mix. It’s a little apocryphal (Jay and Nas already issues), but it proves that Bleek knows what he’s talking about when it comes to diss records. Bleek took time away from promoting his upcoming podcast to discuss the Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar battle. He made it very clear that he was backing the kid from Compton.

Bleek got on X (formerly Twitter) shortly after the release of Lamar’s devious diss “Euphoria.” He not only praised Lamar’s lyricism, but he took people who didn’t appreciate the song to task for not being real rap fans. “I can’t believe it’s people who really think that K. Dot record [trash],” he wrote. “Glad I’m not one of them cause he walked on that joint.”

Memphis Bleek and Kendrick Lamar have never crossed paths, but the former has been sampled on multiple Lamar songs. “LOYALTY,” K. Dot’s 2017 duet with Rihanna, samples the Roc-A-Fella posse cut “Get Your Mind Right Mami.” We have to take it much further back for Lamar’s “The Heart Part 2,” which dropped in 2010 and samples the same exact Bleek collab from 2000.

Bleek isn’t the only Roc-A-Fella member who has backed Lamar in the Drake battle. Dame Dash, Bleek’s former label boss, recently detailed the ways in which “Euphoria” dismantled Drizzy. “As a man, I thought that that was the most logical, grown man, battle rap, sh*t that you could say,” Dash claimed. “A father really enjoys hearing about how fly it is to be a dad. F*ck all that dumb sh*t. If you ain’t a dad it don’t matter.” Kanye West has also chosen Lamar’s side, and even recorded a remix to the diss song that kicked this whole battle off.

Jay-Z is the glaring Roc-A-Fella name who has yet to weigh in on which rapper he prefers. Given that Hov has praised and worked with both Lamar and Drake in the past, though, he’s probably being smart by staying out of it.

We have another Kendrick Lamar diss track to get to with “6:16 In LA,” but most of us aren’t even done enjoying “euphoria” yet. Moreover, one of the wildest bars on there roped in YNW Melly’s open double murder case, for which he stands accused of taking the life of two of his friends. While that case is still open and he hasn’t received a conviction, K.Dot made a reference to it while referring to J. Cole and Drake: “I pray they my real friends, if not, I’m YNW Melly.” It was one of the sharpest lyrical moments on there as well as having that extra oomph for mentioning another rapper, and a controversial one at that.

Furthermore, YNW Melly actually reacted to this bar from the former TDE MC. ““Kendrick Lamar is one of my favorite rappers so I feel honored and appalled… I’m a household name, just for the wrong s**t!” he remarked in a statement to TMZ. What’s more is that journalist and media figure @LorenLorosa on Twitter spoke with Melly’s mother, who had a similar sentiment. His opinions on hip-hop, and beef especially, holds weight. This is what makes his recent comments on the Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar battle so much fun to parse through. The duo represent the most substantial rivalry since Jay-Z and Nas, and Dash made it clear that he prefers one rapper over the other. Like most industry vets, he leans team Dot.

Dash was asked about Kendrick Lamar’s “Euphoria” diss during a barbershop visit, and the mogul had plenty of thoughts. He admitted that he was underwhelmed by the song on first listen, but the more he dug into it, the more he appreciated what Lamar was doing. “He smothered Drake,” Dash stated. “This is a battle of lyrics, and you can be eloquent about conveying a point.” The ex-Roc-A-Fella boss lamented the advent of AI, and the way that it ruined the songwriting process, but he remained complimentive of Kung Fu Kenny.

F*ck all that dumb sh*t. If you ain’t a dad it don’t matter.” Dash went as far as to liken “Euphoria” to Nas’ “Ether.” The irony, of course, is that “Ether” was aimed at Dash’s own business partner.

Dame Dash thought Lamar’s diss was tactically superior as well. He claimed that “Euphoria” made him question whether Drake’s previous statements were true. “It was a very strategic lyrical play,” he added, inferring that the Toronto rapper’s insecurities are now going to be under greater scrutiny. Dash didn’t say the battle was over, though, and he’s actually had praise for Drake in the past. He merely thinks K. Dot won the first round. It is currently at the top of Apple Music, and some fans believe he killed Drake with the song. For now, the attention remains on “Euphoria,” and it seems like the song is having lasting effects outside of the beef.

For instance, near the end of the song, while mocking Toronto slang, Lamar shouted out a restaurant called New Ho King. This establishment is in the Chinatown area of Toronto, and following the shoutout, it has been receiving tons of five-star reviews.
