63 Points Away: LeBron James Inches Closer to Kareem in Win Over Pacers

LeBron James Inches Closer to Kareem in Win Over Pacers

LeBron James is inching closer to surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s scoring record. After a 112-111 nailbiter win over the Indiana Pacers, King James is just 63 points away.

A tracker on NBA.com notes that based on LeBron’s 27.2 points per game scoring average, James would need three more games to break the record. That would project him to do so against the Milwaukee Bucks on Feb. 9. There is a chance it could come sooner with a scoring explosion. King James’ next two games are Feb. 4 against the New Orleans Pelicans and Feb. 7 against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

During the Thursday Night game, James added 26 points and drained a go-ahead 3-pointer with 2:35 left to put the Lakers ahead for the first time in the season.

You can see video below of King James’ latest highlights.

LeBron James Delivers Raw Thoughts On Scoring Record

LeBron James has had a legendary career in the NBA, and he is well on his way to breaking some truly impeccable records. One of these records has not been broken in 40 years. Of course, we are talking about Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring record.

Although LeBron has the most points across the regular season and the playoffs, it is the regular season record that everyone cares about. Overall, it seems likely that LeBron will break the record this season. However, there is no guarantee he breaks it as injuries are always a possibility.

LeBron James Reveals His True Feelings

For the most part, LeBron has been talking about what an honor this record would be. While this may be the case, it seems like LeBron isn’t as moved by the record as he has let on. This revelation came recently as some fans were chirping James courtside. At one point, James was asked if he would cry when he breaks the record. Consequently, it led to an interesting exchange.

“I’ll cry if we win a championship. Not for a scoring record. I didn’t even try to break it,” LeBron James said. This is a pretty unique statement to make in front of a camera. Surely, LeBron knew the phone was recording, although he did not seem to care. Instead, he gave his pure unfiltered thoughts, and it was quite refreshing.

We’re sure these comments will lead to some sort of essay on Kareem’s substack. The former Lakers legend has been quite critical of LeBron in the past, and these latest revelations could end up rubbing him the wrong way.

LeBron James Snubs Kareem Abdul-Jabbar On All-Time Lakers Starting 5 List

Throughout the decades, numerous amazing players have suited up for the Los Angeles Lakers. In terms of history, they probably have the greatest set of players in the history of the NBA, and if you are a fan of the team, you have lived through some amazing eras of Lakers basketball.

When you throw LeBron into the mix, it is almost impossible to make a Lakers all-time starting five without offending some people. There are too many good players to choose from, and if you leave someone off of the list, you know that there are some Lakers fans who will come after you.

According to reporter Peter Dewey, LeBron found this out the hard way as he recently gave his pick for the Lakers’ starting five. As you will see, he left Kareem off of this list, although it seemingly has nothing to do with Abdul-Jabbar’s recent criticisms of LeBron.

“All-time starting five for the Lakers?” James said. “I’m going Magic [Johnson] at 1, Jerry West at the 2, Kobe [Bryant] at the 3, myself at the 4 and Shaq (Shaquille O’Neal) at the 5. I mean Shaq is so dominant, man. I mean, I love Kareem too. I can’t even front on that, but Shaq’s so dominant, we need a big cuz I’m playing the 4, so we need a big. A.D. already put himself in the Top 5? Well put A.D. in, take me out.”

It is hard to bet against LeBron’s starting five, but the exclusion of Kareem might draw some angry cries from the purple and gold fanbase.

Reggie Bullock Selected as the 2022 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Social Justice Champion

Reggie Bullock of the Dallas Mavericks has been selected as the 2022 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Social Justice Champion, according to the NBA. Bullock was chosen from a group of five finalists for his commitment to social justice and advancing Abdul-life Jabbar’s mission of engaging, empowering, and driving equality for individuals and groups who have been historically marginalized or systemically disadvantaged, particularly those in the LGBTQ+ community.

Bullock dedicated his life to preserving his transgender sister Mia Henderson’s legacy and advocating for better exposure and acceptance for the LGBTQ+ community after she was murdered in 2014. Bullock immediately connected with organizations in the Dallas area, including Abounding Prosperity, Dallas Southern Pride, House of Rebirth, The Black-Tie Dinner, the Resource Center, and the Muhlashia Booker Foundation, to take action in support of their work after joining the Mavericks ahead of the 2021-22 season.

“We are all one, and I believe love lies in everybody’s heart,” said Bullock.  “It’s incredibly important to me as a cisgender athlete to stand in support of the trans and LGBTQ+ community.”

Bullock took part in a Mavs Take ACTION! initiative session titled Voices Unheard, Uplifting Trans Perspectives, alongside representatives from the Muhlashia Booker Foundation, ahead of the National Day of Trans Visibility on March 31, 2022. The discussion touched on the difficulties of losing a trans family member, community obstacles, and how allies may provide protection, partnership, visibility, and inclusion to trans people.

Bullock has utilized his platform to advocate for acceptance and inclusion of all people for for a decade, including participation in the NYC Pride March, pride games with various NBA teams, the GLAAD Media Awards, and activities for LGBTQ+ children and allies at NBA All-Stars and beyond. Bullock also founded RemarkaBULL, an organization dedicated to revitalizing areas for LGBTQ+ people to have a secure life. He continues to campaign for these persons’ equal rights and protections, including speaking out against legislation that forbids transgender adolescents from participating in sports and urging higher education institutions to examine inclusive policies. He teamed with the Vera Institute of Justice to interact with jailed communities and raise awareness about the adverse effects of mass imprisonment in order to help prevent violence against women.

Bullock wrote a Players Tribune piece titled “I Just Wanna Say My Sisters’ Names” in June 2021, in which he discussed the deaths of Henderson and his younger sister, Keiosha Moore, and advocated for increased awareness of gun violence and crimes against women. According to the Human Rights Campaign, more than 50 trans and gender non-conforming people were killed in the United States in 2017, the most in a single year on record. Since 2013, the Human Rights Campaign has identified 256 cases of lethal violence against trans and gender-nonconforming people, with at least 84 percent of that slain being people of color, 85 percent trans women, and 66 percent Black trans women.

SOURCE SPORTS: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Throws Some Criticism Towards LeBron James

kareem a minority of one

Things aren’t good in Los Angeles concerning the Lakers, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar isn’t happy about it.

Speaking before the Lakers hosted Denver on Sunday afternoon at the unveiling of a social justice trophy bearing his name, Abdul-Jabbar again criticized LeBron James for actions he said “were beneath” James. He said the Lakers star should be “embarrassed” by some of his actions.

“Some of the things he’s done and said are really beneath him, as far as I can see,” Abdul-Jabbar said via Dave McMenamin of ESPN. “Some of the great things that he’s done, he’s standing on both sides of the fence almost, you know? It makes it hard for me to accept that when he’s committed himself to a different take on everything. It’s hard to figure out where he’s standing. You’ve got to check him out every time.”

These comments come just a few months after Abdul-Jabbar criticized James’ on-court celebrations, especially his vaccine hesitancy, calling it “a blow” to LeBron’s “worthy legacy.”

James is the second NBA all-time leader in scoring, only behind Abdul-Jabbar. It seems like Abdul-Jabbar is giving his take of James’ antics on and off the court. James is usually a buttoned-up individual. Hopefully, the two parts can talk things out rather than air each other out publicly.

Lil Dicky Gets Romantically Involved With Doja Cat In A New Trailer For Season 2 Of ‘Dave’

It was made official a few weeks ago that the second season of Lil Dicky’s beloved FX series Dave will premiere this summer. Now there’s a new trailer for the upcoming episodes and it reveals some of what will be going on this season. The new season, by the way, is set to premiere on June 16 at 10 p.m. on FXX before streaming on Hulu the next day.

Dicky seems to be experiencing a creative block and having trouble making his debut album, despite other things in his life going well. For example, Dicky seems to have connected with Doja Cat through an online dating platform. Elsewhere, he encounters Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi of Rae Sremmurd, as well as Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner at Benny Blanco’s house. The trailer wraps up with him hilariously talking with NBA legend (and Airplane star) Kareem Abdul-Jabbar about how basketball used to be.

Other celebrities not in the trailer but previously revealed to be making appearances this season are Lil Nas X, CL, Kyle Kuzma, J Balvin, Lil Yachty, Kevin Hart, and others.

Press materials previously said of the new season, “Dave knows he’s destined for rap superstardom — but at what cost? With the pressure mounting as he records his debut album, he has to decide if he’ll sacrifice friendships, love, and his own sense of self in order to make his dream come true. Simultaneously exasperating and inspiring to his friends, Dave vows to leave no stone unturned on his quest to become the next superstar.”

Watch the new trailer above.
